MTR - South Indian restaurant in Kolar, India
MTR in JP Nagar is running on its old reputation however they should do more on hygiene, customer service and crowd management. We were at MTR after long time. We had special Thali and had very good time. The service was excellent and we didnt have to wait for long. Advice - for best experience visit during weekdays
Spacious restaurant. We went there on a week day. We got the table easily. May be crowded on weekends. As it is MTR brand , food taste and quality are very good. Service was fast. Over all a good place to dine in.
Food tasted nice. The dosas especially, yummy! Although I don’t prefer the sweet Sambar, this Sambar was actually good and not that sweet. The dosa was oozing with ghee. We also got Poori Bhaji, which was nice but the dosa was amazing. We had Sambar vada as well and some filter coffee.
**Great Cry Little wool**Actually I just went because of ratings.I just had the below items1. Masala Dosa2. Poori3. Vada4. TeaIssues I found1. Lift is not working - Restaurant is on the 5th floor . So you have to go through stairs . They have only one lift and it is also not working. I saw old people coming down and they were not able to walk so easily . Restaurants should take care of such things.2. Tea - they are charging more for tea . But if you taste the tea , it will taste like tea having near any bus stand . As I am a tea lover , the taste of tea is below average.3. Masala Dosa - it is fine .4. Service - Service is fine , as it is a busy Restaurant you can expect delay.
MTR is one of the restaurant which I visit more often. And I had fantastic experience from my previous visits. But this time its not the same. The food was cold and the taste was average.I visited at the time of closing so may be thats one of the reason for my disappointment. And I will definitely visit again in the peak hours to experience the best MTR cuisines. And a special mention to the service they provide in almost all MTR branches. The manner i which they handle each customer is simply amazing.Looking forward to my next visit.
Tried the special meal for Rs 300. It consisted of the grape juice, masala dosa, poori Sagu, kosumbri, puliogre, bisi bele bath, holige, vada, rice, rasam, sambhar, curd rice and mixed fruits with ice cream 😅 I am not sure if I skipped some items as there were so many and most of them were unlimited. The taste was really good and I personally felt that it was a good value for money!
MTR JP Nagar has lost its taste. The food was just okay. Nothing great. Used to be, but not anymore. Car parking can be an issue on busy days. Decent ambience inside.
Theyre putting lot of Soda in the every item in the special Meals , charges 320 per person which is not all worth. You will feel your stomach is full after eating just few items , other items you dont feel like eating itself. The effect of full stomach will be there till next morning due to soda. Just a namesake brand, but not a hygienic food to eat.
Worst place dont go with family, simply wasting our money.Suppliers head is thinking they are giving food free. Raised complaint, he will just told he will speak. Really good quality is also not that much great simply name.
Bisibelebath was served with curd and not kara boondhi. Masala dosa is so small that it is same size of set dosa.Lift is small and slow that people including delivery people from swiggy use stairs to reach the restaurant in 5th floor. This low rating is mainly attributed to delivery guys who use stairs for 5 floors to collect food.
Best place to eat authentic south indian Karnataka meals , variety of foods with good taste.Systematic service is the top quality of this restaurant, friendly staff.Full meals cost about 320 per person , and you have to buy the ticket initially and seating will be shown.Only problem is that , its on the 5th floor and there is no good parking area .
Stopped by for breakfast. Sambhar tastes really bad. Dosa and chutney is fairly decent tho. Recommended for a quick breakfast. Does not live upto the hype tho and isnt worth the wait if theres a line outside. Also please dont commit hate crimes by ordering dosa via swiggy or Zomato. Would be better off ordering waffles at that point.
Have tried breakfast and lunch here. Very nice place for snacking. Unlimited lunch is available which includes poori, dosa, bisi bele bath, salad, sweet, rice, paan and ice cream fruit salad..Service is average though.. on weekends it gets too crowded..Parking is difficult on weekends..
great place for the best south Indian food. The sweet chandrahara is the best to try out and it is available only on Sundays. A must eat . the dosas, soft Idly is mout watering too. The gleam in the eyes of the people who look at their orders as it arrives to their table is so satisfying. A happy place to begin a relaxed Sunday.
Had the breakfast thaali here. The chutney was awesome, Pongal was tasty and raita was very delicious. Kesari bath was extra sweet. I wouldnt recommend having tea because it wasnt so good plus they dont add sugar to it so you have to add it to your liking. Nice ambience and it is in a very good location.
The name needs no introduction nor does it need a review. MTR is a brand by itself and has been so for the last 98 years. I have been visiting this place for almost 2 decades now and the taste, quality and service have remained exactly the same. Awesome!
Very good south indian veg lunch. Variety of Items. Come with an empty stomach. Enjoy with family. Neat and hygienic. The weekend is busy.
We had special meals started from welcome drink, masala Dosa, Poori, Puliyogare, bisi bele bath, sambar, rasam, curd rice with pickle, badam halwa, payasam. finally with ice cream with fruits and beeda. All unlimited and its very good for veg option unlimited with traditional food items instead of fast food or other cuisine.
