1 Dover St, Mayfair, London W1S 4LD, Urambo
Cocktail bar and club, popular with celebrities, serving tropical-themed drinks and light bites.
I was suprised at how small and tacky it was inside, to be honest. Massively expensive too; I paid £27 for two drinks. The cocktail I had was distinctly average, the staff werent particularly friendly and the service wasnt great. Big thumbs down from me, Im afraid.
Bought a cocktails experience a couple of weeks ago and have tried to get it booked every day since. After multiple emails and calling every day I have not heard a word or any kind of response.Recommend not getting this voucher
Superb cocktails, exceptional staff. Boring clientele apart from our table of course. They all looked like underage college girls who didnt care what bar they were drinking at. Music got too thumping and loud at around 11, very nice before that. More Tiki less disco please!
Went there for a private party and it was a quirky cool venue.Seems a little dated in its location but spacious over Two floors. They had catered food and it was of a high standard. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The toilets (menswere not the nicest I have seen in Mayfair.
Got ripped off last night for a Monday night they charged us £9.2 for half shots and £22.25 for single vodka with red bull there was a lady with red hair took advantage of us being drunk. I would recommend you not try it.
The house cocktail is good be prepared to pay for it - its Mayfair. However the dance floor on the first floor is very small - Ive never been downstairs . Dont go if empty all the waiters do is stare at you.
Drinks aren’t too expensive considering the location. Personally I think the music is bleh (been a few times), but at least it’s not too hard to get a table if you arrive early. Staff are quite friendly and patient.
Mixed experience. Nothing was brilliant mostly ok. Place looks a little tired (nothing bad). Our event organisers had some issues but they were resolved. Cocktails are expensive. The Old Fashioneds I ordered were terrible. The worst Ive ever had and at £18 each didnt sit well. To be fair an Old Fashioned us difficult to make but either make them well or not at all. £18 each for a bad one is poor form
Came here for a Xmas after-party. As someone used to going to "common" nightclubs, this more exclusive venue proved a much better night out.Interior is lovely - certainly no sticky floors in this club! Sparklers give you a great experience whilst your drinks are served to your table by the bartenders.Bathrooms are generally clean, and lotion is provided so you can moisturise your hands after washing them. The DJ was fantastic. Liked the R&B genre, as well as the fact that the songs werent heavily remixed. I just wish Id taken more photos! Thanks Mahiki for a super Christmas night out!
I don’t know what I was expecting, but having googled the meaning of ‘Mahiki’ I was expecting something more...I went here with a works Christmas party, it’s been a while (16 yearssince I’ve been ‘clubbing’ in this postcode, there’s nothing wrong with the place but of course I didn’t have to deal with bouncers or bar prices, it’s just a bit weird.... very low ceilings, weird 1970’s wicker furniture and the smallest toilet (that I couldn’t find for ages). Also the main turkey meal was tiny.If I was a celebrity I don’t think I would go here...I’m glad I don’t need to go clubbing any more, once a year is enough for me.
Awfully rude staff who actually bulldozed his way past my friend to show a couple to their table. I would understand if it was to stop a fight or something but there was no need for this. The card machines went down a few times so we couldnt buy drinks because not many of us carry cash these days. The toilets were disgusting. There were only two female toilets and one of them was blocked. The toilet attendant kept asking for money. Wouldnt recommend to anyone.
The architecture of the bar was nice enough but the staff was unfriendly and even rude or hostile, if we are being quite honest. A group of students from my university in the U.S. and I went to this bar on a Monday night (a Monday night!!!and we were among the only individuals in the place, but all of the men (just the menin our group each had to pay an entrance fee of 10 pounds at the door. This cover charge is not advertised on their website and probably varies either night to night or just at the whim of the employees; it didnt feel legit to me. Cover charges are perhaps understandable when the demand to be let in somewhere is high (and thus tables are at a premium, but such did not feel like the case here. The drinks were also overpriced - you cant get anything below 12 pounds and most drinks were more expensive than that, but maybe that is standard for London. Also, it is not a "bar and a club," it is just a bar. I looked it up after and found out that the bar is well-known for its celebrity patrons and has a mostly "egalitarian" policy of letting in everyone, but, at least on weeknights, I am not sure what people want to be let in for.
Was popping in for drinks after dinner st the MKY house. I asked the lady at the door if it was busy, and she was plain rude, saying “I don’t have super vision” in kid like tone.Went downstairs and wasn’t many people. Was like at 8-9pm on Friday. May pick up later but we left without ordering because of the bad service at the door.
