We ordered the wonton and dumpling. We loved the wonton and dumplings, the soup was really good too. So far this was the best wonton and dumplings and the price was reasonable.

Look at the size of the wonton noodle! I was actually a bit shocked that it was this snack-sized bowl that came to my table, considering it was $45! Needless to say, I was still hungry afterwards. The good thing about this place is that the seating and environment is better than your average noodle shop. they provide tea (free), napkins, and condiments in a nicely presented way. Are all these luxuries worth the markup in price? Probably not.If you’re actually looking for a decent portion of noodles for a meal, I’d opt for the one just across the street. The noodle portion is maybe 2-3x, and their wonton sizes are way bigger too.Mak’s, however, has definitely got a more delicate-ness in it’s noodle, soup, and wonton. So if it’s quality you’re looking for, this lil bowl would make quite a nice snack for a wonton noodle fix.

A Michelin, long history, traditional Wonton Noodle can not be missed whenever my stomach has room in Central! There are many items on menu, but my favourite is simple Signature Wonton Noodle and broil green…..Hand picked tender green Guy Lan broil to perfection, drip of hot pork oil to glaze, just like french fries in duck fat, serve with good non overly salty oyster sauce, yum. Then my main attraction WTN, since it originally a snack therefore portion is small. 4 oz of fresh made egg noodle, exquisite simmered Earth Fish soup & 4 one mouthful wontons!I enjoy it in my own sequence, first finish the wontons, then drain all the soup with the spoon and finally noodle with red vinigar…. heavenly!Being a locally borned Chinese, knowing the difference of WTN, only a few shops stand out in a jungle, yum!

Famous & old Cantonese noodle shop in town which used to be amongst the top. Now competition much keener & their noodle quality not as good as before & not short of MSG. Noodle texture still good. Grossly overpriced.

When this pandemic ends (hopefully won’t be too far from now!I want to go Hong Kong to eat all the yummy food again!!& on my to-eat list, Mak’s Noodle is one of the must go place! Their famous thin yet springy noodle & plump wontons are really good! We ate more than one bowl each as it was so good that you won’t be able to resist 😋😋My girl enjoyed their wonton noodles so much that she asked if can take a picture with the chef who was very kind and friendly 🥰If you are in Hong Kong or plan to go Hong Kong in the near future, go try it! Do bear in mind is not quite near MTR station so be prepared to walk a bit but you can eat more when you are there :)

The food is delicious and the prices are even better! Love it when aware winning food is unpretentious and affordable for all. The noodles were cooked perfectly wherein its not too soft not too hard. The soup itself is super delicate with nice umami taste. Only downside was the wait but then again, thats how you know its great!

One of my fav place to go for wonton noodle plus fish ball. The fish balls are fabulous n the shrimp wontons are crispy. Yet the noodles are Dante. During pandemic the shop is more relax n spacey not crushed like normally. One could enjoy eating than a cramped space and under stress of shouting from one to another of the Chinese elderly waitresses.

Went in for afternoon tea in October20. It was off peak hour, so they allow us to order one noodle to share! The environment was clean and service was good. Staffs were happy to serve us.We ordered and shrimp and pork dumpling noodle. The dumpling is put at the bottom while the noodles on top. This is to prevent the noodle from getting soggy and soft. The tv inside the restaurant shows how the noodles and dumplings were made. It also introduce the history of wonton noodles.

Amazing noodles with tasty wontons!!! Can anyone say no to this? The skin of the wontons are thin which is perfect! And you can taste how fresh the shrimp is! Best wonton noodle place in HK!

No doubt wonton noodle is good. But the portion is quite small for the price you are paying. Wont walk out full if youre just eating that one dish. And by the time you order a few more dishes to fill up, suddenly its the most expensive wanton noodle eat out youve ever had! Ok to try once, but not sure if its worth coming back over and over again

Dumplings were the best so far, with juicy pork and crunchy prawn fillings. Soup was delicious as well, superior broth as they would like to be known.Be warned however that noodle portions were laughably small. Be prepared for a second helping unless youre really just there for taste testing.

Okay so those Michelin stars are well deserved as the quality of the food and the price point make this place a stellar option for a quick meal. The shop itself is quite small, but turn around is fast as the food comes out quick. Keep in mind that you may need to share tables during peak hours. The menu is simple yet perfect. Once you sit, it doesnt take long to order and get your food as the servers are constantly walking around. I opted for the braised beef wonton noodle soup and the chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The broth is clear and rich with slivers of scallions and thick chunks of braised beef. The noodles had the perfect chew. And the wontons, well those little pockets of treasure were plump with filling. The spicy chili on the table was quite spicy which I loved! I was about to order a whole nother bowl, but I was eating with a friend and didnt want to seem like a fatty. They have tissue boxes available, but in Asia I tend to bring a stack of napkins everywhere I go.

Best wonton noodles in HK. The noodles are hand made and such a nice texture, firm but not hard or soggy. Only issue I have is that it’s too small and I end up ordering two bowls!!! There’s also a shop in causeway bay which I also went and is also excellent.

