MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub in Miamisburg

I was an employee at this location for over five years. I had such a love for my customers and my job. I saw through 6 different general managers over my time there, however I honestly believe the new management team will finally run this place into the ground. In February I made the choice to move on and use my degree in health care instead. Very bittersweet and I genuinely will be sad to see this place go, but I highly recommend you spend your hard earned money elsewhere where employees and customers are valued. Terrible company all around.

Trash this place is going down in flames hoping a decent restaurant replaces this one. Such a shame this used to be a pretty elite place management is so unprofessional. Hope you make it to next year

The GM has run this store into the ground, (DOES NOT WEAR GLOVES WHEN PREPARING FOOD, RAW to COOKEDoverworked employees, short staffed, management talks to employees in a condescending manner. Terrible environment!

Just some bullet points (Party of 7). You decide!- Waiter took half our order then told us to start over to make it easier for him.- Came back to table said no Caesar salad because they were out of Romain lettuce. My wife ordered a wedge salad and got Romain lettuce.- Forgot two orders of soup, and two of my childrens side dish.- Greek dressing for two salads was broke and uneatable.- If the wait staff had half an ounce of ambition they would have received over 20% tip and drive our bill over $100 for soup and salad.Fire all your staff and start over. This place is a dumpster fire!

This was our 2nd and last visit. The 1st visit wasnt horrible, it actually left us thinking this place has potential. The food wasnt bad or great. The service was kinda slow. The 2nd visit was awful. Almost everything has something wrong. And a large portion of the menu was unavailable. We sat at our table for at least 15 minutes before being greeted by our server. Who offered to take our drink order when he returns. Then 5 minutes later when he returned for our drink order we were told he couldnt take our food order until he returns with our drinks. Like I said everything that came out had something wrong with it. The BBQ sliders had little BBQ sauce and no dressing on the slaw so really it was really just cabbage and the meat was barely warm. The street corn nachos are clearly just microwaved cheese and no actual nacho cheese. My fish and chips, my 4th selection but first thing on the menu actually available, the fish was burnt. My wifes beet salad had way to much wilted and rotten arugula in it. Also her quesadilla clearly had old chicken on it. It was so dry. My daughters pasta was missing the bread stick. I had to ask for it twice to get it. The server did bring extra to make up for and apologized and told us they are very short staffed. We had to ask for refills on our drinks. Not one thing left us wanting to go back.

Fish & Chips came out cold, had to send back. Pretzel cheese drip was bland hardly any taste.

Stood waiting at the hostess station for an extended time. Never even acknowledged. Server came to station 3 times and didnt even acknowledge us. Obviously they didnt need our business. This was our first visit and they dont have to worry about a second visit. I would give this place zero stars and recommend no one ever go here.

While I’m Columbus for business we hosted a team gathering. The food was delicious (flatbreads - yumand perfect temperatures. Staff is courteous and the place is clean! Thank you Kevin, Cortney, Jonathan, Rusty and everyone! Great times!

Gabby is phenomenal. I appreciated her upbeat and kind disposition. Keep at it girl. You are great in this industry. Thank you for being so fun, personable, attentive, & gracious. I enjoyed watching her interact with other customers. She treated everyone like they were her only customer.

Friendly host greeted and seated us quickly. Good service, great menu, delicious food. Loved the beer selection too!

Enjoyed my lunch, my server was very good.

Stopped in this weekend with my family around 2 pm. Restaurant appeared empty aside from 3 tables seated outside. We sat outside for over 30 minutes waiting to someone to take our drink orders. Two separate servers walked by and rushed away to nearby tables. Attempted to flag someone down to take our order but no server could be found. We decided to get up and leave to go somewhere else. All of the servers were seated together at a table towards the back of the restaurant. No one even said anything as we walked out. So disappointed as we have previously enjoyed their food. Won’t be going back.

Why did I wait so long to eat here? A bunch of great sandwiches and specialty pizzas on the menu. Theres really something for everyones taste here. Im not a vegetarian, but we got a pizza known as the "Sequoia," which had sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and pine nuts, with pesto sauce. It was delicious.

Waited 7/10 minutes at the host stand while multiple employees looked over but never acknowledged that I am standing there just waiting to be seated. I understand if busy but there were 2 tables…that’s it. This is the company that bought Max & Erma’s and killed it, just save time and close your doors if you cannot handle 2 tables. I won’t waste my time again giving them a 2nd chance. I left and went to a neighbor restaurant that was more than happy for the business.

