Family-friendly zoo with reptile house, sea lion show & small farm plus playground & restaurant.
This zoo is not huge, but big enough to surprise with its inhabitants. Definitely recommend to visit it.I want to highlight the local restaurant, that worth your time as well!As for the auto parking - there are no plenty of spaces, but it is free just in front of the zoo entrance.
Perfect place for a quick getaway from the city.
Amazing place
Even though its a small zoo, we enjoyed it a lot. Our daughter had fun and its appropriated for a family trip.
A Perfect day with kids. Many different spieces of snakes
Small with lots of amazing animals
Went before our flight home as it is fairly close to airport ao it was a nice way to wrap our trip up. To our suprise the zoo was empty. I think there was another family but other than that no visotors just staff. The zoo has a lot to offer from big cats to reptiles and for thay price it was really good. We spent just under 2 hours there which gaves enough time to see all animals witha few breaks to rest. The only thing that makes me mark this review down was the bear. As many other bears in zoos, this obe showed signs of mental hardship, such as pacing back and forth, as well as looking a bit malnourished. If it wasnt for the bear, which was a really sad sight, I would have rayed this higher.
The experience was great, a small Zoo; however, very nice place, well maintained and clean. The animals seems to very well care at my poor knowledge because of their friendly behavior and feedings ( what Ive observe carefully at my visit). The tiny skeleton museum they have its so instructive and cool, so if you have kids these is one of the places inside the zoo you cant missed to check!Overall my visit was very satisfying and the entrance is a cheap price( cheaper than I thought ).Worth to go,YES, I DO RECOMMEND!
Absolutely amazing ,the best place in Portugal really liked it, really recommend it,Its very very cheap and there are not so many poeple out there, theres literally everything there, and the animals are being treated very good !!!!
Very beautiful place for the family, specially for kids. With plenty of animals in very good conditions and places to eat cheap and to make picnic.
Small Zoo but very well cared. Spaces first you and your child to enjoy together!
This a relatively small zoo. Its fine if your expectations are low. Dont expect a big zoo. Lots of people smoking inside or not wearing a mask, despite being forbidden. Its still fun if you have small children.
Maia zoo was amazing. At first we thought it was small, but it is not. Zebras, lions, reptile House, falcon show, sea lion, etc. All there and even a collection of skeletons.Highly recommended, and an added bonus that its cheap at €7.50 for an adult.
So menu animals I thought it was a small zoo 😂 but no its better than a peting zooIts awesome
A great place for kids, well kept animal enclosures, reasonably priced, helpful staff. Clean safe tidy place. A credit to Maia
This zoo is easy to access and it has a good price when considering the kind of wild animals you will see. There are tigers ( i only saw the white tiger but it says the orange one is also therelions, zebras, a brown bear, snakes, monckeys, lemurs, flamingoes and others. There is no elephants or giraffes. It feels like the animals live in a compact space...
Its a good Zoo with a very easy access point and its really cheap. Worth the trip. The only downside was the lack of a souvenir shop
Perfect size set up. Small, yet diverse. Clean, kind staff, shady. We were there for 5 hours (!and werent bored for one second. With a friend, a 6 year old boy and a 14 year old girl. Loved it. Special thanks to the tiger lady 🥰
The place is quite calm on working days, I suggest visiting it on these days if youre not interested in crowds.
Its a small Zoo, really enjoy getting back at it from time to time. Not too impressive, but has great conditions and you can tell they genuinely care for animals.
Well organised. Plenty of shadows and the main event (sea lionwas great.
Nice zoo, a lot of good sights for children. It is small and rather crammed, though
Really nice zoo! I was expecting it to be very small but it was not that small. Some sports were empty, they seem to do a bit of remodeling, still enough to see. Lots of animals you can take beautiful pictures of! Some are a bit in hiding like the brown bear or the amazing white Tiger.Nice bird show, did not understand a thing because it was in Portugese but loved the owls
Nice small zoo. My kids loved it. The large animals are ok. The birds are very nice, specially the owls and eagles. Also the reptiles are very nice. There are lots of places for picnic and a very good restaurant.
Cool story bro
Such an amazing time my family and I had. High trees giving us loads of shade on a sunny day and such lovely animals. Kids had so much fun. From entering the great service of the staff and the smiles , well that just continued all day long.
Cozy zoo, the animals are well maintained and the paths are in decent shape. You have a bar and a restaurant. Unfortunately we couldnt attend any of the shows or the reptilarium due to the covid-19 regulations .Will be back to visit when it reopens.
