Macabuca - Bar in George Town, Cayman Islands
Delicious food and a fun atmosphere. I ate so much, Im pretty sure I got pregnant off all the food.
Delicious bar food accompanied by beautiful sunsets and the sound of the ocean crashing onto the shore. Be aware that they have strong mosquitoes here that laugh at the ocean breeze that attempts to blow them away.
Absolutely worth the visit. Eat then snorkle or vice versa. Entrance to the reef is by the outside restaurant. No entry fee. Saw stingrays, tarpons, and many other fish. Youre greeted by many fish once you enter the water. The water is calm and amazingly clear. There is also a scuba dive shop onsite. Park your car in the restaurant parking lot, or in the lot just before the restaurant. Great snorkeling, great service, and delicious food! Try the Cracked Conch and Cobb salad.
Food was great! Atmosphere was even better! Hearing the water crashing against the rocks, WOW!!!
Despite having the worst waitresss ever (totally ignored us for 45 minuteswe loved this place. On the water. Snorkeling right there at the bar. And good drinks and food.
I absolutely love this restaurant! If you’re coming to Cayman this must be on your list. It’s great to snorkel at before your meal as well, super safe and very welcoming. We usually come here for Monday night BBQ but also love the dinner/lunch menus. The food is good, solid quantity and drinks are reasonably priced. The service is also good and attentive even when there are many people there. Would so recommend this place to anyone! Also you must try the ceviche it’s so good!
Conk fritters and coconut shrimp were excellent. The coconut caramel ice cream bar was good tooThen snorkeling after our meal was great
Fantastic experience! Great food, service, and snorkeling! A must do on the island.
Just the best. Great food, awesome location. My Cayman go to👍👍
Macabuca is a fun, relaxing place to catch a sunset with a meal and a drink, or to start a snorkle/ scuba adventure right from the patio. Drinks are expensive for what you get in the drink, but the view is stellar so I keep going. Also, gluten-free options are very limited (no separate fryer). Service is decent and they get busy so be patient. Enjoy!
Amazing place! Fantastic vibe and even better food. We ate almost every meal here. Can’t go wrong.
Food was pretty good. Fast service. Cool to watch divers and snorkeling right off the deck!
Dog friendly and perfect for families... Macabuca has the best tuna ceviche on Island! Far the best!!!!The food runners are lovely, friendly attendants - specially Jéssicá (The French - super kind and excelent at what they do. She will make sure youre well at all times), fair price, good drinks and food.Expectacular Sunset! Worth a visit.
Loved it, and so did the kids. Wear your bathing suit and take a quick snorkel around the dock while you wait for your food to come out. Amazing setting, great staff and delicious food. What more could you ask for?Update: We loved it so much, we went back for another lunch before the end of our trip. The Hummus is excellent. The coconut shrimp is delicious. The staff was once again fantastic. The kids snorkeled off the dock and saw the best underwater life of the trip. We almost couldnt get them out of the water to eat! Put this on your must do list for lunch in Grand Cayman. Bring your snorkel gear!
Amazing place to enjoy the real Grand Cayman! Great bar staff who accommodated our snorkel breaks. We enjoyed the Flounders playing, Spotted Ray, Sting Ray, Squid and a Sea Turtle between beverages and snacks.
Fabulous place to visit for food, scenery, snorkeling, and diving. The food was awesome, and the pina Coladas with Havana Club 7 finished it off. Must place to visit when visiting Grand Cayman.
Our family of four wanted to check this place out before left Grand Cayman so we drove out to it last night. Little did we know they were having a Canada day celebration! Place was hopping with a band and every table and chair taken.Staff came together and gathered a few tables being used for something else and created a space for us to eat!We were thankful for that as it allowed us to stay and enjoy the atmosphere with some great tasting food.Very family friendly and great sunset! We had the fish sandwhich, jerk chix meal, jerk chix sandwhich, and the kids penne pasta. Delicious! Highly recommend!
I don’t even know where to start because we had such an amazing experience here! Macabuca was by far the best food we had on the island! Our goal was to order food we couldn’t find easily in the U.S. so we ordered the Conch Chowder and Conch Platter and the food was absolutely amazing. We sat at a table overlooking the ocean on dried coral reef and the setting was like no where else we ate during our entire trip. On top of that, the drinks were refreshing and better than the high end restaurants we ate at! We didn’t know you could scuba or snorkel there, but we will most definitely be returning to do this the next time we visit!
The tuna tataki tacos were the best tacos I had in Cayman Islands.
Absolutely beautiful area. Dinner, drinks and night diving. Lets not forget thr homemade ice cream sandwiches.
The jerk chicken was amazing!!! Enjoyed our meal. View was spectacular!!!
We did a late day dive through the on-site dive shop, wonderful mini wall and reef. On our way out of the water we encountered a large beautiful stingray which drove the snorkelers relaxing on the dockside bar back into the water to revel. Stayed for dinner and was not disappointed with the food or drinks. Cant wait to come back. Maybe as soon as tomorrow!
One of our favorite places to hang out in Grand Cayman. The food and drinks are excellent. Snorkeling and diving out back. A really good place to spot sea turtles and fish.
Awesome place to visit, great vibe
A great place for informal dining beside the sea. A good selection menu and drink options. Reasonably priced compared to other Grand Cayman restaurants.
Great food in a great location!
We had such a great experience at the Cracked conch that we had to come back and try Macabuca. The place is super laid back and casual and the sunsets are amazing, but the service is what makes this place worth the review. Jess was our server and we ended up spending 4 hours there just laughing and having a great time. Highly recommend this place and the Cracked Conch. But if you can’t get in to the cracked conch the menu is available at Macabuca!
