Traditional Indian cuisine served in a fanciful dining room with fake-tree sculptures.
Maharani in Zürich (Kreis 12)
Description
Privilege
Dingy was the first feel, we too a dinner as a part of the tour package with MMT. Landed up around 9.00 pm. Owned by an Indian, however In the name of Indian food they pass on anything... The chicken was hard. From the looks and feel to food everything looked dingy... Avoid if possible.
MoreCame here on the recommendation of a friend. Wish I hadn’t.Restaurant it’s easels is decorated in a Manner which makes it feels really dark. Fake trees and other bits just gathering dust.Food was horrible. Idli was frozen and warmed up.Some one on our table saw the lady do this. Tasted rank.Asked for some warm water and they gave us boiling hot water.Service was shockingly slow. There was no one else in the place so no reason for this. Food was lukewarm when served. Seemed to be all warmed in a microwave.Coca Cola was out of date. I thought it tasted funny and looked at the date to see it was expired. There weren’t many in the restaurant. I can see why.Never visiting again.
MoreOne of the best Indian cuisine restaurant in Zurich. Ambience was so cute and cozy. As the weather was so cold the staff served us hot and tasty food. We went here for dinner. They had both veg aswell as nonveg menu. They had a buffet and very sorted menu. The chicken curry was so yummy. Most recommended restaurants in Zurich.
MoreGreat Indian food options.
excellent food and service
Food was excellent, showed they cared so much. Restaurant owner was truly humble. Thank you.
MoreThe timings of the restaurant showing on google is 11 pm so i reached the restaurant at 10:15 pm & it was closeIt the duty of the owner to make the correction at the google n google also has the responsibility to check with the restaurant
MoreVery nice
As per location the food was good.
Worst service and the food is average
Really friendly service, good portions, spacious place, great food and comfortable ambience
MoreGreat restaurant! I had dinner with my partner in this excellent restaurant and we really enjoyed our evening. Food was delicious and "authentically" Indian (I found back the different tastes I had the opportunity to taste during my stay in South India in Chennai). The decoration of the restaurant is amazing and the waitress was really nice, very attentive. Well go back in this restaurant with pleasure.
MoreVery cool place, well decorated ! Good food and nice service.
Food is delicious...Owner is not flexible....
We had a take out at this restaurant. It has nice ambiance and decor. Food is a bit on the sweet side. Nan and roti is really nice. We end up having some left over roti, and it retained its softness till the next day.
MoreI was pleasantly surprised. Chicken masala was one of the best that I have, with fresh herbs and spices. I could not find anything bad abut it. This is not Micheline restaurant, so I dont understand those bad reviews. Point is that it was seasoned to my expectations, packaging was good, portion was nice, price is average for this quality. Thank you, I will order again.
MoreThe food and service were both very good!
Awesome food and service... Nice people and nice owner... Well behaved staff... Must place to eat indian food..
MoreGreat place to have Indian food when your outside, lovely concept of buffet with an Indian Sweet at the end.
MoreGood Indian foodNice tree sculptures. You can find several deity photos hereAroma is good here
MoreVery authentic Indian restaurant run by Suresh Patel and his lovely wife. Located in the heart of the residential area in Zurich, one should not miss this restaurant for khichadi kadhi !!!Restaurant has an outdoor seating and another area where there is an indoor tree !!!Located on the first floor its got ample seating and parking.
MoreGreat place for authentic Indian food. The owner is a very friendly person and customise the food as per your preference.
MoreIt is a Indian Restaurant, the food served here is of good quality.
Great place to find authentic Indian cuisine in Switzerland
A worst Restaurant in Zurich. Very Bad Food. The owner of the Restaurant talk with customers with rudly. He has no respect for customers. I suggest never go there for food. I never give a single star to this Restaurant.
MoreWould even rate it lower if there was a chance. Hopeless attitude just living off Indian Tour buses. They put up a front as if they are obliging us with some Indian food ---nothing hospitable --neither the place nor the service... they just usher in hordes of tourists down two levels below the impressive front reserved for pricey guests and the place is nothing beyond a dungeon where food is served as if served to prisoners in cellular jail. Poorly decorated with saree drapes and food served with plastic tubs...am sorry but Best to avoid if you are in a group tour especially!!!
