Magic of Polynesia : Roberts Hawaii - Dinner theater in Honolulu, United States
Its so not real. Plastic boats, structures that look plastic, inaccurate information about the cultures, junky food. And traditional luaus have alcohol! (I get it that its run by a religious organization that doesnt allow alcohol, and that its located in a town that is "dry".The only things redeeming are the barefoot tree climber and the fire dance. I would say its a tourist trap.
Best way i can describe it is a magic show combined with a luau. This was my first time going to magic show and i was truly dumbfounded. I have heard John Hirokawa was worth the price of admission and that is absolutely the truth!! We had us laughing the entire time as he did many tricks with audience members. The craziest trick was when he made a car disappear. Throughout the show they mix in hula from some of the different Polynesian islands. At the end of the show, there is even a amazing fire knife finale just like at many luaus. We did the Show Only with the free bento box dinner that included BBQ chicken and Kalua Pork w cabbage. Food was alright but i would recommend eating before or after the show.Great value as the tickets were about 35 bucks online!
Fantastic show. Lots of real strong belly laughs. John was really funny and the Japanese tourists he picked to join him on stage had no idea what was going on make the whole thing even funnier. The Polynesian dancers and fire dancers were also really great. Definitely worth seeing if you come to Honolulu
I enjoyed going to Magic of Polynesia. Our tickets also came with dinner, and drinks provided by employees. The servers there were also helpful and showed great customer service through selecting the food options. The theater itself was also wide and spacious to accommodate an audience both for a show and as a restaurant, surprisingly. The food was okay at best, but we didnt come here for that. The Magic of Polynesia was an amazing magic show thats great entertainment for the whole family to see!
Family fun. We even had entertainment at our table by the rotating magician. The fire dancer was incredible! The food was ok but we werent there for the food.
It was a good show. It started off with hula dancers, both gals and guys, bwhich danced between sets. The show, obviously, included a lot of magic. The magician was also a comedian, as he infused his brand of funny into the show. "Guest" were also included in the show. Our tickets included a light dinner, which was a bento box with a small scoop of rice, noodles, some shredded cabbage, and three pieces of pork. Oooo. There was also a fire dancer. The show only ran for a tiny bit over an hour, so not the hour and a half advertised show. The performers were in the lobby after the show for pictures.
My wife wanted to see a show in Waikiki... So of course I googled shows... Since we watched a magic show in back in October... We decided to buy tickets for Magic of Polynesia... This show was hands down better than the show in Vegas... My wife and I were seated in the front row... Believe me when I say... I Looked very closely for any hint of clues... Both my wife and I couldnt see anything... Finally! I was picked to be a part of a magic trick... This Magician knew exactly what I was thinking... Awesome awesome show... If you ever wanted to see a Vegas show, but cant fly there... Buy your tickets now to The Magic of Polynesia... I promise you wont be disappointed...Stay Blessed everyone... Alohas
Worst experience ever ! The servers ignored us and wouldn’t serve us because we had ONE friend that had previously been drinking. Wouldn’t serve any of us a an alcoholic beverage the entire show, let alone water!! and then wouldn’t bring us dinner and tried to say we didn’t buy dinner. I had to leave and go down stairs and PROVE we paid for dinner again! Seriously the hugest waste of money ever and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone !!! If you have ever been to any show in Vegas this will look like a high school production. Such a waste of time on vacation!!
Very professional performances, the dancers, the illusionist and his interaction with the audience, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING AND VERY ENTERTAINING..THE DINNER WAS GREAT.. AN EVENING WELL SPENT WITH GOOD FRIENDS AT AN UNFORGETTABLE SHOW..MR. VILLORIA CLOSED WITH A SNOW FALL, IT ALMOST FELT LIKE A MIRACLE NIGHT, !!!!❤
The shows are fantastic!! Food is great and drinks are reasonable. The magician is very entertaining and the fire dancer was amazing.
