I had a surprise dinner for my mothers 87th birthday and they made it so easy and special. Dinner for nine was well done with great service. All the staff made it memorable and our meals were great. I highly recommend this as a gathering place for celebration.

If you come, bring an empty stomach. Between bread and butter, salad, soup, beans, "first course" (ours was chicken), French fries, your chosen entree and dessert, theres no way to leave hungry. The food overall is quite good, served family style. We were sat at a long table with two other parties - good way to get to know some new people.

This restaurant offers a family style setting, meaning you will sit along side people you have never met before and can be a negative experience with unacceptable behaviors. The food was home made but not of great technical chef skills. I would not recommend this restaurant more than once.

A friend dragged my into this place for dinner on Friday night and I absolutely loved it! Great atmosphere, friendly service, very fair prices! The foos is served family style and the standard meal includes soup, salad, beans, fries, chicken a desert and wine. If that is not enough, you can add an entre from the menu. I had the lamb shanks and they were great. The Picon Punch is a "must try"! I enjoyed this restaurant so much, I dragged another friend back the next day

Definitely a Gem of a restaurant in Reno, been around since 1967 and there is good reason. Reserve ahead or might get some seats at the bar where the friendly staff will help you choose a delicious meal. The outside seemed a bit sketchy but once inside we thoroughly enjoyed the drinks and meal.

I have been to a few Basque food restaurants mostly in Bakersfield, CA and they have always been excellent. I was disappointed at this one. The staff was friendly and attentive, and a couple of the courses were good, and the rest was adequete. The beef and barley soup was good and a good start. The beans were ok and was served with a bland salad, the house wine was decent. The New York steak was ordered medium rare and came out medium well at best. The guy next to me had the same thing so we decided to make the server aware. The server said that is how their steaks come out and did not offer to recook them. For $42 I expected a lot more. The wife had the ox tail and it was very greasy, but good.

Only the German food place is as good as this Basque place, where the food just does not stop coming. While it may like culinary sophistication Louis is wonderful fare, wholesome and of such friendly service as to warrant its status as a Reno institution. Family style rocks -- forget the pretense of others, go for the fun and the best!

Never tried Basque food before, its good! Tons in the portions, all the courses represented, entrées are meat based. I had tongue which was never cooked so well as here, tender like short ribs but milder, Basque "gravy" is great. You cant eat it all, plus house wine is decent. Not fancy but you will have an experience worth trying.

My parents were visiting, so I had to share a Louis experience. My father and I have been to Basque country. I instantly loved this place after my first visit. Very authentic, all the way down to the community tables/meals. Warms my heart. So you can imagine my excitement when my parents rolled to town. We had the best meal, the best time, and a ton of laughs. We got lamb chops, leg of lamb, oxtail, and sweet bread. The sweetbread is my favorite! Every course was per usual, outstanding. Ive had the world famous Picon Punch, they are strong, not my favorite but delicious all the same. If you havent experienced Louis stop wasting your life eating dinner somewhere else.

I was in Reno for an event but I remembered that this place was on my list of Basque places to check out in the west. This place did not disappoint. The lunch portions are good and the atmosphere is local and friendly. The highlight was definitely the Picon punch which is the perfect aperitif-dry, bitter and refreshing! Not sweet at all, which is good in my book. If you have Basque roots, like I do, you’ll want to check it out for the historical and heritage elements. Even if you’re not Basque, you should still check it out! Also try the kalimotxo (best one I’ve had since my days in the Basque Countryand the winnemucca coffee, which packs a strong, black licorice infused tasty punch.

The reality is that, although this is a Basque restaurant, its not a Bakersfield Basque restaurant. I have been spoiled by the family style Basque served in my local restaurants. That being said, the food a Louis was prepared well and served hot. The service was great, the waiter was able to keep up with six people all with different priorities. We did not go away hungry.

Come hungry and ready for a communal experience, leave full and happy. Friendly and helpful service, and a fun experience overall! Ordered the non-entree meal option and still had a ton leftover. There were seven people in our group -- a few with special dietary requests (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian). The waitstaff and chef did a good job at informing the table of ingredients and trying to accommodate everyone.

great service, waitress, servers, really cool young adults, meal was good. We had a party of 10, reservations. The seating was upstairs, very quiet, no music, like eating in a closet. they overbooked, and stuck it to our party. We had a bill over $600.00. Not good Craig!!!!

Best meal in Reno!! We shared the family lunch with one entree between the two of us and it was perfect. If you’re super hungry, go for one entree per person! The staff is lovely and the vibe is great. Can’t wait to come back!

This place is really, really gross. The food quality is not good at all and it is extremely over priced. The salad they give everyone is old lettuce and smothered in vinaigrette and that was a total red flag for what was to come after that. They do serve french fries that seem like they are from a totally different restaurant and that was literally the only thing edible. The desert was a scoop of ice cream with chocolate syrup on it, go get a Frosty from Wendys because its more satisfying honestly. Overall it was so disappointing because I was expecting way better for being so expensive. Spent a lot of money for fries and white Russians by the end of the night. Staff wasnt the most pleasant to be around either.

More than generous portions served family style. The split pea soup was absolutely delicious, unlimited salad and fries.Bread and butter to start the meal.We ordered Oxtail and Sauteed Shrimp to share. The shrimp were nice and succulent, served in a wine sauce with capers and mushrooms, topped with parsley. The Oxtail was perfect, tender and flavorful.

