So I been to this place in 2015. It 2020 I have not ever found a place like it or anything like it in the city or out. Must do!!! And this is from black man 86.

Nice quiet place in a great location. Our server Vince was excellent! Great recommendations and extremely accommodating. We tried had the cheese board, hanger steak, mafaldine, and a dulce de leche cheesecake and everything was delicious! The only thing I wished was that we had a chance to sit in the garden as it was a beautiful night and looked very inviting, but unfortunately there was a wedding (darn beautiful acts of love). Will definitely be back!

Beautiful outdoor garden made for a relaxing and pleasurable experience. They have a very affordable wine list and very unique dishes to choose from. Loved the roasted beets with whipped tofu appetizer and blistered shishito peppers. Noteworthy as well were the white bean and basil ravioli and the seared scallops with crushed mint peas. Service was unobtrusive, friendly and attentive. Ive travelled around the world for years and have eaten in many excellent restaurants and M matches my highest rating.

Great food - the selection of appetizers is imaginative and delicious, as well as the main entrees. They have creative cocktails and the wine list is exceptional. All that in the most wonderful setting - the outdoor terrace is a must - to celebrate a delightful evening for lovers, family or a special event.

Incredible hospitality, food and vibe! Truly one of the most romantic venues in Philadelphia. Enter into a cozy space lit with candlelight and ambient sconces, the crimson walls and mirrored accents, which, provide the most intentional date night space. I’ve been to a bridal party in the garden as well as happy hour in the restaurant and it’s a beautiful experience!!

Severely underrated. This place has gin tastings!!! And great food!!! Even the service is incredible. A new local favorite.

This place is amazing. What a hidden gem!! Knowledgeable and fantastic service, great bar selection, delicious meals, adorable courtyard that beats anything nearby, weekly events- what more can I say!! This place is a must for date night, hosting family, entertaining friends etc. Everyone is sure to have a great experience.

This is a hidden gem of a restaurant...small, intimate with a cozy bar in the front and a separate dining room to the rear. An additional patio garden dining area is used whenever weather permits. The food I have enjoyed has been exceptional with some unique flavor pairings, a staff which seems eager to please and service which matches their enthusiasm. The wine list is well curated with something which should appeal to all but keeping within budgets. Thumbs up!!

Didnt have angy food, but the bartender was great and engaging and the staff super attentive.

Before dining here, I would recommend making sure they dont have an event happening at the same time since they sometimes keep the restaurant open while events take place in the courtyard. Service becomes a bit spottier as staff gets pulled into helping with the event.

Very nice outdoor drinking prices are also very OK. My favourite Whiskey costs 5 Dollars less than in other Bars

Had an amazing time here a few nights ago. Great ambiance and service. The courtyard attached to the hotel gave us an experience of the history of Philly. Order the Scallops and Rosemarys Baby cocktail both delicious.

Havent eaten here but have been to the bar several times. Not a place for a beer - selection is small and not especially good. Stick to wine or a shot, for which they have nice selection. Avoid the mixed drinks / cocktails. Theyre trying for signature specialty ones. Most are not good. Have both bad recipes and bartenders not being careful with proportion when mixing.

Food was delicious. Long wait for entree, but manager recognized and offered 10% off bill before we even inquired.

Was there for Valentines Day which is also our wedding anniversary. It was fantastic! Cozy and beautiful. Wait staff was attentive. Only hard part was deciding on what delicious dish to get! The mushroom soup was the best soup I have ever had (of any soup!). All of the courses were excellent. My brandy alexanders were delicious. A perfect evening. So beautiful. Will definitely return for other special occasions.

Had to send my entree (salmonback to be cooked when it came out raw inside. The staff seemed inattentive and bothered by having to fill water glasses. Really wanted to enjoy this beautiful spot, especially with an excellent soup, desserts, and atmosphere, but lackluster food and service really put a damper on the experience.

Lovely local neighborhood gem with affordable menu of classic favorites. Tucked near Washington Square this cute, cozy place is part of The Morris House Hotel that was built in 1787. A huge outdoor garden frames a dining space that we will for sure come back for in the spring. We had a cocktail first and Corey the new bartender was a delight to talk to. The bar is one of the cozier bars in the city with all the eclectic art on the walls. The dining room has red accented walls and is a place you can eat and talk at the same time without hearing loud obnoxious music. They played great jazz all night. We had delicious vichyssoise soup, pork kabobs and salmon for Restaurant week that were done to perfection. I thought the staff were friendly and kind, happily tending to our every request. That is rare these days. The hostess was also very lovely and made sure our night was perfect. We like M. It is a great find and we will be back!

