Enduring amusement park known for its perimeter roller coaster and giant, ornate carousel.
It was amazing so many rides that I tried. It was my first time there and I was very nervous but as soon as I got on the staff members made sure to double check everything😁
We set up our photo booth here, the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly.
Dont go in Victoria school holidays. Tooo long waits for the rides. But my son and grandson had a blast. The ride operators were awesome. Thank you.
First time coming here in years. Really fun and very helpful and nice staff. Biggest issue was that I didnt realise it would take around d an hour to get in. This was during school holidays though so it was a busy time. If you go, its best to wait until around 1pm as the crowds will start to slow. I wish it was open for longer though!
Luna Park is the worst of the Victorian tourist traps and perhaps the worst tourist trap in the country. The prices are exorbitant and the rides are third rate. None of them would make the cut for a country fair in an American state, or an amusement park in the third word. Most of the rides are technically temporary, like the ones you’d see on the grounds of a circus except they have been there for longer than you’ve been alive. The scenic railway functions worse than when constructed. It’s an hour wait, you cannot queue for your child while they do something else. The ride was clearly designed to use two coasters, like any of the ancient wooden roller coasters, with one loaded up with people and ready to go as the another one finishes up. Who knows how long that functionality has been broken but it means they can only process 18 people at a time. The haunted car ride is a sick joke. Nothing happens for the first half of it. Literally, there’s a goblin painted with glow in the dark paint. The ride “kicks off” with a dusty decades old skeleton. The entire places reeks of sadness and decay but it was never good in the first place. Like the other tourist traps, it’s reviews are bolstered by locals who grew up with it and the desire to defend ‘straya but it’s terrible by third word standards. The worst part about the place is the people. It’s an expensive scam and you should leave after an hour or two max. But there are many people to whom they must get their moneys worth. There are many mullets but also religious headwear (bc it’s wholesome I suppose). The desire/need of people to wring some value of this place makes it so much worse. Parents go on the rides with their older kids, slowing down the queue for everyone. Families camp down in the few tapped available for hours, making it even harder to eat inedible food.Everything about this place is terrible beyond words. Unless you are 5 or under, and then it’s pretty cool. I cannot understand why couples and people with older children go here, it makes no sense. If parents had any other choice, they’d go elsewhere. If you don’t have to go here, do not go here. You will regret it.
Loved the 100 year old rollercoaster, multiple rides made my stomach churn, and the park was laid out well. All in all $50 well spent for an afternoon of fun!
I loved it.Ive been passing it for a long time deciding whether to go inside or not, but Im glad I finally did. Its really fun! And it doesnt matter how old you are.Make sure to buy the unlimited pass, though, as the single ticket option is not really worth the money because the rides are not too long.
Kids enjoyed it. 2hr wait for the railway ride, people jumping the fence and pushing in, nothing was done after I reported it to staff. Food is terrible. Rides were good.
Such an amazing place to enjoy your day ♥️ if u are brave at heart....do not hesitate to enjoy every ride 👍 amazing roller coaster ride and other adventure rides but recommended to visit on a sunny day 🌞
We went during a busy time - school holiday and lovely spring weather. The operators on most rides dont maximize number of people on the ride causing even longer wait times. Very limited especially as Victorias only permanent amusement park. But pretty neat to see the vintage rides. A recent time but not worth the full price as an adult. Make sure you buy tickets in advance as they limit the capacity (though you couldnt tell by the long lines!)
Luna Park is a definite must to visit while in Melbourne. More for kids under 14 as Ive noticed due to some rides. Paying one price to go in and then all rides are unlimited was great and worth the price. Only downfall long wait times. Staff are great and friendly and double check safety when locking you into the ride.
Luna park used to look like a run down, old, neglected complex which I assumed was going to shut down due to lack of interest. But someone must have spent some money and time on it because it is a much better experience than just a few years ago. Theyve renovated the whole place and added many new rides. It actually looks and feels like a fair or theme park with plenty to do for all age groups which is usually difficult when you have young kids. The staff are all friendly and happy to help out. And the wait times are not too ridiculous when its busy. But still, allow for up to 1.5 hours in line for popular rides like the famous roller coaster which everyone wants to go on.Prices are not too ridiculous for what you get, the new large rides make it worth the cost, and are priced so that it really only makes sense to buy the unlimited rides tickets. Be prepared to spend at least 4 hours there if you want to try most or all of the rides.Overall it is a very positive experience for our family and will definitely try it again one day.