I literally WANT the sinks in their bathroom!! They looked like actual sea shells! Loved it! Love the whole decor of this place, its SO cool. Id make the cocktails smaller though, as I dont like massive measures of one drink...I prefer to try lots of different cocktails, rather than be stuck with a pint of something I may not like.
Upbeat music & mixed crowd.Bartenders were a bit hit & miss, some spent more time flirting inappropriately with female customers than serving.Others remade classic cocktails to suit themselves as they believed it was better that way.Pricing was high for entry and drinks, but given the location this was normal. However the smoking area was just outside the club on the street , where you were continuously hassled by people trying to either sell you cigarettes & roses. Or just plain begging for money.
Mahiki isnt a bad place, from Door staff to the staff in the club they are easy going people. The place is for everyone for any age and to be honest that how it should be. They make good cocktails and serve a good variety of spirits and shots. The play a mixture of good music which makes it a good night with people with you.
Nice venue, great atmosphere. Good ratio. Choice of different music on the lower ground level. Was a little bit smelly in the dance section - guys if youre going to sweat it out please use deodorant. Entrance was £15.
Went on Thurs night after not been for a few years as it went down hill, we all have a great time it was busy but not packed, nice to see improvement with staff.
Well the stars are for the lovely cultural decor and music.... other than that our group was completely disappointed. If youre okay with spending from £8-£14 a single fancy looking cup of crushed ice, squeezed lemon and a skewered cherry ontop, then this is the place for you... when we arrived it was not so full... which was nice enough for us to settle in, our coats were collected by a gentleman who brings you a ticket from cloakroom. Trying to get served around here was just ridiculously long... waiters/waitresses were passing back and forth, but didnt take notice of our group waiting. However they notice empty cups on te table. They messed up a couple times with orders, offered to give us shots... we thought great a chance to win us over.... sadly we yet was let down again... it had no alcohol in it lol....pure juice. So fast forward to billing, we requested service charge taken off since its optional and we were not satisfied with anything they offered us. The cheeky staff member than rudely told us to pay at till since we not paying service charge while holding the card terminal in her hand... like WOW!! REALLY?! It just was not a hood experience at all but were a group that will still have fun wherever we go... we made most of the music played. I really think they shouldnt be taking our polynesian cultures and covering it over their walls and not living up to an islanders expectation... its nothing at all what it seems in the pics and profile they promote
More like platter food so me and my friend ordered almost the while menu. Tasty food good service, friendly staff. Not too sure about the cocktails as they were not too alcoholic. But that aside the major problem was the chairs! OMG they were so uncomfortable I tell you my dress kept getting caught in the straws just so annoying hated them seats I really hope Mahiki does something about them.
Just the rudest place. The bar staff were SO RUDE and nasty. Then tried to sneakily charge service charge for one drink. When I refused to pay service charge (due to how rude they’d beenthey got very hostile. The bouncer told my friend off for her dance moves (the worm), when I asked why she (the bouncerstarted screaming at me in an aggressive, threatening and completely unnecessary way. Just the rudest place (especially considering the pricesI have ever been to. Will NEVER go back and recommend you do not waste your money on a visit. Very average night and MUCH better places in the area.
Fun place. Wouldnt recommend if you are tall as quite low ceilings as the whoke establishment is in the basement levels. Drinks are regular London prices for cocktails etc. Quiet during the week nights where there isnt special things booked in.
Had a great experience here with amazing service.Came for my friends 22nd Birthday and we started upstairs with drinks and food then moved down to the club later on in the night.I had the devils ukulele and another tropical vodka based drink. Both were tasted great and the cups which they came in had some interesting designs. To eat I had the prawn and crab gyozas along with the grilled chicken. Both were really nice and came fairly quickly. The service was great, our waiter James was really friendly and as it was my friends birthday game him a free drink but also provided us with free shots throughout the night. Also near whilst we were upstairs my friend had ordered some sushi but a waiter took our order to another table by mistake. James then made sure we got our sushi but also took it off our final bill. For prices it is what youd expect for a London bar in Mayfair. Perhaps even a little cheaper. Cocktails ranged from £9-£16 or you could get big ones to serve 3 people from £30-£45. However, once you move on down to the club the prices increase heavily and youll find yourself spending around £18 for a single Jager bomb. Luckily whilst in the club section our friend James was still about and providing us with free shots which was really nice.Overall base on the food and drinks Id give this place a 4/5 but with the service it bumps it up to a 5/5 rating. Will definitely be back again!
