Mabel Lake Provincial Park - Campsite in Salmon Arm, Canada
We paid for our site online. The camp attendant came around and asked for payment. Because I could not connect to my online banking, we assumed it didnt charge our visa. So we paid the $69 cash for each site. It turns out we were charged on our visa, and paid in cash. So we were double charged for both sites. And no one is willing to do anything about it.
Clean campground with both some open and more private sites to choose from. Beach access, flush toilets, firewood (for small fee), garbage and recycling stations as well as $5 tank septic clean out. Trails throughout campsite and stunning waterfall nearby on a short, easy walk from site.Would definitely camp here again!
The site is stunning, the campsites are spacious.
Very good roads in to the provincial campground and Cottonwood Beach from lumby side. Beautiful beaches, very busy in summer, slightly cooler swimming with the still ice cold creeks, great fishing I hear!
Great place for camping, relax without any phone service signals, just to enjoy nature.
Beautiful lake and best park staff ever!
We went to there last Sunday, so worth it that we went to this lake so beautiful not crowded at all,our group enjoyed boating in a very clear water
Nice campground with close proximity beaches well kept and quite after 9
Absolutely beautiful here. Came up here 2 days in a row to go swimming and paddle boarding. Really nice!
We stayed in campground only one night as the mosquitos were intense (according to park ranger the worst in years probably due to all the rainy spring and early summer of 2022but it was the smoke from the campfires that made me decide not to stay for the second night. At sunset you could see the campfire smoke hanging over the lake. It was warm enough to need the windows open in our camper and it took until 2 am for it to dissipate enough that I felt I could breath normally. We were in spot #18 in the middle of the campground, so dont know if that had anything to do with it. Wood smoke is actually bad for your lungs and the environment but culturally the "thing" to do while camping. We carry a propane fire ring. The lake was nice for kayaking and there was very little boat traffic. If you dont count the dock area, there are few beaches on which to land and the trees and bushes go right up to the waters edge (maybe again the lake was really full from all the rain?Didnt see any wildlife except a few marmots.
I and 4 other friends camped at Mabel Lake Provincial Park for two nights in June 2022 and it was such a great experience though it was raining when we got there. We didnt have a reservation as we decided to go last minute. You need at least two days before the planned arrival to book a site as there is no cell reception at the park. The park hosts and rangers were accommodating and helpful. They even replied to our FB and messenger inquiries for the availability of sites for walk-in campers. The site is well maintained. I and my friends loved the clean flushing toilet and new modern sink to wash dishes and other stuff. There is a small store and SUP, kayak and even boat rentals. Bring cash. No debit or card purchase here. Theres a trail inside the park. I love the tall and mighty trees around. As usual firewood is expensive. And only lacking in this place is a shower room. But its a safe and lovely place as a base camp if you plan to explore trails and waterfalls nearby.
Beautiful, secluded with a store and nice playground for the kids. Good people and lovely water.
Excellent park. Beautiful clean. Very friendly helpful staff. But it sucks when your neighbor campsite is up at 6:30am on Saturday morning splitting wood! Quite time is 11pm-7am 🤗
Amazing, no other word can describe this beautiful place :)
A wonderful campground. If I’m not mistaken the campground manager name was Jeff and he was absolutely wonderful. He was so knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The campground is right by the lake and the lake is very calm and a perfect place for stand up paddling. The campgrounds are a perfect size. There is a day use beach and a playground for families with kids. They have wood for fire and washroom have water for washing your hands. One of the best campground I’ve been to in British Colombia. Thanks again to the wonderful park manager that made our stay more special.
The people and Kaloya Contracting who employs them are anything but hospitable, dont matter which park you go to that they manage theyll use whatever rule they can to draw every bit of dollar out of you. For example in July they wanted is to pay an extra $22/day because we had an extra 16.5 year old teenager in our group above the max amount allowed, also theyll always charge you for an extra vehicle even when the total occupants on the site is only 4 or less.We understand rules and that they have to be followed, but this company pushes all their employees to the max to enforce only the ones that creates extra income, this we experienced grom several parks they look after. There is a better way to balance this, but when you are blinded by the greed for money you wont even notice this. This day and age when its increasingly hard to get families and youth out and away from all the modern distractions of society we should be encouraging people coming, instead of creating bad vibes with such a strict management of our parks.
Great Prov. Park. Campsites are big, well kept. The lake is awsome and beaches are good too. Dogs are good away from the sand beach.
