Plaza de Sta. Ana, 14, 28012 Madrid, Spain, Carabanchel
Set in an elegant 1923 building with modern interiors, this luxe hotel is a 4-minute walk from Puerta del Sol metro station and a 15-minute walk from the Royal Palace of Madrid.Chic rooms have free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, along with iPod docks and hydromassage showers. Upgraded rooms add balconies and Nespresso machines. Suites have sitting or living areas, games consoles and/or whirlpool tubs, plus personalized services such as pre-dinner cocktails. Room service is available. There's a trendy rooftop bar and a refined restaurant offering traditional and modern-style tapas. Other amenities include spa treatments and parking (fee).
The hotel itself is nice and it’s in a great location. Tons of restaurants, bars, theaters nearby and all the important museums are about a 10 minute walk away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were greeted with a glass of cava upon our arrival. My wife and I booked the Energy Room which is small (which I already knewbut comfortable. My only disappointment was that our balcony was facing Plaza del Ángel and not Plaza de Santa Ana as was shown on the hotel website. I booked the room because the hotel website indicated that these rooms faced Plaza de Santa Ana which was not the case with us. There was no indication that these rooms could face either plaza. If I had known this I would’ve called or looked elsewhere. Will also mention that the rooftop bar is not worth visiting. The service is terrible, the view was better from our balcony, and it’s overpriced.
Perfect location, perfect service, not that expensive,
Great location , 5 minutes from puerta de sol walking , can’t beat it if you want to be in the center of all.Reception staff very pleasant and my room was ready at 1100 which was a blessing. My room (A plaza Santa Ana view roomwas quite spacious with a comfortable bed, even if a little outdated. I had to struggle with the entrance card every time to get inthe room.Hallways are a bit of a maze. There is a little but highly equipped gym that you have too pay14 euros to get in (this is not the metropolitan gym which is right next door, this is a different one belonging to the hotel in the basement),you also need to reserve a place, not sure if because of the small size or still under covid regulations.I did not try breakfast but did go up to the rooftop bar one afternoon and to be honest it was expansive, food and drinks mediocre and just full of noisy tourists so I wouldn’t recommend it. All in all a pleasant hotel if you could get a good deal
Too expensive for that they offer. Room to small. But location was superb.
Excellent hotel, right on the Plaza de Santa Ana. Close to transport, shops and restaurants. Very lively square below the hotel.
During the day, the location could not be better. I think the only thing missing here is a pool on the roof or lower level. The reason I will not go back is due to the large groups of people that gather in the plaza from 4am - 7am (or until the police arriceafter the clubs close. They will scream and shout, play music, start singing, smash bottles etc. I was on the 5th floor so this would be much worse on a lower floor. If you are a light sleeper, book in an area that is more residential.
The hotel it is in a nice place close to everything. Be ready to spend 40 min to check in and check out . An incredible lengthy priceless and long queue. Honestly for this price , unacceptable
I stayed here for two nights in my first time travel to madrid , and it is HIGHLY recommended, the biggest plus point is it’s location , very centric to everything you could possibly ask forThe room itself, staff service , all the hospitality is just amazing - couldn’t ask for anything more , they are super convenient and always try to work towards your needs and requestsThe rooftop bar and the restaurant is just cherry on the cake - great experience and you do not really have to go anywhere, will visit again for sure
Fabulous property, Great Staff and location. BUT stayed in a regular room and the beds are so close to the bathroom access that I bruised my leg and my husband still has a cut on his leg! The layout is not good at all in this standard rooms.
Absolutely wonderful place to stay. The service was really fast and kind, although the people at the front desk spoke limited English. The room was well equipped with loads of amenities like speaker systems in the walls of the shower. Beautiful building and place to stay.
Probably one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had…and I travel for a living! The Staff and Service 5/5I felt almost guilty being treated so wellThe Hotel Room 5/5Damn, I even looked for the label of the mattress because it was so comfyThe Rooftop Bar 5/5Those cocktails?! Wow! We had a bunch of different drinks and all of them were made with fine ingredients! But the way they serve Tequila was my favorite part!Location 5/5Almost every big attraction can be reached by foot or scooter! As my friend the T-800 used to say: I’ll be back!
