Panoramic mountaintop, home to the mausoleum of Montenegrin leader & poet Petar II Petrovic Njegos.
They charge 2e to enter the mausoleum peak, 5 euros to enter the mausoleum and then the audacity to charge you for the bathroom. Embarrassing.
Get ready to see more than one country by just going 450 stairs up. This peculiar mausoleo has a beautiful main door that will lead you to a corridor where you can go outside and have impressive views. This mausoleo is inside of a Natural park (access to the park is 2€ per personand añypu will pay 5€ per person to do your 450 stairs, it sounds harder that it is but the views totally worth it.
Best view ever
Great views, not too overcrowded and you also have the chance to slip into traditional clorhings for 10€ or so... Which makes quite an unusual family picture ;)
400+ stairs. Most beautiful mountain view. You can see Budva, Lake Skadar and Kotor from this site (if skies were clear). Take a deep breath and enjoy the climb🏔
Very beautiful place with one of the best views. Come prepared to walk up over 400 stairs
Nice, clean location.cca 500 stairs to top.
Breathtaking view. Worth every step up.
We went on Saturday and the tourist information center was closed. Therefore, we were not able to get information or a map of the hiking trails anywhere. On the spot, it was also not clear whether a trail goes nearby or not. Similarly, searching the internet did not help.
Great views. Can have a bit info about the history and Njegoš
The road to the top is amazing, theres a long train usually for one car 🚗 only, the turns are shared and you need to drive carefully, when you reach the top get ready for 461 stairs to walk to, the price for entrance the park is 5€ for person and to go up the stairs to see the amazing view and the muslim is another 5€, park wherever you find a spot and enjoy the view 😍. There is a nice traditional restaurant to make a break and get some food and drinks.
Lovely park in Montenegro. Went with a group of 28.The wildlife and flora were lovely to see. Would recommend if youre staying in Hercig Novi.
Beautiful national park, largely untouched, we didn’t pass anyone on our walk from Ivanova Korita until we reached the Njegoš mausoleum (which was quite busy but not overly)
Beautiful park with beautiful scenery of kotor and cetinje. To enter the upper part it cost 2€ per person as a small fee for keeping it clean, it’s definitely worth it!Everyone was friendly and just amazing views. Little difficult to drive, but it’s manageable!
Really amazing experience with beautiful Mountain View and great mausoleum with very unique sculptures.
Nice views once up top but there isnt much to do other than walk up and walk down... especially if its cloudy on the day you go. Wear good shoes when you go there because it is a HIKE all the way up. If you think youre in shape you probably will realize you arent once you take this walk 😂.
Easy to get there by any car, road sometimes narrow but in superb condition. Just drive slow, and avoid racing as is not recommended falling down from the mountain. Getting to the top took me around 35 min from Tivat. Beautiful restaurant on the top, the Mausoleum and view are great! Entrance to National park 2€ person, Mausoleum 5€. If you visit Montenegro make sure to book one day to visit this place you wont regret it!
Very beautiful scenery. If the roads are icy, one should drive slowly.
Nice national park, view is beautiful. You need pay entrance fee for the highest fort for 5 Euro.
Wonderful place to visit. Little problem in parking, you will need to park your car on the way to Lovcen, maybe 40-100 meters before the start point where you going to climb steirs
Stunning views at the top! 🤩 crazy ride to get there, almost lost the side mirrors of the car a couple times because of the narrow roads to the top. But it’s quite an adventure with all the hairpin curves and views. After parking at the top, take the last bit of a walk to the mausoleum, it’s worth it for the best view over the park!
Amazing, breath taking. A view on top of the world.
We entered with the car for which we paid 2 euro per person-only cash. The road is good maiden, but still be careful! Worth the mausoleum in the end.
spectacular view..lovely ride up to the mountainsKotor Bay and airport view between the mountains
Stunning national park should be on the bucket list to visit it! Amazing forest air and beautiful views you can enjoy driving to the park. The road is very narrow so more comfortable to drive with small cars or even go with bikes.
An amazing view from the Mausoleum of the mountains and of the sea. I made wonderful pictures. But be careful if you go hiking in the mountains. The way through the mountains is dangerous. Today (middle of JanuaryI nearly reached the Mausoleum following a hiking path, when I slipped on the ice on a narrow road and was hardly holding to anything and gradually sliding down. I cried for help, was heard by the Mausoleum staff and was miraculously saved by the parks rescue team officer Igor Kokotovic. Igor, thanks... Dmitry. P.S.: I hope that the parks authorities will take care of the hiking paths because it is really dangerous...
I love the design of this monument, and the view isn’t bad either!! The parking is nothing short of insane though. There are like maybe spots for ten cars, and when we were there, there were about 100 cars trying to squeeze up and down the narrowest one-way street. Good luck!! There are bathrooms you have to pay a few coins to use but they’re very clean and nice.
It was worthy the detour! For those who drive there, it’s quite hard to park around there, loads of people, very narrow but not dangerous as such. Not a great driver myself, i managed ok so I recommend to do it. The walk up there is nice too and doesn’t require huge physical strength.
