Maiden Tower, Baku, Azerbaijan, Saki
Built in the 12th century, this 30-m. stone Zoroastrian tower now houses a museum of local history.
One of the important historical place in Baku.
Beautiful place to visit. I love the view on the top! ❤️
Nice place with old building & history
It is a historic place go there for information and enjoy but inside is just fine
it an old tower from sixteenth century and part of old baku city. You can enter to the tower by 15 manath per head ticket.
Entrance fee is 15 Manat, 6 if you’re a student. Consists of 8 floors, each floor has its own story. Beautiful from the inside and the view is incredible. It’s located in the old souq, so very accessible and surrounded by a bunch of stores and restaurants.
Great romantic history behind the tower
I love the place I really did enjoyed to have walk in Madien the music and the atmosphere was amazing
One of the must see place in Baku. Very unique. Would be interesting for those who likes history.
Nice place to visit
Nice! Amazing views
Historical tower. Nice place to visit. However to go inside the cost of ticket is 15 manat per person for 6+ age.Inside you have to really climb up to the tower with really short ceiling. If you have good height or you have problem climbing the stairs I would recommend to avoid it.
Nice to visit if you are willing to climb 8 floor .Also they need to have an a/c units there . But at the roof you will enjoy the view.
Its situated in the old town of Baku. The area is well preserved. However, not worth visiting inside
Historical site worth visiting.
Nothing so special to see.! It just looks good in pictures.
Nice historical place, must visit in Baku
It was a new experience like Europe and places we have visited wonderful and people over here really so amazed very helpful and too friendly
Old Baku City,
Must see in Baku. Nice neighborhood with cozy restaurants.
Only because its at the top list of must do in baku we had to do it. Otherwise its not impressive. U should expect climbing around 125 stairs ( 8 floors).Buy the entry tickets from the info center right infront of the tower. Dont buy it from the standing men around. Its even cheaper.
Worth visiting for the views
First time I went inside an old watch tower, a good experience, there is nothing much in here which would justify 15 azn ticket.Difficult stairs, watch your head. View from the top is good.
Good place to visit if you’re ever in Baku
The place has increased the price to 15 manat to climb up a flight of spiral staircase to get to the roof? Total rip off. Just walk across to Cay Bagi 145 opposite and take photos from there after getting a cup of tea... Better!
Great Historical Place!Ticket office is only opened in day time. In night time it looks so beautiful with special lighting effects.
The most prominent structure of Old Baku. It is almost a symbol, an icon of Baku.
Very well preserved ancient monument in old town...
Has too many attraction and views from old to modern scenes.. Art is all over the place and its avenues
Maiden Tower is situated in Old Town of Baku, but its not that impressive if you look at it closely. The real purpose of this tower is still unknown. Its not that tall or unique in anyway. Each flight of stairs has some basic info to keep one informed, but then again its not exactly appealing or interesting enough. The price of entrance is not worth the experience.
Best thing about Baku is they are doing their best to preserve their history and culture. Maiden tower is maintained well and good place in old city.
Very beautiful place to take photos if you are visiting Baku.Didnt go up as the roof was closed due to strong wind.
Definitely one of the unmissable places with Baku, with a mysterious history and great views to the city.
Be sure to visit the castle and ask for guides there on the love story of this castle.
The Maiden Tower has a museum, which presents the story of historic evolution of the Baku city. There is also a gift shop on premises. The view from the top takes in the alleys and minarets of the Old City and the Boulevard.
One of the tourist attraction in Baku in old city. Was built in 12th century but is very well preserved and maintained. If you are interested in historical sites than you will enjoy. There are other historical areas well near the tower. Entrace fees is also applicable for both locals and international tourist though international tourists needs to pay more (2 vs 15 mannat). Food stalls and local souvenirs stalls are located within the vicinity makes the place more crowded.
Historic and wonderful tower in the middle of the city. Nice walking tour of the old town.
Amazing historical place in Baku, you have to visit this Tower its icon of Baku Old city, when you stand there you feel like the history is today not past...highly recommend to visit this place.
Its a wonderful place and in the middle of the old town. The old town reminds the old glory of the town. I really enjoyed visiting this place time and again. It has many nice streets and old palatial houses.
Beautiful. The tower has been described as the "most majestic and mysterious monument of Baku, the Gyz Galasy", built on solid rock foundation, demonstrates right on the coast line, a fusion of Arabic, Persian and Ottoman influences. It was constructed alongside a natural oil well. It is a cylindrical eight story structure that rises to a height of 29.5 metres (97 ftwith a base diameter of 16.5 metres (54 ft).A Byzantine emperor heard a prophecy telling him that his beloved daughter would die at the age of 18 by a snake. So he decided to put her in this tower built on a rock on the Bosphorus isolated from the land thus no snake could kill her. Thus the name.
Located at the old city wall , one of the most popular buildings at the city , cost 15 manat to go inside and look to the city from up ,15 manat almost 10 USD . The area around have alot of antiques shops .
First of all, the price is a rip off. In the past, they used to have a beautiful exhibition with Azeri folklore and historical objects. Now its all holograms and some brief explanations on walls. You basically pay to get a nice view over the city. And it does have a lovely view! But the people who work there are very rude and impolite, you should work on the attitude in front of guests.
The Maiden Tower is the oldest structure in Baku’s old walled city. No one is entirely sure when it was built, or for what purpose, or even the origins of the name. Many experts believe the tower was completed in the 12th century. According to the legend, a king’s daughter who took her own life by jumping off the top of the tower to escape from a marriage of strategic convenience. It became a UNESCO site in 2000. You get a great view of the city from the top of the tower.
15 to get up. 7-8 floors with a view of Baku. Skip this if you are tight on budget. Not many artifacts and better view from hotels.
Possibly Baku’s most prominent landmark, and the souvenirs shown all across the city seem to testify to my sentiment. Make sure you explore the site and grab a good photo before you move along.
Historic tower in the old town of Baku. Annoying because entry price for foreign citizens is significantly more expensive than it is for Azeri citizens. Not very stimulating for tourists.
Very nice historical place in BakuYou have to buy a ticket worth of 12 Manat per person for entry for Maiden Tower.Worth a visit but you have to be ready for some stairs but at the end the view from the roof is stunning
Nice view of the city, but quite expensive I would say, 12 manats. Not much inside the monument, more the view.
One of my best places in Baku..The museum inside might be small but nice and staff are very friendly and informative , the view from up is great. The atmosphere around it and in the old town is takeing you back in time.It is located in the center of the city so you can do many things later like walk to the boulevard , have a meal , walk to the old town or shopping for souvenirs.
The tower has eight floors and a miniature museum. On the last floor you can see the city from the top and we have a lot of sightseeing.Admission is 8 manat per person
