Ma-Der Ma-Der Sap House and Grill in Redding
Description
Privilege
Fine spot for bar food. Food was super flavorful. Really nothing but enjoyable experiences here, Ill be back. It has a great feel to it
MoreThe staff here is amazing! Restaurants like this arent easy to find in the Redding area and the staff suggestions were incredibly helpful. I love that they have a large selection of sauces ranging from mild to deliciously fiery. Ive never been disappointed when we come here to eat.Parking here is the worst, but Id walk a mile for their tacos.
MoreReally good food! Genuine cooks and a fun menu. The loaded fries were amazing
My favorite food stand in Redding! The staff are friendly, the chefs are amazing, and the food is top notch. Get the Philly Cheesesteak Fries and the Lao Sausage Egg Rolls. You won’t be sorry.
MoreSo friendly, and the food is PHENOMENAL. Fries are perfectly seasoned, eggs cooked beautifully soft. If you like it spicy, try the thai chile hot sauce. It burns so good.
MoreSap bowl with sticky rice and spicy Thai sauce has truly unique flavor. I am compelled to come here every time I am in town. Very very very good.
MoreThis place is one of the best thai food place here in Redding. Trust me you defiantly will love all the foods on the menu. So if you dont stop here and try the food then you definitely need help with your life.
MoreFries cut to order::Tri-tip combo::Egg RollsEverything excellent as always. A little less rice than I would prefer but that was only because it was so close to closing- I dont hold that against them.
MoreLook, I know that the fad lately is to take Asian fusion food and stuff it in a tortilla. I get it. But do yourself a favor and order the Sapprito with sticky rice and some thai chili sauce (or any other excellent sauceand thank me later. This place is a love letter to traditional flavors presented in a consumer friendly package. If youre not eating Ma-Der Ma-Der youre missing out.
MoreCool little bitty food truck style fusion restaurant! Food was very flavorful and their choice of sauces was quite extensive with a scale from sweet to spicy. I got the tacos and they were great! My girlfriend had the clam chowder and said it was a 8/10
MoreToday was my first time at Ma-Der Ma-Der Sap House. The gentleman working the register was very friendly and welcoming. The place was clean. The cooks were fast getting my lunch order out. I ordered the combo Pad Thai....absolutely delicious. I will definitely be returning to try the other menu items.
MoreAlways the freshest and tastiest! Tiny lil cozy place with the friendliest people working who remember your face and love to smile. The Sapprito is huge and delicious. Taco Tuesday is an amazing 3 tacos for $6!!! Get the sausage ones they are soooo good! Dont forget to try the homemade sauces either. I love the spicy thai chili sauce 🔥😤🔥makes u breathe fire but so smokey and good!
MoreIncredibly satisfying and creative on its take on Thai fusion - highly recommend the Sappritto, which definitely hit the spot after several hours on the road and left me resoundingly impressed. Service was excellent too - very friendly staff! Locals are certainly lucky to have this unique joint.
MoreI had the pleasure to meet Alain and Sou. Both were extremely welcoming and warm. I found Ma-Der Ma-Der on google and was surprised to have such an excellent meal while I passed through Redding. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a fast food eatery serving wonderful fusion dishes at great prices.I had the Sapprito, Lao sausage tacos, and a beef & fries bowl which was off menu.
MoreLove the Sap House!! My favorite spot in Redding!
Great food, friendly staff, awesome music. Sapritto, or Lao sausage tacos if you’re a first timer, must get a Sap sauce with it! They range from mild to wild. Sweet Thai chili mix is my favorite.
MoreInteresting place. I had the Laos tacos. It was an interesting fusion, though I expected more flavor from the sausage. Ill try something else next time. The smells coming out of this little place where amazing. Be prepared to wait if you are there anytime close to lunch. I was there latish and it took a bit of time to order and another wait to get my food. There is very little indoor seating and even less parking. I strongly suggest getting it to go. Average $10 per person
MoreI have eaten here many times and just now I am writing a review. The food is fabulous. I love the Pad Thai Shrimp and the shrimp tacos. Today I got the clam chowder (Wednesdays onlyand the egg rolls. AMAZING! The staff are super friendly! You will love it!
MoreLegit. The in house sausage is on point. Not too fatty, but not too lean. Really a thought out and well executed recipe. Got the burrito and could only eat half of it. Thai Tea is fantastic as well. Cant wait to try the rest of the menu.Parking is sort of a pain. Had to waddle to the other side of the block, but after stuffing my face its probably not a bad thing.
