Contemporary space with bespoke design touches & a vegetarian menu with eastern influences.
This is an absolute recommendation for vegetarian food in Prague. The location is great and the food delicious, I had spinach feta quesadillas.
Such a great vegetarian restaurant with some vegan options! The food is a little pricey, but given the location and quality, its worth every penny. I love this restaurant not just because you get great food, but its also one of the few places where you can try vegetarian versions of Czech (a very meat heavy cuisinedishes! I recommend it to everyone who loves good food and a good ambience.
Very good vegetarian restaurant!!They offer variety of dishes , its very tasty and special.Have a good value for the price
Very creative menu with vegetarian and vegan foodHad the spinach quesadillas and the non meat goulash here. The closest I can get to tasting goulash, thanks to them.
Didnt have a reservation and restaurant was fully booked but a really kind waiter took pity on us as tourists and made an effort to ensure we got a table. Food was superb, and the surrounds and ambience are second to none. But it was the kindness and hospitality shown to us that made made the whole experience extra special. Maitrea tops our list of restaurants in Prague.
A go to place whenever Im in Prague. They have a huge variety of vegan options from around the world including local dishes. Staff are very friendly. Food is fresh and full of flavour
Nice ambiance but the staff could be more friendly.Meals were okay. I was disappointed by the goulash but the appetizers tasted better. In total : nice spot for vegetarian eaters who want to have a large selection of dishes
Delicious restaurant for vegan and vegetarians. Nice ambience and in the middle of the old town.
This restaurant has a few vegan options.Well, this was my first time having goulash and it was sooo delicious! The flavors, the paprika, the texture of the vegan meat, all on point! I considered going back to have it again, but I opted not too because I had a few vegan spots to visit on my stay.I didn’t enjoy the taste of the raw chocolate avocado mousse; didn’t finish it.If I am ever to visit Prague again; this will be my first stop for a meal.
We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere of the restaurant. The servers really did a good job, but you could tell they were overwhelmed with the quality of customers they had to serve.Would we go there again? Absolutely yes.Just keep in mind...3 stars is a solid restaurant. 4 stars is fantastic. 5 stars is exceptional - almost never.
In love with this place . Lot of variety and taste is excellent। Best part is they even have many czech local dishes in vegetarian version so in case you want to try goulash and svickova vegetarian version this is the place for you . And also the service is excellent . Everyone in staff is super friendly . Highly recommend place ❤️
A full taste experience! The dishes are all delicious and the service is friendly and courteous. We have tried both of their restaurants and are very impressed with both. Only to recommend!
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, in a central location, and the staff was pleasant. There were less vegan options than I expected but enough for a varied meal. We had the hummus, guacamole, and nut-based spread, which were quite good. The vegan goulash was okay. The sauce and potatoes were good but the seitan was quite rubbery and lacked flavor. The Asian stir fry was tasty and the fake meat was far superior in this dish. Overall the restaurant is a bit overpriced for the quality, and portions are a bit smaller than we expected.
Very good vegetarian food and friendly staff; a must if you are in the corner! Buddha bowl was the best veg food I had in a while
On our first evening in prague we decided to go to maitrea. Maitrea is one of the few places in prague with a big selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Even if you are not vegetarian you will definitly find a meal that will stimulate your tasting senses ;We reserved a table for 2 very spontaniously and we were lucky that they had one table left. During the time in the restaurant we expirienced many people who didnt get a table spontaniously, so we would reccomend to reservate! All in all the food was amazing (especially the smoked tofu dip). We both had burgers which were also very yummy. The service was very friendly and the location was amazing and unique.
We need more restaurants like Maitrea!-Good location in Old town-Great atmosphere and music-Nutritious, delicious and comforting food (Lots of veggies, herbs, spices, vegan protein sources)-International menu / clientele-Recommendations: Udon noodles with peanut sauce, homemade lemonade and jasmine tea.
Very delicious food with generous portions. What stands out most in this place is the decoration. I have never been to a cellar that gives the impression of being cozier and brighter than the ground floor.Menu offers mixed variety of vegetarian options, spanning from europian cuisine all the way to east asia. You can go for the greens, or the meat substitute options, and you will not be disappointed.Definitely worth checking out..
We had a wonderful table in the back of the basement floor. The basement has a superb atmosphere, which only adds to the general ambiance and feeling a guest has upon entering this restaurant. The food was exceptional and we also tried a wide array of apetizers and the zucchini soup. The staff was very friendly and professional, while maintaining an easy-going "customer-staff" relationship. I can personally vouch for the Texmex Quesadilla, Spinach Lasagna, Wok and Goulasch. They also offer freshly pressed juice. I can highly recommend this even for meat eaters, the dishes can surprise you!