My family and I absolutely loved the show. We have 4 kids, ages 2-9, and the employees were all so helpful and accommodating. Great family atmosphere and the entertainment was amazing. The magician was very skilled and entertaining. Food was excellent. Would highly recommend if your looking for activities in the Waikiki area!!
So cool!! Essentially the same kind of structure as a luau, but more affordable and with a magician style twist to it.
Great show, very entertaining, its amazing to have a magical experience as an adult and see the wonder and amazement in my childrens eyes. The dinner was nice, the portions are generous and the atmosphere is whimsical. My family thoroughly enjoyed this experience!
I didn’t have any expectations of Magic of Polynesia, and yet it was still disappointing. Once the show begins, an awkward performer named Michael Villoria comes out as the opening act. He has cheesy jokes and amateur magic tricks, like a trick Rubix cube that anyone can purchase online. He pauses frequently for applause or firmly says “thank you” to hint that we should be impressed. I had seen a street magician the night before and was far more awed by the wandering performer than this person. Finally, the opener leaves and the dancers come out. They’re the best part, along with the music. The hula and fire dancers are so talented and really make the show. The opening magician comes back because, just kidding, he’s the main act! He makes a car disappear but it’s obviously just a piece of cardboard. The whole stage is dark aside from the spotlight the magician stands in, which is another reason why I find street magicians more impressive; literally anything can be happening on stage and I can’t see, so none of the tricks are particularly amazing. There’s a weird juxtaposition between the dad-joke “magician” and the dancers with their dark and upbeat music. The hula dancers and fire dancer are epic, fast, and everything about them is thrilling. Then the drums stop, and they start playing odd sitcom-like music that’s usually played during funny TV montages. Michael comes out, does a couple “illusions”, and interacts with the crowd to get a few chuckles, then he walks out and we’re back to drums, thunder, spears, and fire. The whole show seems designed for someone else. All in all, not worth the money if you really want to be awed by magic. Definitely go to see the dancers! Then just hang around near the beach to see the real illusionists who can make things disappear 2 feet from you and actually make you laugh.
We surprised our son for his birthday with this show. It was really good and the magician was hilarious!!! They offer many different packages, I wouldnt mind going again soon!!!!
Greatshow magic and atmosphere and the food was incredible.Kakeo and Dori were exceptional performers
What a PHENOMENAL experience! I didnt realize it was going to be a magic like show, but I am glad I didnt know! I was in AWE! The food was pretty good, but I wasnt hungry. The illusionist was AMAZING and the dancers were SUPERB! You have to visit when visiting Hawaii!
The experience was great, but we didn’t expect a magic show. We shouldve known since it’s in the name, however, the main illusionist wasn’t even on the advertised handouts. The food was okay, but what do you expect? And the drinks were, in my opinion, expensive. A 2$ coke is 6$ when more than 1/2 the cup is filled with ice. Overall, the show wasn’t bad, but if it has a main act then advertise it, lmao.
The show was pretty good. We did the Bento Box package. Bento box was pretty good. Kalua pork was a bit dry. Word of advice, my girlfriend and I got fruit punch and pineapple juice, which were $6 a piece, and its NOT free refills. So our bill was $24 for 4 juices. WOW. Also the pictures you take before entering are $25 and you get them at the end of the show. There was only one illusion that they kinda messed up on, but the rest of the show was fantastic. Enjoy the Magic show, Polynesian dancing and fire dancing. Also you cant film or take pictures.
Solid show and a good time. Did not eat so cant really comment on the food. Good comedy and very good magic. Highly recommended.
Some impressive illusions with a lot of unfunny jokes. Im not a fan of picking on audience members, especially those who dont speak the language. We had the basic meal. The Teriaki chicken was tasty enough. The fish was a frozen thing and the mashed potatoes were instant.
Excellent show!!!! Just a fyi dinner price didnt include drink or water that was an additional 6.00. And refills were 6.00. All in all wonderful experience.