Stayed solo here on a business trip for a couple of nights. The room itself was comfortable enough eith all the necessities you need at a 4* standard. All in all, quite good. The staff and the location are the bits elements of this hotel, staff go above and beyond, super pleasant, professional, polite and positively memorable. The location is fab to get around the city. I would recommend this hotel.
Centrally located hotelAre there two room types in the hotelOne is very invested and the other lessThere is not even a corner for distinguishing hot drinks (tea, coffee)
This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. They gave us an upgrade to a beautiful suite when we checked in. The next morning I tested positive for covid, and from that moment on the hotel has gone above and beyond to take care of us. Marina has called to check on me each day, and has sent fresh fruit and water. The chef also prepared a chicken soup especially for me that isn’t even on the menu. They let us extend our stay in the suite for a discounted price. Anything we have asked for, they have provided with such kindess and grace. I’ve never had such a wonderful experience with any hotel before. The staff really cares! I’m so impressed and thankful. Despite the fact thay I’ve been sick, they’ve really made these days so much better. I can’t thank y’all enough! We will always stay here when we come to Madrid, and we will recommend it to our friends and family. They are also super pet friendly and have been really sweet to our pup. Muchísimas Gracias!!
Excellent location -- close to all the attractions! The service is excellent. The WiFi is great and they have great meeting rooms too. The rooms are clean and well-stocked including a safe and iron box and board. The only infuriating thing is that the socket is by the bed and only on one side, which can make charging a tad annoying especially in the night. The breakfast is one of the healthiest and the best - not to be missed!!! 8 will be back for sure!
Very quality hotel in Madrid with such a good price and good location. Highly recommended
Since I had stayed at the Innside Melia in Gran Via before, and had good experiences…I thought why not treat ourselves to the more chic ME Reina Victoria, since I am Melia Gold and do enjoy staying at their hotels. Sadly the mismanagement of the hotel left a lot to be desired. We were staying 2 nights at one of the balcony rooms. We arrived at the hotel at around 5 pm. They greeted us with a glass of cava which was lovely, but then the person checking us in took quite a while, looking confused and going back and forth with his colleagues. Before checking with us to explain the situation or tell us what was happening, the person did the credit card block/charge and when handing us the keys he said “we are so full so one night will be on a room in floor 6, but tomorrow you have to change room to somewhere in floor 5”. We understand these things happen and although an inconvenience, we went along with it. We arrived at the room and it had not been cleaned (see first two photos). We called downstairs and they sent the housekeeper. So we left to go walk around while they cleaned (keep in mind this is past 5 pm and a very hot day). We came back at around 645 pm…as we entered the hotel the people at the desk said the room was ready. We went up only to find the housekeeper still in there. We were very irritated by this so went down and had a talk with a manager or someone of higher rank. She apologized and gave us two passes for drinks at the rooftop (which btw I’ve always gotten at other Melia hotels anyway, so not sure this was a “plus” or anything). We asked her if we could use them the next day, and she said of course. The next day I ask the rooftop hours only to be told that the rooftop was closed that day/night for a private event. We once again had a talk with management and at our request (they didn’t offer it to uswe asked if as compensation we could have breakfast free the next morning before leaving. They agreed after some talks. As Melia gold I also get late checkout if available, so also set up a late check out at 2 pm. Again that was part of my status so not really a compensation. The day we had to change rooms there was also miscommunication. We left at around 10 am and did our own thing in the city, but it’s annoying that we had to pay for two nights but had to leave in between for hours before they changed the room. Before leaving to I was asked if I wanted a call when the new room was ready to which I agreed. They wrote down my # but of course no one ever called. After waiting for the call we decided to just return, at around 3 pm and the change was ready. Why they didn’t call I have no idea.Overall the management is terrible here. I am not sure how the booking system works but if I book a room type months in advance, it makes no sense that they make you change rooms between your stay. The room with balcony is nice but sadly don’t think I’ll be staying at this Melia again.