Most incredible noodles place Ive ever visited. The broth was simply delectable, the noodles full of shrimp wontons flavor that were part of the dish. The place is small, but good things come in small packages. The service was quick and very friendly. At one point they saw one of us struggling with long noodles and actually brought scissors to cut them in pieces! That was definitely a first. Funny, yet helpful. Apparently, they are also Michelin starred. You wont go wrong with this place.

History captured in a bowl of noodles! Nah , this place is more than just history , it is every day narrative that should be savored one noodle at a time. I liked the small portions, this way you can try multiple dishes

Mak Noodles is a famous cha chaan teng (Hong Kong style cafethat specialises in wonton noodles. They have several branches around the city including this eatery on Wellington Street in Central.Opening hours are 11am to 9pm, the restaurant is full most of the day but tables turn over quickly, usually around 20-25 minutes. Expect a short queue if eating at peak lunch or dinner hours. If you are ready to order upon being seated, you have food on the table in no more then 3-4 more minutes. There will be English speaking staff to take orders. Menus on on the table and are in Cantonese and English. Note that serving sizes are small. As such, Maks feels rather pricey compared to your usual cha chaan teng. The wonton soup at Maks has a heavy prawn presence - which can be a good thing if you like seafood flavoured broth and not such a great thing if not. Recently had pork & prawn wanton that tasted good. Bowl had four wontons. We also had the beef brisket noodles served in soup. This was better, the noodles are tiny but had a nice fragrance and taste. The beef was tender as well.Another dish tried recently was the stirred noodle with pork sauce. This was a bit spicy, a nice change from the wanton and broth soup bowls at Maks Noodle. In the end, is the food good at Maks Noodles? Yes! Is it really the best in Hong Kong? Probably not. But this is most likely the most famous wanton specialist in the city, which means loads of tourists will want to give it a try while seeking out popular historic eateries around Hong. Join the queue if you have time and interest.

Mak’s Noodle - Central, Hong KongBeef Brisket & Wonton Noodle SoupMak’s Noodle vs Tsim Chai Kee. Two noodle shops parallel with each other in central Hong Kong. A debate that is ever lasting between locals, tourists and soup fans alike. Having eaten at Tsim Chai Kee twice I decided to give Mak’s a go for lunch. There’s a bit of a choreographed feeling upon entering Mak’s - a well rehearsed sequence from the floor manager which gets you from the line to your table and seated with a perfectly laid out table setting and a steaming cup of tea. This is something you don’t get across the road and it’s something in which probably justifies Mak’s higher price. I’m not here for the free tea refills or the fancy pants chopstick holder, I’m here for the soup. A soup prepared in the steaming front kitchen is hastily brought to my table. The fragrance of this dish is incredible. I could smell the aroma’s of a broth that had been clearly boiled down over many many hours. While the bowl is physically small the sheer intensity of this dish can be tasted through the complex flavours within. The beef brisket was a tasty delight. If like most reviewers I am to compare Mak’s to Tsim Chai Kee I would say the difference lies within the wontons. The golf ball sized wonton’s over the road are a clear winner - unfortunately I thought Mak’s was lacking flavour and the huge prawns. The noodles while similar from both vendors are a bit more stringy compared to the bouncy nature of Tsim Chai Kee’s. I however had a great experience at both restaurants, an immersive dining experience at Mak’s which featured some stunning service for a $9 noodle soup dish. Try both. You won’t be disappointed.🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢Broth Flavour: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5Soup ingredients: 🍜🍜🍜.5/5Service: 🍜🍜🍜🍜.5/5Overall: 🍜🍜🍜🍜/5🥢🥢🥢🥢🥢Follow me on Instagram @soupfluencer

Acceptable satisfaction of their beef brisket and wonton noodle soup. Even though its a Michelin Restaurant, it didn’t meet my expectations which were a letdown. The portion was small for a considerable high price and the service was not efficient in a way that I had to move seats for a group of customers that came in. Luckily, I had finished eating and was generous to move, I didnt like the fact that I was chosen to move whereas a woman who just entered got a 4-seated table to herself.Besides, the staff were really nice and spoke good English. I asked their recommends and they offered the dish that I ordered in the image. And while you are dining, you can see the chefs make prawn wontons.

Well known, well regarded and well recommended, errr....so must give it a try. Actually, its quite tasty, the broth is superb and the noodles is so fine. But portion seems awfully small and quite pricey too. Service is acceptable but somehow they forgot about the dumplings which they realised a few minutes later. Whoosh... for a moment, we thought we just ordered the plain noodles only 😂😂😂 Seating is as usual in HK is tight and table sharing.