Nice beach for a daytime activities and a short swim. Convenient boat launch. Big camp sites but with very little privacy because they are brand new and dont have any bushes around them yet.
Be prepared for no cell phone service at all.Use a physical map or plan the routes ahead, bring cash because no debit machines too.Full tank of fuel too, cuz it is a long distance around and over mountain terrain when travelling the north route.Overall, a great place to get away for this boy scout in a nature hideaway, great setting to get away from city life! Will be back as often as possible now that my first experience was so rewarding.
Great camp site have been going for 18 years.Completely disappointed in the rule change to 100% reservation policies, you have taken away from the people the opportunity to take off camping for the week or weekend. Noticed that around 30%of your sites were empty. And if they are available 1-2 nights is all thats being offered. Prior to this change 14 days was the duration for 1st come 1st served sites.
Beautiful gem in BCs interior. Cold water but very refreshing. Park has to be one of the best maintained BC Parks we have ever been to. No cell service so plan ahead.
We stayed in the new Taylor Creek campground. Just beautiful! Loved every bit of it. Very clean, very peaceful. Id definitely come back and stay at that site
Water is still very cold (May). A good number of people, yet not too many. Covid safe behaviours. Beautiful scenery. Enjoy the lesser travelled lakes. Excellent washroom facilities. Nice pic nice area. Boat launch nearby and parking.
Big secluded lake, with good spirs fir tenting and r.vs. Sandy beach and nice playground for kids. Cascade falls is 15km up the lake and worth the drive up the dirt road.
Beautifull Beach and Lake!!Camp ground looks very inviting.
This park is fantastic! Big sites, friendly staff and a beautiful lake. One of my local favourites
I really love this park and hope to camp here one day. I love coming here to spend the day on the off leash dog beach as there are not many in the Vernon area. It would be so nice if the park staff/province would groom and maintain the dog beach with the same care as the other beaches
We just finished up a great four day camping trip here. Its a perfect spot for kids - playground, bike trails, fishing from the beach and nice swimming areas. There are both dog beaches and no-dog beaches. The campsite was clean, had a great firewood system and was quiet. It was one of two provincial parks we have been to this year that actually kept on top of cancelled reservations making sure people knew which sites were available for a night or two - way to go to the staff/hosts. Other provincial campgrounds we have visited this summer had prime sites sit empty for nights which was a shame because we saw many people drive through and leave thinking there was no place to stay.
Beautiful..nice place..not bad for fishing off the docks. Open space for running an playing..camping is ok for price 20 or 22 a night..oh watch out for Mable the turkey and her babies on your way their..she likes to walk a long the road and ditches.its awsome
This is a super fun place to camp. It has a nice lake, a general store floating on the water, and a multiple fields to make the campground fire safe. They say there is only one dog beach, but the ranger said you can have dogs anywhere without bouyies. Also wasps and musqitos were minimal, even if there were a lot of flies. Will come again. ᕦ(ಠ_ಠ)ᕤ
This is a very nice campground with almost all the amenities of the major provincial parks. Doesnt have paved roads or showers but it does have flush toilets. The beach isnt really usable until mid to late July and the water is BRISK! Kids will love the playful ground hogs. The playground is also very good. Lots of grassy areas for frisby, etc. We try and go out here every year.
Just got back from a week long camping trip to Mabel Lake. This campground is beautiful. The lake was 6 ft. high so the beach was not there. Cant wait to go back. The sites are very clean and level. There is a $5c harge for the sani dump. It take only coins.
New campsites going in this year should be available for next season. Large green spaces for kids, boat launch, some small trails for walking. Nice bathrooms and a good family site. Water level is high in spring and fishing is hit and miss.
First time at Mabel Lake and all I can say is WOW. Gorgeous location. We had cold/rainy weather and the lake level was super high (expected at this time of yearbut it didnt deter us. This campground is great for families and kids and there is lots to explore just up the logging road - cascade falls and the enchanted forest. No cell service and its a ways out there. Be sure to pack in everything you need!
Wonderful place to go camping or just to spend the day. The campsites are very well kept and clean. Large day use area with plenty of picnic tables and fire pits. General store on the lake and a playground for the kids to play. Nice clear water fed from the monashees and really good fishing!
The campground is a little out of the way but well worth the extra travel.
