Small, modest counter-serve offering Mexican staples from morning to night in a colorful space.
The food is real good and they always check to see if need anything but the prices online are different than whats on there menu, they need to update the the prices on line. Us poor folk are on a budget looking for a place to go to eat.I love the beans with salsa they almost as good as the ones mom use to make.
To whoever is thinking of coming to this restaurant, don’t. Unless you are white they aren’t going to give you good service. Me and my husband went and where experiencing racism right next to the perfectly attended white couple next to us . Keep in mind this is a Mexican restaurant .Also the food was wrong and the burritos where soggy.
Fast friendly super good consistent food all the time!! And they’re open late which makes it even better!!
Great burritos. Long line on Sunday morning. Call ahead if you are in a hurry.
Waited an hour for 3 breakfast burritos to go. First time here. Will not be returning. So unorganized ridiculous wait.
The food is delicious and its a perfect atmosphere to enjoy our lunch... the horchata are soooo good
Excellent service, food and location. Thank you Valerie.
This has been our favorite place for many many years. Today we were very disappointed. They now charge $3 for about 10 chips and salsa. (No jokeMy husband and I looked at each other and laughed at the chips. And that was before we realized we had to pay for them! They also got our order wrong after I repeated it to the girl about three times. No longer our go to place!☹️
Great service and wonderful food 🥘
The food was awesome like always! The only thing is that you no longer get chips and salsa for free.
We loved the place. Good food and great service.
Always great food never lets down
Food is always on point gracias rudy and staff
I have been addicted to their chicharrones and salsa since the 1900s. One of the best Las Cruces restaurants of all time!
Dont waste your time or money here...used to be one of my favorite spots i just paid almost 20 dollars for three tiny crunchy dry overcooked breakfast burritos ever not to mention the egg shells in the burrito smfh....just go to santa fe grill spend the same amount for 100x better burritos!
Very friendly place, great customer service & great food. Would definitely come back.
The most bland tacos I’ve ever had. Covered them in salsa & still no flavor. Honestly questioned if they just microwaved canned chicken & put it on a hard shell. Not sure if you consider this Americanized Mexican. But skip it & try one of the 100 other Mexican joints in La Cruces.2 starts for clean environment & friendly staff.
Honestly this restaurants taste of food is always the same I am proud to say the owner is so hard working woman and very loyal to her own business she is the one that does all the cooking for all her customers every day of the week 365 days of the year we have to congratulate that woman and supporter for her being so strong and Beautiful wonderful woman with a great taste of Mexican food lets support our local people just like this hard working woman My hats off to her and her family
The food tasted Ok, nothing too special, but it was a bit expensive for what it was. $8 for a very simple omelet with beans. There was an error on the menu and they gave me the extra ingredient that was listed, not bad customer service
Best place in town. Been around for decades and still great. Recommend the tostadas compuestsas and red or green chili burritos. Relleno burritos are also good for a quick easy to go meal.
I have tried the barbacoa tacos and the caldo de res. Both are out of this world. Highly recommend trying your favorite Mexican food here...
Ive been craving a barbacoa burrito for a while now. I finally found this place that sells them. The price was kinda high for such a low quality burrito. Staff was rude, had to ask for silverware. So disappointed in what we received. I suppose I will continue looking for a good barbacoa burrito. 🙁
Good food all the time. Building is a little small and cramped. They started charging for chips and salsa now. Last time I went in had to cancel my order and leave. Waited 45 minutes and food still had not come out as they were short handed and lunch rush was on.
One of the best locally own Mexican restaurants in Las Cruces. 5 stars because they started charging for chips and salsa.
This is the best town you can get Mexican food is Las Cruces New Mexico but yes I loved the food here it was awesome anything that you order is good no matter what it is
Food and service are always on point. This is my local go to. Best stew and HOT salsa around.
Pay before the service is how this restuarant handles business, including tip. I have encountered the first of its kind. I had to pay for chips and salsa, if I wanted some. $1.70 is the price. I tipped before I received the service. The waitress brought me the food that I ordered, Lg bowl of Menudo and a chicken enchilada, under normal circumstances, a person would be thankful for receiving a tip. The waitress did not acknowledge the tip. The Menudo had a small amount of tripe, the enchilada was small for the price. I cant remember the last time i recievedthe least for my money. I filled in the blanks on my receipt. No fraud involved.
