Bus License plate 778JYK passed a red light without a care for us who were about to cross the street and we had the pedestrian green light!! This happened at 7pm Calle Alcala / plaza Cibeles thursday 27/11/22. The bus was heading towards SOL.

The audio was terrible..it never was in time with the landmarks so we spent the entire time with no idea what we were supposed to be looking at. Too much music being played rather than informing of Mdrid history

I usually start a visit in a new city with an hop on -off tour to get my bearings. This is the worst organized company and the tour is a waste of time and money.Value your time and money. Hire a private guide or use Metro.

It is a good way to see buildings but isn’t worth the money in my opinion. The audio tour guide is poor and many of the audio sockets did not work, same with the USB sockets. It seems that these are not maintained.

The bus tour through Madrid is a great way to be introduced to the city. But sadly the City Tour is not well organized. The bus stops are not sign posted clearly or easily for tourists to spot. There are also new stops that were introduced. The staff also decide when they will not complete a route because they are running late. We were dropped off 2 stops before our destination (it was 20h00,and had to walk 30 minutes to get to where we wanted to be. Very disappointing.

Perfect way to get your bearings in the city. I’d recommend taking the tour then deciding what stops to take after. The staff were…ok. The headphones to listen to the pre-recorded tour info were fine. Our guide was a bit slow to change areas so he was often announcing in the middle of the audio guide sections.

Reasonably priced hop on hop off tour. Allows you to determine which sites you may wish to visit in greater detail.

Highly recommend taking the two day option. For an extra 3 euros, you get to ride the bus for 2 days allowing for a comfortable way of going around the city.

Narration was informative, bus drive thru spots went at a pace where we could appreciate the tour, and top section of the double deck bus had the option of covered or uncovered seating. This was really helpful for the midday rides.

Could have been 5 stars, but for one ill informed, yet confident agent on the bus. Loved the tour though and its a great value if you make a day of it. Suggest Ruta 1.

This is a good way to see Madrid and all most of the sites. There are two routes, one that takes the historical tour and the other is thr modern tour. You can hope on and off as many times as you like. One day is 23 euros and two is 27 euros. My one gripe is the will change the route without notice because of traffic without notice. I wish they had an app so that you can track the buses live. The double decker buses are supposed to run every 15 minutes or so. But we waited over and 1.5 hours for a bus at a stop that we hopped off.

Avoid this tourist trap. First tickets we bought were not valid. We got thrown out of the bus right on Gran Via. Then we purchased the tickets over their website and we were allowed to take the bus. But sometimes the headphones weren’t working or sometimes the audio jacks. Figuring out where the bus stops are is also a good kept secret. Even the tourist information who called this company was not able the help us finding a near by bus stop. Just avoid this company.

Wish I could give zero stars. Comically bad. Waste of time. Headphones didnt work in many of the seats and when they did, it was mostly annoying music, with a few paragraphs about a building at the numbered stops. Nothing about the neighborhoods we were driving or Madrid in general. And its very difficult to find the stops, ie where to load.

Honestly quite a bad experience with this service today. The app didn’t specify that one of the routes wasn’t running so I waited for it for ages before giving up and Ubering to another route’s stop. The app kept changing the bus arrival time so it made it look like it was running. The working routes bus times were actually working fine, but the app’s map didn’t show your location, so you have to use the app along with Google maps to figure out exactly where the bus stops. The app also doesn’t specify exactly what is at which stop. It gives you a long list of things that would be better if you stop at the next stop (or even the one after that)Furthermore - I misplaced a paper ticket and was refused readmission on the bus, even though I have an online ticket and proof of payment. Outrageous. I only got on the bus twice today and there is hardly any info given on the headphones - just annoying music plays as you pass lovely sights.Disgusting service. My one day in madrid is essentially ruined.

Im not going to lie, I wouldnt recommend this tour. Its a hit or miss situation if youre going to find the correct active bus stop. The bus audio tour didnt work. The staff is haphazard and doesnt stop when you request, they wont stop at all if they dont have to. I would recommend just using the metro to get around, at least you know when and where that will be coming/going. The Barcelona tour is such a well oiled machine, it had me thinking the one in Madrid was up to that standard as well. I was WRONG. My day trip to Madrid was essentially ruined by this bus tour.

