Svobody Ave, 28, Lviv, Lviv Oblast, Ukraine, 79000, L'viv
Imposing theater, open since 1900, with ornate, columned facade, hosting opera & ballet productions.
Lovely place. Put on a great show for New Year!!!
Amazing place! We were on excursion at day time. 40min -1 hour and you will see the most interesting parts of the building for fair price.
Looks great or even magnificent. That was one of main "signs" on the route during daily wandering around Lviv. Next time gonna enjoy whats given inside - another piece of fine art music&dance.
I had such a magical time here, watching Carmen from a private box. The atmosphere, performances and price were all fantastic. This was the standout highlight of my trip to Lviv.
The best place of Lviv. Opera House is majestic any hour of the day or night. Magneficiant. Heart of the city. Beautiful monument
A magnificent experience, we couldnt get a reservation online due to technical reasons, so we bought it directly from the opera , only seats in the back remained , it has strict policy to enter due to Covid , we had to present vaccine certificates.Incid the hall they had distance measurements, the show started at time , it was so lovely & amazingHighly recommended if you ever visit this lovely city.
A beautiful opera house. Also has top level performers and fantastics sets.
Saw an opera and ballet. Very nice! Lovely opera house, very ornate! Excellent performances.
Ticket prices varies from 75 to 500 grivna. Starts around 3 usd. Definitely a must see attraction. But it is hard to understand cause it was Italian and subtitles are Ukrainian. I suggest to add english 😁
It is soo amazing place with unique architecture, definitely you must visi
Beautiful Palace with nice decoration. We saw Tosca and we had one very close balcon to the stage, very good and the staff was very helpful, indicating where everything was. Again, Instagramers are killing the vibe, it takes forever to go upstairs because of people wanting to take photos alone in the staircase...
Fantastic place. Beautifully decorated and we had an amazing night there watching the ballet performance of Don Quixote.
Brilliant inside and outside✨ and the artists are amazing. Deserves to be recognizedIll be back 😍
Mozart concert was really great. Everyone should have this experience. Definitely going again.
Must visit place. You can get a ticket for any budget.
Great architecture 💫 beautiful from outside and inside ✨ with dancing fountain ⛲️ front of the building 👍
Saw "When the Fern Blooms" bought tickets for 300 Hryvna excellent place and a clear sight on the stage. Workers are very nice and helpful if you dont speak Ukrainian. Beautiful place what more can I say?
I like the opera, it is amazing place , you will feel the highly amazing historical culture from the building
Very beautiful and amazing .The water foundain in front of it is really super.
Best place in The Lviv. At noon, people have a pleasant time with the water show.
Well if you are a music lover this is one of the places that you can go or if I put it correctly you have to go. Subtitles are in Ukrainian and there is nothing in English. The seats were very disturbing also the air inside was very stale and there was no air flow.
University is away from city centre. Not many things around.
Very nicely decorated opera house and they have a pamphlet i english for when looking around inside.Be aware when coming to watch an opera or musical here that some seats have a bad view. It seems to be because they prioritized the architecture over usability.
Amazing and beautiful opera house. With best performers and performances. I enjoy it every time. One of a kind architecture. Beautiful inside out ♥️
A really beautiful Opera House..Ive seen some wonderful performances....and I try to visit, whenever I am in Lviv)
I visited Lviv Opera on September 16, 2018 (Sunday). It was during performance of Aida by Giuseppe Verdi. This beautiful theatre is designed similarly as many opera buildings built at that time (eg. Mahen Theater in Brno, Czech Republik, or Slowacki Theater in Krakow, Poland). It has an elegant staircase, luxurious Mirror Foyer, and beautiful interior of the opera hall. The excellent curtain painted by Henryk Siemiradzki is on display before performance starts. The painting figures on the curtain are explained by speaking recording which is done only in Ukrainian language (despite availability of translating text to electronic dashboard above the stage window). And during performance the only translation of operas original text is done on the dashboard only into Ukrainian language.Staging of this AIDA is traditional, and opera singers are from local opera troupe. The best was Aida (by vocal and expressive terms), and the worst was Radames (who was often cheating by not finishing/ cutting his vocal phrases).Aida is long, and in addition was made even longer by its three breaks. During breaks no refreshments were available in the opera building. The buffet is in the local called Livyy Bereh, which is located on right wing of the building. As operas ushers explained us, the management of Livyy Bereh simply closed their venue for operagoers because they had their own closed private party on that day. I never in my entire life attended any opera theatre in the whole world - that did not have at least a simple stand with drinks and snacks. But this is not the end. By making my research, I found out that Livyy Bereh is not simple place just located in Lviv Operas building. Inside it has some memorabilia related to past artists, like Solomiya Krushelnytska - famous diva (opera is named after her name). By closing this place, I was not able to see these precious items. And it was my only day in Lviv with chance to go to opera!Although I visited Lviv with group (excursion), I had my own reservation for one parter seat. I was told that reservation would be held till 13:00 on the day of performance, but instead it was cancelled, and my reserve ticked was released for sale. I was lucky that no one bought the seat, and my friends bought me that seat on the morning of performance after box office just opened... I would love to buy my ticket in advance, but the reservation system which Opera uses (Kontramarca.uais discriminating customers located abroad of Ukraine - by not allowing purchases (it is asking not only for email, but also for telephone number, and both my New Yorks numbers - cell & stationary - couldnt go through).I am giving only two stars because poor experiences with booking system, and closed buffet during performance.
