Los Ocampo Restaurant and Bar - Mexican restaurant in Saint Paul, United States
I love it here. The food is always consistently good. I really enjoy the tacos and the steak platter. The enchiladas are good too.
This is the spot for authentic Mexican in the cities! Staff is awesome, especially Ivonne and Sandra at the bar or Cynthia. Get the enchiladas. It can be a little speedy but it’s worth it!
Waiter/server was slow at taking our drink order and when asked if we wanted any salsa with our dish we said yes but he never came back with them.
The food was okay, but the costumer service was awful. Ive been a server for 20 years and would never handle my guest in the manner that occured this afternoon while out with a group of friends. Poor Management and undertrained servers .
Delicious food and great service. We had a lengthy visit with a friend, never felt rushed to leave. Servings were ample.
Everything was on point today, always...
We got there ordered chips and cheese then we ordered or food took more then 20 minutes to get are food a table came in way after we did notice the waitress talked to them for awhile they got there food right away I will never return to this place dont even know why I did usually just cook my own Mexican food poor service I didnt like what I ordered
First time in my life Ive had to ask for, or pay for, chips and salsa. Other than that the food was good, presentation was good, not amazing but good. Im probably not going to go back, but I wasnt disappointed.
Service and food were very good. Daughters 21st bday and we didnt get anything for it though
Amazing food and staff. The atmosphere is great, and we love sitting on the patio! Favorite local spot!
Good food, but the service is poor. 2 times this happened. Half hr waiting for drinks, and then the check as well.. I finally went inside and paid. No, it was not busy. I left a tip for the cook and bar keep. My waitress was sitting on her phone. Im hoping she saw none of the money Probably wont go back to this location. Hopefully other locations have better service. I will be writing this review on multiple websites.
Great menu selection, always a good meal. Waitstaff were very attentive
Great deal, we made it to happy hour! Excellent food, as always, and great service!
Has a nice patio sitting area. They also have a 52oz margaritas.
Somewhere the best food near my girlfriend has had in a long time and their customer service oh my God spectacular
Sat us down and I watched and waited for 15 minutes as there was no server making a attempt to even offer water. Bad service I know if it’s busy it’s busy but can someone acknowledge me and my party and let us know!!!!
Extremely overpriced for a casual food and 20% gratitude on top of what you order without prior knowledge.I never seen that anywhere in Minnesota. We paid almost $200 for three tacos and non-alcoholic drinks. Our server was friendly but we felt like we got completely ripped off. Definitely we will not be back good luck.
Average tasting food but I will say service is good. Would not recommend their nachos, it was bland and it wasn’t warm when it got to me. Had the beef fajitas and it was alright, nothing spectacular.
The service was pleasant and the food made our taste buds dance with yum. 100% would recommend and plan to go back.
For an $20 entree CARNE ASADA DINNER MEAL at least hook me up with some guacamole, lettuce, and my 3 tortillas. Disappointed
What a hidden gem! Authentic for sure! The flavor, their sauces cant be beat! I love Mexican food, and this is the best around! My favorite: carnitas huarachazo! 😋 Bonus: great service!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ive been here a couple times. The food really is good, but I just dont think its worth their price. Nearly $20 for chicken fajitas is pricey in my book. There was barely enough chicken to fill three of the five small tortillas they included. Im not sure if theyve fallen in with other restaurants whove raised their prices post pandemic in order to offset their losses during that time. Either way, its good food at a steep price. Be well!
Long long long wait. They had a lot of help and were NOT that busy! The place was dirty, much trash on the floor. We had to ask them to wipe our table off due to being very sticky. Food was ok but has been so much better in the past. They totally need experienced management to run the place. Again, they had enough help and there is no excuse for the long wait.
Everyone there was so nice and the customers were having such a blast drinking their margaritas with the beer upside down in them... I thought the menu was a little bit pricey. I ordered the nachos which were a good deal but they werent amazing.
Took my daughter there & ordered fajitas with a steak my daughter is almost two but she seemed to enjoy
Great experience. Live singing definitely complemented the food! Not sure how often they do that though.
I love their tacos and their sauces but this has happened way to many times. I often order pickup for their sauces and it’s only half full. Getting charged full price for half of what I paid for. 2 sauces and barely full rice was $32 you’ve got to be sh*tting me.
Went here to get some of their supposedly great shrimp tacos. Walked in at 10:22pm and according to Google theyre open until 11pm. They denied me a seat and denied me a to-go order. After some chatter in Spanish with the bartender I was told the kitchen had already cleaned the grill, which judging from the hostesses body language, gestures and the looks up and down they gave me was most likely a lie. Im a chef in Northern Wisconsin and I always serve until 5 minutes AFTER we close to allow for clock differences. Ive never closed 38 minutes early and the grills usually dont get cleaned until 30 minutes after close. Too many great options around as far as Mexican food in the cities to treat customers like that. I wont be back. I really could of used some good shrimp tacos in my life tonight too, this is the most disappointed Ive ever been with a restaurant I didnt eat at.
I was not vary excited when my soggy breaded tamales came out and were dry on the inside the waiters and i were not having the best experience. Portions are not large enough for the price. I also dined out and the service was slow and food was rushed when cooked.
The food was amazing, flavors were as advertised! My partner was very happily surprised by just how good their meal was as well! Our server Elena was the key to it all, she kept us in refills, was prompt and knowledgeable of the menu, and had a great demeanor to round off the package!
Service was slow, took awhile just to get our drinks. Food was slow to come out of the kitchen but was hot, beans and rice were more like room temperature. But overall a good meal.
