Soul food from home after being gone for a two year duty in OK, was the best welcome home ever.Service is always impeccable with smiles, jokes and politeness. The food is over the top delicious. Homemade macaroni and cheese and I had no work to do. Be sure to check out everything you can and dont forget dessert.This will be at least a bi-weekly lunch spot for me. The parking lot is right there and everything is also handicap accessible. Go and have a family soul food meal with a family, cafeteria served style.

This church is my go-to-spot for normal/healthy-sized fried chicken wings. The seasoning is delicious and not salty.*They normally have the perfect-sized wings, which means it comes from a healthy chicken. This means they will indeed be on the smaller side, but not ridiculously small, which I’m okay with. Sometimes they have the jumbo wings, but I don’t eat those from any restaurant, store, etc. because they gross me out, taste different and likely have growth hormones in them.

I know things are changing and cost more but charging $4.00 for each Salmon pattie and wings are so small i thought they where wing dings....Sad but true...

Excellent food but not enough help and the staff all seemed to be older and have o m e speed- slow. Plan on being in line about 30 minutes (been there twice and it was a 30+ minute wait). The portions are small.

Its one of the few soul food restaurants in a church in Columbus Ohio. Its clean well let the staff are friendly and its got good down-home cooking especially the fish chicken. I will be returning food was scrumptious

Always a long like for busy hours. Make sure if you have to wait for the meats, you pay attention. One time they said they will call me up to let me know when the fish would be ready and forgot. So just keep eyes open. Other than that, the food is really good. Small area for seating.

The food is great. I just don’t like the customer service. I ordered food and they gave it away and made me wait. No manners.

I have been going to Madisons Soul Kitchen for over 6 years now, and I have to say the inconsistency in service and food is getting more and more frequent. Sometimes I base my decision to go here solely on the staff members present at the time. The two that were there earlier this evening are particularly difficult; Especially the older woman who serves the food. She is consistently rude, has a nasty attitude, and is just completely wrong for any type of customer service position. This is the second time she has completely disregarded my request and sometimes will flat out give your food away if the rest of your order isnt ready leaving you to wait even longer for food. She ignores when foods are getting low and doesnt seem to communicate with the back staff until things are completely gone even with a line forming. The only reason I continue to give them business is because there is a lack in good affordable soul food in Columbus, but if anyone has suggestions please let me know.

Everything was good a little disappointed in the greens they did not taste like fresh greens. But they were okay enough to eat everything else was really good.

I go to Madisons often for lunch, this was my first time going for the Friday night fish fry. It was really good, nice price for a good serving. The fish just had to many bones in it. Not a meal for kids.

First of all I had never been there before so I tried to call because I wanted to go to a sit down restaurant but i6 called 6 times and no answer, so I just went to try it, when we got there there was no one to welcome you at all I had to ask if you sit or what and the rudely said you get in line, no sit down, cafeteria style, but once you got to the place to see the food and order there was a sign on the left side. saying cash only, no large Bills, no drink refills, which there was no drink fountain and no sign on the door, so you had been standing in a line before you saw you couldnt pay unless you had cash and nothing larger than a $29, so we scraped up change because we had come a ways and at least wanted to try the food, the food was good but the service extreme slow and not very friendly at all not one smile or pleasant remark, just rude, there was about 5 people in front of us and it too about 30 minutes to get thru the line and we had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes to get our food because we had to wait to get fish, there are no menus just a board thats high up and not large letters, and I guess menu items change yet there is nothing to say what they have for the day, this is why black business has a hard time, be better for black people we deserve good service to, had that been a white establishment it would not have been like that, at least act like youre happy for the business, just saying

Food and service is great. Friendly comfortable environment. I am a long time customer and will continue to visit as often as possible. The portions served for the price is as it should be. I just wish they accepted credit cards.

Nice friendly church staffers: got soul food, ribs, fish, fried& baked chicken, meat loaf& pork chops! Vegabtles, greens , mixed medly& green beans, mac& cheese,& mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes,& beans on some days, got bread, cornbread. Wheat& white bread_& cakes& fresh baked cookies😋! Everything 👍. Chkem out. On greenway ave big church with two lions out front. Even got breakfast.saturdays: 7:00_ 9:00/ 10:00 am fish fry Friday: with fries& a drink! Thanks Madisons kitchen! LOVE THIS PLACE.!! I usually get the fried chicken, greens, macaroni and cheese, and candied yams. Im always on the lookout for soul food places. The only thing I dont like is, they dont take cards. cash only. My first time going I didnt know they didnt accept card, and the lady behind me (randomly started a convo with mewelcomed me and offered to pay for my meal (Before I knew they only accepted cash<3 <3 <3It is located at a Church so you are bound to come across some genuinely loving and caring folk. Reminds me of home.

Amazing food but terrible customer service and advertising.Hours of operation start at 1130am customers begin to line up by 1115am when you acll inside the location at 1145am you are told they are not opening up until 12pm which is not what was posted. Half of lunch wasted with terrible communication we had to find out from another standing customers.very disappointed. They make up their hours of operation false advertising for folks with jobs to report back to.

Cant say much about this experience except that God be the glory and i pray that frying chicken for church dinners never exhaust me to the point that everyone working in the kitchen needs to come out the kitchen sit down and play on there phones. I didnt buy a thing because the food presentation of what was remaining at 5:15pm was not even worthy to call scraps. I think at that point of a buffet service you should close your kitchen and send the workers home with those scraps and call it a day.