I would definitely not recommended this place for food. I made reservations as recommended on maps and website, we showed up 15-20 min early and were greater by the host who in turn comments "oh good your early, then I can leave early" probably should have turned around then and there but decided to try it out. Its family style dining which we are accustomed to do thats no problem. Our waiter was very polite and helpful (the only positive experience we had besides leavinghe took out drink order as looked through the menu, the girls decided on steak I decided to try the oxtail. The meal started off with a salad which was brown red gross last weeks looking lettuce enough that I thought it had a vinegary dressing but it came with ranch on the side 🤢 so then on to the soup maybe it will be better.... Nope, they had ran out of there normal chorizo soup but they had a vegetable soup okay lets try it out, it was cold enough said about that. The main course came 2 streaks that we need a chainsaw to cut and oxtail soup that tasted like over cooked grease. I took way too long to write this review but enough said dont waste your time eating here. Its waaaay overpriced and bad. Really bad.

This place is 100% for the experience and not much else. The appetizer meals were very standard and nothing special. The entrees were a lot better, especially the oxtail and sirloin steak. The staff was friendly and helpful. A great place to come for a family style meal and get-together. Definitely a spot to check out if you are looking for the Basque experience.

You know, its all about the experience and we had a great time at our shared table! Our servers were awesome and I love the family style structure. On the other hand the entrees were really only sub par, an opinion shared with the rest of our table. I ordered the leg of lamb and it was more than half grizzled fat smothered in way too much, what I am assuming, gravy that came from a jar or can.Id go back but would stick to the dinner without the entree option.

Pecan Punch house specialty drink should be consumed in abundance. Prime rib and other meal courses are tasty and delicious. You are served by a team of staff that are attentive and accommodating. Excellent place to take your two Rock Star Employee’s to show your gratitude for their hard work and dedication to your company, well worth the price.

Came here for a special occasion with my partner expecting to have a great time, given all we heard were amazing things about this place. Apparently things have changed, as the service left something to be desired and the food was mediocre at best. The entire restaurant was empty yet we were sat next to the only other party in the restaurant. While understanding it is family style, from a COVID perspective as well as comfort, it would have been nice to sit at one of the smaller bar tables or sit at a separate table. Sharing food from the same plate with another party was very off-putting, and given the price of the food it was definitely not worth it. Bad service + food + atmosphere did not equate to even an okay experience. Wish it lived up to everything we heard about it.

I cannot overstate how disappointed I am in this restaurant. I had been wanting to come here for a while now as it always looked good and could not have been more thoroughly disappointed with the service, atmosphere, and food quality. Before we even arrived, the reservations I set with were never even placed already starting off on the wrong foot. The servers placed me and my partner immediately next to another party of 2 while the restaurant was empty when we arrived and empty when we left, all to make it easier for them. The food was also rather bland with nothing standing out except for the McDonalds style french fries and making the price incredibly high for the blandness of it. Louis Basque Corner would work far better as a casino buffet than as an actual standalone restaurant.

All the staff were nice they greeted us and when kids food came they were nice, it was like family it was like they were in the kitchen cooking like family members and they were gonna eat later. They greeted us out when we were leaving, but when I was still in the restaurant the bar dude was not in the mood it was like he was thirsty for money. I think all the nice kitchen workers should get all the credit and get a raise they treat there customers like its family. I recommend it

Overall a good choice for dinner in Reno. Friendly service and decent food. Not like typical restaurants, the menu is a fixed price depending on what entree you order (NOT a la carte). It’s a lot of food so come hungry. The only negative (if you can even call it thatis that it’s family style so they seat multiple parties together at the same table. We generally wouldn’t mind this but it’s still Covid times and we were on a romantic date so it was a little awkward sitting right next to another couple bumping elbows with them.Highly recommend for groups!

This is a great place to bring out of town guests or a group of people for a casual meal experience. Family style dining, yummy wine, good hearty food. Theres a full bar and the specialty cocktail is picon punch, definitely worth a try. Atmosphere is fun and a little louder which makes bringing toddlers easier.Note: This is not the place for vegans, its very meat heavy.

Had a good meal here tonight. Everyone is sat together at long tables. Be prepared to meet me people off you dont bring a large group.Meals are served in courses and you choose your entree. We both had the lamb, it was excellent. Every other dish was good as well: bread, soup, salad, beans, chicken and then the entree. Pace yourself. As the restaurant filled up it became very loud. I would not choose this for a quiet romantic moment. Think more of a large party with people taking over each other. We had a good time and enjoyed talking to our table mates.

The dinner was the bomb. We had the prime rib as our meat choice that was cooked, in my opinion, as well as a high end steak house. The service was excellent. We really enjoyed the way that though we had a main server, the others would make sure we were happy. The courses were served with little gap time in between each. Eating family style was another great touch of this place. We did not have a reservation but were welcomed.* Make sure to make a reservation before you go as they do get busy *Overall I highly recommend you try Louis Basque Corner. Make sure to enjoy the dinner selection.

Louis Basque Corner is our favorite place to have lunch and dinner in Reno. Like most Basque Restaurants, dinner seating is family style and is a good way to meet people. For lunch we always set in the bar. We have made great friends with the bar manager. He shares the same last name “Benson “ with us. He is a fantastic asset to Louis . One thing to remember about dining at a Basque Restaurant is dinner is a “Food Orgy” and I promise You will leave full. Basque cuisine is unusual for some people, garlic is a major flavor, Lamb is always on the menu ,a Picon ’drink is a Basque specialty. Kathy and I have sought out Basque Restaurants and have had meals at most of them in the West. We love Louis Basque Restaurant and We both recommend it!!
