Lost Lake Trail - Park and Garden in Nanaimo, Canada
Lost Lake Trail in Nanaimo
Description
Privilege
Nice little trail, one bridge, nice views of a peaceful lake
Out of the way walk on the edge of Linley Valley. Lost lake is a small lake that you can occasionally see beavers in. The walk itself is a well maintained path around the lake, into the forest and back to the lake. Its about 1 km in length with some hilly sections. If you are looking for a quiet, short walk in nature that generally is not very busy, this is another park in the city worth checking out.
MoreGreat nature walk
Good for a light trail run1 k loop
Short, easy trail through a very tranquil forested area with scenic views of Lost Lake.
MoreLovely serene trail along lake
Nice trail. Keeps you cool on warm days.
Went on a rainy day, but the fog made the lake look like it was home to a few friendly ghosts, truly enchanting and adds to the “lost” effect! Trail was a bit hard to find as well as the parking, but would definitely go again 9/10
MoreVery easy trail. Good for kids
Quick little walk. Good for dogs with short legs
Enjoyable short hike. The trail, along with the bridges/boardwalk was in good condition.Very peaceful with few other visitors while I was there.Easy enough for all levels to enjoy this beautiful little park.
MoreAwesome 1 km stroll around a lake
Great walking area.
I used to enjoy running here when I lived down the street. Easy to access and a nice short loop around the lake.
MoreLess traffic. Quite and local neighborhood walk.Good for beginner and medium level hikers
MoreGreat little trail, not very long as it goes around the lake which is quite small. Nice spot, plenty of frogs and snakes, if thats your thing, and a resident turtle that hauls out onto a particular log.
MoreI have been going to Lost Lake since I moved to Nanaimo. I love the short, brisk walk. Gives me time to de-stress and it smells so good in there. Right in the heart of the neighborhood. I seldom run into anyone.
MoreNice short loop around a quiet lake, some uphill and downhills with one section of stairs and a platform to view the lake. Just watch your step as not everyone picks up their dog poop.
MoreEpic spot. Puppy friendly.
A quick walk, not too difficult around the lake. Quiet, not too busy, and they allow dogs in leashes.
MoreA pleasant, rolling stroll around a lovely lake. There is one steep section and some stairs, so not for everyone.
MoreA pleasant easy walk, not to long. Great for little kids .
Just a great little trail hidden in the center of Nanaimo. Great for walking, jogging, and all family outings.
MoreQuite the nice 360 walk around this little lake. There are some boardwalks with stairs on the East end of the lake. Doesnt even feel like youre in Nanaimo here. Takes maybe 15-20 minutes to do the whole lake. I recommend here for sure.
MoreIn 2009 I got married in this park. We had a Medieval Wedding complete with costumes. Guests were led by a flute piper from the parking lot to where we waited hand in hand by the lake. I chose this lake because it a very nice QUIET lake that not many people know about. The trail is a very easy to walk loop around the lake and doesnt see much traffic as its mostly used by the local neighborhood. I have seen ducks there and lots of dragonflies in late summer. There are some interesting rock formations which make great places to hide painted rocks for people to find which I enjoy doing as part of the Nanaimo Rocks! group on Facebook. Check it out!
MoreNice 1km round the Lake trail. Elevation change is about 16 meters. Its not flat at all. Some decent viewpoints. Its nice and quiet. There are some fairly steep bits as well as some areas with stairs.
MoreGreat walking trail, easy for the whole family and nice views of the lake
Cute short 1km hike around the pretty lake with very minimal elevation.
Nice small loop around lost Lake. Small parking area with some side road parking.
MoreGreat invigorating 15 minute walk around this lovely little hillside yarn. Lots of ups and downs for a good cardiovascular workout. Twice around for me does the trick!
MoreIt was absolutely beautiful when we went, weather wise it was actually quite foggy but it was still a lovely walk. Very green! I cant wait to go back with my dog 🐶
MoreShort, but nice secluded and peaceful trail at any time of year.
Nice peaceful place to walk
A relatively quick walk (25-45 minnestled in a quiet north Nanaimo neighborhood. There is plenty of shade so its a good walk even in the middle of the day.
MoreAlways a good run, 15k last week. Time to turn it up and complete 25 to 30k. Exactly 1k around the lake.
MoreBeautiful hidden gem. Great short trail.
Good walk. View of the lake is very pretty. Short though.
Very nice short walk around lost lake with some elevation, perfect for a casual walk or maybe a serious lap workout. This is great even in the dark. Loop is about 1.1 km
MoreLovely short walk around a small lake. I have seen ducks, herons and beavers in the lake.It freezes with a cold winter and the views are always serene.Today there were mushrooms - loads of varieties.
MoreTrail is pretty well maintained, boardwalk needs a couple of rotting boards replaced, though they havent broken yet. Area is beautiful. A pity that 90% of the dog walkers are either selectively blind or dont care that there is a Giant sign at the beginning saying Leashed only, NO OFF LEASH! A couple of people apologized and looked a bit guilty when I called them out on it, and immediately leashed their dogs; others either ignored me or strait up said that they "dont care and would brake any rule that they please." The Giant sign clearly states the reasons for the Leashed only rule. Caught a person actually letting their large dog swim in the drinking reservoir. I live in the area, and would prefer not to drink doggy bathwater, please and thank you!
MoreBeautiful areA. The trail is well kept and is worth walking at almost any time of year. If you are in the area ir looking for an easy hike check this one out!
MoreGreat little hike. It is fun for the kids. Its always nice to get out into the woods and smell the ketones, it takes about 20 minutes to hike around with pretty scenery to look at.
MoreLovely location for a 1km walk. Slight inclines, occasional tripping hazards, but the kids loved playing hide & seek!
MoreNice trail but loaded with dog poop. It smells nasty on a warm summer day and you should bring a change of shoes. I walk this trail several times a week and its a challenge to keep the shoes clean.
MoreWonderful hike through nature, take your boots or old shoes as the trail can be muddy and wet at times. Pay attention to your location as some trails have no markings.
MoreThe magic and beauty of Nanaimo is in her secrets. This city has simply endless secret little trails all over the place. The lost Lake trail is another cute little jem. Its only a 1 km walk, but the trail is in nice shape and circles a little lake. The lake water is murky and full of tadpoles, so not a place to swim, but definitely nice to nature watch. Its calm, peaceful, not challenging and not crowded.
MoreIts a remote nice small lake in nature by a secured reservoir tank. Can be reached to lake by two ways. First through List lake road by car, bicycle or foot. Small 4 to 5 cars parking at entrance. Second through Linly Valley Cottle Lake Park by foot only, but it is very tricky have to sneak through 2 diamond fences. Dont attempt alone as its eazy to get lost. Have to walk 1 to 2 kms from parking at Rock city road. Very quite filled with lush green trees, small hills covered with some kind of green fungy plant during rainy season.
MoreShort, picturesque walk around a peaceful, hidden pristine lake (drinking water supply). Leashed dogs welcome.
MoreSuper easy and fast walk. Great to take your dog for a walk or a quick jog around the lake. Would not want to go into the water
MoreLost lake trail is a hidden gem in Nanaimo. Its a short 10 minute trail thats not too steep and jogger friendly. There no official off leash area for dogs, but since its usually not that busy you wont have a problem.