Great atmosphere. We went for burgers. Both were very salty and we probably should have sent them back. This is our second time here, and to be honest, the burgers the first time were perfect. Ill try them again on a different night and see if we get a different outcome. Other than that the experience was good.

The pizza is great and the beer selections is good. The appetizers are average. Overall the place is good.

We had a good time. It was a new place to attend. We all loved our food. Environment was pleasant and the atmosphere was interesting. We will attend again.

I really wanted to live this place as they have some great decor but I had to hear the entire night how understaffed they were. I am not sure if people are out here acting a fool and being impatient but it seems like many places are understaffed. Thats the new normal now so as a customer I understand and will wait but hearing you tell me over and over is a bit much. I ordered the Cowboy nachos. They were cold and the cheese was hard. The "fresh" guacamole was days old. My husband had one of the burgers with pulled pork. It was delicious. The fries saved the day or else I would have been very hungry afterwards.

One of the most well rounded restaurants I think Ive had the pleasure of coming across. The food is breath taking and at a price you cant beat, same goes for the beer! They have an eccentric assortment of beers to choose from that you wont find at many other restaurants. Top it off with a very friendly staff and you have a very unique restaurant that stands above all the rest 🥳

Just tried this place for the first time. We ordered through GrubHub, and the delivery Driver forgot half of our order. The restaurant management noticed this, called me, and brought the order to us themselves. One excellent customer service! And, the food was very good too. Particularly liked the Reuben pizza. I can’t speak enough for how wonderful it was to see such great customer service. A place that cares this much about their customers deserves everybody to go and try them. And you will enjoy the food too!

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub is one of my local favorites. The foods always good and the service always friendly.

My family was not impressed. Meatloaf tasted like a huge hunk of hamburger not a traditional meatloaf at all. My daughter had a penne pasta that had no flavor. My other daughter had the hot Hawaiian pizza that reminded her of school lunch pizza crust.

Food was okay but not the best. I went there for a business lunch. I got the Rueben and chips on a recommendation from our waitress. It was just ok. There wasn’t very much meat on the sandwich and the chips were stale. The service was great though.

solid selection of local craft beers and who doesn’t like an ice rail to keep there beer cool.

Had drinks and wanted dinner but settled for drinks and a couple appetizers. The dinner menu wasnt what we were looking for. The waiter actually forgot to put in our appetizers order so we were there longer than we wanted to be. The waiter was nice but had one excuse after another as to why things were taking longer, or why he needed to take our glasses, not that we care why. We wont go back for awhile just because the dinner menu didnt appeal.

everytime I come here it’s been great! The greek salad is to die for, the greek-feta dressing they have is so delicious i have yet to order anything else! it’s SO good! not to mention the staff, manager, and bartenders are always so friendly and accommodating! I love this place and will continue to come back :)

Had a pleasant dinner here. It is pretty casual and well kept. Some staff seemed distracted despite being not very busy, but our waitress was very nice. It did take about 30 min for the food to come out but the waitress said she had asked the cook to redo one of our dishes as it was not up to par. Whether this was the case or they forgot, I dont know! But we were not in any hurry and the long dinner was actually very nice for us. Their pizzas are killer and their sandwiches are very good as well.

I traveled to Ikea to get some things for my photography office.My daughter, daughter in law and a friend went with me.After our ikea trip, we googled restaurants near me. This place came up.Lucky us we hit happy hour! We were planning the Flatbread pizzas and they were half off along with appetizers.We tried 4 different flatbreads and shared along with pretzels with beer cheese.We all loved it and are planning to take our guys there on our next trip to Columbus!The inside is decorated very cool! There is a half wall of “trees”. We will go back.

The food tasted nice. Some things werent exactly what I expected, though. I ordered what amounted to cheese bread, which looked golden and crispy on their website, but when I received it it was a pale white color. Server also asked several times whether I wanted something more in addition to the bread I mentioned, which made me feel self-conscious and embarrassed about my order. Not exactly what I want from a server.

My husband and I came in for a late dinner from out of town. There were only 3 other tables seated and already eating. We ordered pulled pork nachos and a cheeseburger with fries. We waited almost 30 minutes for our food, and when it came, the guacamole on the nachos was brown from sitting in the window, there was no sour cream or salsa, and the very small amount of pulled pork was jerky dry. Despite having an issue, calling our server over to witness, and requesting a change on our ticket, we did not receive a visit from a manager. The bartender was also incredibly loud, shouting profanities to the other staff about closing their tickets so she could get out of there. Overall was unimpressed in all aspects and will not return.