Great restaurant, great food, and and the atmosphere is top notch. Great for happy hour or date night. Bartenders make great drinks and the customer experience is why you go to the boutique hotel next door ...!!

Went for New Year’s Eve tonight!! Bread wine salad and the soup was ok. Entrees and desserts were the worst ever!! I sent the undercooked lamb chops back for undercooked mushy mahi-mahi. Couldn’t even eat them. What a rip off!!Dessert looked liked something frozen out of a box. Well after all it was New Years Eve!!I do have to say the staff was very pleasant, accommodating and efficient.

The property is lovely we stayed at the morris hotel and had dinner at M. The hotel is a gem but we were so disappointed with the dinner. The soup was cold the salad consisted of arugula with an unbalanced amount of vinegar. Lastly dessert was inedible. I am not sure i would give it another try

Cheese assortment was good, chorizo-corn stew was bland and forgettable, red snapper was overcooked. What the food lacked in flavor, the place made up for it by having an exceptional staff.

Food was ok, definitely overpriced. My niece picked this place to celebrate her 16th Birthday.

Trout was delicious and presentation was good. Also took Craig Lebans advice and enjoyed the fried oysters and chicken salad appetizer

Ill start by saying they have a lovely outdoor patio and the warm bread was delicious.Our server was rude, extremely slow and we could watch him essentially throwing a fit inside the resturaunt periodically throughout the evening.The food was mediocre. Small portions and bland flavor.

Great food. The fresh made bread and sage and tarragon butter was to die for.

This restaurant was a place my wife and I walked by one day. It looked cozy, so we went in and it has quickly become our favorite place in the city. The food has been excellent every time and the menu changes quite often. One of their specialty drinks listed is called Snow Day and is out of this world! Give this place a try. No disappointments, for sure!

I cannot say enough about this place. My boyfriend and I came here with our two dogs and we were welcomed from the time we came until the time we left. Everyone was polite and accommodating. WE WILL BE BACK. This will be our new favorite place!

This little restaurant is a gem! The food is delicious, and the drinks are outstanding. I hesitated to write review, because I dont want this place to get too busy or I might not be able to get table when I want to eat there...lol.

The garden is very romantic and inviting. The food was very good as well. We ordered the beef tartare, gnocchi and kale salad as appetizers. For dinner, we ordered the short rib and the peppercorn pasta. The peppercorn pasta was interesting...thicker than the typical pasta but still very good. This is a great place for a nice dinner or just drinks as the drink menu has a great selection.

Happy Easter. Our waitress was fabulous. Our breakfast not so much. French toast and bacon were good omelet was pretty good but the pancakes and sausage were terrible. Originally the pancake arrived not cooked through second try they were cooked but favor was just not there. Sausage was dry and hard. Just cant recommend it for breakfast perhaps dinners are better. A very loud voice bellowed orders from the kitchen making atmosphere a bit tense. The pancakes and breakfast cocktails were deducted from our bill 😊

Wonderful atmosphere marred by jarringly loud, bad music. Attentive, friendly service. With a limited menu the food should be very good. It wasnt. Mediocre food- kale salad was old spinach leaves/no kale or nuts, salmon with leeks & apple/ squshy leek sauce & no apples, potato soup very good but a bit thick. Disappointed.

While the location is fantastic the food is sub par. Being a vegetarian while I accept a lack of options, whatever was served was appallingly poor. We started off with a uninventive Bibb lettuce salad that was poorly tossed and contained barely any cheese or dressing. It ended up with us eating just lettuce - panera has better salads than this.The second course was a mediocre medley of sauteed mushrooms. It was a bland experience with nothing out of the ordinary. The main course was a vegetarian gnocchi that did try and salvage the experience but fell flat with the uneven cooking and the lack of portion size. The dessert was average. Nothing that would make you go wow. Overall the menu and food was unimaginative, bland and disappointing - especially considering the premium $65 cost per person for the meal. Our server did not know what course we were on and seemed unenthusiastic. Home cooked food from blue apron costing $10 per person is better than this pathetic excuse .I do not anticipate returning

Went to Philly for the weekend and discovered M. The ambiance in the restaurant is amazing. Our table was in a comfortable room with a big fire place. The restaurant gave us a cozy historical feel. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious. We will definitely be back :)

Terrific service, romantic atmosphere, and a fresh seasonal menu, my fiancée and I loved our time there. The staff- Diane and the manager, Lowell- were warm and very friendly and definitely contributed to our overall celebratory evening. The cheese tray, drink options, and entrees were delicious. The atmosphere felt historical, romantic, elegant, and comfortable at the same time. One of our favorite overall dining experiences!