July 18 2001 lunch time waited 1hr. Dont go there on weekend also food was not right and cold needed to ask for silverware napkin not ill go to Texas road house where great customers service
Ive never had a problem when with staff here and I eat here a lot!! Until this last time, I always get chicharon burritos smothered in green enchilada sauce (for those of u who arent familiar with this place, that have types of green chili sauces, green enchilada and regular green sauceI ask for this specifically because I dont care for the regular green sauce, taste too much like plain jalapeño. Called in my order before husband got home from work so he could just swing by and pick up on the way home. When I seen my order, I was made wrong, called and let them know, they instructed me to go for the rite order. Upon me arriving for my order, they said they werent going to replace it! Cook stated I was lying, she made my plate correct! Now why in the world would I have gone thru the trouble of driving across twn mind you, if my plate was made correct?? I sry but I wldve been happy at eating it, make sense, doesnt it? Long story short, this situation was handled in the most unprofessional way all the way around, it took for me to demand my full refund and almost act out ta character jus for them to make it rite!! I will not be going bk to, wht was one of my favorite places, to eat
Ordered on Grub Hub, ordered the burrito plate that comes with 2 burritos. When order arrived there was only 1 burrito in the plate. Called the restaurant and was told by the lady answering the phone I needed to specify 1 or 2 burritos. So I went back to grub hub and looked and there are 2 options 1 for 1 burrito and another for 2 burritos. Review my order and I did indeed order the one with 2 burritos. Call back and explain this to the girl on the phone and she tells me the same thing and specifying 1 or 2 burritos (there is no place to do that by the wayand then says i looked up your order and you only ordered one, and if I brought in my receipt she would show me where I only ordered one. Only problem is we got no receipt, the only thing I have is the order on the phone. Girl on phone was VERY RUDE and did not try to help fix the problem. Will DEFINITELY not be going back.
Ordered breakfast for the building and when I went to go pick up the order the lady that walks outside to greet was very rude and highly unprofessional!! I’ve worked in food for 13 years and that kind of attitude and service I would not stand for if I owned Compas. I was telling my family about the service I received later in the day and someone else was able to describe the girl without me describing her. The girl with the tattoos on her arms. Embarrassing if you ask me!! Horrible service and even worse first impression!!! Will not be returning!!
This is a beautiful hotel. The bar is large, well stocked, and the bartender is excellent. Hotel rooms are clean and elegant. Location is good. As good as all those things were, the staff was especially friendly. I love this place and I would absolutely stay there again.
Worst restaurant and food ever! The chimis and green sauce was so spicy, I could not eat it after a few bites. I asked for a bean and cheese burrito, but it was so bland the packs of salt provided were not enough to make it edible. We were charged for the chips and salsa, which Ive NEVER been charged for at any Mexican restaurant.Again, tbe salsa was so spicy, I could not eat it.The bill came to $54, they could have offered a discount, but no such luck, what a waste of money.
We waited for 45 minutes to get our food, they were more worried about takeout orders then the patio. Was very disappointing. We have always been happy. If you cant do both patio and takeout then just do one. Over 5 table of people left before eating because of the wait. Sad
Maybe if the girl with the tattoos was nice and had manners I would’ve gave her a tip and gone back. For not business ONE STAR. FOR SURE they need to have her in the back cooking instead of being the face of the company. Good luck.
Years and years of enjoying compas food. But had horrible service at both locations. We order compas twice a week for lunch. But getting hung up on not once but twice as soon as I said I need to order some burritos was too much. I love your food always amazing but the service will make me choose a new place for lunch from now on.
Very friendly and accommodating! We accidentally called our order in 10 minutes till closing, and they were more than happy to make our food and bring it out to us. I ordered the tostadas compuestas, and they were amazing! We will be back for more!