I wish to give them 5 stars but they were only serving meal at lunch time. Though I had meal with family but I must say quality of food was awesome. The staffs were very well behaved. For kids it was half price meal. It was more than enough for us. Parking is a challenge,so look for places opposite to the park.
Loved the Masala dosa here, just oozing with ghee.. Also tried their rava idli and it was amaaaaazinggg. The set dosa tasted just fine...I went here on Sunday so i was even able to try their Chandradhara (which they serve only on Sunday). Although I didnt like the texture and taste of the chandradhara.. Thats why 4 star, otherwise I totally liked this place
We had Chandrahara which is their signature dessert only available on Sundays. Its rabdi on top of some paapdi. Then we had Rava dosa and Podi Dosa which were also tasty. The tea and coffee were also okayish but the cups in which they were served were very dirty and felt like street cups (chai ki thadi).Washroom is horrible and not at all properly maintained which was not expected from MTR.They are closed on Mondays and serve till 9:30pm on other days.Overall I expected more from MTR as even normal Udupi restaurants are better maintained and cleaned, so rating it 2/5
Taste. 0Cleanliness. 0Courtesy. -1Cost. Even if you pay for my meal, I will not eat there again.Presentation. 3Idly was sour. Vada was soft. Dosa was bland.
Very good food and service. Try Badam Halwa
The place is really good for South Indian dishes. There is a lot of gee and butter in all dishes.Must try the fruit salad with ice cream
Its actually 3.5/5Good place for breakfast and lunch.Ambience - 3/5Food 5/5Beverages 4/5 ( tea and coffee are overpriced)Hospitality- 3/5PS: Khara bath is a must try.
There is no more standard service left out in this hotel.. staffs are very rude.. you need to pay first and then eat .. also if you are 3 people together… you need to get billed for 3 compulsory..staff does not have any manners to convey this message.. he was very rude .. to us… the food was not hygiene at all…. over all experience at this restaurant was very bad… this place does not seems to be like before..
We were a family of 4, visited this restaurant to taste homely indian food. The taste was okay and could eat only one dosa and may be a portion of rice which only kids under 5 years can eat. Our stomach was full and couldnt eat anymore. We had terrible time after this and constantly fely un easiness in the stomach for next 2 days. Already being very expensive, the quality of the food is not worth your hard earned money. Last time I visited the same restaurant and it was healthy and best meal, for the same reason I visited this time and had a really bad stomach upset and unexpected experience. I have a word to resturant, please do maintain your brand name. Its really hard to popular a brand and you have earned it, do not loose it. Please do take care on these things and take actions if necessary.
Best place to have authentic and tasty south indian breakfast.
Glad to have found this place for South Indian food in the middle of Jayanagar JP Nagar. Good food.
Another outlet but same authentic taste. I have always been a huge fan of MTR and outlets like these are the reason behind it.Everything tastes great here. Its located on fifth floor and the only MTR outlet that I visited on a rooftop.Must visit. Highly recommended 👌
Very nice place. Food is ok. Felt Soda in food Stomach was filled as soon as I drank water. Do not eat more dosa 😬. But you can try here once in a while.
The finest vegetarian dining place in Bangalore. Authentic MTR/South Indian style food. Very tasty and quality food. Hotel interior is well ventilated, there is a standard distance between the tables and rows. Plates, tables are cleaned thoroughly. Wash room is neat and clean. Parking is bit challenging here. Quality and quantity of food rating is 5 out of 5.
Wonderful & authentic place. Rich South Indian food experience. Especially Karnataka Veg Cuisine! Staff is well trained and well behaved. Jain, and No Onion No Garlic food are also available. Everything theyve on the menu are really tasty. Do visit and experience the taste of some Karnataka foods!
The authentic Vegetarian and traditional Festive food is available. There are too many options. Unlimited Special food, which will comprises of Grape Juice, Masala Dosa, Poori, Special sweet (Obbattu on Saturday or Sunday), Payasam, Kosambari, Curry, Sagu, Chutney, Vegetable curry, Bisibele bath, Raitha, Vangibath, Rice, Tasty Sambar, Delicious Rasam, Curd rice, Pickle, Fruit salad ice cream, Pan. In addition Mini Meal, Mini Tiffin and also individual items also can be ordered.
Mtr is the OG eatery in bangalore. Its the must try in the city. The benne dosa, masal dosa and bisibelabath is their must Try. The dosa is pretty small and has the masal stuffing inside so it makes it pretty filling. They are accompanied by a mint chutney and a coconut chutney usually. Their mini tiffin has - a masala dosa, one idli and vada with bisibelabath, raita and kesaribath .
Best place for snacking in Bangalore. You can see people of all age groups there, starting from toddlers to seniors, gel around (without using their phones of course). No wonder why this place is loved by many. Not to forget the finest filter coffee experience I had..
It has an open dining place. Idli and samabar was tasty. Ordered Masala dosa which was very crispy and taste wise it was okay. Tea was not upto the mark. It tasted like kadak indian railways tea 😁. Coffee was good and I liked it. Overall it was good.
