Amazing food. All dishes were very delicious, and beautiful. Great cocktails and choice of Mezcal. Perfect staff and service. Fabulous lunch experience.

We weren’t super impressed with this place as it was really quite expensive.The food was ok but it was made worse by us both having multiple caterpillars on our meals…

clearly the fanciest and highest end restaurant in puerto. excellent presentation, excellent taste. tuna smoked presented under glass was especially good looking and tasty.

This place is very nice and the food is good. A little bit pricey but the portions are filling and the staff is very attentive.

This is one of the best restaurants I have been to, even compared to the ones in Los Angeles, where Im from.Its my fourth time here. Besides the food, the service is excellent too.

Really nice fancy Mexican food. It’s on the expensive side if you’re a backpacker, but great for a sunset date night. Delicious coconut battered shrimp and the fish of the day is exquisite

Very expensive menu, quite posh place. It was completely empty every time we tried to go. We wanted to try the food but we didn’t want to be the only people there with 5 members of staff watching us eat. The terrace is nice and in the evening there is live music.

We were wonderfully surprised. They make their own original and excellent cocktails. Their food is yummy and does a good job at fusing western and Mexican cuisine. They are also located in the trendy area of Puerto Escondido and just opposite the best beach in town. On a more personal note, there is a lot of attention to details and service. It feels more personal and only has about a dozen tables max so you don’t feel lost in a crowd. They could add a little ambient music however music is so personal that it would be difficult to please everyone. Last but not least there is a gallery on the ground floor and a spa like facility too. So my suggestion is to go for it and leave your phone off…

Plating is nice but food is underwhelming and service is slooooow (went during lunch and was one of two tables, and it took 1h45 min!)

Excellent atmosphereService could be improved as our server never came back to check on us and ask if we needed anything else, even if we were only doing drinks at the bar facing the street with no food.

Price is too high for its food, I was expecting a Steak Ribey and not tacos, a hamburger with big buns but very little meat.

Some of the best vegan food I’ve had anywhere, ever. Unbelievable! We had an amazing waiter named Javi, but everyone we interacted with was wonderful. We cant wait to come back

Not what I would call a nice dining experience. I think they are trying to adhere to some kind of concept, but have failed. The kitchen is slow, granted it was a busy evening. I love fresh octopus : I’m in the seafood business; I’ve ordered octopus on 5 continents. On this night, my son and I returned both of our octopus mains because neither of us could digest this delicacy. Far too much high heat went into its preparation, and I could have bounced the pulpo off the floor. Our waiter returned to our table after presenting our serving to the chef and stated that the preparation was within its normal guidelines! At a well-respected establishment I would have expected, at the least, a visit from the sous-chef! Skip this spot.

I give only 5 stars just because I cannot give more!!!These guys are amazing! The restaurant is a beautiful spot in puerto Escondido, this is a luxury restaurant in all aspects (food ingredients, recipes, presentation of dishes, waiters/waitresses delicates and complete attentions to clients, elegance of the location, small details, the atmosphere, cocktails 🤩 WOW! Etc etc)Here really everything is just WOW!But….prices are super cheap! Maybe too cheap!!!If you don’t come here to eat, at least come here to drink their unbelievable cocktails with local fruits and flavors!We spent in Puerto Escondido only 4 nights. And we came here 3 evenings out of 4 dinners!!The 4th time that we did not come, we did extremely regret it…we would have come here 4/4 evenings, if we could go back in time!Guys believe me this place is a paradise for all your 5 senses ❤️ can’t wait to be back ❤️ONE OF THE BEST EXPERIENCES EVER

Went here for Christmas dinner. It was a set menu and it was great and really special! Also really nice place with a rooftop and friendly staff. Highly recommend. thank you!

This place is a hidden treasure! Everything we ordered was presented in a Michelin fashion and the taste was superb. Yesterday we went to a very pretentious, reservations only restaurant down the street which claimed Michelin level… not close at three times the cost.

This place was awesome! From the friendly service to the super delicious healthy fare. I also loved the salsas, which were not overly spicy and full of flavor. I’d go back!! Some good vegan options as well. I got the setan tacos.

Food was excellent and tasteful, the ambient is really nice. A lost star, as they were understaffed. The nice server, unfortunately, often forgot our drinks orders, which was most likely do to her serving all the tables and being overwhelmed.

