Italian eatery featuring family recipes plus a full bar, lunch buffet & live music some nights.
This place was great! We had the salmon, the pasta special and steamed clams. All were delicious. Our waiter was seasoned and excellent. He kept the glasses full at all times. Prices were a little high for the atmosphere but no biggie. The only complaint is that the place is closing the 28th of Dec. 2019. Boooooooo. I wish it wasnt so.
Take and bake the stromboli- you wont be sorry. SPO is always a hit, too. Great live music.
If you like old school red sauce Italian the food here is superb! The Steak Pizziola was prepared perfectly and the portion was huge. Had it for dinner at home the following night. The wait staff are on the ball (someone knows how to train); polite and efficient. This could be my new favorite local neighborhood restaurant!
Nice atmosphere, great food and menu, take a marker with you to write your name on the many walls with names on it inside establishment
We stopped in for a cocktail. The bartender Jimmy was delightful .great service. I definitely will be back.
We have been going here for 15 years since college and it is as delicious as it was back then. We love the chicken a la mia(artichokes, fresh mushrooms, and chicken with linguini!),eggplant parm was so tasty and the homemade tomato sauce is amazing. The service is always fast and friendly. We look forward to coming every time we visit our college!
We sat at a high top in the bar area to enjoy happy hour martinis and apps. For happy hour many of their 10 oz martinis are discounted and they were delicious. The doz clams w/brown butter app was delish, we also enjoy great calimari and sampled the fried mozzarella. On Tuesdays they have their Pasta Sampler discounted. We enjoyed that too but most of that went home for dinner Wednesday! It also came with a small antipasto salad and mini canola. The staff was friendly, efficient and professional. The decor is nice. We will definitely be back!
Great food omg and really great service . I would give 10 stars. Definitely come back . A really great experience at a real Italian restaurant
Had lunch with my sister today. Our waiter Adam was fantastic! The food was great! I remember when Louies was on Liberty street. Was great then as now. Thank you Louie and family !
Being it was Established 1958 ,I Envisioned Great Food like That of Vics Jersey shore or Pete and Eldas,Very Very Disappointing. The Bread is Terrible something that looks like Italian Bread and is soft as a Hanger Bun,They only have a 12 inch pizza sausage topping looks liked chopped Lebanon Bologna ,Horrible ,Way Overpriced Never Again!
My favorite restaurant by far, having celiac, they offer a great GF pasta dish. Good scenery and wait service too.
Great Italian and a friendly staff, whats not to love?
Decent buffet and lunch menu. Something for everyone. Friendly service. I wish the booths would be redone. They sit low and not comfortable.
Ducked in for lunch with my son. Spinach ravioli were delicious! Fettuccine Alfredo was nice and cheesy. Our waiter, Brian, was super helpful and attentive. He encouraged us to get the salad with "gorg" dressing - short for gorgonzola. A very simple oil, vinegar, herbs and spices with a very healthy topping of blue cheese! Just the way my Nonni liked it. Well be back.
No wait, service was amazing. House salad, too much zing in it and Gorgonzola cheese was overpowering. Fried mozzarella was to die for. Entrees were perfect, as were the desserts. Will return. Pricey, but worth it.
Very Good Local Italian FareThe four stars are based using Maggianos as the basis for five stars. My son and I had early Saturday Lunch. The food was tasty, the ambience comfortable and enjoyable, the staff friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The flavor (aroma, texture, spicesof the tomato sauce is a major factor for us in the enjoyment of many Italian dishes. We made our first visit based on other reviewers reporting that the sauce was very good. Our judgement is that it is very good. Not quite as good as Maggianos sauce, but better than many other places weve eaten. When I mentioned to the waiter that we liked the Marinara, but preferred something with more zest, he thought briefly, and then suggested that next time they could prepare Fra Diavlo, which seemed like a great option! I was pleased that: ahe gave our comment serious consideration; bhe understood what we were saying; ; che was knowledgeable enough to come up with a good suggestion; dhe did it all in a friendly helpful manner - everything you would want in a top notch waiter. On a very cold Winter day, the restaurant temperature was very comfortable. The acoustics were good, so that our conversation was not affected by a large group Birthday party going on in a side area. The lighting was comfortably dimmed and soft Italian music was playing over the speaker system, the TVs in the adjoining bar area were tuned to Sports, with the captioning on and the sound off - the kind of conditions associated with pleasant dining and good digestion. My son had spaghetti with marinara and meat ball. I had the lunch buffet which included salads, veggies, garlic toast, three soups, and six hot entree dishes (including pasta olio, appropriate for a vegetarian, also seafood Alfredo pasta, also meatball and sausage, also Italian baked chicken, also roasted vegetabes. He was happy with his choice, and on our next visit is going to order Fra diavlo. I was happy trying the dressed salad, onion soup, garlic bread, a four of the entree options - all were good, a notch above many other places. We will be going back, and will recommend Louies to others. I would gladly bring guests here.
Our first time there and we loved it. Just like an old fashioned Italian restaurant. Food was great, atmosphere was great, and staff was very friendly. Cant wait to go back!
My favorite red sauce in the valley. Always happy with their food. Their desserts are wonderful. Would have given five stars but I was once served moldy parmesan cheese.
The manicotti was delicious, service was attentive and on point whilst taking orders and making changes due to dietary needs. Solid wine selection is icing on the cannoli for this wonder slice of Italian cuisine.
Great local place to go for a drink at the bar. Doug the bartender is the best!! Makes the best drinks!! Louie always is around to mingle with the customers. A very family oriented restaurant.
Great fresh Italian food. Best calamari weve had and their scratch made sauce is amazing!
