Magnolia Foods in Lynchburg

We visited for the first time Sunday August 28. We enjoyed the variety of foods they offered and it was hard to pick one because all of it sounded delicious. I was excited to try the Curry Chicken sandwich on pumpernickel with a side of potatoe salad and lemon cake. The bread tasted fresh and the chicken was very moist and flavorful. I enjoyed the potato salad as well. The lemon cake wasnt my type of cake and was kind of dry.Overall, the food was good but the service was absolutely awful. I liked the food but the atmosphere that the two young ladies at the front put off was unacceptable. Not only were they rude and acted like we were bugging them to place a order and then get a container to take our food when leaving, they continued to watch us the entire time we ate and everytime we would looked up from eating they would go to whispering in the corner and to the gentleman in the back then look back at us cackling. I would not recommend this place solely on how the 2 young girls up front were.

I got a delicious wrap but not too thrilled with their version of pimento cheese. Nothing against them, just a personal preference.

They are consistently not open when their hours indicate they should be. No hours posted on the actual restaurant.

Holy tasteballs....the turkey and apple sandwhich is the best sandwhich Ive ever had. Something about the tang of the honey mustard against the crunch of the apples each bite.

This is the 3rd negative experience I’ve had with Magnolia (out of the last 3 trips thereand I’ve been a patron for years. I bought this meatloaf this afternoon opened it to warm for dinner tonight and it is covered in mold. I’ve called 11xs and no one has answered the phone. I am never going here again. What a waste.

Worked here with Lucy and Willie in 2003-2004. Learned so much about cheese and wine; now I own a wine and cheese bar in Florida!

Great wine and beer selection. Food was good however we were hoping for brunch as advertised on their website but they were no longer doing it.

Fantastic little shop/deli that offers gluten free options. Special note: The lemon and carrot cakes were AMAZING.

Great sandwiches and sides with their box lunch. I always get the carrot cake because its the best in town. It has a neat atmosphere and the local artwork is always nice to look at. Ive never had a negative experience here.

Very good, was a visitor different set up then used too. Very cool. Great beer and wine selection.

I have loved their cakes and cupcakes in the past. Apparently they have a new baker and I would not recommend ordering cakes or cupcakes from Magnolia Foods. The raspberry cupcake was very dry and the frosting was granular and was the equivalent of eating directly from your sugar bowl. It was tasteless and very unappealing to our taste buds. I went back and told them four days later and the same cupcakes were being sold. They tasted bad when I bought them on Friday much less how they would taste now that it is four days later. The two young ladies working should have apologized and offered something else. Instead they said they would tell the baker who was due in the next day. I have left never to return. I really feel bad having to post this but the new baker is not up to snuff and if the cupcakes were disappointing then that expensive cake for your special occasion would have you in tears.

Amazing selection of wine, and a good selection of beer. Perfect little neighborhood store that sells a surprising variety of lunch fare!

My husband and I visited for the first time a few weeks ago. We looked at the website & I was excited to try the beignets and quiche but found out when we got there that they are not offering the full menu at this time, no beignets. I was a little disappointed that the quiche isnt made fresh each day but is made the day before and reheated to order.Overall, the food was good and service was great. I liked the pasta salad and loved the atmosphere. Its worth a try if you want something different from our typical dine in spots in the area.

I love this place ❤. The staff are awesome- personable, friendly and professional. The food is delicious and plentiful- no matter what you order. The prices are great. They have a full pledge deli with a nice variety - alot of specialty products and wines. My favorite is their turkey apples white cheddar with spicy honey mustard on a multi grain bread. Yummy. They do curbside and online orders as well as in house. Thank you Magnolia Foods for serving our Community.

I really love their food and the quality of service is good too. The curried chicken salad and the espresso brownies are to die for. A little pricey, sure, but its local and delicious.

What makes this spot stand out is the friendly staff! They were very patient and helpful to us first-time visitors. Excellent wine and beer selection, tasty sandwiches, and delicious sides and desserts - what more could you want?

Ordered a birthday cake six days in advance of pick up. On the day I was to pick it up I came an hour later than scheduled pick up time and it still was not ready. I waited patiently and they showed me the cake, boxed it up, and I took it home. It sat on my kitchen counter until my daughters birthday party when we unboxed it to present it. It was a disaster. The cake apparently had been iced while it was still warm so the icing was pooling on the edges and falling off the sides. The bottom layer was not even cooked all the way through in the middle and was mushy and doughy. I contacted the company through their website and also left a voicemail and neither have been returned. This may be a fluke because I have had good experiences in the past, but it does not excuse being unprofessional and responsive when there is a problem.

Great locally owned business. Love the wine selection and the fact that its not upcharged and you can drink it there with food. Lots of fresh deli items too!

Ever since we started ordering online due to the virus, the portion sizes have all been cut in half! We used to love going here for lunch but it is no where near worth the price now.

Yall they have the best sandwiches..if youre looking for a unique deli sandwich this is thr place to go. Plus they have a great selection of craft beer and wine that you can browse while you wait!

