Cra. 43e #11 - 40, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia, La Estrella
On a tree-lined residential street, this laid-back hostel in a striking black building is an 8-minute walk from the nearest metro station, 2 km from the Medellín Museum of Modern Art and 3 km from Aburrá Valley. The industrial-style, mixed-gender and female-only dorms feature concrete or wood bunk beds with privacy curtains, as well as en suite bathrooms; some have balconies. Private rooms add TVs, and some offer Netflix.Amenities include a rooftop terrace with a bar, as well as a shared kitchen and a TV room.
The rooftop is nice but besides that my stay was awful. The rooms are super noisy, really to that level that your bed shakes from the music theyre playing. On the second day
Best hostel in Medellin!! Great pool party, good vibes, perfect place to meet people. Dorms were super clean. A special thanks to the very talented bartender Madison (and his amazing cocktails 🍹).
Booked a private room. The room was ok. Beds were uncomfortable. Not much going on at the hostel as far as other travelers. They close all the public areas early. Staff was nice.
The hostel has everything you might need, great place to work, live, party and enjoy. I‘ve stayed in the 8-bed-dorms with 2 bathrooms and balcony and had a good night sleep. Also because parties at the hostel end at 11 and they take you to a pub crawl usually. That way you can either enjoy the nightlife of Medellin in a safe way or just take a good night rest. During the day you can take part in their (often freeactivities, like yoga, art class or fitness (in their gym). Or you might want to take a spanish lesson and even better: dance classes like Reggaeton, Bachata, Salsa and more :I loved my teachers and am looking forward to staying at Los Patios again soon ❤️
I stayed at Los Patios a few times through August 2022. The guys there are amazing. Juan, Jesus and the team on reception are all like a family. They want you to have a great experience there and cant thank particularly Juan enough for making us feel so at home and like we had a friend to go to for any local recs or help us out. Definitely be back :)
Fantastic Hostel. I recommend not buy drinks atthe bars or order food from the lobby restaurant or the bars, they get as high as 10 times more expensive than outside. Everything else about the hostel is excellent, the staff are amazing, super clean, lots of amenities...
Amazing staff, facilities, and location! Good price too. Highly recommend
My first experience at a hostel so I went with a private suite and I had an amazing time! Staff were great, my room was great, lots of activities and I really liked the rooftop amenities. Would definitely recommend.
I didn’t stayed in this hostel yet but the customer service is excellent and they really care about you. Because of some circumstances in Mexico I wasn’t able to go to Los Patios anymore. As I didn’t checked in they reached out and asked if everything is fine and if they can support me. On top the offered me voucher for my nights in the future.
One of the best Hostels I ever visited!!So grateful for the very helpfull and nice staff. A special thanks to Shay who helped us in a difficult Situation. We will totally come back and recommend this Hostel to everyone!
We have nothing else to compare to in Colombia/Medellin as we only stayed for 2 nights, but this hostel was the best weve stayed in across the world so far. We stayed in the second building as rooms/social areas are split across two. The rooms were clean and immaculate, there was an issue with water supply on the second night but dont believe this was down to the hostel. Roof top bars are stunning, with amazing views of the city and mountains. Hosting different activities each evening and morning for free. The food is AMAZING on the roof top bar and also down in reception for breakfast.Marcella hosted an amazing free walking tour coordinated by the hostel and helped us feel safe and comfortable in a particularly rough time for the centre of Medellin it seems! The hostel location itself does feel like a safer part of Medellin to stay. Would stay again.
One of the best hostels I’ve ever stated in! It’s clean, the staff are super friendly and helpful, and the coffee shop and food are fantastic! Lots of activities offered to meet other people, but still quiet at night. I found it very social and easy to meet others as a solo traveller. Highly recommend!
This is the second time I have stayed at Los Patios. Both times have been a great time. But this time I exceeded my expectations. Party staff (Sabor y mas na!was incredible. Stephanie was awesome.
Has to be the best hostel in Madellín! Food is incredible, the hostel itself is brilliantly decorated and the ataff are amazing!
Best Hostel in Medellín. Seriously.First off - any reviews you read about the staff being amazing are absolutely true. They are so friendly, multi-lingual, and are so accommodating. They really make the stay a great experience. The location is also perfect for travelers, the rooms are very nice (and theres a gym + pool), and the vibe is second to none.Id absolutely stay here again!!