A small zoo, but at least its easy accessible from Porto in the low season. Nice personnel!
Lovely place, enjoyed bird show and sea lion show very much. It also hosts skeletons of different animal species.
Very adorable place to spend a day. Very calm and the animals are treated well.
A bit of a let down. Very pricey. Coffee shop outside of zoo did not even acknowledge our presence. Very disappointing.
Very small. But not very expensive either. You can see everything in 1h if you are slow.
Its a beautiful little park with a diversity of animals. I think the "Maians" can be very proud. The lions, tiger & bear are the biggest ones Ive ever seen this up close and personal.Nico the sea lion stole the show and made a lot of kids very happy. Beware the front row during the show is in his "splash line... "😉Lots of educational selections to combine a great day with the family while getting a bit more educated on the beautiful world we live in.I went twice during the day and realized that the animals are a bit more energetic in the morning. No pictures this time because its worth it to see the park with your own eyes!
Great place to be with family. Preferably on a week day as well as its not as busy and you can let you toddler run around.Definitely recommend it for a day out.
Greatly surprised about this zoo!It doesnt look like much from the outside, but this park hosts a good amount of impressive, healthy and happy looking animals such as lions, a white tiger, a brown bear, zebra, different types of primates and a good collection of reptiles and snakes. The park itself looks understated but the animals look incredibly healthy and well fed.Low price of admission and not busy at all, even on the weekend. Please mind that we visited on a grey and cloudy Saturday in November. The park is very easily reachable from Porto by 25 minute Metro ride and a short walk.Recommended when visiting Porto for more than a couple of days. Please note: zoo staff typically speaks English and likely Spanish too, but the park itself (signs, audio guideis only available in Portuguese.
Really nice zoo. We spent a couple of hours there with our kids. They were happy and liked all these sea lions, monkeys, birds, zebras and etc. it’s possible to attend a performance with birds inside. Also, they have a nice playing yard for your kids. And it isn’t pricy. We paid 20€.
Small size zoo, children friendly for a nice short afternoon. The lions and the huge bear are particularly impressive.
Great zoo and Very nice place the truth is not very big but being more economical I think it also Ideal for a walk during the weekend. Is not expensive.
Great space for kids. A few rare and protected animals.
Great zoo to take children and kids !!! Lots of trees and shades. Very good sea lion show ! Not an exausting walk like Miami Zoo. Very friendly and affordable. Good bar and restaurant in loco. I recommend it to children and adults !!!
Wonderfull zoo..there are 2 shows..first for Sea_lion and other for Birds..Landscape charmy..and there are some animales first time i had seen in my life..such the white tiger and other small monkeys and birds
Nice place to visit with the family. You can expect to see tigers, lions and some inusual animals. It as free parking and good conditions overall. Gets overcrowded fairly easy, small space after all. Try visit in the morning.
Small zoo. But good animals.good for kids. Dont miss the seal and bird shows. Plan around 2.30 to start with a bird show and leave by 4pm with a seal show at 3.30pm
Very organised and the staff is very friendly! We loved it
You can have fun in here, even if the quantity of species isnt big. Its fun for people. But I dont think the animals were having fun. First of all, the natural habitats for most of them were outside of Europe and it dindt seem to me that they had the correct environment surrounding them. Then, most of the cages had different animals (deers with chickens, alligators with turtles). Then you have the lack of space in each cage. The bear was notably nervous and kept walking in circules, having no space more space to walk. The seal, even though it was extremely funny and intelligent, made me pity him because of the lack of space to swim. And last, but not least, (actually, what disturbed me the most)... It seemed to me that the big animals like the lions, some of the monkeys, the tigers, etc were sedated. Im not sure of this, ofc, but it really seemed like they were.Anyway, as I said before, good and fun for people, not really good for animals exposed.
Good place to take kids for a walk
The zoo if very close to the metro. That is the main reason to go there instead the other zoo near porto which I didnt find information for public transportation. As I heard the second are better. It is small zoo with mainly birds parots and monkies. There is one white tiger, lion, zebras and some more animals. There is show with seal which is nice.
A fun little zoo, that could really use the extra people there:)Great prices and a large number of different species for such a confied place
Its a nice litle zoo. The animals seem well treated and they have small shows with seals and parrots. However, they should have a map of the zoo.
Its a small zoo with almost every animal. The environment is awesome for kids. You could spend an all afternoon inside it.