MoreReal fries and I mean really good fresh cut fries with great flavor. We ordered the philly super good. And my hubby wanted to taste the sausage they put in their tacos and they made him a whole taco for us to try for free and it was awesome. And we got our food fast too. They have egg rolls and rice bowls. We will definitely definitely be back
MoreWe came here on a whim while passing through. I almost second guessed when I saw the quaintness of the building. We entered and were warmly greeted by one of the main dudes. He walked us through what to get and let us try his array of housemade hot sauces. They were BOMB !While we waited, another group came in and special ordered the hottest hottest sauce for her food and we delighted in the excitement we all shared for the spicy challenge.I might go back to Redding just to try this place again.
MoreSausage egg rolls are bomb and I find this is one of the only places in town to get GOOD sticky rice. Sap bowls are delicious and they guys that run it are very friendly.
MoreHouse fried rice.... check it out :this place is so different and delicious. I got the guys that own and operate to finally trust that I want it uber spicy. Had a magma hot dish recently that was next level.
MoreAlways delish! The Saparito is huge and so good. The guys running the place are super friendly and big community supporters. The Lao sausage tacos are my favorite thing on the menu.
MoreI have been thinking about going to this place for quite a while. I saw the reviews and it seemed interesting and eclectic. When I got there it was mostly what I expected, a little small restaurant with some indoor seating and a lot of outdoor seating. The person at the counter was polite and friendly but I had a hard time understanding him. He talked fast, kind of slurred his words and seldom made eye contact. He suggested their most popular entree, the Sappritto, which included:2 eggs; mushrooms; bell peppers; onions; tri-tip; Loa sausage; sticky rice and your choice of sauce. You can get in a tortilla or a "bowl".I selected the bowl and it was served in a rectangular styrofoam container. It really looked unappetizing. The over-easy eggs were cooked on a flattop and most of the white were overcooked, black on the edges and greasy. The yolks were nice and runny which was a saving grace for the dish. The sticky rice was cold and dry, hard to enjoy. I was there within an hour of their opening but the rice was lukewarm and seemed old. I spent a lot of time in Japan and learned kept rice needs to be sprinkled with water every 30 min. in order to keep it moist. The Loa sausage was really nice, good flavor and served hot. The tri-tip was another story. It seemed to be pre-cooked and then warmed on the flattop. It was over-marinated and tasted a little funky, kind of rancid. It was also over-cooked and the pieces were somewhat hard and burnt. This dish would be better in a tortilla as all of the ingredients would mesh together so you couldnt notice their individual faults. When I was leaving the counter-man asked me if I loved the dish. I politely told him that I didnt like it and only ate half of it. He said nothing, not "Im sorry that you didnt like it" or "What is it that we could have done better". Just nothing but blank stares from him and the cook. Some of the things on the menu looked interesting, like the shrimp tacos. But to be honest, I think that I could make them better at home. I doubt that I will be going back.
MoreWhat a cool and delicious place! I first went there and they were great about suggesting what to get, they were excited about their food and for good reason! The Sapporitto burrito was amazing! I went back the very next day and at their suggestion got the Lao Tacos, also a hit! Ill be going back again for sure, next Im trying their Shrimp Tacos or Philly Cheese Steak Fries! Thanks for having such great food!
MoreWhen it comes to a choice restaurant to spend any sort of hard earned money at, this place it worth every penny. The owners are local, wonderful people, who really want to make your food and day as best that they can. Which has remained extremely top notch. When it comes to service, quality, and consistency, this restaurant can serve as a business model that other places should use as a standard for success. I have no favorite item because each meal is exceptional and delicious depending on personal mood and preference. I appreciate that they even opened the doors to cook the wonderful food that they do. I give it 3 thumbs up because 2 just isnt enough.
MoreTried for the first time today! My Sapprito was very filling, giant serving size and great flavor. I tried a couple of their sauces that were bom awesome flavor and definitely had nice spice options (allowing vatiety depending on personal taste). My son loved his Cheesesteak sub, as well! Topping it off with my Thai tea 🍵 And the service I give it 5 stars.
MorePhad Thai burrito. Need I say more. Very small, great for takeout. Be prepared to wait in line sometimes, but its worth it! Delicious creative food fusion
MoreAlways satisfied with the food. Small business, so if they get a lot of orders may be difficult in a time crunch to get your food unless you call ahead. definitely will be visiting again
MoreThis place is amazing!! The location isnt the best and theres barley any parking but dont let that deter you! You have to try the saparrito! The loa sausage is heaven on earth! Seriously so good!!!
MoreGreat food, reasonable prices and an amazing staff.
Place has great food. A great blend of Thai, Laos, and American. If your hungry get the Sapprito. The spicy wings are the bomb too. Only reason why it doesnt get 5 stars is because its a small place.
MoreOne of the first places I came to for food when I got to Redding. Amazing fusion and sauces. I actually got addicted to the food here and finally stopped coming every other day but I still have to stop in at least once a week. Everything here is great!
