Macguls-o Paquistanês Restaurante Lda - Indian restaurant in Coimbra, Portugal
One of the places I enjoyed eating at on my trip to Coimbra, except I only tried them once on my last day. I ordered fried fish with salad and potatoes, plus a glass of wine, and my wife ordered shrimp with salad and a can of juice. In total we paid 26,5€.
So poor
Good
Ok...
Food is average and not spicy as expected. The location, near the river, is amazing, the room have a really cool painting in the wall of the old city of Coimbra, where you can see how the city was. The ceiling is also amazing. The room is very cold in the winter and you might need to wear a jacket if you go for dinner. No air conditioning system spotted.Prices are a bit high for a Portuguese restaurant and the portions are very small for the price. (Comparing with other restaurants in Portugal)Over all the experience was low/average.
We last visited this restaurant a few years ago. We were not overly impressed then, but decided enough time had passed for there possibly to have been some improvement.Sadly, this was not the case and, in fact, this was less enjoyable. The problem with our first visit centred around the size of the portions which we felt were on the small side for the price charged. Now it seems the portion size is even less and we were struggling to find any protein at all in a couple of the dishes. All the dishes were under seasoned and my personal problem was the amount of sugar in the dishes! My partner agreed but, to be fair, our two companions said they enjoyed the meal. I suppose I should have paid more attention to the menu which categorised the dishes as mild, medium or hot and, in the case of the mild dishes, also stated, "no added sweetener". There was the warning right in front of me as it inferred that the medium and hot dishes were sweetened. Why, heaven only knows, but this level of sweetening was well over the top and ruined everything for me.Onion bahjis we know come in all forms but these flat discs of were of a very un-onion like matter. There was little seasoning and an abundance of grease. The pappadoms, roti and naan were fine as was the rice, but thats about it.So different was this to our first visit, its almost as if the establishment has changed hands. We will not be returning until it does.
Good and friendly restaurant. I like Indian food and this restaurant brings it to you. Price/quality ratio is extremely good. Friendly waiters.
not halal but otherwise most delicious vegetarian desi food in Coimbra.
Good food
A cozinha é excelente e o serviço atento e rápido.
Ótima comida, muito saborosa. Vale a pena experimentar.
Nice calm environment, great variety of tasty food for very competitive prices. During our many visits in last 7 years the good quality of service and food didnt change. Highly suggested
This place was amazing! Somo Portuguese friends recommend this to us and it was totally worth it! The food is great, the service was perfect and the prices were really affordable. I highly recommend it to those who want to enjoy a nice Indian dinner!
Good place for Indian food
I love Indian food
Best Indian in Coimbra. Love it!
Ótimo ambiente, muito bonito e aconchegante. Comida bem temperada e em boa quantidade (porção individual).
He had lunch in there. Very nice food, very affordable too. Try the lunch menus.
Worst Indian restaurant
Very bad taste. Terrible smelly lamb
Great food. Very authentic and the service is friendly. Definitely our place for a curry fix. Highly recommended
An extensive menu which offers both Indian and Portuguese cuisine. Very good service and pleasant ambience. The only Indian restaurant in Coimbra.
Ok so not a food related review but on the website it says closes at 3 pm but we reached at 2.40 pm and the lady said ,kitchen had closed at 2.30 pm. I means seriously? They why did you mention 3pm closing, mention 2.30Pm instead or mention last order at 2.30 pm. Just be specific so it incase in the situation like us you dont have be disappointed
Excellent food. Friendly staff. chicken tikka masala was great. Recommend
Comida saborosa, atendimento bom e rápido. Os preços são um pouco elevados.
Food is not fhat great. Spent Euro 50 for nothing. Not happy.
Great food and great staff. They even gave us the rice for FREE!!(they may not give you the rice for free, we were really nice backCome here!! Way better than most of the Portuguese restaurant we tried so far!
Good indian food i enjoyed
Excelente comida indiana! Vale a experiência!
Good food, nice staff, just wish there was more vegetarian options
Nice decor and friendly atmosphere.Fair price, reasonable food.
A comida é bem confecionada e ambiente acolhedor.
closed and abandoned
Gostei do espaço e do serviço.
Long time costumer, good options for Indian-pakistan style. Its easy for groups with space for many tables and veggie options. Unfortunately price has been increasing on last years and portion reduced.
Tasty food!!