Such a fun hostel. The space is pristine. The street is a little loud but that’s half the fun. Great amenities and there’s loads of tour options that leave right from the lobby. The free coffee is delicious. This hostel seems to have thought of anything a traveler might need from luggage storage to earplugs. Would visit again!
Absolutely an amazing hostel! Location is great! ( you have a metro and huge shopping mall for youit is supper clean and the views are amazing! Maybe downside the tours can be little overpriced for what you get, but overall it is ❤️
We came to Los Patios for drinks and ended up being there for a free art exhibition, which was a really nice unexpected bonus. We then came back to the hostel a few days later for the artist’s painting workshop which we really enjoyed as well. Alejo is so passionate and creative, it was hard not to be inspired!
Its an amazing place to stay as a digital nomad. You can find a lot of party but ending early, so the people who cant dance, can sleep without any problem. Also, Los patios has a coworking and excellent internet for working in any place in the building. The Workers offering me one of the best services that I had. Every single person who works in los patios are always attentive if you need something or if something happen to you, even if you dont ask.Definitely is an amazing place for travel people, locals workers and digital nomad.
Best hostel in Colombia, perfect for solo travelers! They put so much effort in making sure you socialize (rooftop parties, dance classes, party bus..and the facilities are very good: towel, soap, 2 bathrooms per dorm, fan in each bed.. and the view from the rooftop is amazing, you won’t regret it !
Good location in Medellin, but it needs to be said that I would not recommend this hostel to travellers who like to have a nice sleeping environnement. Very loud music makes it impossible to sleep well.
This is the best hostel in Colombia. The rooftop bar is sick!
Great hostel - staff is very energetic and mixing. Loved their Salsa classes and salsa night :DTheir guatape tour is amazing!!!!! a bit expensive but worth it if you can spend the money.Although Viajero was a bit more relaxed and chill about hanging out so I would prefer staying there. I stayed in both hostels for 2 nights and Los patios was relatively strict about hanging out there when you are not staying.
Probably the best hostel that I’ve ever stayed at. Great for solo travelers. Nice environment, activities everyday, helpful staff and well located. Would definitely recommend!
They told us 1 hour before we were meant to check in that they were cancelling our reservation, they gave us no reason and no alternative. In other words we were stranded in Medellin at night with nowhere to stay!
We did a painting workshop with Alejandro this Thursday at los Patios. We really enjoyed the workshop and we learned a lot about how to work with shadows and perspective. We got to choose a picture from our travels (for us it was a colourful building we loved from Jardin). He explained everything very well and was very enthousiastic to answer all our questions. We would really recommend this workshop! And its nice to have a souvenir you made yourself :)
This is by far the best hostel I have stayed in Colombia and potentially even the world. The facilities are incredible from the rooftop pool to the many activities and the incredibly welcoming staff. We were here during the weekend and went to the party bus on the Saturday night and the pool party on the Sunday. There were BBQs, drinks specials and the private room was spacious, much like a hotel. We also booked the paragliding which was unforgettable and asked for lots of advice about getting around the city, which the staff were more than happy to help with. You can bring your own food and drinks to the common spaces and play pool, table tennis or poker. There’s also a large and clean kitchen for cooking as well as fresh drinking water from the tap. Luggage storage is safe with lockers, just bring your own lock. The party bus was a great way to meet people and the staff genuinely made everyone feel included. At the end of the night they also made sure everyone got home safely. I fully recommend Los Patios and would definitely come back.
Very nice and clean hostel. There is a nice party vibe if thats what youre looking for, altough it can get a little noisy. Staff is extremely nice and helpful, Luis even helped us make changes to our car rental in spanish. Restaurant is also very good. I would go back any time.
Loved every bit of the experience. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We took advantage of the tours/activities posted at the front desk.***Please tell Isa from the front desk that the English word she asked about for the plastic clasp on the key bracelets is “cord lock.”***
I cannot say enough good things about this hostel. I have stayed at all the other tops hostels in the area (masaya, viejero), and I can confidently say this is the best place to stay if you are travelling solo and working remotely! They have two buildings. This review is for the older building (Boutique). Staying in one building gives you full access to the amenities in the other building. This building has a free co-work space with blazing fast wifi (100 Mbps down, 150 Mbps upwith bookable meeting rooms. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. The private rooms are amazing, and 4-bed dorms give you the best value. Most of the social events are based here, and they have the best staff organizing them. Everyone working here is super accommodating, friendly, and professional! All-star team!