I hardly write reviews, but this is critical. Customer service is non assisting at this place. I usually order from here for lunch while at work. I usually just order and pick up. I am currently with child and for some reason Ive been craving Mexican food like crazy. I asked my husband to take me for a dine in dinner for the first time and our waiter was so rude and impatient. We stayed and ate nevertheless because pregnancy cravings wouldnt allow us to leave. Due to the same pregnancy craving, I ordered from them again. This time, I was craving shrimp quesadilla. When I called to make the order, I was told that they didnt have those, so I would have to order a side of shrimp which would cost an extra $6.99. I said okay and placed the order. I picked up my order on my lunch break only to find out, there was no other meat in the quesadilla. I called to ask about it and I was told that the only thing they could do was have me pick up the meat of my choice. I informed the person I was speaking with, who I found out was the manager when I asked to speak with one that I was at work and my lunch break was over. I asked if I would then get a discount on my next order and she said no. She was just so rude and wouldnt budge! I told her I would not order from there again and she said fine, thats your choice. I would never waste my hard earned coins here again!! Two stars because I did enjoy the food when I did, but I cant spend my money where I am not appreciated.
Love the food and drinks. Service is always excellent
First time here and I loved it! Ive been looking for tanales that hirs the spot for the longest time ever, and now I have found it. It wasnt dry or soggy; it was perfect! The meat inside was generous as was the sauce and cheese! Im not sure what my bfs order was called, but the meat was perfectly charred and the sauce on it had such an addicting sourness to it. The churros were throughly cooked with generous sugar. The drinks I had, a sangria and kinkyrita, had generous liquor in it too! Overall, I loved my experience here and will come again when I am craving this cuisine!
Always have a good experience. Services was nice n accommodating. Food was always good.
My family, friends and lunch/dinner dates here are always great! The employees are always super nice and funny! Lunch specials are reasonable and the food is soooo good! Pre-covid they used to have mariachi bands play on Fridays or Saturday nights which was fun and also at one point had a balloon animal artist too. Our family loves this restaurant!
A friend and I ate here two days ago on Saturday. Listen this has a great feel bartenders and servers very talkative I was expecting a enjoyable experience. Sadly my beer was warm off the tap food was day or days old. From the time we ordered to receiving our meal was a matter of 4 minutes. As a said EEs are awesome but the food was NOT fresh other than that awesome place.
We had a terrible experience. We were regulars. Today when we saw our bill we noticed they charged 3 extra beers. $ 10.50. First they said they will call their boss to check cameras. We responded ok. Then they treat us to call the police. We said call it. Finally they deducted the 3 beers but asked us to do not come back. To give an example of who we are. A couple months ago when we asked for the bill they told us that the system was down and only accepted cash. We said that we only had cards. We drove to the nearest ATM got cash and came back and paid. I never felt so discriminated and offended in my life. We ordered 2 tacos to go and this is what we got.
Food was okay, service was okay at best. I enjoyed the corn.
New to MN and this is by far the best Mexican restaurant I’ve tried. The attention from the staff is spot on, everyone is very friendly and don’t get me started on the food. I ordered many different tacos with all kinds of meats and they tasted phenomenal. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients like the cilantro and onion that is usually diced up in a yummy taco. The patio has a beautiful setup to get some refreshing drinks in the summer and the inside of the restaurant has TVs to watch sports and events. The atmosphere is family oriented and there’s plenty of parking. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food, this is your spot.
Had Enchiladas and Churrasco with some margaritas and some beers 😂😂. It’d have been great to stay longer except for the twin cities curfew. What a lovely place. Joana was awesome with her exceptional service. Definitely coming back.
It was good food, relatively expeditious services. Only reason 2 stars is because of the advances the waiter kept making toward my date. Like over and over again.
I miss the old Los Ocampos. This time around they literally double their prices and charge you for chips and salsa. The "elote" option now comes cut literally in half. Unfortunately, The food doesnt even taste the same and the serves was bad (maybe a new waitress?). They forgot my beans and brought them towards the end. The beans looked like someone had ate them already, so I refused to eat them.
I LOVE their tacos! I always order the tacos al pastor with extra radishes. Everything else is standard Mexican restaurant faire. Stick to the tacos. We live about 40 mins away but make the drive every few weeks.
The pork red pozole is amazing! Truly a Mexican taste and it comes with a tostada. You can add spicy as you like. The chile de arbol is very tasteful but very spicy use it wisely. The staff promptly sat us down and they served the food very fast.Thank you!
Very good place, nice setting and music. The service is also real good. Food is delicious and plentiful, if you are not the big eatrer, you can share one main course between 2 people, its just too much food!!!Margaritas are also a hot there, have to try them, they offer a wide variety and you must. Also, its very moderate in prices, which makes it even better.Im definitely coming back!
Good food, good portion sizes and decent prices. Large menu with lots of choice and everything I tried was good.
expensive. good place for the "gringos" but not for the legit mexican. not good seasoning. they need a new chef. michelladas dont taste good.
Food was good and authentic. Our server was friendly and attentive. Portion size was filling. Good prices.
Great food & waitress but the hostess was rude & dumb. I go in with my Mom for lunch on a Wed., theres 4 tables with patrons, I ask her for a corner round table & she says no because its for parties of 5 or more. Really, there were plenty of those tables empty, table she gave me was next to it, just to be an a-hole. Well guess what the entire hour we were there that table was empty as were the rest of the others, mgt shouldnt hire dumb girls to greet its customers, ruins the experience as well as the palate.