Food was delish, I will dream about this salad! They have the tortilla soup made popular by Max & Ermas, very similar, but they have to spin it themselves, right? Cool setup and features inside, patio was nice.

Very cool, chill vibe type restaurant with some great food, plenty of parking and friendly service. Good beer selection. Their nachos, pizza and spicy chicken sandwich were all great. Salad is portioned well and good sauce varieties. They have a patio with firepits and garage doors that open up when the weather is nice. Good dim lighting creates a very cool atmosphere. Will def go back.

Everyone is very nice, it’s very comfortable inside and clean, and the food is delicious! Highly recommend!

We had dinner at this restaurant and we loved it ! The food was all very good and we didn’t have too long of a wait. Staff was friendly. The only negative I have is that they have 2 menus but we were given just one to order from- the other was in a book of desserts/ alcoholic drinks and we just happened to see it after ordering, and there were things that we would have ordered had we seen it. Not sure the reason for 2 separate menus ??Bathroom was also not very clean. Other than this, the interior aesthetics, taste of the food, and price were all great ! We would come back !

The good: Excellent food. Friendly staff. Decent prices. Holiday specials.The bad: each of the three times Ive been there, they were out of something. The stall in the mens room is broken (and has been at all three of my visits), but can still close and lock.The ugly: nothing, really.Overall, all my experiences have been almost entirely pleasant. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would.

Great stout and a variety of other beers. In terms of food, they have a large menu ranging from burgers, main course salads and, of course, specialty pizzas. A favorite in our group was the Thai pizza.

The pizza was great and the service was even better. We had the flat head large original and it was quite rich and the combination of toppings were great.

First time eating here. Service was fine and the street taco trio was tasty! The chicken tortilla soup tastes like what Max & Ermas use to sell.

I loved the atmosphere! I am a huge fan of anything outdoors and they brought the outdoors indoors! The food was amazing everyone was happy with their choice and the service was great!

Great pub food. The Steak bites are a delicious appetizer with blue cheese dip. Everything was delicious.

This place is awesome! The Chicken Club Rolls are about the best appetizer out there. Their Pizza is great! The Nachos are top notch. My new favorite place to eat.

We were here for a day long seminar and grabbed this for lunch. Our waitress was great, and prepared a table for us with our appetizer order since we were stuck in traffic and had a time limit. The lodgepoles were absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend. I got the Rise and Shine Burger with fries and loved it. Such a good find in this area, it was wonderful.

Everything here was fantastic! The artichoke dip, apple & chicken flatbread, MacKenzie Alfredo, Bourbon bites and drinks were all great. They dont skimp on the bacon either! :)We will definitely be back to explore more of the food, and the service from Russel was great. They had a good amount of drinks on tap, and the atmosphere was nice as well. You should definitely give this place a go!

This place was nice inside. The bar was big and and looked to be well stocked. I had pulled pork bbq. It was pretty good. Id have it again. My fiancee had the apple chicken flatbread. She asked that they leave off bacon that comes on it. Well they left off the bacon as asked but left off the chicken also.

I went with my girlfriend and another couple.The atmosphere was great, the food was really good.We all ordered the same time, my one friend got the same burger as I did.The picture of the empty table area was my food. There was none.We were going to a show and had to go.I got my burger an hour later.I asked for a manager and another waiter came over to us. He said they have been having problems with the kitchen.He said Ill take the burger only off the bill.I asked again for a manager and was told their busy. In their defense It was busy there.I had to take my meal with me.I took a couple of bites in the car on the way to the show.I have to say that was the best cheeseburger that I ever had. I believe it was the cold miner. I did have to throw it out because I didnt have refrigerator in our truck.What a shame, its a nice place.

The food was great, beautifully presented and large portions. I had to ask for a to go box as soon as my Cobb salad came out. The waitress was efficient, friendly and attentive. I would definitely go back.

Everything on the menu is unique and delicious . Service is fast given the size of the place . Stopped here on a whim and definitely not regretting it . Chorizo balls are a bit on the spicy side (this is a good thing). Bison burger is fresh and the toppings delicious and plentiful.

Loved this place! The food was very unique and delicious. Especially the flat breads. I got the portobello citrus. We went here twice while down in Columbus so we could try other things on the menu. Their hot sauses are great, especially zombie blood. Yum!! The only complaint I have is the service is kinda slow even when they werent busy. So is more of a place you go when you arent in a hurry. The servers are nice and helpful. The deco is beautiful. Definitely worth experiencing and eating here. Will be back!