Great show!!! Very entertaining. I was skeptical at first but enjoyed every minute. Wonderful show to attend with family and friends! The jokes are funny and the magic is awesome!
I seen this show many times but I keep coming back again and again and again! The staff is very friendly/welcoming. Service is superb. I keep laughing each time more and more. Definitely worth it. Its funny and amazing. Awesome vibe for the whole family
Great production and entertainment!! I love magic!
The show is very entertaining. If you pay for special seating then show up early otherwise youll be seated in a place that you wont be happy for the price you paid.
This was very entertaining! We greatly enjoyed it! My issue was the food, my steak was perfectly cooked, but i was not a fan of the mashed potatoes.
The show was fantastic. The room was very cold and the food was not excellent for the name it displays. There is definitely worthy to pay only for show.
The show was a little cheesy, but very entertaining. The whole family enjoyed it. The free Bento Box was alright. The crowd was weak when magician was crackin jokes. I thought he was hilarious. It was the last thing we enjoyed before the island shutdown because of the hurricane scare.
Awesome time!! Definately better than rock of Hula if you are looking for more entertainment vs dancing. We didnt do dinner but the pina coladas without alcohol were amazing!
Good show, decent food, good price. As the title suggests, its a magic show more than a luau, so if your looking for a luau there are plenty of other options. We took our 2.5 year old son and he did fine. Its LOUD and gets pitch black at times, so ve aware of that. And once the show starts dont expect much in the way of beverage service. We did premium seats and it was probably not worth it was stadium seating above us in the general admission section and they seemed to have just as good a view, maybe better because of the elevated seating. Also their tables were smaller , what youd expect at a restaurant, and we were basically at large picnic tables.Again...everything about the experience was average, but it was still a good show and worth the money in my opinion.
Overall great show w/excellent entertainment value. The magician was high quality. The food was very good as well.
Came here with my family for a last minute show. With the spirit of non Hawaii with them they refused to let us buy food or bring food in for our kids. They seem nice but they won’t do anything do you if you don’t pre plan.
Incredible show, a must see in Hawaii! The magician was spectacular and really funny. They picked on non English speakers, but no in a disrespectful way, I disagree with one of the reviews below about this, the magician himself spoke Japanese, so he was talking to them half in Japanese and half in English. Both Japanese people chosen to participate in the show were having a great time. I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone.
Better than expected. The magician was hilarious. If you dont want to be picked as a volunteer, try not to sit in the middle near the stage. Our kids loved the show and we were entertained throughout the show. Magic was good and the fire show was spectacular.
Great magic show and a very funny magician. Highly recommend, but dont pay extra for Priority seating. We did and were in the back row. Its a medium sized area so it was still awesome.
I had never been to a magic show before, so I have nothing to really compare it to, but it was a lot of fun! The illusionist John is incredibly talented. I really loved the fusion of the Polynesian elements.
This show is worth the price of admission and then some. We did the basic package and they provided a bento Box dinner. It wasnt an Award-winning dinner but it was tasty. But the magician here is absolutely fantastic. I went to see David Copperfield 2 years ago and he is nowhere as good as this guy.
The show is spectacular – for first timer. I am a first timer so I enjoyed the show. The food is really really good but be ready to get messy especially if you order the sea food! Crablegs arethe best! They need more waiter though that goes around so easier to order additional food.
We booked this show through a pamphlet we came across. What we saw on the pamphlet was NOT at all what we expected. The pamphlet shows primarily the dancers and hardly mentions that its A MAGIC SHOW. Dont book this show thinking its going tp be anything likr a traditional show. Yes we probably shouldve looked into it more and its no hard feelings on that anyways. We had the best laugh when we realized what we got ourselves into. The "trouble" begins when the show starts. Its kind of a small cold open for the show. But the amount of time he spent picking on the non-english speakers was extreamly uncomfortable. We really thought about leaving a few times. The only good part(swas the dancing because there was actualy variety there. The magic was the same 2/3 tricks with a different look.Just dont do it.
