MOD Public Bar - Bar in Taipei, Taiwan
Casual bar with good drinks and more than just typical bar food. Im a fan of their 皮蛋臭豆腐 -- perfect with a bowl of rice or the lettuce cups that it comes with. Main drawback is that smoking is allowed after 9pm.Update 0ct. 4: Went back recently for my usual American lemonade and was disappointed by how watered down the drink was. There was barely any wine. I hope things improve or I will no longer be able to recommend this bar.
Really great selection of whiskey and nice atmosphere.
Nice whiskey selection. A lot of regular
Could’ve been a nice place but ruined the entire night with their poor service. They told me there was Guinness on draft but served me bottled Guinness for 250NT without telling me. Then they said they don’t have Guinness of tap. Then proceed to serve me a tiny glass of whatever else is on tap. Unbelievable.
Needs a face-lift.
不友善。煙霧彌漫 價格太高 This bar was very smoky unfriendly and dated...If you were the bartenders friends or pretty girls then you would let you to sit at the bar counter... Otherwise they probably pushed to the corner...Service was not professional and rather unfriendly... They didnt even serve you when they were busy chatting with the girls... I think they were not keen about their business... Only their own playground...
This bar is full of disrespect. If you’re local, you will be treated well. If you’re a foreigner, treat you worse than a slave. Maybe older foreigners might love because of their patience. If you’re a real human being with a respect, .. it’s your choice. Unfortunately I Can’t rate this bar with -1 star.
My first bar back to 20 years...tavern style with rock music...bartern is very professional, cant miss it!
Not recommend the place. The take out service is ridiculous and pathetic. What goes around comes around, hope the covid storm teach you a lesson.
The place is nice, very dark but most bars are. Alcohol is pretty good, the cocktails were made quite fast, but the minimum charge is 500NT, so you have to order at least 2 drinks which is not very convenient. Not too loud, even though the place was almost full we could still chat with no problem hearing each other.
The bar looks fancy from the outside, but it is very outdates on the inside. You can eat here, but you can smoke in the whole area, so if you are a non smoker thats pretty bad. The drinks were not bad, but nothing special, definitely can find better bars for the same price in Taipei...
Classical bar. Great whiskey selection.
Nice bar!
Cant pour a drink. actually had to change because they didnt know what to do..terrible service. Changed a lot for the bar I used to know.
Best bar in town. Cigar friendly!
Admittedly it was Sunday night, but looking into the window from the outside there were only two people there… Perhaps I missed the point but this is not what I expected.
Good drinks but service too slow
It’s ok. A little bit too pretentious for an average cocktail bar. Bartenders pretty boring, and like to focus on their visiting friends. Ordered a few different cocktails and all were just average.
Excellent and customised cocktails with decent and relaxing atmosphere
Smoke everywhere, seats very uncomfortable and overpriced. If youre looking for a place to chill and have a conversation without getting choked this aint it.
Good service, wide collection, good recommendations from staff.
Great selection of Scotch. Very tasty food menu. Super friendly bartenders. You’ll find yourself ordering one drink after another!
Awesome whisky and foods in Taipei city.
A quiet little bar nestled on the back streets with a good selection of whiskeys.
Great selection of drinks and their food is also surprisingly good. They are known for their stinky tofu dish i think it is a must try.
One of my favorite bars in Taipei. Visited several times and still like this place. Drinks, food, music and the vibe, all good!!!
Nice bar
Good cocktail, whiskey selections in Taipei. And personal recommend is oyster, its really fresh and gorgeous.I think its top 3 in this city at nights.
Classy little place with limited seating. Smokey from cigar smoke because they allow smoking indoors. The wide scotch menu and cool round ice cubes are a good reason to come but we spent over two hours here and had trouble spending more than the minimum payment of $500 per person because the service was too slow. Left stinking of cigars and pretty unhappy with this place.
Hope you can find this place. If you do manage to see the small sign and open the right door...you will be treated to a great bar with hand sculpted ice cubes (ballsand very friendly staff. Enjoy.
Not the easiest to find by intention but a gem for sure. Dim lighting provides a cool and intimate vibe. Also has a really good variety of whiskey behind the bar.
One of the first bars I was introduced to when I moved to Tpe. Still love this place! I come here mostly for the ambiance. Classic whiskey bar, cozy, and unpretentious. Can get pretty smokey after 9pm ish. Drinks are good but not the best place for ordering off the menu. I always get the oyster shots, it’s kinda pricy (ard 500+ntbut fun to try 😍😍
Went here right around opening time and left before any crowds arrived. The ambiance at MOD was dim, cozy, and friendly. They offer a good selection of spirits and cocktails (cannot speak much of the latter, as we did not have many), and the food here is of very high quality.
Great Whiskey selection, as well as good knowledge on different types of cocktails.
Allows ppl to smoke inside. 調酒 quality just not there
Lots of whisky choices but waited over an hour for our (simpledrink order to arrive (Monday night). We gave up in the end and walked out. Very smokey inside.
Cool, friendly bar.The bartenders were kind and humorous. They can speak English and there was almost no problem in light communication. The flavor of cocktails was a bit stronger than that in Korea, but it was still good for me.
Great variety of whisky
Food and drink are not bad. Atmosphere is MEH. What stands out is the atrocious service. This was my second time here. Waiters are inattentive takes 20 mins to get a drink. No one seems to care either. Having been a bar owner and a bartender I can see there is potential, however no one cares. Pity. I wont be back a third time.
Great location in a shopping area. Very friendly service. Used FunNow app for a cocktail+special dishes deal and had a great experience!
Good selection of whiskeys. But staff was a little nonchalant and profit orientated.
Good scotch bar in Taipei. Cozy greetings from bar tenders. Very busy from Thursday till Saturday. Good place to meet people
Really good variety of whiskey and cocktails, however some people smoke here
Good ambience and deco, but more than a bar than a whisky bar.Very attentive staff, friendly, attend to details, quite a choice of whisky. Nice place.
On a Sunday night anyway not too busy. Great whiskey and scotch selection.
One of my favorite bars in Taipei. Its a small place in a small alley without an obvious sign. I usually have the 2nd generation of long island iced tea. They put whisky in there and its awesome. Whisky sour is also good. However this is a place where people smoke indoor. Be prepared for it!
A weird combination of divey booths in the back and proper cocktail bar in the front.
Tucked down an alley with no markings or lights (other then the non-descript circular sign), the place is really hidden from passerbyers. Their drinks though expensive (average 300NTare stiff and extremely well made. I highly recommend their old fashioned, mojito, and/or their extra strength long island. On the other hand if you can afford it, their snacks also pretty good (250NT+).Only problem, and its a big problem, is they allow smoking indoors. If not for the indoor smoking this would be my go to bar.
Great selection of whiskey. The staff, however, were arrogant and pretentious. Unless youre the coolest of the cool and have never grown past a high school popularity mentality, I wouldnt recommend this place. Ive been to some great whisky bars in Taiwan, and I wouldnt count this among them.
The Best Bar in Taiwan.Must try " Second Generation" cocktail.