Beautiful outdoor area to eat. Excellent meat and cheese selections, our main course was delicious, and their drink selection is great as well. Only negative was the two people playing guitar were a little too loud and made it hard to converse at times. Other than that it was a great experience!

Theres a reason the "M" has been named the most romantic restaurant in Philly. Great atmosphere, wonderful staff and incredible food. Sitting inside or outside, a perfect experience. Went for our 10 wedding anniversary, surprised my wife, wed never been there before. She was floored, suggest the table in front of the gondola outside.

New Spring Menu 2016Fantastic food. Amazing service.We had the cheese board, which was amazing and varied. We had Miso honey with it which was some of the most amazing and creative garnishes we had.Pea soup was amazing, aqese cold soup.Braised ox tail made me want to buy a pressure cooker to try myself.Scallops were fantastic, so hard to cook but perfect.Short ribs were fall-off-the bone tender with a bean base that was awesome.Heirloom and melon salad was amazing, it had a great local cheese on it.The zuchini noodles were also very good. They sound like a cold dish, but were served warm. Amazing!!I would come here again, and recommend it to everyone.

Great food, fantastic service and the outside seating space was amazing. Would highly recommend checking out even if it is busy, totally worth it.

The food was delicious, wish we could have tried the bar bites, drinks were on point although Im not a big gin person so didnt take advantage of their specialty gin and tonic. We went in December so the restaurant and courtyard are decorated nicely with holiday cheer.

I had a great chicken breast for $25. It wasnt a huge portion, but it tasted great.

Met some friends here for drinks one day & discovered this hidden gem. I like the atmosphere & the bartender/wait staff are very friendly.

Ive been to M for dinner and had the 4 course tasting menu. I also added a cheese course as a starter. It was truly delicious, every course was delicious, and innovative. The service was stellar, the setting was elegant. Id highly recommend dining there.

If there is a place where I can eat from for free for the rest of my life , I have to choose this place. They have amazing dishes and I can’t believe that I am just discovering this place.

A word of warning: Dont check anything - if you must, empty your pockets. I came as a guest and by mistake left my wallet in my coat. When I got the checked coat back, my wallet was there with all the credit cards, to my great relief. It wasnt until I got back to my hotel that I realized my cash was gone.Next day I stopped back, complained and got the managers business card. After going back and forth via email, the restaurant did offer me a $100 gift certificate (my minimum estimate of the loss). As I explained to them, everyone in the party lived elsewhere, so a credit to a restaurant in Philly was next to useless. I suggested they credit $100 back onto my daughters card instead. (The bill was close to $400. They refused.Most of the reason I complained was because I wanted them to know they had a problem they needed to address. Yet throughout our discussions they insisted no one on their" trusted staff" would have taken the money. But, dont believe me - lets let them tell you themselves:"As unfortunate as it seems that you claim you lost $100.00 at our restaurant, it just is not something that we can prove one way or the other. The owners, who have had the Morris House Hotel and M for 12 years have never had an issue with theft on the premises. Never. It is hurtful to them that the first conclusion you jumped to was theft at M. They are not obliged to do anything, and honestly most restaurant owners wouldnt. They were very kind in even extending the gift card offer to you. When checking a garmet (sicin a public place it is typically the responsibility of the owner of the garment to give a coat that does not contain valuables."This sort of attitude was on display from the beginning, which is why I pursued it via email. Ah well, none so blind as those who will not see. They are wrong to be "hurt" that I reported a theft, or to hint Im trying to scam $100 from them. I didnt "jump" to any conclusion. I observed and made a rational deduction. The only place my wallet went without me was downstairs to their basement in the inside pocket my overcoat.However, they are absolutely right that I should have checked my pockets. Ill give them that. I probably make that mistake once every couple of decades or so. Hopefully this experience will cure me of it permanently.

I would like to say that I have been in the city for a few years now and never knew about "M" until I stumbled passed it one afternoon very stressed out from a hectic day at work. The wonderful woman at the door told me to go have a drink and bite to eat and unwind. I stepped inside and immediately felt as if i were back in Europe in a garden at a pension! I was completely relaxed immediately and found out it was run by family members who went out of their way for me...hearing Argentine Spanish being spoken by the staff really made it feel as if I were not in the US! What a treat, my hectic day was nothing but a faint memory. I was handed a wine and cocktail menu by my server and thought there was something on it for everyone...very appropriate for the place. I nibbled on a charcuterie plate and marinated olives while reading my book and drinking a glass of a wonderful, sicilian wine. What more could you ask for? As for the prices, by far the least expensive in that neighborhood. Now i know why most people want to keep it their hidden, little secret!
