Lumbini Museum - Museum in Bhairahawa, Nepal
I enjoyed everything about ancient times.
Good area
Consists of many materials related to Gautam budddha.
A really nice overview about buddhism in Nepal and all over the world, definetly worth the small amount of 50 rupees as an entrance fee! I think they could definetly ask for a little more to put the extra earnings into keeping some of the exponats in better shape :Also its a little confusing that you gotta buy the tickets 200 m away from the entrance
Lumbinī is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Lumbini Province in Nepal. It is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Mahamayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama at around 563 BCE.

Lumbinī (Nepali and Sanskrit: लुम्बिनी listen (help·info), "the lovely"is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi District of Province No. 5 in Nepal. It is the place where, according to Buddhist tradition, Queen Mahamayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama in 563 BCE. Gautama, who achieved Enlightenment some time around 528 BCE,became the Buddha and founded Buddhism. Lumbini is one of many magnets for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha.
Perfect place but need good care.
Birthplace of Buddha. One must visit here once in their life time. I visited here for a short time but got influenced by it a lot. It is open from early morning to late night. It is open for everybody. You dont need to take any transportation from Gate to reach there as it is just 5 min walk. To visit whole area you need to separate time around 3 hour and need to take transportation.
Awesome place always feel good and Happy 🙏🙏🙏 Here you can show Different Types of Temple in Lord Buddha So,please once Visit here and Feel awesome time in your life....🙏🙏🙏🙏
It would have been better if they provided maps or direction boards to different temples...
Lumbini is an extremely important historical site and a pilgrimage. The main Maya Devi temple has palace ruins dating back to the time of Buddha, perhaps before. The whole place is very well laid out architecturally. The main pavilion that leads to the main Maya Devi temple is easily more than a kilometer long. It is gorgeous with wide walking passages on either side of a pool that runs the entire course of the pavilion. Monasteries from different nations, that sits on either wing of the pavilion, adorn the place even more, each reflecting its own culture, architecture and take on Buddhism. For some reason, they allow cars, scooters and tuk tuks inside the premise to transport visitors. So expect a lot of incessant honking, dust, and people racing about sometimes to the detriment of the pedestrians. Also someone got the brilliant idea to operate motor boats in the pool making the whole place look and sound like an amusement park.If you can look past the disappointing bits, this place is genuinely amazing.
Its good, but cleaning the area is must, the whole surrounding
I love this place so much. Peaceful environment and different Buddhist vihars are so beautiful. Once more time I want to visit. Government of Nepal should protect this cultural heritage.
The start....... of a great religion !
Various stupa made by different countries ..good to visit
Our peace land
Good place to see where Lord buddha was born, according to Buddhism.
This small museum largely features replicas of items from India. Id class this as a small collection of artifacts relating to buddhism - NOT a Lumbini museum (i.e. artifacts found exclusively in Lumbini).Entrance is 50rs.Items/ lables of items are not well maintained.
Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, the UNESCO World Heritage Site witnessed different activities from April 28 to 30 2018
good place to visit.but most of the idols are replicas.dont forget to buy separate tickets to enter here.
Historic things are found.
ExcellentThe birth place of Lord buddha, Lumbini can be a pleasant destination for holy as well as other tourists. The place is not only important for its historic reason but also for monasteries built by different countries to present their art and architecture. The crowd can sometimes disturb you but everybody can enjoy the place at their best.Perhaps I had my expectations too high, but i was underwhelmed by Lumbini. Most monasteries are very nice and offer good photo opps. What really got to me was the lack of religious activity, perhaps one might have chosen the wrong time to visit. I highly suggest hiring a bike to tour the sight, it gives the experience a highly enjoyable dimension (around NPR 150).Lumbini is a must to visit one time in life. It is Buddhas birthplace. Maya Devi Temple is set in the middle of the park known as the Lumbini Development Zone. Works are still in progress but there many beautiful monasteries, temples, stupas built by Buddhist communities from around the world. Its worth a visit. A must!!!
they had a nice collection of historical martial knowledgeable place
Not worth the time. All of the exhibits are either photographs or replicas. There are no original items from what I could tell. The only reason to go is to get a break from the sunshine.
Very nyc place for all Gf Bf nd family creating is superb I love this place ND I want to go this place with my wife..
The birth place of Lord Buddha, the Lumbini is perfect example of peace and harmony among people of different religions .
Lumbini lies in the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal. The site is a large garden with a grove of pipal trees. The area around Lumbini is entirely Hindu, but many Buddhist temples and shrines from various nations are scattered around the holy site itself. The most important temple at Lumbini is the Maya Devi Temple, which enshrines the traditional site of the Buddhas birth. The current temple stands on the site of earlier temples and stupas, including the stupa built by Ashoka. The modern temple consists mainly of simple white building that protects ancient ruins, with the exact spot of the Buddhas birth identified. The delicate sandstone sculptures discovered here are now in the National Musuem in Kathmandu.Atop the temple is a small square tower of the type seen in Kathmandu, with Buddha eyes on each side and a golden pinnacle on top.On the south side of the temple is a sacred pool (see top photo), where it is said Maya Devi bathed before giving birth, and where the newborn Buddha was washed by two dragons. The Maha Devi temple is surrounded by the brick foundations of ancient temples and monasteries. All around Lumbini, long lines of colorful prayer flags are strung between trees. They carry prayers and mantras heavenward as they flap on the breeze. The other main sight of interest at Lumbini is Ashokas Pillar, near the temple. It is protected by a small fence, which is decorated with prayer flags and banners from the faithful. Around the courtyard containing the pillar are bowls for incense sticks, and there is room to sit in front of the pillar for contemplation.
Best place
one of the best place to hangout and spend the day with your family and all your friends where you all problems can be resolved and you will experience all new features and thats why it is the place to go whenever you are tired or want to spend time with your beloved ones an most important it is being famous for the youth specially and for the elders as well i just loved to spend time here and visit here.
Nothing to see in the museum
Dont miss this place after visiting all the places of lumbini otherwise you may feel regretful.
Historically ancient monuments
There are beautiful and historical artefacts in here from the time of Gautam Buddha. You should get a ticket and get in.
Museum about the birthplace of Buddha, curious architecture like the rest of the compound
I wish there were more original artifacts
Lumbini is the birth place of lord Buddha. Its a holy place as well where many people come to visit and feel the peace in their mind, heart as well as to make their soul peace.
World heritage place, but Nepal government not taken it seriously. The outside of Lumbini Monastery Zone is poluted with plastic and other human garbages. Though the inside is strict for dos and donts. Overall experience is good due to the historic importance of the place. Outside sculpture shops are too expensive and sometime a foreigner can get fooled. To visit every temple and roam with vehicle you have to get tickets pricing around 450 Nepalese Rupee, but most of the new temple/pagoda did not get a good road rather than a muddy one. So development somehow stopped. But it is worth to visit.