This park does not cater for larger built people. I was let onto 2 rides and both times was told to leave due to my size. I witnessed the same happen to another patron. I am displeased with the discrimination towards larger bodied people and the humiliation caused to myself and other attendees. This Park needs change to include all people. I do not recommend supporting this business.
You gonna love the rides….long queue for rides because of the weekend. Super fun hit the duck game , hammer and ball throw games.friendly staff❤️
Had the most brilliant time while celebrating my best friends birthday, came on a hot day and there was barely a que for any of the rides. SUCH GREAT RIDES!!! It’s also just near the beach so we went there for a cool off after! (Fantastic areawould recommend!!
Great day for the kids to enjoy some fun rides. However the queues were very long, and in between people getting off and on the staff were standing around having a good chat, which made wait times longer. The food van is disgusting there. Unclean and long line again. The Cafe is nice however. The train ride is fun for younger or sensitive kids. However the rude customers in the park get in the way and are too arrogant to move when horn is sounded. There needs to be an area that the train can drive through without interruption its an accident waiting to happen. All in all the kids loves it and thats what mattered most.
Normally when you pay money to enter a place, you want to feel while youre there that youd prefer to be there than anywhere else, but unfortunately I wanted to leave the whole time I was there. Its clear the park struggled after the pandemic, but that doesnt justify the absolute cash grab that this park has become. Pass-outs are no longer allowed, forcing you to eat the exorbitantly priced food on offer at the park, and a storage locker costs a further $10 :( On top of that, we were informed after buying our ticket that only 4 adult rides were open that day. Booking tickets online wont get you through any faster, so be sure to scope out the grounds before making a decision whether its worth it.
All the rides are very exciting at this park. Rides lovers must make a day long program. Especially kids are going to love this place. Before buying the tickets some one must know the height restrictions of the rides because all kids are not allowed to ride all the events.
The roller-coaster was a great experience despite the extremely long wait time and its of historical significance to the area but overall not a whole lot else in the park is very different from your average carnival if youre looking for a lot of variation.
We, a family of 4, visited luna park in Jul-2022. As we visited on a weekday, there was plenty of parking in the Shakespeare grove just outside luna park. The parking fee was $16.12 for the day (until midnight), including the $0.12 card fee. It was expensive but convenient.I had booked luna park tickets online a few days earlier and the entry process was smooth. The tickets were $155 for 2 adults and 2 kids (family ticket). The luna park itself is quite small and as my eldest was 6, there weren’t many options. We could take about 6-8 rides and didn’t feel it to be money’s worth. The food in the different stalls are the same, with some stalls having more options. The chips, chicken burger and the coffee was good. Hope this helps, thanks.
It is a happy place to be honest. Especially if you have kids and also if you’re a kid at heart just like me 🤪 anyways, we came there last sunday and we are the first ones in the line.the park opens at exactly 11am.. it was drizzling that time so some of their rides were put into a hault just until the rain stops especially on the scenic railway and it is understandable coz ita safety risk with wet railway..but yeah had to wait for sometime and they finally opened the railway and it was so cool…
Great trip down nostalgia lane. A great visit and affordable. It is small and there were a few rides and renovations in progress but when complete should look fantastic. The carousel in my opinion is amazing. So old school you fee like you are on the set of a movie. They only lost a star because of the facade being blocked off for photos.
Inside there are Fast food shops with reasonable price and convenient. For adults w/ elder kids 12+, its a paradise.School holiday is a queuing game.
Its predictably pricey to enter and ride, but there is something cool about riding on a rollercoaster thats more than 100 years old. The ghost train must be appreciated for its historical value - taking any other perspective will lead to disappointment. The dodgem cars were fun but suffered from the most comprehensive loading/unloading procedure Ive ever seen. It was quicker boarding our flight back to Brisbane 😜
I am so mad right now. The ticket lady was really nice at first, and I originally wanted to buy park entry which should’ve been $15, but I was charged $20. A friend of mine then offered to pay for a unlimited ticket, so I upgraded. But park entry shouldn’t be $20?? I get that it’s only $5 but 1. I’m a teenager, I don’t have much money 2. Things are expensive now a days? The lady seemed super sweet at first but it turns out she overcharged me 😒 rides were okay. Wait time is very long. The fairy floss also melted when it was a cold day
Great experience…! Love to repeat it more and more…! The price is reasonable and you can ride unlimited rides. Children are amused and excited being there. Suitable for kids and adults. Highly recommended especially in school holidays.