Way too loud for the space, the magic was ok-but nothing to write home about, everything is out of date and worn out and we found the jokes the entertainer used to be quite offensive - used the non-english speaking audience as props to make fun of and way too many sexist jokes. We ended up leaving an hour early after we couldnt take it anymore.
Always a great show. I love the fact that he does close up magic!!! When he makes it "snow" its great. Living in Oahu I know I wont see snow. I know what he does isnt real snow but for me.... Well, its a fabulous experience.
There are several reasons I dont recommend this place via a tourist guide, the first among them is food and second is customer service!1. We were sold a package for the show with free food. (Firstly the agent told us Veggie food is available).2. When we arrived there, not only was there no veggie food, the quality of customer service was pathetic.3. We paid a fortune for the experience of a proper dinner and a magic show! But the dinner experience was horrible.4. The food was pre prepared and it was freaking served in a plastic bowl. (See pictures).Certainly the freaking "experience" was over sold. The show itself was good - but its not the "experience".So - please do not book this show via tour agents as a part of pre planned package. And recommendation for the show - please have vegetarian food (there are far too many of us vegetarians). And please call out the food options upfront. And stop over selling the "experience" part. What is being done is a insult to the talent of Mr. Hirokawa!Overall, a case of over selling. I would have given zero stars if I could.
Great family event. We really enjoyed the show. Drinks were reasonably priced, meal was well prepared. Only place you will see it snow in Hawaii!
Had a great time here and it was an amazing show. They offered a dinner and show, however we skipped the dinner part. If youre driving in, theres some easy parking on the other side of building. Its above ground, and right beside the Kona coffee, although its not exactly cheap.
we are locals who were pleasantly surprised w a fun entertaining show which included magic, hula, and fire knife dancing. kids aged 8-17 and family all enjoyed.
The magic wasnt very good and it was a lot of the same thing over and over again. Just disappearing acts one after another. Some of them you could see the trick to easily. The alcohol drinks werent good. And you definitely needed more to enjoy the show. The dancing was neat. But at one point with the men dancing, you can see under their garments pretty easily. Dont waste your money on this. The street performers are way better.
Best show ever, best part about Hawaii was this. The people they choose in the audience are not actor even if they seem to be. I was part of a few minutes of the show since I was on the front row. My father was also part of an act!
A fantastic show! I have seen many magicians in Vegas and this is as good as or better than any. The combination of music with unique Polynesian designed props make this a very fun show. The magician is charming and cool. The show is fast paced, and exciting, and the fire juggling etc compliment the show. The illusions had me fooled and amazed over and over. I myself have entertained with magic for 30 years and have seen many magic shows, and this is one of my very favorites. Super! dont miss it! I am from Minnesota and have seen this show twice now over the years and cant wait to enjoy the magic, music and comedy again. Thanks for an unbelievable and unforgettable show.
5/7/15Hmmm, I guess my favorite part was the fire dancing. The majority of the evening was dancing with a little magic thrown in, and no shortage of jokes between acts using the same people from a couple of tables near the stage. Couldnt actually tell if the people involved were part of the act or not, . Which I guess is good.If you dont pay for the very expensive meat dinners (either chicken and rib for a fee, or steak and lobster, for double the price of your basic$60 ticket), your seats are in the very back. You would share a table with a large group so in that regard it makes sense to show up at check in, about half an hour before the show. But its not really the kind of show you need to be up close for.The dancing is enjoyable, but a luau might be more fun for the price. $60/person is a lot for what we got. Kids would get a kick Im sure, but los of less expensive things will also entertain children. They gave us a hard time for opening a new bottle of coke we brought in, but said nothing to the dinner guest at the table in front of us who kept checking her phone. Pictures arent allowed, texting shouldnt be either.
