Lowry Campground - Campground in Dillon, United States
This campground is great. The host is very nice and helpful. Its far enough out of town to feel "woodsy" yet close enough to where you can run to the store quickly if needed.
Nice tent camping, beautiful view, friendly host.
Camp host is super cool.
Great tent site if you don’t mind RV neighbors. We had site 19 which offered a nice view. Toilets were always kept clean. Only disappointment was that there was no spigot water available at the time and we didn’t know ahead of time. Great location in Dillon in proximity to cool outdoor fun options. Would come again.
Charged us an additional $21 because we didnt have our car hooked up and towed into the campground. Over $100 for 3 nights with no hookups or scenic view.
Friendly host. Fantastic views. Electric but no water. We had an event in Breckenridge and the campground is less than a 15 drive
Beautiful spot with unbelievable night sky.
I hate to give this a 2 but we are in a 30 ft RV at campsite 17. There is no space between 17 and 18 which makes it great for a group site but as a solo RV camper there is no room for our pickup on the site without blocking the road or site 18. I just wish there had been better descriptions so we could have prepared as we need the truck by the RV. We will likely have to cut our stay short. I think other sites would warrant a different rating but 17 is the worst for an RV that is longer than 28 feet
Nice and very quite camp ground. Close to lakes and is remote but close to town.
Camp host Kurt was very nice! Cleanest vaults in the US! Beautiful location and close to some good hikes.
No dump station, very tight spaces, nice view of expensive houses, weird set up, electric only, several water pumps. Shotguns heard close to the campground, then police sirens, welcome to Colo. Lots of rocks and spaces for kids to play but just good for 1 night.
Beatiful views, quiet, close to town and A-Basin. Campground host was very nice. Not a lot of shade, but they have a lot of baby trees growing up now.
Great loc in Dillon near Breck and Frisco CO. Stunning views!!
Had a great experience at this campground. The groundskeeper was nice and always helpful. Great and clean facility. The restrooms were the cleanest I have ever seen at any campground I have been to. Definitely recommend Lowry Campground for your next outdoor adventure.
Our spot was double booked and the host was "off duty" for our while stay so we had to work it out ourselves. Our Site was #12 and for a tent is the best spot in the whole place, very lush and private. The rest of the campground is kind of like an open parking lot. Great location to town and the lake though
THERE IS A HIDDEN FEE FOR ANY EXTRA CARS YOU BRING!First let me start with the pros, 1: The bathrooms are very clean, some of the cleanest nonflushing toilets Ive had at a camp sight. Thats honestly about the only pro i have. As far as the hidden car fee on there website when you check out you can add extra cars for no cost but as soon as we got to the campsite this dude comes out of nowhere asking for cash for our one extra car (sketchso we had to pay in order to stay. We then call there help number form the website we booked from. They lady who works for the national forest service mind you looks up our reservation via our confirmation number and tells us there should be no extra fee for an extra car, and says to us if we have a problem with this very rude camp dude to have him call there help desk. The next day Rude camp dude proceeds to yell at us and tell us that the national forest gov lady has no idea what she is talking about and refuses to call them or fix there website!!! He then trys to intimidate us into paying the fee. Luckily we were able to talk with his supervisor who finally level headily was able to show us how 5 pages deep on there web sight in very fine print it talks about the $7 a day fee for an extra car. He was the only one who was able to explain in a calm manner why we had to pay. I commend him in his customer service but the other old guy needs to go. HE THEN FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK HARASSED OUR CAMPSIGHT! By singling us out for anything he could try and hassle our camp for. Other then that the camp sight is awful for tents the ground is only made of rocks every where. The sights are as close as possible, so there is no privacy you can hear the whole camp sight because every on is so close. There is no shade and all of the sights are slanted. If your in an RV it doesnt much matter, but if you have a tent please stay somewhere else. I was very disappointed on how we were treated at this sight and I hope they learn to be a bit kinder to others and PLEASE FIX YOUR SIGHT OR SEND OUT A SIMPLE EMAIL IF YOU SEE THAT THEY HAVE MORE THEN ONE CAR!!!!!
Easy to get to, beautiful view, clean vault toilet. I wish there were showers. Friendly camp host.
Excellent campground, a little further from the lake than I expected(not walking distance).Sturdy fire pits, picnic tables, clean restrooms, very little litter. They sell additional car spots for $7 each and bundled firewood for $7(cash). Camp host was friendly and respectfully attentive.Ground was rocky but there was room for 3 tents on level spots no problem.
They charge extra for a second car and there is no place to park that second car 😩Clean RestroomsNice place, but spot 11 has an electric transformer right at the parking space
Great and clean campground centrally located to a lot of trails
This campground is in an ideal location that is equally close to Dillon, Frisco, or Breckenridge. Its clean and campsites are spacious. Only thing is there arent any trees yet (lots of baby treesbut the view is great in any direction.
Greeted promptly by the friendly host. Took tent spot #1, no electricity. Loving our first time here. Quiet, and comfy, with a 360° amazing view. Well be back!