Not worth it. Very short, basic and uninformative tour. Many of the audio outputs were not working. The explanations were very short and wed mostly listen to music. The host/driver (Dianawas VERY rude and sarcastic because we got in the bus before her. She implied we were trying to stay without paying, but we had got our online tickets many days in advance. I would not recommend to spend your money on this...

Horrible audio recording. Zero substance to the explanations. One sentence? Headphones defective.... Please fix this as this is expensive. In addition...the whole point is the hop on hop off feature. We felt like prisoners on the bus because at night the bus makes no stops. I mean, they will not even allow you to get off. This is absurd. The girl in charge also was not helpful at all, but dismissive. This is a service for tourists. Do better. At least, lesson learned. First and last time. Just get on a regular bus.

Absolute terrible experience, complete waste of 20 euros. The bus was very crowded, so we couldn’t go upstairs where you have a good view. Instead, we had to sit downstairs. That doesn’t have to be a problem, but the windows were very dirty so you couldn’t see through them that easily. Also, if you wanted to see a higher building through the window you had to move your head in such a way that at the end of the journey your neck was stiff and hurting.Lastly, I noticed that when new people wanted to enter the bus they only mentioned to Spaniards the bus was too crowded and you couldn’t go upstairs. On the plus side, the driver was nice.

Very disappointed. One of the first things we do when visiting a city Is go an a city bus tour. We find it a great way of getting your bearings and planning the couple of days we have to visit. Sadly, the Madrid City Bus tour was probably the worst one we have ever done. The commentary in English was dreadful. We passed some stunning buildings with no mention at all in the audio. And when you were furnished with information it had either passed or nowhere near where we were on the route. The stops were announced in Spanish. That’s fine. But no explanation as to what to expect if you disembarked from that stop. The bus also takes a very strange route missing a lot of the city. We did both routes and found both boring and uninformative . We learned more on foot and Google!!Avoid this tour. It’s a waste of money.

That was terrible! We’ve tried route 2 and 1. Route 2 would be interesting taking in the account that the business area is not a common place to visit by tourists - but we’ve heard nothing (NOTHINGinteresting. What is worse, is that route 1, which was supposed to be the route on the most important and famous places - did not say anything about the Metropolis, Cibeles, Royal Palace, Opera? We’ve heard only boring facts about the architects of the buildings - first of all why would it be important for non-Spanish tourist? And how non-Spanish tourist would be able to memorize that? There was zero interesting and up-to-date facts… I’m very disappointed - as it was not cheap - 20 EUR per person? Moreover the buses very totally dirty (see pictures attachedand the headphones were either not working or the channels were broken. Not worth it - it is better to go by foot and read on the internet…

This is a great way to see the city and get around. The buses are frequent and cover the areas you’ll want to see in Madrid. The audio coverage is not great and you don’t see a lot of the best parts of city directly from the bus since it’s limited to where it can travel. I found the best use of the bus to be as transportation to get around the city.

We were very sceptical whether to purchase tickets after seeing so many bad reviews. In the end decided to go for it as it was our last day in Madrid and we were waiting for an evening flight. When we got onto the bus, we were greeted by a very nice tour guide. The headphones worked okay and we enjoyed both historical and modern tours. Is is definitely worth it if you have enough time to hop off and enjoy all the attractions to then hop back on and continue the tour.

Two bus routes taking you on either a historical tour of Madrid or a more modern tour of Madrid. The audio was pre recorded in order to offer it in multiple different languages, however the recordings were not of great quality and sometimes it was difficult to hear what was happening. The GPS didnt line up well all the time and sometimes it was unclear which building or monument they were speaking about. 20€ and change for an all day ticket(2022a bit steep in my opinion

I’ve done these tours in multiple cities, there always a good way to get to know your way around. This one is no where as good, the staff are unilingual, they don’t turn off the music when announcing stops so you can’t hear them & do t add any commentary, they just take tickets. Not worth it, take their map, but get a walking tour or a tuk tuk tour instead.