The lake is beautiful/"warm", the campsite has a great layout, and the staff are the best! My wife, dog and I came without a reservation on the long weekend, and the park warden Jeff was extremely helpful and kind, we ended up with one of the best spots in the site!It is a perfect place for families - there are grassy areas basically surrounding every site, well taken care of, so tons of room for playing and running. The beaches are great as well!
Great camping location with thick lush campsites. The bathrooms are single stall with a sink and running water. No showers. Lots of green space and beach and a nice kids park. Large area bikes are a great idea. You can rent boats and water equipment from the little convenience store.
Boat launch is very nice and suitable for a up to a 25 foot boat year round but when the lake level goes down in the late summer fall months you.need to be carefully no to back your trailer off the end of the ramp.or.youll do some pretty good damage to it potentially. Dock is also very nice. The new camp hosts are very nice and accommodating to your needs, they also do a nice job maintaining the campground and beach.
Had a great time camping here at the main campground. The basics - our site was big enough for multiple tents and 2 cars. There are a few pairs of flush toilets in the campground, kept in reasonable condition. The tap water seemed drinkable. There is a marina boat launch near the overflow camping and day use and general store with ice and a few essentials. The lake - there are multiple beaches and grassy areas. The sand is medium fine, with a few rocks. The water is fairly clean and cold. The scenery is beautiful, its a massive lake surrounded by mountains. There are logging 4x4 trails all over the mountain, a short hike to Cascade waterfalls, and the Mystic Trail to explore.
It is a wonderful camping ground, if there is a shower facility, we would definitely give it a 5 star. The staff are very nice and they keep the washroom clean all the time. We love it and definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Nice campsite. Some staff very friendly...except the one lady with colourful hair running the place. I’ve been camping there 2 years in a row and every time I or family or friends have to deal with her she is nothing but a nightmare and all I keep hearing is complaints about her. How she holds a job in this industry is beyond me. Would be a much nicer place to camp if they got rid of her and hired someone with people skills and a good attitude
A great provincial park on a beautiful lake. Many of the sites have great views of Mable Lake but all sites are close to the lake with easy access. There are nice grassy meadows between many of the loops giving the feeling of spaciousness. There is a small marina that rents boats and has ice. The park has an overflow field just in case you can’t get one of the first come, first served sites.
This is a great campsite with well maintained sites and washrooms so it gets 3 stars; however, the 11 pm - 7 am quiet time (and I use the term "quiet" looselyonly seems to be for some people and not ALL people. Im curious about all the comments about the people who were harassed for talking quietly around their fire after 10 oclock because the park attendants didnt seem to care about the noise the weekend I was there. As an aside, and I know I wont be too popular, but I have to say this: Parents - just because your kids are outside in nature, doesnt mean they should be allowed to scream at the top of their lungs constantly, particularly if theyre driving you crazy and you send them away to scream where I am. Some people camp to find a little bit of peace and quiet. My only happiness is knowing that for as much noise that you made partying the night before, your little ones will ensure you are up bright and early.
Best place to camp, huge lake to fish! Great play area for the kids and great beach! The hosts, Jeff and Weasy, are very accommodating, organized and easy to deal with. ( sometimes they put on some activities for the kids, like on canada day!We are seasonal park users and love it at Mabel lake!
Beautiful place to go walking on trails or snowshoing.
I visited the week after kids went back to school, so it was pretty deserted. Nice. Friendly folks at the floating General Store. How many campgrounds have flush toilets & sinks and playground for the kids? Pretty lake, too -- but of course no fish from shore; you need a boat with cannonballs on cables and a sonar fish finder to have any hope of harvesting one of the last few trout.
Really pleased that the outhouses were flush toilets. The beach was super busy, but we managed to find a spot to play. Loved the Taylor Creek hike.
First camp-out of the season!!!Mabel Lake Provincial Park is incredible! The lake is pristine - clear and cold, the sites are spacious and the setting therapeutic.Good clean FUN!!!
lovely view of the lake, nice camping spots, nice trails too. The one thing that didnt make this stay enjoyable was the staff. There were 2 people that drove around and were saying that were complaining, when we werent. All we asked was for someone to clean the table that had been puked on by the previous campers. They said, "We dont clean the tables we only clean the ground, and you guys came earlier then u should have" when we came after 1:00pm so they had actually 2 hours to clean it. The man that was raking the ground only raked twigs and thats it.I would give the park itself 5 stars, but staff 1 star.
