Mac Johnson Wildlife Area - Nature reserve in Brockville, Canada
Beautiful trails. Never know what youll find.Only downside is too many mosquitos
I have been to many parks and lakes but I have never found such peace and tranquility anywhere that I found here. No noise except the birds chirping and the ones made by the insects. Every little splash of water or any little crack can be heard if you sit in silence. Perfect place to rejuvenate and enjoy the peace.
A great place for a short hike. The Brock Trail leads to a fire station with with an old rail tank in their backyard.
Very nice area but several Is there is several pot holes as you pull in through the parking area, could use some gravel
Lots of trails, very clean
Love the scenery, and trails.
A great park with well maintained trails. Lots of wild life, minimal garbage. Paths Get a little wet after a rain.Never went here outside of covid time though so I dont know if that has an effect.
Nice place to enjoy nature. The swans are beautiful.
Great place to cross country ski n snowshoe :quiet, not crowded during week.
I love watching the wild life here geese, eagles, squirrels and fish
Not a wow factor for regular walkers, but nice trail for day-to-day walks with beautiful fall colors and frequent views of the water.
Went for a walk with family and enjoyed the trail and time we were out, great day and trail to walk or bike on.
Nice place for a stroll or just to sit in your car and eat or have a coffee and think.
A nice place to go for a short hike. Its generally on a flat terrain but unfortunately not many views of the water.
Wonderful place to enjoy the stars, have a fire with family and friends and enjoy nature!
Fee for parking but it helps to maintain the facilities- honour system. Trail was nice ,but after a recent rain it was a bit muddy in areas
It was ok during the storm that I watched come in and the water snake. Keep it clean and the trails thanks Peter
Love this place and tons of places to explore around there along with the brock trail.
We just stopped here for a quick spot to have our lunch. We love the wildlife in this great spot. Our only drawback was there were a couple shady people hanging out around the parking lot making people feel uneasy.
Dont forget your bikes, get some water, an hour from Ottawa. Enjoy sunset!
Great place to walk trails in nature, close to town.
Walking trails around the pond/ lake. Osprey nest near path entrance..washroom closed on our visit. Picnic tables near parking lot and covered area nearby
Area was very will kept. Well shaded, nice breeze, great place to just relax a bit.
This trail is absolutely gorgous! Just always make sure to do a really good Tick check as they are really bad! Gorgous view and always nice people to meet! Kid and pet friendly!
Lots of fun lots to look at clean place not scary to be alone out there, but the ticks can take the fun out of it if your into this seen .
Great spot to sit back and enjoy the beauty of nature.
Lovely to read and enjoy fresh air and sunshine 🌞
Great trails in Brockville.
Mac Johnson is a lovely area for a winters hike. It started to snow while we were there. I just wish people with dogs would clean up after their pet. The trail at the south end is getting pretty disgusting.
Lovely swans! Also great trails.
Nice scenery to explore. If you go far enough you start to hear the machines from close by companies. Path is wide and clear for walking and safe.
Beautiful and serene. Has something to offer for all seasons. Some trails can be a little soggy so be prepared!
Very peaceful and quiet. If you like a nice quiet walk with your significant other, or walking your on-leash dog, then Id highly recommend Mac Johnson Wildlife Area. The picture says it all!
Such a beautiful trail
Lovely spot for a nice easy family walk. We brought our dog and took trail #2, saw lots of wildlife, even spotted the osprey! Nice views out over the water.
Lots of parking. Great place just outside of Brockville. Canoe launch area too. My photo is taken from the Centennial Road location.
Lovely forests. Great, easy walking trails. Would have liked to be more along side the water. Good for birding too.
Very nice nature area, great for gatherings and events, with decently maintained, lengthy trails. One of the few places around that doesnt charge a silly daily use fee.
A beautiful park just north of Brockville. Lots of walking trails to enjoy. This is one of the many recreational areas that make Brockville such a great place to live or visit.
Lovely trails, and very acceptable washrooms, Good roads into the Reserve and it is well monitored.
Great place to walk, skate or have a fire. They have a gazebo so picnics and BBQS would also be a good idea. There are multiple entrances into the park, free parking and bathrooms. It would be nice if people picked up their dog poop but they dont so beware! Also found other nasty stuff I wont speak if here. Please take your garbage with you!
Its an amazing place to walk and relax. I walked with my dog and she was so happy in the trails. They just need to put more trail signs ..
We love the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area! I work with a non-profit hiking group and we have people there weekly. The trails are amazingly maintained and the Friends of Mac Johnson have been incredible when we work with them. You are doing yourself a disservice if you live in the area and havent been here!
Always a beautiful and magical walk!
Not far from Brockville is this excellent green area to explore, relax, or walk one of the many trails. Gorgeous views of the water in the winter (or any season, reallyand when spring comes, wildflowers blooms and the swans return.
Great place to skate out doors thanks for the hot chocolate and wild life
Beautiful nature preserve meticulously maintained . So many different species of birds visiting or nesting.
Went for an evening walk with my sister here. I was so amazed at the beauty of the place, I had to catch up with her every other 5 minutes. Right after the parking lot is the beautiful pond + lake area where you will most likely see the lil geese family with their lil ones roaming around. They are the cutest! That feeling of breathing in the crisp fresh air and the smell of earth was just priceless. I couldnt stop myself from taking pictures of this place as it had so many varieties of trees/landscapes/flowers/insects. We walked around for 2 km and rewarded ourselves with a well deserved bacon bbq burger right after ;(
Entered off Centennial and went on a winter walk. The trail is shared with ATVs so be somewhat mindful (I didnt see anyone).
Plenty of easy walking trails with water and forest views. There are a large variety of native tree and shrubs including rare ones such as black maple. Plenty for the bird watcher including swans