Highly recommended.Stayed here in June.Location: excellent - within walking distance to high speed train station, main sites, museums, shopping…Rooms: spacious, clean, well kept, and stocked.Service: professional, friendly, courteous, and helpful.Rooftop: excellent; great views.I will certainly stay here again.
We ate a delicious breakfast here while we waited for our guide for the viaferrata. The service was pretty good snd the food was plentiful .
Excellent location, we walk to the museums, restaurants and shops, specially to la Gran Vía.The room is very nice and with a view to the Plaza Santa Ana.And the service is excellent!
It’s fine. Check in is very slow and they can’t handle Amex properly so you end up with multiple invoices - annoying for expense claims. Security could be improved - anyone can operate the lifts and open the fire exits to access floors. Gym is an extra charge, it’s good but doesn’t justify the expense. Rooftop isn’t open Mon or Tues and is expensive (€36 for two gin and tonics). Some of the rooms are small. Staff are very good. Breakfast is good. Great location
I stayed in the hotel for 3 nights in March 2022. The hotels location is very convenient and definitely a big plus point. The rooms though not very large are quite well kept and comfy. I would have loved to see more charging ports near the bed though. The service quality was very good and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant is quite good too
I was excited by the concept of this hotel although was not overly impressed after staying here. Room looked into a small, dark interior courtyard so had no natural light and AC unit was noisy. The shower was very good though. Take care that fitness centre is not included in cost of the room and I was surprised with the 14 euro charge on check out as it was not communicated to me in advance.
I recently had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful hotel where I had a most wonderful bedroom with a view overlooking Plaza de Santa Ana. On my arrival I met the lovely Irati Perez who made me feel so welcome and when she realised that I would be celebrating my birthday the following day, made my stay even more special. Thank you Irati! This hotel and the staff exceeded my expectations by far. Outstanding in all areas and I will definitely be returning. Thank you!
Really nice rooms (after AURA rooms, too littlewith super nice design but not good sound isolated from the streets. Fitness not included (weirdand drinks on roof top too expensive being not premium.
Great hotel in a superb location . All staff are very friendly and helpful, special shout out to Elena who could not have done more to make our weekend extra special !
Excellent place to stay in Madrid, near a large number of restaurants and centric area. Walk Madrid from there, Plaza del sol, corte inglés, etc. The plaza where the restaurant is has several restaurants as well, not a super busy area and somewhat quiet. The hotel staff is helpful and the rooms are always clean and have a modern feel. Highly recommended.
The rooftop bar view is beautiful! But the cosmopolitain cocktail at 14€ that doesnt taste like it is supposed to, less nice.
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights only and overall experience has been positive. However there are some significant improvement opportunities.First off, the location was great, very close to Puerta del Sol which meant that we had all the necessary services & attractions within walking distance. Secondly, the bathroom was perhaps the best one ever I’ve seen in any hotel (and I’ve been to many hotels). The decor was nice and clean and the staff members we interacted with were all very friendly and nice.On the other hand there are some important improvement opportunities worth keeping in mind. For this kind of hotel in this price range, it is not acceptable that one has to wait over 10 minutes in line to check in and then another 6-7 minutes to check in. The process was just too long, tedious and primitive, I haven’t experienced such a bad check-in in many many years.Secondly, the internet connection is a joke. Again, such a hotel cannot afford to have an internet speed of barely 10Mbps (see screenshot).Another issue we encountered was with the card/key. We really struggled on multiple occasions to get into the room and had to ask the cleaners to let us in. The girl at the reception said that it was because the cards were new!? (imagine if they were old 😅🤔).Lastly, there are only three elevators with a capacity of 2 people each which is clearly not enough during peak times. There are no signs that indicate where the stairs are either.Overall, a positive experience and we would certainly give it another go, however the hotel should really look to keep up with times and update some of its services (check-in, TV, internet connection, room decor, elevators).
Very nice, clean and modern hotel with a perfect central location! Also a plus is the amazing rooftop bar with a view over Madrid! The staff is kindly and helpful.