This hostel is both beautiful and in a great location. The staff was amazingly kind too and very helpful. They even offer great tours and events (some free and some paideach day that you can last minute sign up for. The art in the hostel was particularly breathtaking too. They even have a little shop with the cutest clothes and items. Definitely recommend staying at Los Patios, especially if its your first time in Medellin and/or you want to be in a walkable area.
Los Patios Hostel, provides the best energy hostel in the city of Medellin.Clean rooms with ample amenity space and lively rooftop patios. The staff were always friendly and happy to greet you. I received lots of helpful insight into local activities and fun day trips!Thank you Los Patios!
Stayed here four nights in December 2021 and had a very mediocre experience.Pros:-friendly and helpful staff-free coffee-sweet rooftop bar-very responsive to email/Whatsapp-AC unit worked well-great place to meet people. Seems to cater more to the young partying crowd.Cons:-toilet didnt flush well-shower hot water went in and out even after they "fixed" it-blackout curtain was hard to move and fell off completelywhile we there-room condition (Deluxe King Roomwas fine but for $70+ a night you could get a much nicer room elsewhere-on our last night (Thursday night), there was super-loud music blaring until 4:30am. I was singing along in my head with the (goodmusic despite having earplugs in and my white noise app turned all the way up. Theres no blocking out that thumping bass. We walked downstairs to see if there was anything they could do, but despite claiming 24-hour service, there was no one there and no one answered our Whatsapp messages. In the morning, the front desk staff was super-defensive and just kept reiterating that it wasnt their fault, it was the bar next door. Zero sympathy or apologies. Not great customer service after we had been up all night. Regardless of whose fault it is, just be aware there may be loud music blaring until the wee hours.Ultimately, there were some bright spots, but this was by far our worst lodging experience in Colombia.
I stayed in Los Patios for 4 weeks and the reception employees became like a second family to me! Shay, Isa, Luisito, Leidy, Camilla & Manuela y’all were great! See you next time!
Just the best hostel in Medellín! Employees are SO NICE and helpful, they share great vibes ! The swimming pool and the view are great. Food is excellent (both on the rooftop and in the café - awesome specialty Colombian coffee!). Thanks a lot for everything, you’re the best!
Hands down the best Hostal in Medellín!Juan Camilo, Alejo and Felipe along with the rest of the staff checked off every request possible for my birthday party and weekend get away trip to be an absolute success. They personally helped with the reservation for 30 people and even were so helpful and willing to reaccomodate last minute requests. Juanca went above and beyond with allowing my group full access to the pool, restaurant and bar for my birthday party allowing live music, entertainment and tepanyaki dinner at sunset at their rooftop. The service if I could rate it was more than 5 stars. If they didnt have the beverage, they would run out to get it, type of service 🙌🏽. Definitely coming back, this place and the staff are a gem. Thank you
The hostel itself was fine, although there are two buildings and one is quite a bit nicer than the other. My review mostly relates to the pub crawl offered, which was a total ripoff. Your (rather expensivewristband gets you one watered down shot, that’s it. There are no pubs, only awful clubs where you can’t hear the person next to you. The guide, who I won’t name (but think tattoos and bad fashion), snuck away after about 30 minutes to hook up with a random guy, leaving the other 40+ people stuck without anyone leading and quickly causing about half the group to get stranded at the first club while others moved to the second. Overall one of the worst “pub crawls” I’ve ever done. Unsurprisingly, their “disco” crawl via bus the next night had very little participation.
One of the best hostels I’ve been to! They have activities almost everyday, like salsa lessons, which are super fun, free coffee, rooftop bar with a crazy view of the city. Not to say it is a good place to work, for digital nomads. I can’t wait to get back! They also have tours, and pubcrawls, if you want to go out with the other people during the night…and it is extremely fun 🤩
DIGITAL NOMAD DREAM - If you are looking for a forward operation base from where you can explore Medellin while having access to fast WIFI, free coffee.. I repeat.. FREE COFFEE, salsa lessons, social dances, Spanish lessons etc. then this place is for you. The people are absolutely wonderful and that is probably an understatement. With that being said be aware that You will share the office and have to be considerate of other people. This place is a blessing 🙏🏽✊🏽
I truly enjoyed the environment and atmosphere at Los Patios. The Salsa Dancing instructed by Jesus were phenomenal and awesome.Nieves is like the mother of the Hostel taking care to ensure everyone has a safe an enjoyable stay.I truly enjoyed all the games and getting to know my roommates Briana and Asmaa.I highly recommend staying at Los Patios if you want to have a great stay in Medellin.
