Lower Zambezi National Park - National park in Nyimba, Zambia
Viewed elephants, Kudus and also appreciated the efforts by BCP
The best weekend excursion. Lower Zambezi is the best kept secret.
Good place to be especially if you have an off-road personal car to explore
We loved the drive through Lower Zambezi, starting with a lion viewing and then more elephants than you could imagine along with all the other animals up close and personal. After a fun cruise up the Zambezi and back to Baines River camp, we couldnt have had a better day.
It was fun I eReally enjoyed
This is a very wonderful place where one has to visit and relax in the comfort of nature
The area was good and journey enjoyed
It was a very refreshing environment. Going back.
Awesomely beautiful place.
If you want to feel at one with nature come spend time in any Zambian National Park. Lower Zambezi National Park is a magical place. Abundant with animals such as elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, crocodiles and hippos you won’t go wrong if you make the correct decision to visit. There are numerous 5* all-inclusive lodges and camps inside the park and outside in the Game Management Area. Do not hesitate in visiting this beautiful park, and amazing country.
The best parks to visit on vacations
Best season for visit
Awesome experience @Lolebezi
Was a quick trip and didnt see much
Its a good place and I like it
I really enjoyed watching safari park & bow painting
This is the third different National park in Zambia we have had safaris in. I would say it is a close second to South Luangwa for wild life sightings, loosing out because their are no Giraffes. However on the plus side it is quieter as their isnt as many vehicles roaming the area. We saw everything available including great close encounters with Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Hippos etc. If you like fishing its a great place to catch Tiger fish whilst boating on the Zambezi River as well as watching great sunsets.
St Lukes
Its a beautiful place, nature speak for itself..
I Loved Watching the giant African Elephant & other sort of Animal like the Beautiful Zebra, Antelope, Hippopotamus, Buffaloes etc
Its a very good place to view nature
Untainted and amazing part of Zambia. Unfortunately this time we couldn’t see many animals, but just the scenic park. We did a self drive from Kiambi. Big mistake. Took us about 2.5 hours to cover a distance of approximately 70km to the Chongwe gate. The road is only for 4X4. Next time will opt for Game drive offered by lodge, or better yet, use a canoe to got through the park. You will need at least one full day to appreciate this reserve
Lower Zambezi is one of Zambias top wildlife sanctuary- a National Game Park with biodiversity and pristine experience for safari tourism, offering Zambias top market nature tourism product along the mighty Zambezi River.
This is one of Zambias 🇿🇲 hidden gems of tourism. Unspoilt natural forests, paths created only be wildlife. A destination worth adding to your bucket list.
About a month ive been game driving in this magnific wildlife. Natures so perfect, this is juste a paradise along the zambezi river🤩🤩😍✌✌
Thats how lower Zambezi national Park is good it makes smile for visiting people
The experience of the safari in the park was amazing.....The best is to enjoy the sunset in the middle of the bush with all the wild animals along with some sundown tea and snacks.
The park gently slopes from the Zambezi Escarpment down to the river, straddling two main woodland savannah ecoregions distinguished by the dominant types of tree, Miombo and Mopane: Southern Miombo woodlands on higher ground in the north, and Zambezian and Mopane woodlands on lower slopes in the south. At the edge of the river is floodplain habitat. The park itself is ringed by a much larger game management area (commonly referred to as GMA); there are no fences between the park and the GMA and both animals and people are free to roam across the whole area. The attraction of the Lower Zambezi park and its surrounding GMA is its remote location. Unlike South African parks, there are no paved roads and you are very unlikely to encounter another tourist whilst traveling around. Tourist numbers are minimized due to the park being inaccessible by road, unless one has advanced 4x4 driving skills and even then only at certain times of the year. Tourists visit the park either on a boat on the Zambezi or by light aircraft flying from either Livingstone or Lusaka. Most large mammals in the national park congregate on the floodplain, including the Cape buffalo, a large elephant population, lion, leopard, many antelope species, crocodile and hippopotamus. Occasional sightings of the Cape wild dog occur throughout this park which is one of Zambias best strongholds for them. There are also a large number of species of birds, but no black rhinoceros population remained around the time the national park was declared, in 1983.