I have tried so many tour buses and I can say this is the worst.Equipments in the bus doesn’t work very well, I had to change my seat 10 times to get a proper place where I can hear the audio well. They told there will be air conditioning, and there was nothing at the bus it was too hot.The Arabic audio did not complete a sentence.

The historical places in Madrid are wonderful. However, the tour bus was terrible. We were told that there will be an air conditioner, but we were surprised how hot the bus was. There were only 2 in the whole bus, one at middle and one at the end. The audio was terrible most of plugs are broken or not working. The audio just cuts off mostly every time it talks.

Avoid like the plague. This is without doubt the worst city tour that I have ever experienced. The buses dont actually go where they say that they will, and when you eventually find one, the commentary (in English anywayis disastrous. 90% of the time its playing music, 5% of the time its trying to tell you about a building or point of interest that you passed three minutes previously, and the last 5% is spent describing festivals in Madrid that took place a month or two earlier. Some of these Ho-ho bus tours are excellent, but this one isnt. Dont go there.

Ive been fortunate enough to do a handful of these hop on hop off tours in cities around the world and have always enjoyed them as a means to get a feel for a citys layout and learn some interesting things along the way.Because of this one, Ive learned my lesson to check out reviews before purchasing tickets.I took the Blue Route on a Friday morning so your experience may be different on another day or on another route. This one was *slow*. Due to traffic and the stops being relatively close together, we crept along for most of the journey. Thats not too problematic if there are plenty of facts to keep you occupied, but unfortunately they were few and far between and often horribly out of sync with your surroundings.Skip this one and, if youre able-bodied, just do a walking tour instead.

A great way to see Madrid. Hop on hop off buses are regular enough to be able to jump off and explore at your leisure. The voice guided tour reveals plenty of interesting facts for those that want to listen. The only issue was with the number of non functioning headphone ports, but we could usually find a working one close enough.

My experience was adequate, but many of the stops are hard to find and totally unmarked. And the while its nice that the app shows the map of the stops, it doesnt show your location. I found myself jumping back and forth between their app and Google maps just to try to see where I could catch a bus. English narrations were very basic.

Update with regards to this review. I am happy to inform you that Madrid City tour has refunded me my tickets after a full evaluation. They have handled the matter very professionally and politely. Thanks.Waited 2 hours to try and board and 3 buses passed all full. Arrived in Madrid on the day after 10.30 am and had 1 day only in Madrid. Bought this online and never got to use it. Requested a refund waiting for a response. The hop on hop off seems like is overbooked and you can wait up to 35 minutes between buses. It might have been better possibly if one starts as early as possible but in my case that was unfortunately not a option I had.

Where do I start? Full busses kept pulling up, two people off and two people on. Ten people in line, you do the math. After waiting for forty minutes (three groups of us decided to walk 45 minutes, as two full busses passed us, to go to another pick up site. Finally got on after two hours. Went the whole route listening to the headphones that werent synced to the attractions that we wanted explained. After a meal, I left to go solo to the Prado Museum. I hiked back to a pick up location where the driver would not let me on because I had a gator style mask. I only needed to wear it until I went to the upper deck of the bus where you dont need to wear a mask at all. They allowed this mask on international flights, high speed trains AND their bus that I had taken earlier! I am not an anti-masker and I am fully vaccinated. I never write reviews but this whole experience made my blood boil. Avoid this scam and stroll the city while you spend you hard earned money on a wonderful meal in beautiful Madrid!

You get to see the city, and they do look after you - adjusting the sliding shade as requested on a very hot sunny day.But first, the earpiece provided didnt work. Luckily I had my own.The commentary was interesting, but after traffic delays, the commentary was badly out of sync with our location.

This was one of the most disappointing city tours we have done. So many beautiful buildings were passed by with no explanation, only music. No history of the city overall but strangely great detail of the "ports" or arches but no context of what they signified through time. When we did the tour, in early June 2022, many of the stops were "suspended " one of which was the Royal Palace, we could see it as we drove past but not a mention! The taped track did mention the diff architectural styles on the Grand Via but not in a way that would help us differentiate them. We had to wait one bus to get on which was actually a 30 min plus wait overall.