In 2022 people have to line up for 3 hrs to get one ride. I thought we would like up now to travel to mars not a 100 years old roller coaster. The owner could simply make an app to make lineups easier. If he is not he either doesnt care or enjoys watching you lining up for hours.
Quite busy on a weekend. Also it was 2 hrs before closing time but still managed to take as many rides as possible.. some staff are quite slow even with simplest rides and small number of queues, probably its end of the day and they must be tired too.!!
Lunar park is a fantastic experience for young children. Go and have a blast!
Pay to enter, I went to show my friend form Brisbane how great lunar park was. Its now pay to enter please be aware.
Pretty good rides. Two were closed. Long wait times, slow ride operators (for some rides), no ability to social distance in queues. Worth a try, but plan your trip carefully.
Good spot to take the kids for a bit of nostalgia. They make it difficult to enter just to have a look so expect to wait to get in.The scenic railway is worth doing once but expect a long wait. We were in a short queue for 45 mins.
Not a huge amusement park though great for the kids. They children loved it. We went on mothers day, there was huge waiting lines for some of the rides 45 minutes to an hour, while children rides not so much.
Good fun. Lots of rides packed in to small space. The scariest part of the scenic railway is when they tell you it is 100 years old!Food is slow and expensive as is expected. Buy tickets online- approx $50 for unlimited adult rides.
Waited for so long twice in the que and they just closed the ride for which I paid $51, wast of money, if you cant operate it then close it.
Super fun, smaller than other theme park but thats its attraction. The roller coaster is awesome. The wait times were not bad even though it was school holidays. Fairy floss is the best Ive ever tasted.
We had an amazing time! The amount of rides in such a small space is really well done so impressed. It was super busy but thats to be expected especially on a public holiday, though the booking online only was an excellent way to manage the crowds.
Very busy due to a public holiday, however we didnt have to wait overly long to get in or to get on rides
So much fun for the whole family. Highly recommended! 😁 Rides and attractions for all ages. 😊
Good place to visit if you are in Melbourne, however it can be quite expensive. We only went of the roller coaster (which was super fun and had amazing views of St Kildahowever be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes in line to get on some rides. The arcade was also super fun!
We visited on an Easter Sunday. As expected, huge crowd but not chaotic. My kids had so much fun. My 3-year old especially enjoyed the egg hunt.
excellent for kids and also for adults, as the history of some of the rides ( like the carouselmake fascinating reading like it was built in USA , cost 26 000 dollars, and is 1 of only 68 ever built, and the only 1 ever exported also the staff are helpful and put the safety of the children as their no1 priority
If I am being honest it was my first time visiting Luna park and I had so much fun. All the rides were awesome staff were fantastic. The must try ride is the ghost train its fun😆
So much fun with rides for the different level of thrill seeking for our family. Some vendors were cash only which isnt great in our mostly cashless society. More signage for toilets would be good. The entry with unlimited rides is great value.
Great place for kids and particularly teenagers to have a good day in the sun. Lots of restaurants in walking distance as well as the beach right behind the park. Al of the rides are fun and have different levels of adrenaline. Not much to do for younger kids and adults who maybe don’t wanna spin upside down. Over all semi-reasonable prices (still got the theme park food price tag but it’s not totally unreasonable). The staff were all lovely and involved. When some teenaged boys were yelling out to me and my friend, the staff made sure we were okay and safe. The staff clearly enjoy their job and it makes the overall experience better Overall a great place to spend a day.
This was a cool place to visit. Im sure if you were a kid, you would rate it higher 🙂. The 109yr roller-coaster was different lol. We only stayed for a short time, but at least I can say Ive been
We were there at the right time. Barely any wait times for rides. Most staff are super friendly. Hot food is priced well and is actually delicious. Entry fee is a bit pricey though.
Luna Park was amazing. Temperatures taken before your let in, staff cleaning rides constantly and so much fun. We purchased unlimited rides and it was worth the money. Fantastic day out.
very good place but little crammed up in a small place. Is in the current situation of covid, it feels not safe to go to a crowded location, but the rides are very exciting, good food options too available after a exciting fun filled day of rides.
If you r looking for a day out having some fun, this is the place to go. If you are looking for a fantastic amusing park... Not the place to go. It is small, cute but small. The rides are vintage. My kids had a great day with their friends.