Staff noticeably not as friendly as at other similar clubs. 12.5% service charge added on when ordering drinks from the bar in the club area - even just for a glass of wine! Food and drink in restaurant area very nice, although they served the iconic ukulele sharer cocktail in a plain big red fishbowl rather than the ukulele which was slightly underwhelming.. music was fun in the club. Not in a rush to go back!
Wouldn’t recommend at all. Booked with promoter for large party and once we got there, only let first 5 of us ladies in, and none of my other friends who were mainly of Asian ethnicity. Tried to tell them they had to start paying £100 per head or £1000 for a table despite having booked. They still let other white males into the club including the only white male in our guest list for who paid £15 and not £100 and he was further down the queue. Then as we spoke to the lady at the door, she continued to refuse to let them in but not giving any justification as to why, trying to pin the blame on us. Next day, the promoter messaged trying to also blame us as the reason for not getting in because of drunkenness but this wasn’t the case at all, as half our group don’t drink alcohol in the first place.
Great atmosphere and the DJ was superb. I was surprised though that you pay service charge on cocktails, where there is No service. You order your drink at the bar, its not like they bring you a cocktail to your table with complementary nibbles. So why charge for service that is not provided? I was not happy about it.
Great place, great music, amazing cocktails and even the food is nice! Cant expect more from a nightclub! Well located in the heart of London just outside Green Park underground station!
I don’t understand this place would get an average rating of lower than 4. For me, this place is a solid 5 for the drinks and the atmosphere. Great attention to details always amazes me, and this place doesn’t disappoint. Even the sinks in the bathroom are in the shape of a giant scallop shell, totally committing to the ocean character. About the drinks, they are all very delicious. To quote the waiter: “they are all very tropical, citrusy”. All the characters that you need for a great tiki bar that serves good tiki drinks.
This place looks amazing, there two floors one more chilled, where you can chat have a drink and dance there are sofas and you can have a conversation. The second floor is dark and made for party hard.Cons drinks are very expensive and entrance is around 15 pound per person
Kitchy and very fun place with friendly staff. Mayfair prices, but entertaining.
The host was odd and made a weird and sharp comment about having told me not to put my coat in the cloakroom. We had the beach hut to ourselves which was nice. But there was no music in the main area, just an awful buzzing, the cocktails are made with their house rum, which is just a cheaper version of Malibu. The hut with karaoke was fun and we had a good time. But I wouldn’t go back, had a tacky aesthetic. Also they kick you out of your booking very promptly! Even when there’s no one after you and you’re buying drinks - to put us in the silent buzzing area! Manager seemed like he was trying to sort it.
Average cocktails at best, overpriced. The decor is very nice, rather loud singer singing songs completely out of theme for a tiki bar. Slow service, overstaffed. Rude manager wearing a coat inside?
Not great service, quite slow & staff seemed busy talking to themselves. Quite disappointing for the high prices.Security looked wired because I was not overdressed like others & they seemed to think twice about if they want to let me in. Live music was totally unsuitable for the style of the bar. Overall the atmosphere & treatment of the staff towards me & my partner, were quite disappointing. Especially rude was the moment I was drinking my drink & a staff member comes up to me to ask that we leave the table as there is a reservation coming any minute. No reserved sign what so ever & there where plenty of tables free as there were barley customers there.I had quite heigh expectations as I am a bar manager myself, I am just purely disappointed.
The place is really nice, very fancy, music choice is worthy of a club, the song are really good you wont get bored, everyone is dressed posh, fun birthday experiences and cool arrangements for them. Make sure to bring passport or official country ID or else they wont let you in which is a downside they should accept university ID or drivers license because those should be enough to prove we are above 18.
Excellent to see DJ from @Radio1 invite us to Mayfair for DJ Taj Jackson from 3T- Jackson Family Band member’s birthday party.. thanx @Radio1 @ZoeBall..
Me and my friend had a great night! Not sure what happened with the shot prices but the cocktails were great, the venue is awesome - cool and classy, the DJ was remixing some Classics and Im a bit old school so I prefer when they dont cut them too much lol ... we thought the staff were helpful and respectful and the promoter who put us on the guest list was attentive! So much space to dance <3
Very disrespectful club staff. Upon mentioning that a lot of patrons are behaving disrespectfully to women even after told that their advances are not welcome, they did not care. I would expect higher exclusivity from a “high end club”, it is not found. Single ladies, avoid. Unless unwelcome groping and uncaring staff is your thing.
