Maharaja - Indian restaurant in Qormi, Malta
Nice ambience. The food was okay. The vegetable biryani was a bit oily. Mango lassi is quite good. Nice staff!
Staff were nice but understanding was bit of an issue, prices are quite high and wait for food was quite long eventhough not that busy. Food was okay though.
Great food and service and good prices. Never disappoints. Will surely be back 😊
Bad experience !!! Unfortunately, zero stars cannot be given. After being, my mom and I ordered two dishes (one eachwhich were vegetable based noodles and a vegetable based rice and a portion of chips to share. After waiting 50 minutes (the restaurant wasnt even full enough to justify the waitthe waitress comes to our table stating that they dont have noodles, so we ordered something else. In the end, after waiting more than an hour (we even ran out of a whole jug of water while waitingwe decide to ask for the bill. After that, they speeded up a bit and brought us the two dishes after 10 minutes. Unfortunately, as it got really late, the hunger was gone so we asked to bring the leftover food home with us.Today (therefore the day afterat lunch we decide to open the leftover food and, opening the container, we find a dead fly inside .... we had to throw everything away.
You must order 2 days before, too long time to take order and more long time to get your food and when you speak with workers they dos not answer you. Very bad restaurant
Very long time to get your food and when you speak with workers they dos not answer you, bad very very bad
We had take-away from this restaurant. Its one of the best Indian restaurants on the island. Portions are not so generous. Prices are a little on the high side.
Wow what a service and the food was amazing. Will surely go again.
Its authentic, too good to miss honestly!
Ver nice place to eat authentic Indian food full of flavours.Unless you book it will be difficult to find a table, we had to wait 20 mins but it was worth it.The service was good and friendly, the delivery of food was nicely timed for a good dining experience, music was at a level where a conversation can be had.My personal recommendation is the grilled liver, which chicken cooked in a tandoor
Perfect environment, delicious dishes and smiley stuff! One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been!!!
Good food and good service
Excellent food and great service. We ate here on consecutive nights!
Food was flavourful and staff was really nice 👌
We wanted to try somewhere new for Indian food and this place did not disappoint. We had a booking but they had some free tables for drop ins. The place is quite small but nicely decorated and the ambience is calm. We opted for lamb, chicken and prawn dishes to sample one of each and they were all very tasty and flavourful. Staff were nice and friendly and prices are fair. First time visit and will not be the last!
nice restaurants. Friendly staff. One toilet for man/women and not even clean.
We’ve been dining at Maharaja for over 10 years and find the food authentic and very nicely flavoured. The service is exceptional and the ambiance great. This is for sure one of the best Indian Restaurants on the island
Delicious food. Good staff. Value for money. Many vegetarian options available.
Definitely the food is incredible and the prices are affordable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Worst indian food ever tasted! The food was tasteless and bland. We sent back the lamb curry and it came back even more worse. This is not how indian food tastes. We were also over charged for our drinks. To make things worst. We got sick off of the food. Worst restaurant ever!
Poor service. Took long to get food served. Food was a disappointment. Vegetable curry tasteless with freezer veg used and no flavour. Tikka masala too was a disappointment. It was bland, no taste of Indian spices. It seemed like they just opened a can of tomatoes and added the chicken to it. We also found a piece of carton with the sauce. When we pointed this out to the waitress she just laughed it off. 😱😱😱
Really nice, aromatic curry. Friendly service. Good portions. Nicer than it looks on the photos. Will return food another before we go back to the UK!
Very bad service. Drinks, nann bread and chicken tikka didn’t arrive. Called and said that we had to go back for them after 5mins on call denying that there wasn’t a mistake. Rubbish service and customer care.
Very good food. One main course was slightly disappointing however the rest of our food was very tasty.
Awful food and poor service. Staff were very rude and slow.Ordered half a bottle of wine but when the bill came, we were charged for a full bottle. When questioned, the manager said it was our fault and said we had to pay the full amount.Shocking overall and would not return. Would urge others to avoid despite older reviews being positive
The food is totally excellent every time I go it gets better and better Indian food is my favourite food and I could eat here every day
Quite poor all around. Very poor service. We waited about an hour and a half for our food to arrive. Was quite bland and tasteless and chicken wasn’t cooked properly at all. We’ve had better curries at our work cafeteria. The waitress had an attitude which looked like most of the tables in the restaurant noticed as well. Only reason it’s 2 stars is because my 2 yr old child enjoyed the plain rice….says it all
I read some good reviews about this restaurant so, my husband and I decided to have our first meal in Malta here. Quite disappointing to be honest. The food was sour and didnt taste good. It might be authentic to some people who hasnt tried a really good and well prepared Indian dishes. In my humble opinion the food and restaurant were overrated.