Very nice hotel. The room was very modern. We liked our room at the 4th floor a lot. The staff is very friendly. We would go there definetely again.
My bad experience starts at check-in, when I was assigned a lower level room than the one displayed by the app. After a long fight and a phone call from Melias supervisor, they moved us several times until we reached a room without structural defects that prevent us from staying.Of the rooms seen, none were decent. In general, rooms are very small, old, shabby and not clean at all (moquette always dirty with various tears). It isn’t even a quiet hotel, you will hear music until night, the insonomization is bad and there are drunk people wandering the corridors and knocking on doors (probably external guest coming from the rooftop - the card reader in the elevator to prevent external guests from going to the floor is obviously broken). The only positive thing, adequate amenities (they are the same for all ME).The service is the most negative note. The staff is nice, but totally unprepared. To give some examples: menus with outdated prices, requests processed after 3/4 reminder, cleaning ladies who enter the room even with do not disturb tag…Not better is the rooftop, which offers a beautiful view but is run by the same idiots who are supposed to arrange room service (and they definitely cant). Out of two orders, they got two wrong.Last negative note, the breakfast. The buffet (€ 25 per personis something ridiculous; there are no words to describe the misery you will find at breakfast. Without a doubt the worst of my life. This year I spent over 70 nights in the hotels of the Melia group, and this is undoubtedly the worst I have ever experienced. There is not even a positive side, everything needs to be redone: from the structure, to the cleanliness, to the service. It is evident that it is a hotel with an absent or incapable manager (probably both). If you are in Madrid - and you want to stay in Melia - I recommend Melia Serrano or Inside Gran Via (certainly not luxury facilities, but of a good standard and well cared for).
We enjoyed our stay here, with literally nothing negative to say. They let us check in early after an overnight flight from NY & the staff was friendly throughout our whole stay. Rooftop is beautiful & hotel guests get priority. We got the room with a balcony, which I would suggest- as the standard rooms would probably be a lot more dark without the light from the balcony. Great location, we walked, took Ubers, used the metro- all of it. The restaurant downstairs is gorgeous & they made the best espresso martini I’ve ever had. We had a great time
Room so small you can’t move, halls so dark you can’t see, stay anywhere else. Keys to room rarely work. Located in a sea of hostels, which are likely nicer than this place.
We had an excellent stay at this hotel and we loved Madrid. All the team was helpful and very pleasant. The property is very well located, you won’t be disappointed.
This quintessential Spanish deco hotel surpassed my expectations. Rooms were a bit small when choosing the lower rate, but still a great deal. Impeccable service, and they even Brought a bottle of cava to the room for my brothers birthday! You cant beat this location close to every tourist attraction and the best restaurants. Great access to gym and spa next door. 5 stars!
Nice hotel in the historic part of Madrid convenient for most tourists spots. The hotel is of a high standard with friendly and helpful staff. Food and drink is sensibly priced and of a good quality. Our room was quite small and noisy. For such a high quality hotel we would have expected better. Overall satisfied with our stay.
The staff was warm and professional, we were greeted with a glass of cabs which was very nice, we have stayed here several time but this is our last, the room was very tiny with no view, we upgraded to a. Much nicer room, with a great view and great sound acoustics from the bathroom next door which you can imagine was disgusting, the walls are very thin and the hotel need a makeover, carpets in the hallways are stained, etcThis tops the cake, we are here as I write this, it is Christmas Eve, we could not get reservation for dinner at the hotel restaurant, ok I get that but when we tried to get a drink at the bar , we were told NO under no circumstances could we get a drink, we each pleaded our case, how can you deny a hotel guest, I even went back and told them we would drink it in the lobby NO, it would not be a big deal if there were other places to go but everything was closed except to two tapas bars outside which we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated outside, inside would have taken longer, HOW DO DENY A PAYING GuEST ACCES TO THE BAR CHRISTMAS EVE or any other time, needless to say our Christmas Eve left a lot to be desired 😡🤬🥵
Really nice welcoming, was offered free glass of champagne when I arrived. Staff were really nice and helpful, room is clean and rooftop was super nice. Is about a 10-15min walk from train station which for me is long because I am lazy. About 10 min walk from the main square, near lots of nice restaurants. I highly recommend the hotel and would come back to stay here.
