Good place

First visited when the Outaq was being constructed. this was 1978-79 (I think). And saw Black Buck for the first time. And many other animals. Now after 44 years (2022it still amazes as it did then. This is the last refuge for Black Buck. A visit is most recommended.

Mehrano Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Khairpur District of Pakistan province of Sindh an enhanced riverine forest privately preserved by the Talpur Mir royal family of Khairpur Princely state with endorsement by the Sindh wildlife department. It comprises agricultural land, forest, and hunting area and is home to various flora and fauna.[

Beautiful and Pure natural habitat 😍💙

I had the privilege to photograph these beautiful Black Bucks recently. This is the same species of Blackbuck that Bollywood actor Salman Khan was convicted of shooting and was sentenced to jail for 5 years. According to my Google search, in 1947 there were around 80,000 blackbucks in the subcontinent. In less than 20 years, it had fallen to 8,000 by 1964. The Blackbuck population is diminishing fast mainly due to hunting and poaching. In our country, they are being protected in captivity at Lal Sundra National Park near Bahawalpur and by the Talpurs at their Mehrano Wildlife Sanctuary.