Amazing food at an amazing price !! Ordered for the first time yesterday and it definitely wont be my last!! I ordered for my family which can generally be a bit picky lol but they LOVED EVERYTHING!! The Ribs were cooked to perfection very tender the chicken wings just as i like crispy NOT soggy and both with plenty of sauce 😋 mac and cheese is the glue of a soulful meal and cant be done by everyone but MADISONS got it ! , yams are deliciously sweet , greens and cabbage seasoned perfectly and even the loaded fries I ordered my daughter were good as a family we eat out often it can be quite an expense and not always pleasurable the prices were awesome the food was amazing and the portions were more than enough ! Hands down the BEST SOULFOOD IN THE CITY ....and Ive tried others !! If u want some quality food CHECK OUT MADISONS!!

Wow! This place is the bomb! If you’re looking for a home cooked meal this place is it. Plenty to choose from. My family just left with huge smiles on our faces. AND THE SWEET TEA IS SOOOOOO GOOD!!! Thank you for the amazing food Madison’s Soul Food Kitchen 😃 You’ll be seeing us again soon.

The food was delicious, especially the mac and cheese and the peach cobbler. Folks were very nice and the place was very clean. I look forward to their rotating menus. Beware they do not take credit cards.

Good food. Never have what you want ready. Do not try and stop quick and lunch time is a no no. A 15 minute wait for fish quickly turns into 45.....and now they out of your choice of sides. The prices went up, portions shrunk and the wings are tiny....makes you think twice about that ridiculous wait. Just a forewarning for all.

This place has decent food, The problem today is its not updated with technology. People today are NOT carrying cash, most ppl have a debit card that we use daily. Its time to get out of that CASH ONLY mind set and update your system. Also you know lunch time is from 11am to 2ish please have your food ready so the public can get in and out. They are very SLOW in this establishment

Its ok. The food is mildly seasoned...taste is ok but it seems it caters to Older people! Youll need extra seasoning on the meats for sure! Sides are good!

I liked it. The service is slow slow slow.... I understand its volunteer work I hope the pastor is paying them because they are definitely making money hand-over-fist however for it to be a buffet line it definitely should not take as long as it does to get in and out of the door. The food is GOOD at best. You order fish itll take your entire lunch half hour to an hour to get. I think with a bit of reorganizing and prioritizing customer centered missed it could go from okay were good to better great will take a minute.

It’s usually cool but they don’t have a set recipe for their food... so that means the food doesn’t always taste the same. Some days I am satisfied while others I am highly disappointed. I just wish they would make everyone use the same recipe instead of cooking how they want, because it’s not always tasty.

Smothered pork chops, fried chicken, candied yams, cabbage, green beans, meatloaf, mash and gravy, Mac n cheese, peach cobbler... So good... Such nice people who are truly a part of the community... Full meal with drink for less than $10... And you get to support a community in a very direct way... Some seniors eat here everyday and I saw them blessing a family... Spend with our people who are making a difference for us...

Quaint place with great soul food. Priced reasonably. Lunch line style service. Friendly Christian people. Food choices range from chicken, both baked and fried, to fish and even steak. Sides such as mac and cheese and greens complete the meal. I reccomend stopping in.

Now I am a big foodie and love Columbus food scene. However, one thing I have always complained about is the lack of good soul food in a large city, because you can easily go to Detroit, Cleveland, and even Toledo to find decent soul food.I ordered the fried chicken, mac and cheese and the yams. The chicken was so flavorful and was perfectly seasoned how chicken should be fried, it reminded me of my grandmas fried chicken, now the yams they were just on point and really dont know how to explain, but they were so so so GOOD! The mac and cheese was good too, just need a little salt and it was baked just how I liked and very cheesy.Overall the food was affordable and decently priced. For two people we had two meals that came with two sides, cornbread, peach cobbler, and a sweet tea all for $18!Well long behold, I have finally found my hidden gem when it comes to soul food. So, if you want some decent soul food and want to fill your belly go check Madison Soul Food Kitchen!Do not forget to bring cash!

Not the best soul food in Columbus by any means. It is in a church cafeteria looking space, which was fine but not ideal for a Sunday meal especially since I dont think they have plates. I had to wait a long time for someone to come over a serve me so I could take my food to go. The price was fine but the quality of the food was subpar. I would not recommend this place to my friends.

I wouldve taken pictures but was pretty sure I would come under scrutiny.Pretty much any restaurant housed inside a church is going to get my seal of approval, and Madison is no different. While the food was good, it didnt blow me away, but everything else about the place does. For starters, I asked how long theyd been here and was told 21 years. The food is served from hot pans, somewhat buffet style except you dont serve yourself. Point being, there isnt a lot of prep or wait time. Options are limited, which means easier to execute. I will be back.

The restaurant is Church owned and although the food seemed fresh, they were unprepared for the crowd, greens were not seasoned ( tasted canned), fish was soggy (fried), chicken wings had BIG feathers, everything on menu not offered. Workers were friendly and the place is clean. Unfortunately, I will not go back.

Great food. Slow as driving Mrs. Daisy but food is superb. Better than anywhere within a 20 mile radius. Nice folks and a clean kitchen. And its all at the Church. God Bless.

I see a lot of people commenting about how their customer service is not good, but they are unpaid volunteers and people dont tip them. They get a tip every time i come in because the food is beyond delicious , they are friendly, and you can call ahead for your order so everything is done when you arrive. My whole agency goes there for lunch and everybody loves it!

The food is always good here. Set up cafeteria style with all types of delicious soul food! Their menu changes up a little day to day so call ahead to see what theyre serving. I love their fried fish, the ribs, the sweet potato pie, the greens, macaroni and cheese, and the list goes on. You typically get an entree with 2 sides and bread for under $8. Cant beat it!
