Maiwand Grill - Afghani restaurant in Baltimore, United States
Working with this company was really a wonderful experience. The crew members were very polite, respectful, and hardworking; they were very skilled with the mold removal work they did for us. I recommend them highly.z
Very good food! Affordable and generous portion sizes. Its a go to take out place for us. I love the chicken kabob with rice. Nan is home made and fresh
Nice place, nice staff, delicious chicken shawarma!
Amazing excellent food will go back again couldn’t take a picture . Burger was so juicy and melted inside mouth
Amazing food, kind workers, and good prices. Highly recommend!
The ambiance and staff of the place is really good. Additionally its a perfect place if you like BBQ and indopak cuisine. And yes you heard it right its Halaaaaal
Usually their food is good but I am very disappointed today. The Aushak ALWAYS has beef and mint in it. Today it had no beef and no mint and was swimming in grease. I talked to the manager and all he did was give me excuses about supply chain issues because its Sunday. IF YOU CANNOT SERVE THE DISH AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE YOU SHOULD NOT BE SELLING IT AT ALL. Very unprofessional. He did not even offer me a discount or anything.
The veggie platter is delicious!! The potato samosas are incredible!! Eat there!! 😋
By the look of it, you tell me if it was good 🤤
*Nice cordial young staff, the restaurant itself is always clean, and nice to walk into, limited and temporary Parking out front when available and whats even nicer to look at is the food and its even better when you try it,you do not need to be an Afghani to enjoy Maiwand food just be a proud human being with an appetite...One of MY favorites choices are the Baked Salmon and the chicken kabob with brown rice & salad and there nice warm Naan bread thats included...*And for this restaurant, its located downtown across from the Royals farm arena and 3 blocks away from orioles stadium and 8 blocks from the inner harbor,, so enjoy Maiwands food and the rest of your day, you deserve it...Theres more to life than just wearing a mask and watching the news, theres you enjoying your day, your life and trying good food....Gracias 👍
Excellent Afghan burger, tastes really good. Fries are housemade and very delicious. Highly recommended.
Absolutely delicious food with great portion sizes. The kofta was cooked perfectly and had a great blend of seasoning
This restaurant appeals to me. Its a tasty meal. Excellent food and service.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is fantastic--flavorful, aromatic, and inexpensive. Even the more simple foods like the rice and winter squash were delicious!
I like restaurant. Its a nice eat at but the some of the prices are kind of high like the Salmon platter.
The lamb kebab and the chicken kebab were both superb. The Maiwand Grill is renowned for its delicious food and excellent service. I enjoy the ambiance inside. It was just amazing.
So delicious, so fresh, and very affordable. You must try their daily specials, everyday there is a different special and I am hooked on all of them. Definitely tastes like a home made meal. If you are a UMaryland student or employee then you get 10% off if you show your badge. I almost don’t eat anywhere else anymore ❤️
My first time at Maiwand Grill, the staff was friendly and helpful. I believed the salmon and lamb kebab was the best on their menu. Its the ideal place for a family date.
Always amazing food! Be sure to get a side of pumpkin and a Mango shake with your kabob or gyro. And the seasoned rice is a reason to go all by itself! (And did someone say naan... Mmmmmmmmmmm!)
Love the food, I have eaten there more times then I can count. Especially when I worked downtown Baltimore. A bit of a drive now, but definitely worth it 👌🏽 😀
Even though it was crowded with people eating lunch, I didnt have to wait long for the meal, which was excellent. I would definitely suggest having lunch there if you are in Baltimore.
Excellent customer service. The staff is helpful and courteous. Great cuisine is served. constantly new. The point is flavoring.
What a wonderful experience—highly advised. Please try this restaurant if you appreciate central Asian/Middle Eastern cuisine.
Their chicken Kabob and the lamb kebab were equally impressive. It was delicious, and the lamb was tender. The price was price compared to the serving youll have.
Customer service is great. Staff is very nice and friendly. The food is great. always fresh.
Tries to overcharge on meals by charging a "Delivery fee" for pickup orders. Would not explain Rude/aloof staff.
Falafel platter was great and their service was a top notch. We really enjoyed our experience here. Would come again with the family.
I called today when he said hello I literally said lamb kabob please. He said hold on. Then sat the phone down for 7 mins I hung up and tried calling for another 7 mins and the phone was busy. This was disappointing not because I was hungry but this my favorite resturaunt. I eat the atleast 4 times a week and cant go back. Ima miss that balaclava and the nice lady that normally answer the phone smh
This food was mid. Maybe it was mid because I came during icna convention but it was mid. First, it was packed and the line was long. Second, I sat next to the window which brought bugs all over my food. Third the lamb tasted like cardboard and the salad and rice was disgusting. I would not really recommend this food but if you came at a different time it might be different. Their were also no forks so yeah.
The service up front was insanely meh. The guy was super un interested and either didnt hide it or was making a point of showing it. We ordered a meal and he didnt bother telling us to get our drinks, when we asked for the drink he told us to get cans (only two types in fridgeand only after asking for the fountain drinks did he agree and give us a cup. I asked for no fries with my shawarma or drink thinking itll be cheaper, still paid full price and he didnt point it out. Went back for to go box and the second guy at the counter was waaay better, at least smiled and seemed interested in doing wht hes doing. Girl who delivered food was nice too. Chicken shawarma was definitly worth the high pice. Beef shawarma was great ingredients, but the tender beef chunks were still too big and would fall off the shawarma which makes a (delicousmess.
The food was delicious and even though it was busy with the lunch crowd, I didnt have to wait long. 100% would recommend stopping in for lunch if you are visiting Baltimore.
All the kabobs are nicely marinated and well cooked. Their in house Naan Bread with green sauce are refreshing appetizers. Nice and clean environment for family. Obviously everything is Halal and each dishes comes with good portion for a person.