Each and every dish I tried was absolutely tasty. Must try atleast once. Though it is a bit costly but worth it.
Had good looks and good tasty food. The items are priced a bit more than average, but the quality and quantity is adequate. Do visit if you want to try south Indian style meals in bangalore. To try: Sount Indian mini meals, Masala Dosa, Onion rava dosa, and Badam milk(Cold).Badam milk(Coldwas good, but the coffee and tea arent that good.
A legendary must try place in Bengaluru! Few dishes just stand out here and no other place can do justice to these dishes. Masala dose is a must try with the ghee. Rava idli was literally born here! And their badam halwa is to die for. Their shavige bath/Uppittu which is only available in evenings is a must try too. Parking is definitely an issue but you can find a spot in a near by road. Toilet is available.
Best part of any festival is MTR special meal. Not only special meal, all the menu items are best served here. Taste is never compromised. From last 10 years I get same taste of Dose in MTR.
Overloaded with the food. Amazing experience. Went there for lunch and in ₹290 received tasty unlimited meal high quality food. Its a must have if you have come to visit Bangalore. It is present at the 5th floor, and elevator is present, which is crowded during rush hours. Theres also a peaceful park right in front of the restaurant where you can take a walk after being full from eating. Also, would highly recommend buying sweets by all famous MTR which you can buy at the restaurant outlet or any other outlet in the city.
On a hungry Saturday,When you think off brunch, then MTR flashes😅Meals is good and worth the price one pays for. 😉Service, I felt was bit slow when compared to previous visits.Puliyogare and bisibelebath are my favorites here. 👍🏽
Very sorry to see our favorite MTR quality and services gone down seriously.Found curd packet corner piece in the curd rice...! The managers response was just "we will inform the cook"..! What if someone swallowed this plastic pouch piece..?First, surprised to know MTR is using curd packet to make curd rice. Thought they might make their own good quality curd themselves.Second the quality and hygiene is a shocker. Food quality and taste overall needs serious attention.Hope concerned people pay attention to these matters and work to improve the quality soon.
New mgmt. Forest keys. Not good. Dosa best as always. Super. But rude service and stale Pongal.Known, well behaved waiters and good mgrs replaced by new , careless boys, led by a rowdy n rude mgr , from some highway dhaba . Unbelievable,Sad .
MTR is never a let down. Ohhh We got fed up because of the wait on the Sunday… but what could we expect more.. Everyone needs that good food to enjoy a weekend..Waiters struggle to satisfy customers, there was a couple who could mot get the service in time because the waiter missed the table, and that was bad.Anyways we had a good time as always.. Food was good, ghee roast, khara bath, vada (crispy), coffeeeee… The taste never change from time to time.
Food:Masala dosa - What fascinates me about MTR is the batter consistency of their dosas. The wow factor in their dosa is the distinct flavour which every dosa has. When it comes to masala dosa it is their crispy outer with the fluffy nucleus. The mild-spiced potato masala was very fillingGhee pudi dosa - A generous amount of ghee poured all over the dosa and a heavy rain of the spicy powder on top of it was like icing on dosa; super spicy, soft and with the chutney it was WHATTAWOWNeer dosa - Interesting dish made out of rice flour; flimsy and soft, had unique taste owing to the key rice ingredients; was served with sweet pooranam for the side. Initially was sceptical about the combination but a bite of the dosa with the sweet filling, it was ecstacyPoori - Blown up poori with mild oil content; came with potato chilli and is definitely worth trying onceKharabath - This is like a flavoured upma; had red spices with nuts all around, buttery and filling on the wholeButton Idli - Mini idlies dunked in sambar gravy; soak the idlies so that the flavours get better along every bite; not too spicy but had great lentil and masala tasteBadam Halwa - Oh wow, desserts just got better; the ultra rich and smooth halwa with kesar was JOY; so sweet with overflowing consistency of the gheeFilter coffee - Perfect end to any south-indian meal; rich in chicory, strong decoction leading to the best filter coffee out hereAmbience/Price:This place has great seating capacity since there was never a moment when we had to wait for our seats. The whole setup is well lit with good space all around. The service too was lightning quick with very less waiting time between sessions. One of the best pocket friendly veg places in BLR with so much to offer to people like us. Off-street parking would please many.
They use pure ghee in their food, no doubt. The puris are quite fluffy and they dont absorb too much oil. Kesari bath is amazing. Masala dosa felt a bit too overhyped. Granted, it is quite delicious, but not quite the best in the city in my opinion. Deducted 1 star for the price. Their prices could be a fair bit cheaper.
Best place to eat Masala Dosa. This is really special because unlike other Masala dosa we get it has green chutney inside. Coffee was also great.YOU need to try it atleast once.
Great food, but this time failed to meet our expectations. Masala dosa and coffee was flop. Kesri bath, Puri, Rava idli was amazing. As usual crowded have to wait in the lobby for the turn.Service also bit slow.