Excellent location and staff. Rooms are spacious enough with all amenities. Breakfast is pretty good and lots of healthy options. Gym is not there and they offer 12 euro pass to adjoining gym which is not okay, pretty crowded and old.Windows are not sound proof which makes road side rooms as worst choice (even when they are said as upgrade). Madrid is alive at night and that noise is a pain for people with sensitive sleep. I hope they make their windows sound proof, a sort of basic need for hotel at that place.
Amazing, creative perfectly balanced drinks. Only a corner of this place is opened to the public and it is not sunset facing do NOT come up here to watch the sunset. But lovely atmosphere and great view over the city.Average prices are €14 for a cocktail.
We booked there for 4 nights including breakfast. When we first arrived, it is true that the staff greeted us and provided a good customer service. We asked concierge to help to get some ticket to Royal Palace because I was told they can do that. But then they said they cannot do on my behalf so I was misled what they could do. About the restaurant, the girl host speaks English was fine but the waiter does not pick up any empty plates. The restaurant is supposed to open at 7 a.m. on the weekdays and one time they did not even open their doors. There were people waiting outside of the restaurant for good 20 minutes. No one bothers to ask us and wondered why there was a line. It turned out the girl host must be off and the waiter to keep the doors closed. We just thought the restaurant was not open. I just think there is room for improvement. We had 2 beds and the room is very small but I do like the location is very convenient so thats why I gave a 4 stars.
The hotel is clean with a friendly staff. The rooms are small but well designed and modern to make use of the space. Theres a nice terrace bar on the 7th floor. Its cool but in the weekends expect the loud music to travel to your room until 3 am. This is the reason why this hotel isnt getting a 5.
Great location and friendly staff. Our room with terrace was to our liking as well. Overall cleanliness of the rooms and hotel would benefit from spring cleaning. Bed was comfy and minibar well stocked. However, our favourite part of the stay was breakfast - excellent and well balanced selection of goods.
I enjoyed my time here on the rooftop bar and had a wonderful time. They brought a really nice DJ and there was a pretty nice diverse and crowd including a lot of tourists and people there for business. I didn’t stay in the hotel but it looked very nice. Most importantly a very friendly staff with exceptional service. I would recommend coming here if your visiting!
This place is very posh. It is a lamp for the night crawlers and you can meet a lot of beautiful people here with only fun on the mind, even if it is all business. Excellently located, stunning hotel staff, very clean, comfy bed, and one great place to end every night. I highly recommend this place. The hotel accommodations are next to none and whatever your desire, best to start here. The restaurants are pricy but be prepared for fantastic meals.
Just reviewing the roof terrace. We had dinner there. The restaurant in particular is quite enclosed large glass walls and large sun umbrellas make imposible to enjoy the fresh night air and it was very hot! The menu is quite limited I honestly thought some pages were missing. Great octopus but some of the dishes were at best average. The blue potatoes were just weird. The service was great.
Interesting hotel, but probably trying too hard to be interesting. All the accommodations are very nice. Great coffee in room and nice pillows. Nice breakfast spread in morning. Our only problem was on the roof top, basically terrible manager, told us to wait while he worked setting up tables, asked waiter for table and same thing, 10 minutes later, we asked someone else and sat us around corner where there were 20+ tables open. Still confused why he just didnt take two seconds and give us one of these tables, odd.
The Rooms are incredibly nice, at least the superior rooms with a view. There are also rooms with a view to a tiny backyard - these are less likable. Breakfast was not up to the level you would expect in such a nice hotel, close to mediocre. Still a five star experience all in all.
The staff was extremely helpful and nice. They helped us locate many things around town. The hotel itself is beautiful and sits on a nice square where people are eating and drinking all hours. The rooms are very cool with comfortable beds and nice showers. They even have soap, shampoo, conditioner, and facial scrub among other things. There is also free wifi which is a huge bonus. Everything is a short walk away.