My friends and I never had vegan Czech food and this place blew our minds. We got the pea soup, goulash, and traditional Czech dish. Everything were amazing! If I could like the plate, I would. Best vegan restaurant in Prague for us!
Great selection on vegetarian option ! Good portion and lots of sitting.
In small side street in old town this very nice restaurant is located. They have about 15-20 vegetarian options for main courses. We ate with 5, all of us loved our food. Very friendly waiters also. Definitely a place to go for anyone who loves vegetarian food.
Nice atmosphere … good meat alternative for veggies. Although I felt that they insisted on tips a bit strongly than what they deserved… otherwise overall a good experience.
A beautiful restaurant, from the entrance you wont be able to make out how big it is.Amazing ambience which is perfectly lit and delicious food. I just found this randomly and I am so glad I went and tried food here. Best part is that I could have Goulash and Svickova in vegetarian non meat option.I am really happy with the taste and the service here. Much recommended
Delicious vegan food! The goulash was amazing! The restaurant is quite beautiful only the staff was a bit odd. They did not greet us when we arrived and the food came to quick (<5 min). So the atmosphere was a bit rushed. Overall, would recommend!
Best veggie place in Prague.Food is delicious and definitely you need to visit Maitrea. If you are tired with typical Czech cuisines this is a place for you 😏
Hidden quiet oasis in the city with vegan and vegetarian food. Relaxing music and muffled light even in daytime. Recommend an Asian small salad and the curry.
One of the best vegan meals we had in Prague, also will definitely be satisfying and good for non vegans.Service was good, efficient and kind. Dishes were inventive, delicious, beautifully presented. The atmosphere is fantastic. We loved it.
Beautiful place, really nice decor. Great choice of food and really good! They have the 2 local dishes in veggie or vegan options so it’s a great opportunity to test a typical dish. Also super nice staff. Recommended
We got a table on the ground floor which does not have a great ambience like that of the basement level. The vegan goulash were just soya nuggets in goulash sauce and Thai curry was flavourful. However the portions werent filling. In dessert section we tried strawberry crumble which was decent .
ABSOLUTE AMAZING RESTAURANT !!! i went once for dinner and i loved it, everything is vegetarian, they have a big variety of dishes from typical czech dishes to asian and mexican food ... the price is absolutely reasonable. i went another time on a sunday to have lunch it was full so id recommend to make a reservation if you go on the weekend just in case... i will definitely return when i go back to praha !!!!!!!!!! i loved the lasagna by the way ... jiji
They serve highly delicious food. And their waiter was friendly (as opposed to many other places in Prague which have rude people serving). We ordered cold starters plate for two people as appetizers and then ordered maitrea burger for two people. It was more than enough food for both of us and unfortunately we couldnt finish them all but everything on the plates were extremely tasty. Highly recommend this place!Note: The burger plate is already missing the half of the burger because we had already started eating the other half when I took the photo.
I loved the ambiance and the beauty of the restaurant. The service was always with a smile. The food was decent in taste and presentation. The variety was good - given that it was a vegetarian restaurant (with a few vegan optionsyou would expect a small menu, I expected limited options. However, the restaurant didn’t disappoint me. There is a good range of dishes to choose from. The restaurant looked packed with different elements. There was a small water fountain, greenery, etc.pricing was great. Given that this restaurant is at the heart of the tourist hotspot, this restaurant is very economical by that standards
The food was delicious (I tried the tofuie gras and the goulash). The place was very nice. But what really made it for me was the staff. I was so fool I did the reservation for the next day 🤦🏻♂️ They went the extra mile to accommodate me... and they did. They were really, really nice to me (and thank you too to my fellow dinner buddy, Daniel, who accepted to share the table with me).Totally recommended 👍🏻
this is the place to go to in Prague if you’re vegetarian / vegan 🌱 a lot of choice, really sought and thought about; tasty and generous. The place is beautiful, with this indian chill atmosphere, with wood, plants and nice background music. be careful to book in advance (at least 1h before). you can go back tons of times to try everything on the menu!
Great, altogether very busy vegan place. We were sitting in the middle of the place and people, including staff, were constantly bumping into me while eating. At least food was top notch.Staff / environment 3*Food 5*
Absolutely perfect! The restaurant is beautifully designed with Zen vibes all around, an amazing and rich menu for such convenient prices, service was great and the food was amazing! Dont think twice - just go there.