Ive been invited for a social events which it was placed on the first floor and we had a nice time with free drinks on arrival. Place was really flowery with nice decoration and cocktails! After we moved in the basement which is more looks like a club with dark lights and Dj played nice music too.
Just a discoclub.. I was expecting more from a "tiki bar". Only the furniture reminds it, not surely the Hip hop music. Cocktail in the average nothing surprising.
I was warned by a friend whom been there about going there for the bad service and bad music . I still thought I will give it a go and I regret it . Going there on Valentines Day is a bad idea . Waste of time . Awful awful music , its more like songs that u dont hear anywhere else . Very old music and awful service at the bar . Drinks over priced . £14 for a drink .Invest your time & money somewhere else . Not worth it at all . Its one of them places you need to get drunk to enjoy the music . Flirty bouncers . Even being in the Guestlist had to pay £15 entry though they lied & said its free to get us going there . I wished I stayed home instead . It was that bad !!
The fishbowls are the highlight of this place. Staff were good and attentive. We were the largest spending table of the night though so this might be why..
Once I’ve paid £15 to get into a bar/club I’d rather not have to queue for 30mins to pay £70 for 4 drinks. Needs more staff on the bar and bigger bar areas. Slightly concerned with the H&S aspect too, I know they’re indoor sparklers but that just means they’re smokeless, carrying them above head height in a basement with a low ceiling clad in wood is asking for a fire. Also ridiculously hot inside when busy, the air conditioning units can’t cope. Sorry, not as good as I was hoping.
A nice place for partying on a weekend. Great interiors , great cocktails served in innovative fruit containers like pineapple-coconut etc at reasonable prices. The place is not too crowded but is super energetic energetic. One of the must visit clubs of London.
Easy to get in which surprised us, friendly security and the stamp man was cool, he gave me extra UV stamps on request!! Clientele ...bang average, lots of room to dance though inside, its aesthetically very pleasing & they have super cool cocktail cups!
Really cool theme, its fantastic what theyve achieved with the place. The cocktails are also amazing. Only downside is that it is expensive, and you have to watch out as the bar adds an extra 12.5% service fee on drinks, even if youre just getting a coke poured.
Terrible noise when no one is dancing and people are trying to talk.Terrible prices for basic drinks.Good service and nice food.
Its popularity I think is more to do with the location more than the service. Its located in Mayfair and their prices reflect this. I would say that they need to pay attention to the hygiene of there glasses.
Well I was very dubious after reading the reviews and l think l know why. We had the whole 2nd level in the club for an event. The cocktails were delicious the barmen attentive and overall a great experience. However when we went to get our coats at level one thats a different experience more crowded more bouncers everywhere and a completely different atmosphere. The lady in the queue in front of me having her jacket go missing from a previous visit. so in summary if you are going for an event you will probably have a great time if you are popping in as a regular customer you might find not quite as enjoyable.
Extremely slow experience, however this is made up for by the taste of the drinks. Very beachy vibe with fun, exotic music. Big venue, pricey on entry which isnt great. Very clean and welcoming. Bar staff are edgy and fun and very good at making drinks! Very different tasting drinks which are highly addictive! Load your wallet before arrival.
The only reason the atmosphere was good was because I brought 20 friends along. However, their service was one of the worst in London. I am a relatively patient individual who tolerate quite alot of abuse. However, the staff at Mahiki managed to ruin it..I made a booking about a month ahead for a birthday party to get one of their private rooms. (£1000 min spend). 2 days before the event, they called me to tell me that one of their managers wanted the room and told us to that they could give us one of the normal tables. They did not try to be nice about it. They just told me, take it or leave it.. I mean, what kind of arrogance ??? However, I just told them that I do not mind. When I arrived at the club, they did not let the birthday boy in. Everyone else was good to enter. but not him.. Why? Because he looked too young even though he was 23. Even after we told them it was his birthday. After about 20 minutes of talking to the manager and threatening to just leave en mass, they relented.Once in, the drinks came slowly though we preorder 2k worth of drinks. They did not allow the cake to be brought out because it was not part of their service even though they agreed to take delivery of the cake. All in all, I think that they could definitely improve a lot in the service side. One thing is good though, they have excellent cocktails and is at a good location.. Good for going by yourself. But absolutely terrible to go in a group or for a party.