Updated January 15, 2020Just not good tasting. Papas terrible. Seemed like whole beans were reheated in the microwave or scraped from bottom of pot. Service was excellent. Food to table very fast. Tough business and I hope they survive.Plenty of parking. Plenty of options on the menu. One person takes the order runs the cash register and answers the phone so sometimes the wait is long. The food seems to get cold while on the shelf waiting for a person to bring it to the table. Maybe this is not true for regulars. The food has tasted good - just on the cold side. One time I sat in the well traveled path from kitchen to tables and someone would check on me periodically. Another time I sat where there was no kitchen traffic, I had to go to the front to retrieve my order which someone then brought back to me; no one checked on me after that. In short, this is a busy place and I suspect the food is very good for the regulars especially.
When we were placing our order the girl working at the register seemed bothered by us being there. Our food was not good. We left most if it. The waitress however was very sweet.
Look at those burritos! Less than $9! And delicious! And they were served piping hot! You want limes with your beer? Bam, done! Now there arent free refills on chips and salsa, but I think thats a benefit. How many times have you gone and filled up on chips and salsa somewhere and not been able to finish your hot fresh food? Here is a check of "Do you reeeally want more?"I would definitely put Los Compas on a list for tasty cheap eats in Las Cruces.
First time going and last time going. Very disappointed. Food was terrible. No taste, especially the beans and what you call, Mexican rice. My potatoes were cold and my over easy eggs were over fried. Whoever is preparing the food, does not know about seasoning. It was like eating cardboard. Mexican food should be prepared with some Sazon! Unfortunately, your cashier and waitress dont know about welcoming your customers. Youll be surprise how far a welcoming smile goes.
Just sat and waited 30 minutes at this place for one freaking burrito that i called in! And was told it would take 10 to 15 minutes. Everyone who ordered in person 10-15 minutes after i did got there food before i did. Waiters just walk by dont even ask why im still waiting. To top it off the lady who took my phone order just hangs up on me when i was telling her thank you... Used to love this place service has definitely gone down!!! Smh
Really good food, the service is good also. But when we first walked in, the young lady was a little rude. It was our first time being to the restaurant, we didnt know if we sat down anywhere or wait to be seated. Then we ask the young lady at the counter as to what we were to do. She rolled her eyes and just told us to hurry up and order the they would take the food to us. That was the worst part of it, because after that the other young lady was really good and sweet.
They have no idea how to wrap burritos. The tortilla was hard. The ingredients which was mainly beans were bland. I ordered a red Chile meat burrito which seemed to be just a bean burrito with a little dab of red sauce and meat. Not worth the money at all. Taco bell would of been better. Also people who walked in after me and ordered burritos to go get their order right away. I waited. maybe because I am white and a female not sure. . waitresses there only seem friendly to men. Hope they can improve their service but they do not have to since they serve beer thats all that really matters.
Los Compas has always been a favorite go to Mexican restaurant in Las Cruces. Their food has always been consistantly great and everytime I go there time to time, it tastes the same.. So good that I forgot to take a photo after my first couple bites!
The worst Mexican-American food I have ever tasted. I gave it two stars cause the ambience is nice and the waitstaff friendly. One of my peers stated everything was refried not just the beans. The food was not fresh of good quality.
Ive been here quite a lot for work and can say that their food is the most consistent in the city. If you went there a month ago and you go today, itll taste exactly the same as when you went before. Their tortillas are warm and delicious with a nice crisp, the beans and rice are exactly what you expect when you would visit a New Mexican home and the chile is delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful, great at taking custom orders and havent had any problems. And their daily specials are always worth a try. The mole on Tuesdays, tastes so good as if they had my abuela in the back working there.
4/8/17 - Dont come here. Ordered 2 burritos. They took 55 minutes to bring them to us. Brought us 1 half filled bowl of chips. They make you pay before for a reason. Servers are great though.... at least
UPDATE... STILL AWSOME!!!The food here is great! I love the chicharon burritos! The service is always friendly when I come. I havent been here during a rush so I dont know how they handle it most of the time I order to go, today everything is spot on. Highly recommend, especially if you want good local food and are from out of town. Beware, the green chili is hot! ... but delicious! The floors and restrooms are always clean when I visit.
Twas my first breakfast in Las Cruces. So good I ate here every morning the three days I was there visiting.