MoreBad experience ever. I went there with my group, we were 8 ppl. our tour organiser had already booked it for us but when we arrived there they treated us very rudely and they were serving us the food which was prepared for another group. Basically we were getting served leftover food and they were behaving like they r doing any favour by giving us d food. We left d restaurant immediately. Their behavior was awful. Even after paying if we get such type of service then it is so sick of them.
MoreMost worst restaurants I ever gone .I prefer to die atleast eating at that third class restaurant. Please dont go.
MoreWe a grp of 18 travelling on group tour requesting for khichdi khadi n it was there with 3 requesting for no onion garlic also doneThats great
MoreIts pleasure to be there.Homely food, what else we need at any restaurant.
Best food and owner very sweet people....
I wish i could give negative rating for this restaurant, food which received was very bad in taste and service was pathetic. On top of that, prices are sky high.
MoreExcellent taste and served hot. Must try restaurant if you are looking for Indian menu.
MoreI noticed that there are some Indian excursions stopping around here and that they always go to this restaurant. That sounded like a good sign to me.But when I went there with my friend, the way we were received was very unwelcoming. We felt like we were being imposing ourselves just by being there and being a pain instead of the normal treatment a restaurant should give its clients. There was an open buffet on this day, the food was ok, but a bit expensive for what it was, but at least we could have seconds, otherwise it would have been a totally bad experience.I dont know if it was just a bad time for us to go there and they were being overwhelmed people or if in other days people are better received. Otherwise I can only imagine that this restaurant keeps itself open with deals with excursions whose people are unaware of other options in the city.
MoreGood restaurant but average hygiene and food quality
Good indian restaurant...
Long awaited menu... so nicely served.. Wonderfull.. full compliment
Good Indian Food. Also has WiFi for the customers.
Indian food is just about OK, not much of taste. For hungry soils looking for India. Food, this should be just be fine.
MoreReal Indian food served by locals. Good value on the buffet! Many locals eating there which is always a good sign!
MoreVery good food and service.. better than some good restaurants back in India.. had Soup, Dhal Maharani, paneer makhani, roti.. enjoyed the food to the last bit.. worth visit when you are in Zurich..
MoreWe went there in August this year, twice, the staff are very professional and the food is of a very high quality... Definitely recommend for large groups...
MoreI am often skeptical about 1 and 5 star reviews: I am only skeptical about the 5 star ones here. This is a restaurant designed only to rip off tour bus tourists and please Swissies and their love of the bland.
MoreFood quality is like a bad take away and expensive. All premade and it seams not freshmade at all.
MoreFood was pathetic when we ordered Thali. It was surely frozen food. On another occasion had a special Buffet. They charged full price for even a kid under 4 years. As someone else has said. Not a place where I would like to go again.
MoreNice people, excellent food and the best indian restaurant in town! A must-see and must-taste for everyone!
Moreits an excuse for indian food. And as mentioned in earlier reviews this is a restaurant where you dont want to go for a second time.we were 8 indian guys and none of us liked the food!
MoreWouldnt recommend to anyone. As mentioned by Gregor in his review, the places thrives on indian tour buses. The quality, taste and service issues reinforces the fact that they do not intended or expect to get repeat guests. So highly priced and yet tastes like S***. And they were not polite either.Luckily I do not stay anywhere near them and we stopped while passing by. Please stay away.
MoreIn a town not blessed with authentic indian food, this place stands out. The hordes emerging from the regular indian tour buses explain why the place is cavernous but usually empty. While the stamp of approval from those tours speaks to the authenticity, it also creates service problems, as you can go unnoticed for long stretches while an invasion is going on. Unlike most indian places, Maharani ventures beyond the ubiquitous northern indian cuisine and offers some dishes from Kerala. Prices are quite high, even when you arent having drinks.