Everyone raves about this place and I finally got to experience why! The drinks are on point, food is fantastic, service is great. We loved lunch so much, we had to come back for the Monday night all you can eat BBQ! AND GOT THE TSHIRTS! Oh, and they have the cleanest restrooms ever!
Amazing enough it seems like a tourist trap but it’s some of the best food on the island cocktails are fantastic sunset views are amazing bring your snorkeling gear swim right off the patio
Great spot! Nice bar and lunch while snorkeling.
Great food, presentation was exceptional, service was great
Terrific restaurant with a beautiful view. The drinks were very good, and they had a handy kids menu. I highly recommend the Conch Rundown.
We tried many spots around this island and this place wins hands down for the quality of service, the flavors and the variety of food. Something for everyone. The best place for ceviche. Tried the tuna and the conch. They were out of the coconut ceviche. But if the two we had are an indicator, my bet is the coconut ceviche is amazing.Mixed drinks hit the spot and they have taps with local brews. For dinner we were eclectic. We had a cesar salad and it was exactly what it should be. I have the seafood curry with rice and loved it (I am of Indian descentand my son had the jerk chicken panini. The panini according to him wasnt flavorful enough. But hey...The views are the best and the people that work here just really nice. Plus they added a sign for Ukraine on their sign 💕So after a week here, this is my #1 spot!
Good atmosphere. Food was good. Right when we sat down a big wave hit and almost knocked our table over. Quickly moved to another table but fun experience.
I want to say I visited Grand Cayman Island 🏝 for my third time and Macabuca for my second time and the food and Environment is awesome. It is Probably the coolest place on the whole island especially if you’re a scuba diver, it is a divers Paradise restaurant.I was there two days back to back for dinner on my second day I did a night dive with my dive operation for the week living the Dream Divers and I had the greatest experience right at the end when a huge turtle basically charged at me which was absolutely exhilarating. Thank you again for offering this type opportunity to have this special environment for Divers/food and drinks 🍹 😋🤿Thank you,Edward Alligier
Best ocean view Tiki Bar. The staff and other guests are so friendly and fun. Had a great time. Will be the first stop I make on my return to the island.
Loved the atmosphere right on the water. Snapper sandwich was too for for pan fried and sauce very good. Ice cream Sandoval are their specialty dessert. Recommended.
Come for the sunset, stay for the lack of the will to leave. Best watering hole in West Bay. FYI - Tash at the bar sure knows her whiskey. Ask her for some reccomendations, you wont be disappointed.
Fantastic spot to ease your troubles. The food is very good (must try the Lamb Burger!), the location is spectacular, and the staff are awesome! Phil will sling you something cold to wet your whistle, and Jen will give you the best service with a smile. You may even spot a local celebrity or 2. Make sure you try the Crown Royal Maple!
Really nice and relaxing bar to watch the sunset from, has a selection of local draft beers from both of the local on island breweries. A bit different from the seven mile beach resort bars, set on the iron shore for a more interesting view of the waves lapping in.Added advantage of pre drink diving available from the onsite shore diving centre with the added bonus of a very nice restaurant onsite upstairs.
This was our favorite dinner location. The view was stunning of sunset. We could see cruise ships leaving the island. The food was outstanding, our family had tacos, hamburgers and fish and chips. We did try the appetizer sampler and shrimp appetizer, the shrimp was outstanding but the sampler was disappointing. The food was a good value compared to other restaurants. We had one beer and two mixed drinks, 4 entrees and the appetizers, and our bill was $125, which is not bad.
What a great spot on the water. The divers were doing night dives while we were out there so the night lights made it extra cool viewing. The conch was cooked great for our appetizer. We also enjoyed drinks and tacos, sandwiches and all.
Great bar in West Bay. Food is very nice and drinks are reasonably priced. Divers coming in and out of the water at all times of the day. Ask for Danny Boy. He’s an excellent bartender. Polite and helpful. Best spot in West Bay. Music is pretty good too.
A favorite restaurant on the island. Good beer/drinks. Good food. Great atmosphere. Awesome sunsets
Real nice place for a sunset dinner. Great views. It was fun watching the divers lights shine under the water at night. Food was great and fairly priced. This place sets right on the water. I recommend making this a stop.
We were there for the Monday night BBQ. Food was excellent, fresh, and a wide variety. Comfortable and casual. The margaritas hit the spot too. Bonus is shore diving and snorkeling. We even saw a small school of fish jumping around.
Amazing view, great cocktails, exceptional conchWe’ve returned 3 times for the conch ceviche, one of the freshest and most balanced we’ve had. It’s a full meal, nearly! We also loved the conch platter (fried conch, conch ceviche, conch frittersand would order it again if we had calories to spare. The fritter has a nice, delicate heat—best on the island that we’ve had! The calamari is also spectacular, both in its prep and in the sauce. We’re not huge pina fans, but were won over by the pina with passionfruit. And now, we’re about to snorkel here as well, since the bartenders say it’s amazing!!!
Scenic azul ocean views from casual picnic tables overlooking divers in water. Daily specials. Friendly staff.
One of our absolute favorite places in Grand Cayman. Would eat here everyday if we could. Never been too busy the few times weve been. Food is amazing along with the staff and views. If you can, bring some snorkel gear when you come and enjoy a quick dip in the ocean right off the patio. Will be back again and again and again.
Great place for drinks and bar snacks. Very relaxed and casual outdoors with shade or you can sit in the sun. We had rum cocktails and some chicken wings, watching the surf spray up against the rocks as it was quite a blustery day. You wont get seated too close to the sea if it is a windy day, so dont worry, but watch out!