MoreWe were amazed by the food from this small, cozy restaurant. The chef must have some secret recipe. We ordered burrito, taco and pad Thai. The taste was uniquely delicious. And their sauce was another hidden gem! Highly recommend this restaurant!
MoreWith all the great reviews, I thought this place would be better. I think they have some issues to work out in terms of how to get organized and really what they should be making. I have had multiple items on the menu and they all seem to be lacking a significant flavor - most items are bland including the sapporito - and its quite a wait when you order. Theres also no separate line for takeout orders so if its peak hours, expect a considerable wait (30-40 minbecause you have to wait in line with everyone else ordering and their delivery of food to the tables. Really hoping these are just opening issues that they will work through, but in the meantime, not worth it for me.
MoreFirst time here. Had the blackened shrimp tacos, and Lao sausage egg rolls. Both excellent. Good friendly service. Ready to try more!
MoreWe tried the Sappritto, the philly cheese steak fries, and the egg rolls. All killer, all for reasonable prices. The fries were soft, the meat was tender, the yolks werent cooked all the way in my Sappritto (YES 👌🏼), and the egg rolls were AMAZING. On top of it all, the customer service was top notch. Well definitely be back.
MoreAmazballs! Thank goodness I have friends in Redding because it means I get to enjoy bomb ass food at a pretty reasonable price. The Thai tea is on point!
MoreMar-Der Ma-Der pulls off fusion food so well! The quality of ingredients is outstanding. Additionally, the house-made sauces and Lao sausage are incredibly tasty. I plan to make this place a regular go-to spot!
MoreThis was my first time eating here and I will definitely be coming back. First, let me talk about the service. My wife and I walked in the door to relaxing reggae music and a warm smile from the front of house staff. They were super friendly and were eager to explain the different choices. They seemed really nice and I got the feeling that these guys really care about what they do. Our food was ready quickly, and it was wonderful. I had the Sapprito with steamed rice (sadly they ran out of the sticky rice for the day, but the steamed rice was perfect). It had tri-tip and house-made Lao sausage with peppers, egg, mushrooms, and onions, all wrapped up in a really good burrito tortilla. The Lao sausage is delicious. It has tons of lemongrass flavor and was perfectly caramelized. You have the choice of a few different sauces to go with it depending on how hot you like it. I tried the honey sriracha sauce that they make in-house. It was sweet and a seemed slightly spicier than the rooster brand sriracha. My wife got the Lao sausage tacos, and they were equally delicious. The tortillas are fried in oil (big plusand so they are both crispy and pliable. She got the Thai sauce, which is tasty and a bit hotter than the sriracha. She asked if she could try the habanero sauce, which they obliged, and it was also very good, but a bit spicier than I usually go. It wasnt crazy hot, but a good burn. Parking isnt the best, but you can park out on Placer. We cant wait to come back and try the Pad Thai along with the rest of the menu.
MoreInteresting homemade food. The Saporitto was good but needs a little more flavor on its own. It comes with your choice of sauce on the side however I dont really consider hot sauces as a substitute for flavor. I took a Saporitto home to my wife to get a second opinion. She ate half and agreed with me independently. I will come back and try some of the other items on the menu. My wife and I absolutely love fried rice, so I am looking forward to getting a big box of it on my next visit. I will update my review at that time.
MoreThe vegan pad thai was a poorly mixed greasy mass of noodles with a handful of mushrooms, bell peppers, spring onions and bean sprouts. Two lime slices on the side were insufficient to cut the grease. It was like the bad Chinese version of Thai food. This was likely the worst meal Ive eaten in California and sometimes I have to settle for a salad and fries. Way over priced for what you get. Its fast casual, so everything is served in styrofoam.
MoreThe food is prepared fresh to order and the wait is usually 5 or 10 mins or less. They offer a stamp card for their Saparitto, similar to Dutch Bros. The dining area is small so take out is the best way to go. Definitely worth trying if you are looking for something new.
MoreGreat food! Something different and flavorful. Very friendly staff as well! Helped us with the options and gave us samples of the sauces to try before ordering. Even held the door open for us! Pleasant atmosphere. Will be back soon to try more.
MoreAwesome, the Saprito is insane! Dont expect to eat it all in one sitting. But flavors are excellent! Finally we get some proper Asian Fusion in this town!!! thanks bra das.
MoreWe had missed their exceptional food from the food truck and finally made it in to their new location. Same great service, and the food was even better than we remembered. Cant wait to go back!
MoreSuper affordable, quickly prepared and delicious. Rib eye cheesesteak, or meat sticks + sticky rice combo, or blackened shrimp tacos. Much more on the menu but those are a must try.
MoreI love the spicy sauces and the simple yet diverse menu. It has ten or less items but has something for just about everyone. Its a small place with some big shoes to fill and it fills them well. I highly recommend it
MoreI had the sappirito which was delicious. I cant wait to go back again.