Oh Magnolia foods- a cute place with SO much unrealized potential.Great location, has a patio, and has a nice vibe to it. Then you meet the staff- heads up, it’s run by moody teens with sassy attitudes. I came toward the end of the day so at least the service was fast so they could get me out of there.I ordered the roast beef sandwich and a drink to-go for about $10 and when I got it home and boy was I disappointed! It was just a boring ol’ sandwich on cold French bread, the lightest smear of horseradish, roast beef still clumped like it was when it came out of the package I guess. So then I began the latest episode of extreme makeover: sandwich edition. Literally all I had to do was lightly toast the bread in the oven , replaced the sad, thin, limp piece of lettuce with some salad mix, unclumped the roast beef and layed it out for full bread coverage, throw some mayo on it (because I didn’t have horseradishand the boom! A delicious sandwich worth the money I paid for it.Like my sandwich, Magnolia foods has good ingredients, but poor execution. But with just a little bit of effort (toast your bread... and maybe get the teens out of the kitchenI know they can turn it around and live up to the quality that they’re charging us for.

I had ordered a birthday cake for my mom and I chose to do a cake they already make every day instead of a custom one. The lady working told me to pick it up at 11 a.m. Sunday morning, so I am there at that time. 35 minutes go by and the cake is still not ready. Along with it not being ready the time she said it would be. The customer service was terrible. No “good morning”, no apologies... I will not be purchasing from them again:/

I will NEVER order a cake from here again. I placed an order for a cake with pickup at 10:30 am. I arrived to pick it up only to find out that the baker had decided not to make the cake and had also not called to let me know. So incredibly unprofessional; I can’t understand how someone can run a business that way. I was left last minute with no cake and no time to find an alternative.

Very cozy and pleasant dining experience. Great selection of wine and the herbed cream cheese is the best Ive ever tasted.

This is such a cute little shop! I highly recommend picking up a lunch bag from them. You get a sandwich, side, and dessert for a great price! BTW the carrot cake is to die for!

The food is excellent and worth the money. If I did have a gripe with the food, while I havent had the full gambit of their menu, what I have had seemed "safe". Definitely check them out if youre in the area. And at passing glance they have an excellent beer selection.

The food is pretty good, the menu is simple sandwiches, nothing too fancy - and the sides can be pretty unique and tasty, though they are a bit pricey. The biggest issue is just that they are consistently so sloooooow. There is no reason a chicken salad sandwich should take 40 minutes to make. Every time.

This place was great last year. I don’t know what changed but my friends nor I have wanted to come back. My friend waited 30 minutes for a smoothie bowl. Then I waited 20 minutes for a single warmed slice of quiche the long haired blonde girl has more attitude than Lizzo so there’s no point in trying to talk to them. Their hours have changed several times and they are never correct online. Their signs say brunch on Saturday and Sunday but they don’t actually serve brunch on Saturday anymore. I’m not going to come back. I used to come here every single weekend. Sucks to have to find a new spot now.

Love Magnolia Foods! Their food is always fresh and well prepared. The staff is friendly and working hard to create the perfect customized order. No pre-made food here. Just tasty made to order smoothies, sandwiches, and desserts.

PLEASE update your hours on google. Twice now I have tried to come here only to find that you open later and close earlier than shown online. Otherwise, good selection of craft beer and wine, and delicious desserts. Delicious food and a fantastic selection of craft beer!

Always fresh and delicious. We often call in sandwich orders and they are ready for pickup, never mushy, though, from waiting around. Roast beef on baguette is always a star!

Magnolias is always so wonderful! Adi pours her soul into making such delicious food. The #2 (Roast beef and Swissis the best! Her potato salad is out of this world!

Wonderful food and cozy, relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. A wonderful selection of bottled wines, and a healthy menu with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. I love the curried chicken salad they make!

Came back for the $1 Wine Tasting and was told it was now $5 even though the sign outside still says $1. Employees response: "Oh thats been like that for 6 months. We just havent bothered to change that."

My favorite place to buy food, wine, and to my surprise...mead! You can never go wrong here as you can find beer, wine, snandwiches and even candles. I love the idea of this store and the wonderful atmosphere. Five thumbs up!

One of my favorite locally owned restaurants/ stores. They have a fantastic wine selection! The food is fresh and delicious! I attended one of their wine dinners and it was an amazing experience!

In the restaurant portion of the store, Magnolia Foods has a nice variety of lunch options like sandwiches and wraps, sides like pasta or salad, and desserts. The rest of the store has a large selection of wine and beer and various gifts or kitchen-related items.

This is an excellent little restaurant and store. They have an amazing selection of wine, especially for the size of the store. They also have great sandwiches. My wife and I recently enjoyed brunch there, which was also amazing. You really cant go wrong here. Check out their social media pages where they often post about various tastings and dinners that they host.

Ate here with my mom and we had a pleasant experience. The store is charming if a little awkwardly laid out when theres a line. Prices are reasonable for what you get: think quick bite to eat without hating yourself afterward.The food, though a little plain looking, was surprisingly flavorful. I got the curried chicken sandwich on pumpernickel and was surprised by the taste. It wasnt overpowering like I feared. Curry can bring the pain if you arent careful!Oh, and theres overpriced local art on the walls if thats your thing. Not willing to pay 100s of dollars for prints myself, but I came for the food and enjoyed the decoration all the same.

I used Magnolias bakery to send a birthday cake to a friend, which had to be delivered because I dont live in the area. It was very easy to place the order and customize the cake, and the cost was reasonable (only $5 for delivery since she wasnt too far from the store). The cake turned out beautifully and my friend loved it. I would definitely use them again in the future. Thank you Magnolia!

Very good food and friendly staff. Unsolicited, they gave us a bunch of free deserts for an apparent order mixup and slightly extra wait. Its a convenient place to pick up food to take to nearby Riverside Park.

My wife has one specific mandatory request for her birthday...I better get the cake from Magnolia Foods. No sheet cakes here, only the best tasting best made good stuff. What a great business and huge asset to Lynchburg.