Surroundings are beautiful while campground itself is... not. No water hookups. But some lots have electric. Public bathrooms dont have showers; only have pit toilets with no sinks. We reserved a spot for a 30ft camper, but it was super tight. We thought there had been a mistake, so we went up to the host trailer. The guy wouldnt open the door and yelled thru it that it was his day off. We said we only have one question. He said, Youll just have to make it work. ~ words to that effect.
Nice view and clean restrooms, its near several trails, but theres no shower place and camp ground is a bit small, sites are close to each other.
We showed up to this campsite looking for "first come, first serve" campsites. There was a sign out front that said "Camp Full," just as the few other sites we stopped by beforehand. I ran up to the Office to ask if they knew of anywhere we could pitch a tent in the area for the night since everything appeared to be full, and the woman there said they had some overflow camping we could stay in, so we paid full price and pitched our tent.At 9PM that evening, we noticed a site that was still open and asked the camp host about the possibility of moving to that site so that we could have a fire to cook on, and a table to eat at. He said, "that was the case, that this site was open, when you arrived, but the manager has you in overflow. You cant move."While it was nice for them to be somewhat accommodating, Im still not sure why that site sat open all night when we paid full price, yet had to sleep in overflow. The area was nice, but it seemed that there was either some kind of miscommunication, or the staff was just being flat-out careless about our experience.
The only plus is the 30 amp service. No shade, rocky sites that are no where near level. It’s a dust bowl too. My encounter with the campground host (Steve), was not good. Zero personality, and could care less if you’re here or not. I’ve had much better experiences at other parks.
Camp sites were easy to access. Bathrooms were clean. Due to the intimate size of this campsite, have a back up plan in case it is full. Very popular place.
Laid back, fair priced, great central location to tons of trails. I loved it there. I will be going back.
The views were just amazing. Only a 15-20 minute drive to town of you needed to run down for something, seconds away from a bunch of trails. The host was very nice and cheerful. They had drinking water and vault toilets. Despite the vault toilets, the bathrooms were nice. Kept very clean and well-maintained. I recommend this campground and would definitely camp here again!
Quiet campground with nice views. The overall sites sizes are big but the actual rv pads can be smaller and tight to get into. They ring the pad with large rocks which can be hard to navigate. The pit toilets are ok and stocked. Water spigots were conveniently located and each site had electric. We found a dump station at the sanitation building at the corner of Swan Mountain and RT9 for $5.
Great camping clean restrooms sAwesome camp host. The best for last is 360° views.
Tight camper spots and lots of rocks. It is 1 one way around the loop, but back in spots can be challenging....to say the least
Location & views are awesome. Sites & facilities very clean. Camp host Elmer most helpful.🤩👍
The care takers were extremely helpful and nice! It was a beautiful spot and we will be returning.
Had a good time with my family this last summer. Wish this place had more trees
Nice clean place but sites are close together. Surprisingly its not too noisy.
Kinda sucks. No trees and spaces are very close together. Back in the day when there wasnt beetle kill, Ill bet this campground was amazing but not today unfortunately
Small sites, but very pretty views and clean!
Vault toilets but very clean. Carry water from the spigot. Hike in tent sites.Great views. Great location. Great campground caretakers.
A very nice campground for families of all sizes.
Fair electric-only campground with water access in a few areas. They shut the water off at night for some reason, which would have been nice to know. Camp host was cordial, but his wife was aggressive and rude when there was confusion about our access pass (local ranger district said it was accepted, concession policy said it was not). A rep from the concession company came over from the brown portable building in the front to clarify, but basically just wanted to argue while the wife jumped in with snarky comments. RV sites were overgrown and not well defined. Our site only had 30 amp hookups, but website said 50 amp. Total with electric only was $28 per night. Neighbors were nice and the view was good as long as the trashy looking buildings at the front were obscured by other trailers. The road in was washboard and needs to be better maintained. Noticed the same at neighboring Prospector campground managed by the same California-based company.
Nice campground with electrical hookups. Some sites are very close together and the view of the lake is obstructed by a hill. Dump station is a few miles away and costs $5 per use.
First one to check in for the season. Got the best spot. Views are amazing. Bathrooms were clean. Campground manager was friendly
This campsite was very beautiful right inside the mountain. The view was spectacular! It has electric hookup, a fire pit, grill and picnic table. Only downside was there was no water (Im guessing because its in the mountain and gets really cold).
Awesome place to stay, the are very quiet, beautiful, friendly, helpful, clean, and accommodating when possible.. I definitely will he staying there again.
Super cool look out for smoke the bar lol
Clean and flat campsites, sparse cover.Tucked out of the way off Swan Mountain Road, Lowry offers a nice and clean campground with friendly hosts and guests. Views are good, but lacking visibility of Dillon Lake. Tree cover is sparse to non existent but gravel campsites are flat and comfortable, if closely spaced.Avoid sites adjacent to the restrooms if possible as gentle breezes may waft their odors and kill a good buzz.
Great place to camp camp host is awesome
The camp ground is nice but the park attendants dont in force the speed inside the park, we were being dusted bad by excessive speed. The roads are all dirt, they should make it clear that high speed wont tolerated.
Great camp host, very clean restrooms and camp sites. Having the electric hook ups was a added bonus. To bad there isnt much shade. Very little trees and the wind was horrible at times. Seen more than a few canopys down. Close to town for activities.