I was only in Madrid for one day and wow. Madrid City Tours was the perfect way for me to see the city. The company run two routes- modern and historic. They take you around famous monuments such as Gran Via, Real Madrid Stadium and the Royal Palace of Madrid. The buses have a hop-on-hop-off system so you are able to get off and back on whenever you want. Thank you!!

Cannot understand the negativity around this service. We bought tickets in advance and to be honest, it was probably the best 30€ we spent in Madrid. Did both route 1 and route 2, twice and had the opportunity to have two stops, in Principe Pío and the main shopping street, with plenty of time for browsing and something to eat. The in-bus commentary was a little skewed at times but that is to be expected with the semi permanent gridlock of Madrid traffic! Lets be honest here, you couldnt walk the distance of both routes without being hot and bothered and with blisters, so why complain when somebody is driving you round while you sit and get views you wouldnt get at street level?A word about the onboard staff: couldnt have been more polite and helpful if they tried. Wonderful and well do it again, when we come back.

This is the best way to see almost everything without getting tired. 🙌 There are 2 different tours and you can switch between the routes on the bus stops with the red points on the map (you need to ask for it on the information kiosks), the principal is in front of the Ritz Hotel. The 2 routes are interesting, the modern tour and the historical. You can choose the audio guide in your language, but make sure that headphone plug is working before you seat and enjoy the tour.

A must do if you’re visiting Madrid. I saw so many things from the bus with plenty of information given from the earphones. Plenty of photos which shows you the views that could be seen. Staff on the bus were very helpful with advising where was the closest stop to what area of Madrid you want to go to which is great to see that they were very knowledgeable.

This Madrid city bus tour of Madrid is a MUST do.As you can see from my photos, you’ll get and be taken to some stunning places round Madrid city Center. The architecture of Madrid’s building is truly spectacular.Along with the back drop of crystal clear blue sky’s, this is one of the very best city tours you can do.The tour bus you can hop on and off in many places and waiting for the next bus is approx 15 minutes in winter 12 minutes in summers. It’s less than €30 each which I think is good value in that you can hop on and off all day and with the top of the bus you can get some superb photos. We loved this city tour so much we did the tour twice in 2 days. You can get an offer if you plan to do this, and save some money, but we were not sure so had to pay the full price on each separate day. Next time we’ll book and pay for 2 days tour at once and save quite a bit of money. You also get good maps and ear phones which you can listen to commentary and learn the history of a Madrid in many different languages. If you take the tour in winter, be warned it’s very cold in Madrid in the winter months. It’s even colder than UK, so wrap up warm with big warm coat, hats and scarf.Summers though are very hot so again wear sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.Definitely highly recommended this city tour., it’s one of my favourites and one I’ll be doing on a regular basis.

We enjoyed the tour and integrated guide provided via headphones in many different languages. The upper level was halfway covered so we had shade and visibility when the buses werent completely packed. But know the weekday traffic and huge demand will often require you to wait for a second or third bus sometimes. But with only a single day in town for exploration, this was a good way to get around and not worry about taxis or trying to park the rental car

Easy to find right opposite of the Prado museum with a grey booth. It’s a friendly reception. Our Skip the line tour to the Prado starts late. Tour is not in the indicated language which is annoying. The explanations turn out to be hyper boring listening to the same high-level infos twice. Skipping the line? Nope. In line with all the others. That is at 10 AM. The ticket for the Prado museum is 15.5€ group tariff. The tour guide made a big effort to give information and keep moving the slow group through the museum. And the tour is extended by the time lost at the beginning. :-)The ticket should state the quarter of an hour before the official start rather than mentioning it in the small print, so every one gets it...

The city tour is on a double decker bus. You can pay at the booth near the first bus stop and at other stops are some attendants with the mobile tickets printers. Youd get friendly guides (very informative, helpful, enthusiastic and sincere!and a so-so guide.Upon entering the bus, show your ticket and you will be given a headset and map of the city with stops.High season would be packed full, you might not get a seat. The best views are of course at the top. Beside the headset plug are also USB hubs, so you can also charge your mobile phones on the bus.The tour gets you to see plenty of historical sites and tourist attraction such as the football stadium, shops, etc.
