Luang Prabang Morning market - Market in Phongsali, Laos
Certainly worth a visit to see such an array of fruit and vegetables, meat and fish .... live frogs, eels, and Christ knows what else - a bit of a shock to me as a westerner who hasnt travelled much to see the things that people buy to eat...definitely a culture shock, but one I am pleased that I saw.
They sell some nice and some not so nice stuff there.
It has a nice vibe to it. Nothing much though. I would recommend to go there before heading put of town
It is super interesting to walk around this morning market... I love it
Really cute market!Had great fresh produce and a few funky items like insects, frogs and turtles. Some parts are not recommended for the faint hearted.
Such vivid place to visit. Bustling and full of life.
Morning market in Luang Prabang, good to discover local food such Sai oua or rice noodles. Also they have plenty of food that you can get as a gift.
Interesting market, containing mostly food, spices etc. as opposed to the night market that is more clothes and souvenirs focused.
Good to walk and shop in the morning, get a fresh vegetables, fruits and someMeat.Water up and be there before 10 am.
There are a lot of things to buyFishes, meat, beef, dessert and shop everything if you want in Laos
Morning walk local produce on the sidewalkMingle with localWonderful feeling
Well its another Asian market and a lot of the same products are sold by multiple vendors. Definitely they could do a better job on the layout.
Go there early around 5.30 AM and taste the local food. Peaceful marketplace with locals all around.
Great place to observe the locals people way of life in the early morning, buy ingredients for food preparations, buy souvenirs and try some of the very unique local food
Lots of local products, including veggies, fruits, meats, fish, coffee, honey... in 2019
Morning market, Luang Prabang has everything from food, herbs, teas, beef, pork, live chickens, ducks, occasionally bamboo rat, squirrels, clothing and more. Prices are very inexpensive. Try the deep fried bean cakes for a delicious treat.
Beautiful place and so peaceful. Id love to have my retirement here.
Interesting market to walk through. You can get the seaweed and banana snacks here as well as herbal tea. Able to haggle a little if you buy a few.Fresh produce, bugs, and meat are being sold here.
The morning market in Luang Prabang is a wonderful place to find interesting and authentic dishes, locally grown vegetables, and an abundance of snacks.
If youre short on time and missed the night market you can come here for some souvenirs but its mostly a local market. We went here for breakfast of rice noodle soup with pork for 15 000 (around 2 USD per bowl and some BBQ buffalo and pork hamburger (3 pattieswith sticky rice for 40 000 (around 5 USD). Soup was delicious!
A must see place in Luang Prabang. Morning market with local venders presenting their goods. Exotic, meats, birds, bugs, vegetables, fishes, plants. Market open early morning until 10:00am.
Nice, so congested, crowded, busy, but so fun and cheap
Interesting walk and shop experience in this historic town of temples, and lots of local food to try out. The fish is fresh and tastes amazing.

Morning market is another place to visit in the morning. You will see many things in there culture. Interesting!!
Love this Luang Prabang morning market as there are so many interesting local produce sold. Many grown here and brought from jungle eg some strange reddish / blackish tree barks etc.Very fresh fish and chicken sold ie livestock. Wild honey ...live maggots!!! And of course, there are very fresh fruits and vegetables, food stalls ...A great morning stroll at this lively market with much great sights!
We spent about an hour in this lovely small market. It stretches over several blocks and has a wonderful variety of food and other products. It was busy but not too crowded. The photo opportunities were excellent. We sampled a few food items and they were excellent and found small gifts for family members. Definitely worth a visit. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Really fun night market! Although not so big, they have a great variety of local products and souvenirs for tourists.
Interesting visit in the morning, and the market starts from 6 am till around 930 or 10 am, when it basically becomes a ghost town. This is where you can find spices, coffee powder and local fish and vegetables, besides the usual clothes and handwoven rugs etc.
Great place to go after morning alms, buy some fruit and get some breakfast.
Morning Market in the central of Luang Pra Bang, a place where you will see a local products, see local people lifestyles, see typical foods ingredient. Its a very unique way of life that you can rarely find in anywhere else and you shouldnt miss visiting the morning market when you are in Luangprabang
Very interesting experience looking at local food (and animals!sold in Laos.
If you want to find groceries or even merchandise, then this place is a good choice.
Varieties of wild life and food not available elsewhere
Located in the roads around Wat Mai Temple. Many locals go there in the morning after the Alms giving ceremony. If youre offered something to try, remember they eat that also so if you try it be kind and dont make a bad face if you dislike it. Ive tried one cake and then bought 6 😊 they were made from coconut, delicious. Ive tried the leaf and well it was honeycombs but with cooked baby bee, I didnt liked it but was selling like pancakes. They sell fruit, meat, fish, herbs etc
Definitely an experience! Lots of locals doing their shopping and also lots of tourists wandering. So many different kinds of vegetables (many which I couldn’t recognizeand animals, including snakes, bats, and rats. A bunch of people are selling bee larvae in honeycomb, wrapped in a banana leaf and then grilled. You can also find Luang Prabang sausage here.
Busy and lively morning market. Sells all sorts of products, from Lao produces to products. Please be mindful that a majority of the locals actually shop here and move along fast if youre only there to take photos 😅.
Lots of food here in the morningDon’t miss this place for your breakfast, souvenir, local food etc.
Pretty cool local matket with all kinds of food
Great place with lots of food, people are smiling. You can get few jewelers here, no clothes (only for local style ;)), herbs, teas, lots of fruits and ready foodThere is also two places which sell coffee and croissants for 5000kat and tastes good
First time ever in my travel life, I have been to such real authentic local market in which every product sold here is made in Laos by Laotian. The local people come here as well as the tourists. You can find super fresh home-planted veggies, some birds (for bbq), local noodles shop. Sometimes the smell and the image of dead animals will shock you but be calm and move on hehe
Definitely try the noodle soup sold by a lady in the middle of the market, really flavourful and tasty and also very pocket friendly.
Must try grilled honeycomb with bee larvae inside! Charcoal-grilled chunks of honeycomb with full of bee larvae. Each one wrapped in a banana leaf. Its taste like sweet corn. However, take caution when buying fried mung beans cake in the morning market. He was dishonest and return the change wrongly even we have video to prove it.
Lots of weird stuff and food here. Sometimes even the tourist is more than local
