One of the greatest cocktail lounges in GR. The yupper old fashioned is one of the best smoked drinks Ive ever had.

This is a MUST visit. While walking through the Amaway Grand Hotel we stumbled upon this very cozy cocktail bar. It has that old-school, exclusive, members only, cigar bar feel for sure. The cocktails are well thought out and prepared by a very professionals, not just some person they found for minimum wage. All of this does come at a price, but the experience is totally worth it! I will be back, often.

Great place to go for craft cocktails. If you cant get in at ruth chris you can still get the same food there. Staff is friendly and attentive. Perfect place for date night!

Nice & cozy atmosphere. But really weak drinks (and that is something I almost never complain about). My husband and sister agreed with me. We all ordered vodka/soda water. Bartender was pleasant.

Lovely old design and cozy feel with really well thought out cocktails.They serve Ruth’s Chris’ menu, so no reason to go sit the restaurant.

Came in for a drink before a show at DeVos Place. After the waitstaff took our order, the waitstaff proceeded to stand in the doorway to a room behind the bar and have a conversation with another employee for 10 minutes, as seen from our table. After the ten minute conversation, the waitstaff went behind the bar and began making our order. The waitstaff was on their phone while making our order. Im not sure if there was an important text message to attend to, or if they didnt know how to make a negroni or a last word.

Must visit! The bartenders, Mitch and Matt are amazing and their cocktails are works of art! Love the old school vibe and chill atmosphere. Visited on two occasions and ordered 4 different drinks... Each one was mind blowing! Back in town in a few weeks... Cant wait to belly up to the bar for some serious craft cocktails again!

It sure starts by being located in one of the best hotels in downtown Grand Rapids, the Amway Grand, but this little cubby hole of a club just oozes old school cool ! Dark paneled rooms are lit by small library lamps or wall fixtures with equal distinction, and youll be waited on by prompt waiters who can mix literally anything that your heart desires .... A cozy fireplace welcomes you to sit back and enjoy your cocktail in a casual club atmosphere that is hard to find these days .... My particular visit was marred by a warring argumentative couple across from me, which only made me move to a more secluded location in the bar, but still made me appreciate the type of old school club that you can rarely find .... A true gem

The food is amazing and the bartenders Mitch and Matt are the best in town. The smoked drinks are beyond amazing. The service is great and the atmosphere is very relaxing. The steak sandwich is a must try menu item for sure. I highly recommend visiting this bar.

I felt like an elite business woman back in the old days. And the drink that they made me wasnt even on the menu but it was perfect and exactly what I asked for. I would highly suggest coming here to have a drink, just be prepared to drop at least $50 for drinks for two, but it is well deserved and appropriate for the setting and ambiance.

who would have thought that such a cozy little bar could be located inside the Amway Grand Hotel. Classy wood finish walls and a classic drink menu. Play tourist and try the Yooper Old Fashion, whiskey, maple syrup and fennel bitters smoked under a glass bell. A crowd pleaser.also a well stocked liquor selection with some 15 plus year Scotch selections.

The Lumber Baron Bar is a paradox. Make no mistake, it is a fabulous bar and one Id visit daily if I could! But... It is very small, generally quiet and intimate. Because of that, many good people stumble upon it only to be turned away due to the small size. But quite honestly, thats a good thing and an integral part of the charm and magic that is the Lumber Baron! If you are lucky enough to find a seat, relax and peruse the extensive drink menu & wine list. May I suggest my favorite - the Yooper Old Fashioned. Cheers!

Wonderful starter to a classy night out. Huge comfy leather chair and a great glass of wine, who could ask for anything more! Cozy atmosphere...but bring some extra cash!

Excellent bar with best bourbon cocktail I have ever had(smoked cherry). I am from Kentucky so my bourbon bar, pardon the pun, is high. And the Lumber Bar surpassed it in service, ambience, and taste. I will start and/or end my nights here whenever I am in Grand Rapids.

Didnt even know that this place was here. Great atmosphere with good drinks. Prices were a little above my usual budget but sometimes you need to treat yourself. Order the Yooper if you want a nice drink with great presentation.
