Very tasty foods
Good
Very crowded the day before mothers day. There is a second floor. Food is great.
This place is worthy of 3.5 stars in my opinion. However, my principle is not to round up my ratings.Rating a restaurant or eatery is highly subjective as stated in my first such reviews several years ago. That said, I strive to be consistent with my own criteria.I visited this place in late Dec 2020 during dinner hours. It was very crowded and our party of four waited fifteen minutes or so for a table. Most popular Taipei restaurants require hours of wait time without a reservation. Our party might have been lucky or that could be an indicator of the popularity of this place. The oily rice was worth a special mention as it was better than those served in other restaurants that I have been to.The up side of this place is the dishes our party ordered that evening were pretty consistently decent with the exception of two, as shared further down in this review. The fish served that evening was clearly not as fresh as it could be and the cooking method did nothing to neutralize the unpleasant flavor so this particular dish deserved only one star. The oysters our party ordered were flavorless which was not necessarily bad if the ingredients were fresh. Unfortunately that wasnt the case.In summary, it is a place I would not object to revisiting although I would avoid dishes that require fresh ingredients.
This is by no means a fancy place, but the cooking was spot on --- fresh, flavorful, and balanced. Highly recommended.
Terribly expensive for the quality of the food. You can easily find better tasting taiwanese dishes elsewhere for half of the prices they have there. If you do happen to be there, don’t ask for recommendations because they will just push you to order the most expensive dishes. I’ll never go back.
It is hard to find a decent Taiwanese cuisine restaurant for 2 persons in Taipei. This is the right place for that. You can have 4 dishes including steam fish, roasted pork, stir fried vegetable, stewed cabbage, and a oyster soup that both fulfilled the needs of the variety of tastes and nutrients.
(just order with picsit’s local Taiwanese food. They don’t have a very fixed menu, but showing the pictures of fresh food in front of the kitchen (right next to the entrance). So you can be sure that the quality is pretty good. The price is just fair.
We had high expectations for this place because of the reviews but we were underwhelmed to say the least. I didnt find the quality to be there and was left disappointed. Prices are relatively high for the service as well! Personally would not recommend to any friend! I guess it is a place just for tourists.
the best local food we had in taiwan so far. Everything we ordered was good. Though didn’t like the tea thing.
We discovered this by chance, walking through the streets, we had two dishes and they were terrific. Im not sure of there English name but they tasted really good.
Great food
It was very interesting and not quite sure what to say about it. The food was good but it wasnt great. It was interesting and not horrible. So Ill let you guys decide for yourself. Its traditional Taiwanese food.
The food was interesting. We stopped for a bite and wanted to try some genuine Taiwanese food, the girl out front made some menu suggestions before seating us. Staff is friendly. A clean sit down place to cool off from the extreme summer heat. Again, the food was interesting, but the taste was not for my palette.
not bad, the steamed fish is sooooo delicious!
3.5 🌟, little disappointed.
GO AT YOUR OWN RISK - We were 5 adults and 2 children (Chinese speaking btw). The ladies taking the orders told us that all the dishes were very small so they kept encouraging us to order more. For 1 or 2 of the dishes, they even recommended we get a larger 1.5 size or it wouldn’t be enough to share. After we sat down and the food started coming, we were irritated because the dishes were all quite large, and we had clearly ordered WAY TOO MUCH food. Probably DOUBLE what we needed. The worst part - the bill was almost $4000 NT. WTH-Din Tai Fung was cheaper! We looked at her order sheet and they had sized up and priced up many of the dishes to 1.5x. When we called them out on it, they didn’t even try to pretend it was an accident, just offered to take 50 NT off to make us go away. This is obviously their usual M.O. Maybe you’d say we were stupid to trust them, but why support a business that doesn’t respect their diners?
The chicken is soft and the shrimp fried with salted egg was also tasty. Be careful of the food price, better ask them first when order. The food price is not include service charge 10%
Food was pretty good. Staff try to recommend expensive items without prices listed. Much overpriced overall especially for some items but some are decently priced.
Good food
Very tasty local Taiwanes cuisine!!
Very delicious food. The spring onion dish was so good. I heard people said Taiwan grow good spring onion but now that I tried it, I can truly say it is the best.
Traditional Taiwanese (Yilancuisine, clean area, delicious dishes.