Hands down, the BEST hostel Ive ever stayed at. It felt like more a boutique hotel than your average hostel. From the moment I checked in, to leaving and saying bye to the staff/now new friends, I felt incredibly welcomed. I stayed for 3 weeks in the heart of El Poblado, which was both easy to get around and safe as a solo traveller. If you have the time, I highly recommend Spanish classes with Jose and dance classes with Jesus. They are both great instructors in their own way and made my stay even more special. Also, Issa and Sara as part of the front desk team, and Carlos and Sergio in the lobby coffee shop (YOLO), were some of the nicest and most helpful people throughout my time in Medellin. Ill be back at Los Patios!
I came here as a Solo traveler from the USA in December and had an 11/10 experience. Especially for coming during a pandemic this hostel had so much to offer without even leaving the property and the staff was so nice. Especially Jesus the bartender who went so far beyond hospitality and made me feel like a true friend immediately. He also had great dance moves and made good drinks but thats besides the point. The point is if you want your accommodations to have lots of amenities and friendly staff this is the place to go
it’s the best Hostel in Colombia, I just can say it’s my Second Home! it have an amazing rooftop bar, perfect to meet people and amazing workers Jesus and Sebastian, they have such a great energy! They always offer salsa and cocktail classes, it’s just fun:)also the reception girl isabel is also so friendly she always will help you if you have some problems :)you will feel home as you arrive :)
Best hostel Ive stayed in ! Facilities were super clean, fun activities are organised daily and staff are super nice and helpful. The rooftop is the best, great drinks and specially food, the chefs skills are outstanding and the ingredients he uses are top quality. Will be back for sure ☺️
Just spent 3 weeks here and it had everything I was looking for. Most of all the employees here felt like family afterwards. Super friendly and helpful. Yolo Coffee shop downstairs has amazing breakfast options and the best coffee in town by far. The rooftop bars are the place to be with amazing staff and music. Cant wait to be back!!
I stayed at Los Patios for 2 weeks and I already want to go back. After years of experience with hostels all over the world I appreciate their service so much. First of all, it’s super clean, everywhere and all the time. Second the kitchen is very well equipped and doesn’t only contain old, battered saucepans. And last but not least, the staff is amazing. Always friendly, quick, concerned and the bar guys (specially Jeffare very well trained. You can feel the quality in every corner and it’s worth every cent. You can also tell that the staff is treated well and they like working at Los Patios. The only thing that is really lacking is a pool. I kinda expected one for that price. But I’ll be back anyways!
Honestly one of the best hostels Ive stayed in. The dorm rooms were equipped with personal curtains, light, fan, plug, shelf and towel. And the bunk beds were built in! - so no movement or sound whatsoever when climbing in and out of bed.The staff were super friendly the the amenities of the hostel were unreal, like the gym, movie room, co-working space, rooftop bar.Pricier than most hostels but well worth the extra cost! Would stay again, and fantastic location in Medellin!
The staff, the location, the facilities, the activities, everything is amazing. I had a great time with the amigos on the bar hops, who also helped me learn some spanish. Also, the rooms were cleaned often with free towels, and the shared spaces were all nicely decorated. I have already recommended it to my friends as well as people I have met at other locations and will be coming back.
This is one of the best hostels I have stayed at. Facilities were good (rooftop bar, one side for hammocks, both have nice views), great way to meet other travellers through the hostels nightly activities and the staff Roxanne and Julian were awesome! My sister and I had a ton of fun and want to come back. The location is perfect because its in a quieter part of Poblado but steps away to lots of fun. Also quite a few restaurants nearby. Oh.. the place was SO CLEAN for a hostel. Overall, a wonderful experience. Only complaint is the bar hop got messed up because the second stop was closed, so we were brought to Octavio bar which is a bit gimmicky... everyone pretty much disbanded there, including staff, so no one really knew what was going on. everyone did their own thing.
Amazing hostel! Loved the stay, you feel the energy of the great place as soon as youre dropped off. No complaints other than my shower leaked outside of the shower area and told management 4 times. Each time they said it was fine (which it wasnt)Other than that, helped with tours, food recommendations, they also had events. Will be coming back to Colombia and definitely staying here again!