Reasonable price. Small space but nice. Foos taste was average.
i ordered lamb curry but got a few pices of lamb with muddy paste, taste horrible and no cutlery on take away. turkish restaurant nearby is 100 times better
Nice Indian restaurant find in Malta. Good choice of vegetarian dishes. Host is friendly and ambiance is good. Indoor dining only.
Had a meal here on the last day of our holiday. Great food, really tasty and lovely staff, would definitely visit again
I have ordered today by bolt aloo Gobi, plain rice and lamb sarg. They gave me beef sarg instead of the lamb and the cauliflower you need to steam it first before adding it to the potatoes in the sauce Mr. Chef . The cauliflower was not cooked..it actually burned my stomach trying to eat raw like that. Anyway I called them to explain the error for nothing. Next time you wont see me buying from there.
Absolutely horrible. Korma and madras disgusting. Tasted like powder. Meat was tough. Reckoned we had 10 bits of meat each which we didn’t. When we complained they threatened to phone police. Very rude and threatening. Would never ever recommend and would definitely not be going back. Avoid at all costs. Shocking
Went with my wife todayThe food was decent. The owner or manager is very nice but the young Philippines lady was horrible customer service hence why I have reduced my rating
Authentic indian food, the place was recently refurbished but the food kept the same, authentic as usual.
The stuff was lovely but unfortunately instead a butter chicken I got tikka masala. The menu is extremly long so it feels like they have one basic sauce for everything and just hope people won’t tell the difference. I had so many butter chickens in my life that I know when I am served something that isn’t it. Great naan great though.
Very friendly staff, delish food & good value for money!
very kind and very welcoming staff .. amazing food with fresh products ...
Absolutely amazing staff - male waiter was very pleasant and polite. I loved the chicken soup - my boyfriends was spicy and mine wasnt which was perfect for us. Great food - very good Tikka masala (it was a bit too spicy for meand Chicken jhal frezi (medium hot was spicy enough for my boyfriend).
Highly suggested for the great value for money. The staff and food are really nice. Keep it up
I had a take away lamb biryani. The rice seemed old and overcooked, blunt taste, I dont recommend. I was given an extra "curry" sauce, however I wish I had refused it - it did not resemble curry sauce at all, rather a tomato sauce... oh well hehe.Quite expensive too.I have not tried anything else.
Great authentic Indian food with very good prices. Highly recommend
Ordered Korma, Chicken Madras, Beef Vindaloo, Portions of Jeera Pullao (Riceand Nan (Bread). Below average food, below average service and below average cleanliness (the restaurant itself, including and especially the bathroom. During such delicate covid times no disinfectant and not even paper towel). As regarding main courses, I doubt there was 2/3 pieces of chicken or beef in each bowl. And food was not warm as should be.
The food is as close to authenticate you can get in Europe.I had chicken tikka, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken and naan. The portions are big for the main dishes and the size of naan is also big.For most 1 naan would be more than enough.Opens till late so you can go easily. Also on the main road near the harbour where there are a lot of restaurants and hotels along the line so it feels pretty safe to walk there even late at night.
One - if not the best Indian restaurants in Malta. Its by no means high end looks wise, but prices are good, portions big and food delicious. Also staff is very friendly and helpful.bthey even recieve food orders out of opening hours.
Very cute little Indian restaurant with plenty of choice on the menu. We booked a table in advance which was a must for the night I went on because it was that busy. The food was good overall, the flavour was nice and the spice was well balanced. Im not sure if somebody burnt something or tried cooking with spicy oil, but at one point during our meal, myself and all of the customers had a coughing fit from some mysterious spicy gas coming from the kitchen. Hopefully this is not a common occurrence. If you get gassed during your experience as well, then it may be a bigger problem than I thought, aside from that mishap however, I enjoyed my meal and I would still recommend.
Amazing, authentic Indian food.
We love sub-continental food so we checked-in to this Indian restaurant. We have tried some dishes: lamb biriyani, palak paneer, sheekh kebab, garlic naan etc. The food was tasteless; Biriyani had the weirdest taste and flavor, served cold, garlic naan was not in usual taste. The most frustrating part is their service. Cold and less responsive, unfriendly and unhygienic. The person doesnt understand any language, neither has any common sense. For example, he was about to snatch the plate before some of us were finished! It was our first dinner in Malta and a total waste of time and money. It was just a punishment for our stomach! They must improve their service.
Maharaja is a lovely cosy Indian restaurant situated in Gzira very close to Manoel Island. The food is always delicious which makes deciding what to choose hard work. If you go as a couple or group I recommend sharing so you get to try and a bit of everything. The service is fast and friendly and the portions of food are very generous. You can choose between mild up to very spicy. There is a restroom at the back of the restaurant, and unfortunately like most places around Gzira and Sliema there is no car park. Usually in the evenings you can find space along the road or else I recommend parking on Manoel Island.Very much worth the visit if you are a lover of Indian food.