Cheap, good food. Food here is from Yilan, an eastern region of Taiwan. I love bringing my out of town friends here
Interesting option of food as we got to try Yilan style cooking without the need to travel to Yilan. Loads of food choices. Free refill of Chinese tea. Was politely asked to leave after our meal as we sat too long. :(
Great eating
My favorite Taiwanese restaurant that serves I-Lang regional cuisine in Taipei.
Delicious bamboo shoots, amazing chicken with one of the best sauces that I have tried, and good tofu. A must order is also the rice with beef inside. Id highly recommend getting the chicken purely for the dipping sauce. Likely the best spicy dipping sauce Ive ever eaten.Would return to this lovely gem again.
Yi-Lang local style food. Delicious.
Went to this place about a month ago. After we ordered the dishes, we asked for the rice. The guy told us that they have two types of rices. We thought these are the only two types available. After we got our food, we saw someone else has the simple steam rice. Its a terrible feeling as being tricked into making some stupid choices.Other than this, the food is only so so. There are many better choices in the area as well as in Taipei. I wouldnt recommend this place.
A place to go for Taiwan Yilan cuisine. Love the pig liver and fried sticky rice with dried Sakura shrimp. I always come whenever I am at Taipei!
The food was really good and special
I think this restaurant is not a good choice, the staff will recommend you many food and you can’t eat over and make lots of money from you.
ok
Hard sale. bad service. worst experience ever.
食物好吃,服務也不錯👍,服務員可以幫忙介紹點菜。delicious Taiwanese food featuring Yilan flavors, offers some unique dishes. Fast service and the staff there can help you decide what to order.
My wife and I are ABCs and stumbled on this place from a post on the hungryintaipei blog. We were blown away by a couple things.1. Attention to detail. We arrived just as it opened and witnessed an employee roll out a floor mat, taking significant time to make sure it was perfectly aligned. He then wiped some steam condensation off of a bunch of windows more than once during our wait for food so customers could better see the food. This sort of attention to detail is rarely seen in tucked away Mom and pop shops (much less in America...and I appreciate this sort of meticulousness.2. Customer service. The waitress took our order of lu rou fan and some veggie dish but mentioned that there was a min order per guest to dine in. Since we didnt hit it, I just said we would take out, no big deal. She apologized and said we could sit while we waited. She then brought over some of their house tea which is made from kumquats (very goodand gave us samples of their preserved kumquats to taste. We didnt ask for this but were very happy with her hospitality. We also witnessed another young family come in. Normally you order up front and then get seated but the same waitress said they could get seated first since they had young kids. This sort of customer care was very reassuring to see.3. Food was good. Lu rou fan portion was a bit small but everything was tasty enough. Prices seemed a little higher than what weve been paying for other similar restaurants but nothing that I could really complain about. All in all, it was a great experience. Picture menu made ordering easy and our waitress could speak English.
The food is very nice, but a little bit pricy...
A fare restaurant for local food, if other restaurant are all occupied.
Food was good, atmosphere crowded and bustling. Service fast to point of rushed. Staff overworked to point of thinly veiled hostility. Had a group of about 8 adults seated upstairs. They fired dishes so fast that we could fit them on the table and the staff just yelled buhaoyisi!!! To where it sounded like something else. Servers were testy about every request. So while the food was actually excellent, the rest spoiled it for me, and i usually dont care. And i wasnt even paying so, be forewarned. Try to go in a small group or get drunk first.
Very good Taiwanese food blend with some new fashion. Taste with style.
You will be greeted by a receptionist once u enter the restaurant, where u have to order everything before sitting down. I felt like the receptionist was urging me to order as much as possible...otherwise, the food was great and the atmosphere was nice as wellNote: the fish is a little pricey. Plz ask before ordering
Good but a bit pricy for the fare
Nice food in affordable price. However the place is small and very crowded.
Place has a good selection of tasty Taiwanese small dishes which can get a little pricey if you order their fish. Avoid the fried pork.
Not bad. But nothing special.
Pretty good Taiwanese Yilan food. An alternative to the ever crazy Q at Ding Tai Fung at the main street. The Yam Paste we had is quite good in my opinion. Worth a try.
the duck intestines and sliced cold chicken were the best dishes. wouldnt order the red rice wine pork, sashimi plate, or fried shrimp balls again