Everything we ordered was delicious from the appetizers to the entrees. You could easily make a meal from ordering 3 or so appetizers. I could eat a whole plate of the rice alone. We ordered the pumpkin (tasted like dessert and I loved it), the fried cauliflower (wouldve preferred it to be more fried but still tasty), the chicken kebab, and kofte kebab. This was my favorite meal on my first trip to Baltimore. Definitely check this place out!
Delicious food at a fair price. They were accommodating to my dietary needs which was an added bonus! It is a place where you order at a counter and then they bring you your food which is casual but the food is of a quality you would expect at a fancy sit down restaurant. On this occasion there were no tables when we ordered but the staff went out of their way to find us space by the time our food was ready!
The food was so fresh and delicious. Best afghan food weve ever had. They even make their bread fresh and serve it warm.
I came here yesterday for the first time with my father. The food was pretty good, very flavorful. We got the Thursday special; the do piazza. The only thing I didn’t like, and this is a personal take, was that no one greeted us when we entered or ordered. We walked up to the counter, and someone appeared but didn’t welcome us; I spoke first, and that was a bit off putting.
Just had their Beef kabob and potato curry over rice, grilled Salmon, and dessert (Afghan ice cream. , outstanding! This was my first time here with my friend. I cant wait to come again. Excellent. Highly recommend it to anyone. You won’t be disappointed.
Customer service is great. Staff is very nice and friendly. The food is great. always fresh. Flavoring is to the point. Chili chicken is one of the their best items. They also make malai chicken very well compared to their other locations.
My cousin who is a picky eater recommended this restaurant and I’m happy she did. It wasn’t busy when we ate there. Spacious restaurant. I ordered the lamb gyro. My meal came out hot and good quality ingredients. The baklava was well made. Buttery and a nice crisp. The samosas were spicy and tasted more flavorful when I ate them cold later in the evening. I would definitely try them again when I’m in the area.
We love Maiwand Grill for what it is. We categorize it as great fast slow food. You order at a counter, but your meal is served on an actual plate with metal utensils. I tend to favor the Veggie Platter.. a combination of 5 different vegetarian dishes with rice and naan. Yummy! Perfect for a good weekday meal before catching a show at the Everyman Theater.
Well be back! Had the kabobs- chicken and seasoned ground beef. The chicken was just a little spicy, so I ended up liking the seasoned beef best. Husband liked both. The rice is not boring white rice -really good version here. Baba ghanoush also great. Prices very reasonable!! Order at counter and food will be delivered to your table.
My wife and I were at the University of Maryland medical center, And I was excited to be able to try food from Afghanistan.WOWJUST WOWEVERYTHING WAS FANTASTICI ordered a cross-section of things off the menuI love to try new food and I go all in when I do.Everything was fantastic, fresh and served quickly. The staff was very pleasant and the service was greatNext time Im back at the medical center I will absolutely be in there againDo yourself a favor and make sure you give them a try if you find yourself in that part of Baltimore!
I ordered the "Five crispy chicken wings and fries." It was $9.99. when it came it was FOUR buffalo wings, not whole wings. (So horribly over priced! They were not crispy. The fries were cold. The only saving grace was the Bolani. It was amazing! Crispy dough wrapper filled with potatoes, onions, and spices. I would definitely get that again. Dont get the chicken wings though. Not worth it.
Falafel Platter with Fries & BaklavaPros: Customer Service was great, my food came out pretty quickly. I walked in and ordered. The restaurant was clean and empty but I chose to dine in and enjoyed that part of the experience. The large portions is def a plus. You could prob make this stretch over 2-3 meals really. Great bang for your buck. The rice, naan and hummus were spectacular. The baklava was good too, it was my first time trying it.Cons: This is Possibly skewed due to my own personal preferences, but I found the falafel to be fried a bit hard. Again you get a lot which is nice. The French fries were fried with this crusty exterior (not sure how to describeso they were crispy but I don’t prefer my French fries like that so it wasn’t a plus for me.Overall I would recommend visiting and trying for yourself! I wish I could give them 3.5 stars. Really it was just the Falafel and French fries…
Not sure where to start... Both food and service was horrible. On top of all that the manager in charge had an attitude after we had complained... Chicken and red meat was not marinated properly and was very dry... Humus was overly salted... Kids chicken tenders were nearly burnt... Only thing that was decent was their chickpeas with naan... Bring your own wipes cause the tables were sticky...
My daughter treated me to dinner 🥰 the mango smoothie & baklava was was a tasty treat 🤗 my lamb chops was so meaty and delicious 😋 like they were right of the grill. Amazing flavors ❣️Im sad they forgot my order of spinach 😣 I would of loved to of had that along with this amazing dinner.
The lamb is quite soft and good here. Definitely suggest to check this place out. Baklava was surprisingly good. And the staff was really respectful. The salad part was so do though.
Well, last weekend I went to Gordon Ramsay steak at the horse shoe and the food here at Maiwand was cheaper and tastier than at the fancy restaurant. Good job! Will recommend and will repeat!
Hard to find quality food at a good value in this area of Baltimore. We’ve been in the city a week, and have been back 5 times!! Hence all the pictures....they have the BEST food. Highly recommend the daily specials. My favourites are the falafel platter and chicken curry. Don’t skip the hummus either!! We typically don’t like the salads that come with these types of dishes, but this salad was excellent! They have generous portions at incredible value. Wonderful staff, comfortable, casual and clean.
Very authentic food. Everything we tried was delicious. Highly recommend the Chicken Kabobs. The pumpkin appetizer was very different but good. Service was alittle slow but worth the wait. They were very accommodating for a bigger group.