Very good place for everybody despite the fact you are vegetarian, vegan or not.Very delicious food and the best vegetarian burger weve ever tried. Recommended ✌️ 🍔
Its really that good! The vibes is great, and the staff are all so helpful and friendly, speaks perfect English, service is fast and the food is delicious, cant believe I can have vegan/vegetarian version of traditional Czech food, but they make it possible here
The main dish was spinach chimney and it was sensationell as well as the starter plate and the dessert 🤩 You have many vegan options, too. The waiter was very friendly and helped us to choose the dish as the choice is hard hehe. To bad though he did not wanted to share the recipe from the yummy zucchini pesto 😉 I can highly recommend the Maitrea restaurant! The restaurant is furnished accordingly to Feng Shui so you will definitely feel good there. Cheers, Charlotte
I really wanted to give a five star rating but unfortunately it wasnt that good. First of all, the restaurant looks great, one of the best looking restaurants I have been to. The service is also good.Even though there are lots of vegan options in the menu, if you order the burger in its vegan version (and not the vegetarian oneyou get a different bun and no cheese (why is it not possible to have vegan cheese in a restaurant like this?). It also came with a very small portion of fries. In addition, we ordered a dish that includes a few starters from the menu and it was a real failure. The hummus were not tasty, the foie gras was not tasty, the avocado was, well, avocado, and only the zucchini pesto was really good. The dish is also pretty expensive and comes with very little bread and nachos.
Such an amazing place. It’s the prettiest restaurant I’ve been in in Czech Republic. The environment is just perfect, relaxed and with calmed music so you can have a conversation, the food is exquisite and you can feel the “homemade” style, and it’s vegetarian which is not easy to find in Prague. Also, I thought it was very cheap. I’m definitely coming back, I loved it!
Delicious! Love that they do veg versions of popular Czech dishes. We had the goulash, sirloin and side of potato gratin. Highly recommend them all. The sirloin is not what you expect (see pic), but dont let that put you off. Its one of those dishes you will think about and crave. Lovely space, great for date night and dont forget to book.
Amazing decor, lots of wood, plants and curvy shapes which reminds us of nature and gives a lovely harmony to the place overall. Great vegan food! Service is nice but could be a little friendlier from certain staff members.
Very nice restaurant for vegetarian/vegan people to have the possibility of local food. We had the goulash and the seitan roasts. Besides the food being good for a reasonable price the deserts are even better. Our service was quite fast and caretaking.Better make a reservation because its quite crowded.
I was absolutely starving by the time we found Matirea (it was a national holiday so everything was closed/the open breweries not offering vegan optionsso I was about 10 minutes away from eating my own arm, but, still, the food here was great! And thank you for being open on a holiday...The deco inside is really cool, eastern/Buddhism vibes, with Sanskrit (I think?on the walls and cosy lighting. The loos are downstairs and on the way I saw they have more seating and nice decorations but it was closed on this particular day.Seitan roast was tasty, even my omni boyfriend ate some. It wasnt what I was expecting—as you can see from the pic its more like shredded seitan or gyros/döner style than a big chunk or slices like a normal roast. But, it tasted good.Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the menu but from what I remember, it was a bit more expensive than the other vegan and non-vegan places we tried around the city.
As vegans we were highly disappointed by the food quality and taste, as well as the service itself. The gluten-free beer tasted off.We ordered the vegan version of the Paella and the Goulash with dumplings. At least we thought we get that...but instead of a Paella (that many people recommended in their reviewswe got a rice-mushroom-tofu mix with a plain taste. Not even the seasoning was in any way reminding of a Paella. For the Goulash that we ordered because we wanted the original Czech dumplings we got it served with plain potatoes instead, since the staff didnt inform us that the dumplings arent vegan. Directly when the food was served we complaint, but neither the kitchen took it back and let us choose an alternative, not die they compensate us on the final receipt. It was such a disappointment. However, there is a great vegan restaurant on the other side of the river just beneath the citys castle where we found fantastic fresh and delicious vegan food. But Maitrea? Thanks no, not again.
Lovely food, friendly staff. We had the menu to share for two and it was great. The best veggie burger we ever had! Very close to the best burger ever overall. Well be back
The Atmosphere was so great, just like the background music. And let me tell ya.. THE FOOD! So good! You can just tell it’s all homemade and it was truly delicious. a great vegetarian restaurant with a creative and refreshing menu!
Being a vegitarian voor 40 odd years Im always surprised when I find meals I havent tasted yet. IOW surprisingly goed veggie and vegan food. I especially liked the Raspberry Crumble. Good atmosphere, perfect service. Btw - the place was packed, so be early or book in advance.
Excellent! Likely the best vegetarian food in town - and also in general some of the very best! Very tasty! Friendly and welcoming service! Great indoor atmosphere and very fair prices!