Make sure you get the tuna tostadas. Came to eat here multiple times.

This is the best restaurant in the city and I think one of the most expensive but worth it. You have to climb some stairs which is not overly accessible but the view at the top is really nice. Food is amazing. Must try their ceviche!

Pretentious and overpriced. They were very slow and the civiche taste like syrup. They didnt let the fish stand out at all, it was honestly gross. The complementary tostadas and salsa was better.I got the new York steak with yello mole. Girl got the pesto pasta.Both were passable. But overpriced. Not worth it in my unprofessional opinion.

Our second visit to Metxcalli in 2021 yielded an excellent dinner from beginning to end. The space is lovely. The staff is clearly well trained. Hospitality, service and timing were just right. The food is creative, ingredients carefully chosen and beautifully presented without being fussy. There is attention to detail throughout the service. This time we had the grilled octupus dish with rosemary potatoes, salad and guacomole and bass with pumpkin flower leaves and mixed vegetables atop a delicious thick vegetable sauce, plus a shared dessert of chocolate mousse. All excellent, as was the mixed drink we ordered. Cost for two with two entrees, a shared dessert, one mixed drink and two lemonades was $1000 MX plus tip.

I had the sopa Azteca and the catch of the day. Both were delicious and the service was top notch. All the food coming out looked so food - will definitely go back. The owner was super friendly and came out to ask us how everything was. 5 stars 👌

WOW. If we could’ve stayed longer, we would have.Stopped here to eat before catching a flight and boy did we regret not being able to stay longer. The food was absolutely delicious!We had the smoked fish tostada (amazing!and the lechon tacos. We also had the hoja sanfa soup. Everything was amazing.Staff was also very friendly

Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable, and the drinks were very unique. I ordered the rib eye and feel like I probably shouldve ordered fish (it was fattybut the mole and setas made up for it. Our check came very slow but overall we had an enjoyable evening.

Fantastic food and atmosphere on the open air terrace. The attention to detail, presentation of the food and great flavors made this a very memorable meal. Service was great and they have several vegetarian/vegan options. Highly recommend!

Went here on our last night of our trip and we’re blown away by how much we enjoyed it. The servers were so nice and had great recommendations. Great variety of food, and everything was delicious (including the vegan options!). Hip music and ambiance. Loved it.

Best food in Puerto!! Such detail in everything including the service. Such a cool experience for our palette and eyes! Augustin was amazing. The chef came out and had a wonderful conversation with us. Everything was perfect! Make sure to get the octupus!!!

1st floor food is amazing, and thats the only reason why we decided to have dinner at the terrace, but food was not good at all...sweet ceviche?! Come on! Its like making ice cream out of SALTService is great.

Delicious food and perfect service in a lovely setting in Puerto Escondido. Great for date night! Value for money for the dishes was really great, and service very prompt and kind without being overbearing. Decided to go for this over some other restaurants with more reviews and absolutely thrilled we did. Totally recommend ☺️

Metxcalli is an amazing place and one of my favorite restaurants in Oaxaca.The food is impecabble, weve tried a lot of dishes from the menu and always were completely satisfied with the quality of our dinner.Service and decoration of the restaurant are also fantastic. I can easily recommend it to anyone who is visiting Puerto Escondido!

Restaurant had nice ambience and good wait staff. The food looks much better than it tastes. It’s like they looked at pictures of high end restaurant food, but never figured out how to achieve the flavour. For medium sized meals for 3 adults it cost us 50 US $, or 1300 pesos.

It’s a reasonably priced restaurant with good food. The service is good, lighting inside is blue which I find slightly disturbing (makes people and good look blue). The food is good, service is excellent. I didn’t like the craft beer so much. The desert was fantastic, probably the best in this region. Overall, I think it’s a solid choice for lunch and dinner.

I would say METXCALLI is one of the best restaurants or the best restaurant in Puerto Escondido.This is not just a restaurant, the concept is an art gallery + cantina + restaurant which make it unique.The food amazing we try different dishes and we couldn’t stop trying different ones.The staff is very friendly and for the ones visiting the restaurant from February 2020 I was told they are going to open their “terraza” with a small spot where you can have you drinks and enjoy the sunset.Price, quality of food, location and staff are simply excellent.