Great place. Jimmy is an excellent bartender and a nice guy. They cant make a decent steak sandwich. The meat is always overdone and the roll feels like its defrosted and not fresh. The clams casino are good and they make a great meatball.
Received prompt and very friendly service on a Saturday night. I recommend the blackened salmon served on a bed of spinach with a side of linguine.
Phenomenal food, and the service is always quick, amd courteous. The specials are always worth a look, amd dont forget dessert!!
Food was disappointing...clams were overcooked and caprese salad had no seasoning. They did bring fresh basil when asked and we added the dipping oil that came with bread, salt and pepper...
Pretty good. The desserts were excellent. I got the parmesan crusted chicken. The sauce was very tasty and the pasta was cooked perfectly. However my chicken was dry which was a disappointment. The coating for the chicken though was delicious. Overall good experience.
Great food good size portions. Very home feeling. A little dark inside but not terrible.
I had Chicken Parm. Large chicken breast was lightly breaded and very good. Personally, I wasnt a big fan of their red sauce but that is just my opinion. The bread served before dinner was very good.
Stopped for lunch with three co-workers. We had two BOGOs for the lunch buffet. Even with the BOGOs, it was seriously overpriced for the quality and selection of the food. It was like a thrown together, leftover surprise. Live and learn. Will not be returning.
Amazing food, as always. Best place e for Easter dinner. Great variety on buffet, pleasant surroundings, busy, but not so noisy you cant have a decent conversation. This vegetarian had more than enough, while carnivorous spouse was equally pleased.
We had dinner last Saturday and had a marvelous time with great food, wine, and live entertainment. We recommend this restaurant!
Great homemade authentic Italian food with a great family vibe. Terrific alcohol selection and amazing take out for a reasonable price.
Great food with great company!! Would definitely eat at Louie’s again!! Our waiter and waitress was awesome!!
Huge portion delicious authentic Italian cuisine in cozy atmosphere. Great for date night, family gatherings or happy hour
Meatballs were dense and overcooked, Alfredo was bland and had no cheese flavor at all. Our server was borderline incompetent, and by the end of the meal we were being taken care of by a different server all together (who was FANTASTIC, by the way). Food was lukewarm at best. Will not be returning.
It was okay. Wouldnt recommend the stromboli. It was prepared before hand and most likely frozen we asked to change out the American cheese for mozzarella and she said it was already pre-made. For the prices you should have fresh food.
Didnt know what to expect but my husband and I are very impressed! Patty delivered excellent service and the food was great! Definitely coming back.
Love to come here with the family. Food has always been spot on and service is exceptional. Never had bad experience here. Best Italian in Allentown.
I had never felt so unwelcomed in a restaurant ! My mom, aunt and daughter went for dinner and what we experience wasnt very good! While we were having dinner our waitress came several times interrumping us, then the 6th time that she approach us asked if we wanted our bill and we were still having dinner!! Is like she wanted us to leave then a young guy came, my mom was still eating and he asked if she wants a box for her food!! You know how in some restaurants they ask if you want dessert of coffee, NOT THIS ONE. SHE WAS IN SUCH A HURRY FOR US TO LEAVE AND SHE MADE THAT VERY CLEAR!
Food is consistently delicious! Weve eaten there three times and it just gets better. Excellent service too. Adam was our server this time and he is by far the best server weve had!
Food was delicious!!! Service was great. Owner came around and asked if everything was good. Waitress was friendly!😀
The food was great. The service was great -- a friendly and attentive staff. Ill be going back to try more items on the menu.
OMG, love this place. Everyone is cheerful and the food is great. Favorite is the spinach Salad with marinated grilled chicken. Highly recommend!!!
“We had a great time!”Wow....had no idea this restaurant/bar was near where we were staying (across the street), but so glad we found it. Had a great meal at the bar, with outstanding wine and excellent bartenders.
Loooove Louies on a quiet Sunday night. Nothing better on Sunday than a plate of angel hair and fresh homemade sauce. Dont forget the delicious homemade bread! Best Lemondrop Martini in the Lehigh Valley!
The foods good but dont go there if youre a Trump supporter. The owners wife is positively insulting to conservatives. My friends and I havent gone there since being verbally attacked Louies wife at the bar one night.
Nice wait staff, good pizza, but outside of that, I have not gotten anything that was all that great. Kids menu is ok, sauce for pasta is bitter and meatballs are bland. When we go here we get pizza and thats it. Desserts are usually ok.
Louies is right around the corner from our house. Sometimes its good, sometimes not. Their sauce is sickeningly sweet & the meatballs are inedible while other stuff, like lasagna is great (Im Italian & picky about Italian foodplus they offer gluten-free pizza. I wish they made more authentic sauce & meatballs & were more consistent. Nice waitstaff & great service.
Went in Excellent service, waiter was great, few jokes here and there, pasta also great I got manicotti. As the night progressed more people showed up, begin there early seemed a bit weird(very few people), so that got it more back up to feeling like I was in a Resturant, I did look at the menu before going there and looked at the ingredients, I saw that their lasagna had different ingredients than other places I had gone to, and I knew that I didnt like some of them so I went with something else as I mentioned (manicotti), and enjoyed it, desert was awesome cheesecake was great! :D. If you want to go out with friends here than go for it, prices were pretty reasonable, but also this is a place that you can take your family out to have a great, very nice dinner. Next time Im in the area "Ill be back"
We were out with good friends for a farewell dinner. The meal was a disgrace. The pastas were flavorless, the red sauce with calamari was simply warmed up crushed tomatoes. The calamari were tough and old, and had no flavor at all. It felt as if one was eating rubber. The salads were poorly presented, the "olive" oil was not olive oil. The music was good, but all too loud for the small place. We will never use this restaurant again and will discourage others from frequenting this facility.