Hi friends out there I would like to share my experience of this place its quite amazing place to stay more especially on photographers you can enjoy it so much like on big games like lions leopards elephants buffalos and many more I can advise you to visit anabezi luxury tented camp if you like to enjoy your trip thanks
Beautiful. Unspoiled wilderness.
It is the draw-card of Lower Zambezi: the remoteness of this eastern part of Zambia. The Lower Zambezi National Park, founded in 1983, covers an area of 4,092 square kilometers along the northwestern bank of the Zambezi River. Step on board on a boat or drift silently pass the riverbank in a canoe for the best wildlife viewing, since most wildlife is concentrated around the Lower Zambezi Valley and the river. Elephant herds, sometimes up to one hundred strong, hippo, leopard, lion, buffalo, over 400 bird species – they all gather in this mesmerizing wilderness.
Prolific wildlife alongside the wide basin of the Zambezi. This setting is unique and another world.
Is the best place and very beautiful too
Nice park with a great variety of animals
Simply the very best place to go on safari. More people should go I had the place to my self Inc the lodge only seeing 2 other tourists in 3 days.
One of the best National parks maintained in Zambia Africa. There are other National parks as well like Kafue national park but this park is protected by conservation society which runs on NGO. They are doing a wonderful job in protecting the animals and in turn tourist like us can enjoy with these friendly animals without fear of getting attacked. Ofcos you may need to maintain distance. Some advices... If your driving from Lusaka its a must to take a 4×4 car. We got stuck twice as we had taken a salon. The roads from the entrance of the park to the main gates sre totally off road and needs a heavy vehicle. Pls be prepared with water , food, some basic medicine, cloths torches and ofcos most important jungle shoes. Its better to book a resort and go so they can tske you to game drive for wildlife site seeing or canoing site seeing where you can enjoy hippos. The beauty is you can see the Zimbabwe border just across the river. This is definitely a 2 night and 3 day trip so dont try to squeeze in 1 day. Not worth it. Animals are friendly and you can expect them to come around your camp at night. They dont disturb at all . Food is taken care of resort as you wont find a single shop for food or drinks so be well prepared before you head out. The drive from Lusaka to the park is about 5 hrs roughly.

Nice place to reflect and see nature
Amazing amazing amazing. What an incredible place. We stayed at Chongwe River camp which is a luxury private tented camp in the banks of the Zambezi River. We had a private camp within the camp with our own chef and guide away from other guests. The good was wholesome (not amazing but good7/10. Game drives and boat trips were great. Elephants galore. Wild dogs, leopards, lions, baboons galore, etc etc. Unfortunately there are tetze fly (bad for me as I swell up badly when bitten), but its just one of the most incredible places Ive been on safari. Sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. All in all I highly recommend to go there
Lots Of Animals in the park and around park. specially African size is you can easily make difference. From Lusaka we travel but challenge was information with actual experience and suggestion was not available. Ours was last minute decision so no advance planning. So we make quick round around the National park.Suggestion is you need to book 1 camp site where you stay over night and then enjoy early morning or late evening visit.if no advance notice then food preparation for local can be challenge.
Great Sighting! Luangwa River, home of the mighty African Hippopotamus.
One of the worlds best wild life reserve, where we can find lions, hippopotamus, Rhinos, Elephants, crocodile, deers, Zebra and many other wild species. The animals are not used with the human visits frequent here, hence they will be bit wild, have to be more care travelling inside. There is no defined route inside the forest, one should be careful understanding the path crosses. Very good experience.
This area was fantastic. So lots of leopards! The fishing on the river was great! Such a beautiful part of Zambia.
We stayed at Chiawa Camp; we had an unforgettable experience. The camp staff is very friendly and professional. We highly recommend this accommodation.
The wildlife is fantastic. Very big elephants here roaming around. The meeting of the 2 rivers is a nice site to see; the muddy waters of the Luangwa meeting the colourless waters of the Zambezi! You see how they dilute each other creating a milky color before fading away as the waters combine their energies heading towards the Indian Ocean...
Sprinkling of a friends ashes in the Zambezi river
Awesome place friendly people though very hot
Best gameviewing in Southern Africa