Lviv’s resplendent opera house is one of the city’s symbols and stands alone on Freedom Square.A design competition in the 1890s was won by Polish architect Zygmunt Gorgolewski, and he made a few technical innovations: This location had been marshland, watered by the Poltva River, which was diverted underground. The theatre was then built onto a concrete platform, and after sinking for a couple of years eventually stabilised.Almost 120 years later, this marvellous venue remains the place to get a blast of high culture at a matinee or evening performance, where seats are implausibly inexpensive. In residence is a 90-piece orchestra, first-class soloists and a ballet troupe, all with an extensive repertoire.
Tickets are very cheap, even for private balcony. However for a tourist who does not know Ukranian its little boring. Theyre prompting some texts above the stage but unfortunately its also in Ukranian.
An absolutely stunning building designed by Gorgolewski, wonderful interiors... and both crowd and staff that have no idea how to behave in an opera. People were talking loudly, using their mobile phones throughout the performance, the staff was shouting "turn off your mobile phone" during the quiet parts of the opera. Definitely an unique experience.
excellent performance of the dancers and music. Nice classic decoration. The prices range from 120 to 500, very reasonable.
Stunning opera house with beautiful interior. Visited "Cinderella", great performance for the kids!
Incredibly beautiful theatre! Amazing architecture. Great artists, decorations, performans itself. One strange thing, that such beautiful theathe doesnt have cafe or restoran inside where you can sit by the table and have a glass of shampagne or cup of coffee. Now there is only a small table with beverages in the lobby and you can drink it standing in the corner...
Fantastic Opera House! The music is incredible. The acting and singing were top notch! Tickets are anywhere from 50 Ukrainian to 500 for a normal show on Sunday evening. They serve drinks inside which are a bit pricey (200 Ukrainianas to be expected 🤷♂️ Its worth the ticket to see the inside of this amazing building 🤩💞
Beautiful venue. Simply a joy to experience a performance in such a lovely work of art. Both the view and acoustics were good.
If İ would ever have a choice to visit only one place in Lviv, certainly Ill choose the Opera theatre. Because its great chance to feel magic of live sound. Wonderful voices of artists, amazing orchestra, impressive interior - its absolutely must-see perfomance.
The place is really nice. I truly enjoyed the performance. Unfortunately, I need to post some critique about the audience which was allowed to join the event. Many of people were late, and still were allowed to join the concert. Most of them were tourists for whom the only reason to buy the ticket was to see the interior of the Opera. They didnt understand and enjoy the music, they were rude and loud. They just destroyed amazing atmosphere created by the artists. Shame on you "people of the cattle class"!
Lovely building and square in front of it. It seems locals like spending their Sunday late afternoon/evenings there, in the case of good weather. I loved the relaxing atmosphere.
Really affordable ticket prices. Overpriced and pretty bland snacks and alcohol. No hard rules for garments but most people come well dressed. Obligatory cloak room (separate for balcony 3 at the top). Subtitles in Ukrainian.Worth visiting even just for sightseeing the decor. No idea how they change the lightbulbs in that chandelier.
If you like some good and happy crowd, go get yourself a hike through the central strip. Make sure you have some cash! Therell be lots of goodies you can buy. But hurry its gone after the holidays.Fathers advise: set a meeting point with your kid in case he gets lost. Or educate your kids to reach out for police. Those guys are usually all around the place there
The opera house is beautiful, the seats fairly comfortable, and acoustics were decent. We paid 350 UAH for front row seats on a Friday night. The opera we attended left much to be desired; a static set design, discordant music, and a chorus that was difficult to understand. Watching the orchestra keep up with a frenetic and complex score of fairly modern music was quite entertaining; my hat is off to that percussion section!
What a beautiful building inside and out!! We enjoyed a cherry wine next to the fountain before our show. Programmes were in English and Ukrainian and the lady at the ticket office spoke English. If you book at the ticket office, they only accept cash. But the coffee shop on the corner across the road accepts cards. Well definitely go again when we visit Lviv! Tickets ranged from 50-600 hryvnia.
The Lviv Opera as seen from Freedom Avenue a beautiful scene. It built by Polish architect and its a main attraction in the city at main town square.
Main Iconic building of Lviv. This is the most visited place in Lviv with beautiful view of fountain and at front, and Mcdonald on right side and a series of Cafes and restaurants on left side and walk way at front with benches for sitting on right and left.
Small teathre hall but very beautiful. The show was some new modern opera so i didnt liked it i preffer something classic. But over all was very nice and the music was fine played by the orchestra. Nice place but for a classic shows.
Wonderful opera house. Lots of gold and fine decorations. You may only visit it when not in use, so go and check when it i spossible. You can also buy a ticket for an event and spend more time inside.
Great place to visit when you in Lviv, ticket cost was 150gr / 7€ there is a toilet available and all around inside look like from a gold very recommended to everyone.
Most emblematic places in Lviv, worth to go during the night! Beautiful place to take pictures and many places around can feed you very well! Whole city very cheap and delicious homemade meals.
I like opera and baler. This time I chose Premiere in Lvivs national theater...I was amazed! All singers, balet dancers and orchestra did great job. If you like culture or even architecture...I recommend to visit Lvov / Lviv and especially this theater 😊
Beautiful place! One of the best in Ukraine. Everyone who visit Lviv must go there.
So pretty❣️. On a cold raining day, I was sad to not seeing a performance but walk into a rehearsal ❣️ The tour was not English, but the ticket lady said I could walk around all open area buying a solo ticket. It was the best morning surprise ever.