We visited early for lunch on a week day and didnt have to wait for a table which was great. We tried the number 8 (wonton & dumpling noodleswhich was very tasty. The broth has a strong fish taste, the noodles are springy and the wonton are very fresh. It probably isnt the most affordable wonton noodle soup you can get, but its a good spot nonetheless. The ambiance also is nicer than lots of shops, with comfy seats and air conditionning.#hongkongfood #maksnoodle #wontonnoodlesoup #wonton

I tried their signature wonton noodle soup. Nothing spectacular and portion are small so took bok choi as well but I wouldn’t go back. Surely there must be better places for the same food at cheaper price. The place is very bright and you don’t feel like staying very long. More a business place our days I think due to the reputation. Nothing cosy.

Cant go wrong with a michelin-starred restaurant. Since their signature dish is wanton noodle, we tried one dry, and one with soupy noodle. The noodle itself has smooth texture, the wanton are generous in size with full-sized stuffed fillings like any wanton noodle restaurant in hong kong. While the soup was tummy-warming, the dry noodles were served with a kind of oyster sauce which tasted ordinary. This place is small so table-sharing is unavoidable.

To begin with, I’m not a fan of soup based wan tan mee. This place changed my thoughts about that. The clear, rich soup is comforting, delicious and warms your soul.I personally love the beef tendon. While many places tend to overcook it, Mak’s noodles make them really tender and metls in your mouth. The place is comfortable and clean unlike many tight hong kong eateries which may not be as clean at times..The price can be on a high side, comparing with its neighbour, chim chai kee. But the taste as well as venue makes it worth the buck.

Love the dumpling!!! Opened in 1920 in Guangzhou and their legendary dumpling skill and such nice shumai beef noodle is a perfection. You can see master chef cooking from the street window. Beef noodle broth is little salty compare to the dumpling clean broth. Yet both are delicious! Such a historic masterful place.

Noodle is Q (springy)... good. Wonton is da bomb, tasty juicy and flavorful. Soup was marvelous. Especially when on a cool or cold day. Warms the tummy. Definately recommended. Will visit them again on next trip..This place should be given Michelin Star...Or not... no star becos price will remain he same. But wonton is meaty, delicious..One bowl is not enough.Came back again. And will be back during next visit to HK.

Location: the shop is super easy to find and nearly all taxi drivers in Hong Kong would know this place, its also situated within 10 minutes walking distance from the Ding Ding stopFood: Definitely not overrated and a well deserved Michelin star. The broth is seasoned just nicely to accompany the wantons and noodles with a hint of dried scallops elevating the overall flavours.Drinks: only had the Chinese tea here, nothing much to say about itPrice: Definitely on the pricey side of things, definitely not recommended if youre on a tight budgetOverall: Definitely a must try if youre visiting Hong Kong, heck even if youre a local you have to try it ! Will most definitely visit the place again if Im in town.

Tasty bit of noodles history of Hong Kong! Famous for its shrimp noodles (not sure if shrimps were involved in its making, you can hardly tell!with wonton dumplings. Expect a portion of noodles will not be filling despite the relatively pricey $46-$50 a piece. Tiny bowl of about one or two big galloping. Shop offers complementary Chinese tea (hot), offers Coke being the only alternative and cold option. An experience to visit and taste, not for regular consumption unless you crave their tasty wontons.Other specialities noodles are also equally exquisite but relatively pricey for its size.

Their wonton noodle is pretty good. The noodle is fine and crunchy. The soup is clear and sweet. The wonton skin is soft and thin, with prawns and I suspect grilled squid for some extra taste complexity. As some might indicate, the portion is small compared to other foods. For wonton noodle lovers, this is worth a try.Oh they also do other types of noodles such as beef brisket (but I find it not as good and the beef brisket is not soft enough).

Tight seating, small portions and overpriced for HK standards. Tried their signature prawn roe noodles and it was nothing to shout about. I have tasted better wonton soup in downtown HK. For a place with upscale food prices, their food presentation resembles that of those streetfood vendors in Temple St Night Market. Couldnt understand the hype

I love the wontons here! The wrapping is thin but does not tear, and the shrimp stuffing is so tasty! My typical order is one bowl of wonton noodles and one bowl of just wontons, but I can eat a ton of this stuff if I dont hold back. I have also tried the wontons with beef brisket as well as a side of beef tendon. I have enjoyed everything so far. Dont forget to add some red vinegar!

A simple bowl of noodles with elements that come together to create a complex flavor. Beef brisket was tender and not lacking in any way (both in taste and amount). Broth was rich and flavorful, savoured to the last drop! Noodles were the right level of springy and enhanced instead of overpowering the broth like the average bowl of beef noodles.Would recommend for small groups as there are few tables and each has a maximum capacity of 4 individuals. Come at a non-peak hour or be prepared to wait!

This place definitely deserves the accolades that it has received. Once inside youll also see a framed article of Mr Anthony Bourdaine himself having visited. Excellent wonton noodles. Beef brisket is ok, go for the beef tendon and wonton if you have a craving for beef. Very small portions though for 40-50 HK$. Quite expensive considering the size of the bowl. If you have a decent appetite you will need more than one bowl for sure.