Love Lovcen! beautiful, clean, green, lovely. We hiked on gorgeous trail, ups and downs and around. Saw amazing poisonous mushrooms
The most beautiful place in Montenegro! From that place you can see whole Montenegro.
Beautiful park, beautiful mountain with monument on top. Monument is for president that ruled Montenegro for period in 19th century. Monument is one of a kind, with spectacular view (on sunny clear day, with binocular it is possible to see Italy). It is also one of the best Ivan Meštrović statue.
Just stunning. Highest spot I have ever been. What a fantastic burial for what the tour guide reference to as a great king. Once you arrive its then around 100 steps to the top. The views are just amazing. Difficult for the photos to do justice.
One of my favourite places to come again and again. So much to see and do. Do not miss climbing to the top of the mountain for the view point which is hidden behind the Mosaleum at the top - does require some small change to enter. It’s worth it!Highly recommend biking or quad biking around the park to really see all the view.Cafes serve excellent food but one restaurants stands out. Look for the whole table cloths. The president dukes there at least once a month during the season.
Beautiful nature and great panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. Njegos mausoleum is also worthwhile to visit...two cariotide at the entrance before youll see magnificent sculpture in black marble under the mosaic ceiling made out of golden pieces. In the basement youll find thomb of Njegos
It doesnt have much in it. Just a few statues. 5€ was a lot to get in for how little there wasI did like the restaurant though, also there was pretty views.
Very beautiful. 2 euro Per person for entering the area. 5 euro entrance to monument. Worth it!
Very cool mountain, good view to all sides. Mausoleum at the top was a bit small for having a separate entry price.
The paths here are very complicated to follow and we got slightly lost (for British tourists). But the views are insane, also the walks are very nice with pine trees towering over you. Also the monument at the top is interesting and gives you a good idea of Montenegrin history. And the view from up there is beyond imagination, you can see lake skadar one side and kotor bay the other.
Amazing view, very high up so the birds fly lower then you stand. Nice to take a powernap up there after long climbing :D take warm clothing, if there is wind it’s cold. Also if you wanna sit and hang out then take math to sit on cause it’s rocky :)
Extraordinary experience. Strongly recommended. Wonderful sights from the top of the mountain.n
Fantastic place, great views are everywhere! Curvy roads. Entrance to park is free, however you should pay 2eur/person to enter road to mausoleum. Mausoleum itself cost 5 eur/person. WC in mausoleums souvenirs shop cost 1 eur/person
Rather tiresome to get(due to those 26 drastic turns), but the whole experience is worth it. The view is breathtaking, hardly describable. We visited the National Park last September, I believe thats the perfect time for so many obvious reasons.
The way to get to the mausoleum sited in the park is wonderful. You can see Black, purple and white stones landscapes, typical from Montenegro
Very beautiful place with a lot of very nice sceneries. A really must seen in Montenegro. Also a recommendation is to visit the restaurant near the Mausuleum. Breathtaking unforgettable moment to be there. The ride there is already a beautiful experience in itself. The view at the mausoleum is breathtaking. Moreover, the tomb and monument are very special sights. Parking is free, entrance 3 euros.
The view was amazing. 5/5The history of the place was very interesting to listen to (I wont spoil it for You), although a bit long. 4/5The road to it was a bit dangerous but also very fun to drive on. 3/5The air was very clean because of the altitude it is located on. 5/5To get up to the main attraction you need to climb up 500+ stairs (more or lessso it could serve as Your daily exercise! 4/5At the bottom of the stairs there is located a restaurant (Toilet included!and a souvenir shop. 5/5Conclusion 4/5
Amazing views from top. Worth of driving up even the roads are very good. Eat lunch or dinner at the restaurant , you’ll enjoy fiod and views !
Beautiful natural park, moderate entrance fee, roads between Lovcen and Kotor is quite unsafety
The drive way from Kotor/Skaljari is really adventurous, breathtaking and of course i was so excited to experience a dangerous road like this, the roads mostly are one lane and zigzaging all the way to the top and it is called "Kotor Serpentine", each zigzag turn is numbered and they are 25, no words can describe the beautiful view of kotor bay and tivat airport and even the Adriatic sea coast line of Montenegro, cant wait to try that again!
We visited the Njegos Mausoleum here. A truly unique place set on top of a mountain with sweeping views over the Adriatic, the mountains of Montenegro and even a little bit of Kotor Bay.
Spectacular view from the entrance. Very cold and windy in late autumn (Octoberand temperature was around 4°c, much to the dismay of the uninformed an unprepared who went up in casual clothing meant for a temperature of around 17°c at the lowland coastal region. There were 461 steps up to the mausoleum of Montenegro’s greatest hero, Petar Petrović Njegoš (built 1970 to 1974 at the top of Montenegros second-highest peak, Jezerski Vrh [1657m]where you can take beautiful photos on a clear day. The drive along the national park is scenic, passing by remote villages and isolated restaurants with home made cheese, ham and sandwiches served with a cup of hot coffee at very reasonable prices.
