Lovely little find, visited a few Sundays ago and thoroughly enjoyed the walk and the lunch! Just a shame the young lady behind the counter of the cafe was exceptionally rude, and didn’t look happy to be at work. Definitely no service with a smile!

Lovely morning, breakfast omelette was delicious. If youre wary of birds they do come to say hello but will stay away if you ignore them. We were happy to have them sitting on the table.

Beautiful views right across to the coast. Right on the Cleveland Way, lots of great walks for my dogs.Unfortunately cafe was shut, no reason why stated as opening hours were well past the time of our visit, therefore cant comment on the food.

Been going up there since before it existed, was friendly with John who had it before it was smartened up. The location is second to none. Lovely walks and views as far as penshaw monument, on a clear day. Great food and service. One can eat inside or out, the location is such that its protected from most winds.

Over priced and bad service, cakes and scones are not fresh. I don’t think I will go back again. Far better places elsewhere. It’s a shame because it’s a nice location.

Camped while doing the coast to coast. Would have been better had I been allowed to camp within the campsite and not on the field outside the boundary which has a lot of public access. Surely you could find an area to host coast to coasters within the site

Nice place, had a Sunday roast, it wasnt the best Ive had but it was fairly good. The disabled toilet had a roll of toilet paper, which everyone else would have touched, not great for spreading germs, especially when COVID is still around. Also, no paper towels or hand dryer to dry your hands on in the disabled toilets. I had to go into the mens room after Id used the disabled toilet to wash and dry my hands.Really nice building and apparently, there are some nice walks nearby.Im disabled though, so didnt get a chance to explore. We were in a group and they forgot about a number of meals, so we sat without whilst other members of our group had finished theirs, they were busy though and a few staff down, so I think they were strugglingStaff are attentive and friendly.

This visit i was very disappointed, extreme weather outside so ordered soup and some bread. After i finally managed to open the front door which was damaged, i ordered 3 soups. They eventually arrived and it was like luke warm sick, disgusting to be fair. The paths outside were thick ice and untreated, not impressed at all.

Really lovely spot even in a cold January, drinking hot chocolate and eating some gorgeous cakes outside after a very muddy walk was splendid.Kids enjoyed cakes. We didnt sample much else, but staff were lovely, despite the mud, snow and ice the bar and shop area where clean and tidy. Will visit again when a bit warmer.

A great starting point for exploring this beautiful area. Excellent cafe / restaurant with plenty of outdoor seating if you’re a bit muddy. You’re already high up so it’s a relatively easy climb to the top of Cringle End for magnificent views reaching out to the far coastline and wonderfully illustrated by the memorial sign pointing out all the main landmarks. You can either return by the same path or carry on to descend via a steep stone path which is a bit tricky for us seniors but easy for most. You then return to Lord Stones by a muddy path which still gives great views across the Moors.

The last three times here were very disappointing, much less choice and very little portions, the soup is so expensive for a third of a bowl and the slices of quiche get smaller each time we go, shame as we all love sitting out there in the middle of a hike, but a bit of a turn off at the moment as we all have always enjoyed the food here many times over the years.Just been back to Lord Stones and we had a wonderful Sunday dinner, well cooked, nice vegetables and very good potions, good price too, so now put well deserved 5 stars and we will definitely be back

Delicious lunch! The shop itself has a little shop with your usual confectionery with some usual household goods and then there is a restaurant with outdoor seating. Friendly staff in both the shop and restaurant and a very delicious toasty! I saw some burgers being served as well and they looked amazing too!

Fantastic place, right on the C2C route so an absolute ideal location, the woodland retreat area for campers is beautiful, secluded and private, very natural and very sheltered...although you cannot park next to the pitch, its so close to get to your car and toilet/shower block, its no trouble... Top notch

The setting is lovely, at the foot of the Cleveland Hills, with the Cleveland Way going right through the middle. Well definitely be back to the area to explore. We had some issues with the site itself, as follows:- We stayed for two nights in two roundhouses, noting it was for a family of three and a family of four. However, the roundhouses are really only accommodation for two, indeed no bedding was provided for the second bed at all (and we were only told of this two days before we were due to arrive).- The second bed was a sofa bed, and it turned out the roundhouse is too small and cramped to simply fold the sofa out, you need to rearrange the furniture to even remotely make it work, and even then youre left with a sofa bed at a funny angle filling the middle of the room.- One sofa bed (in Badgerwas only a single, which wasnt much use as the family of four was put in there. This made things especially cramped.- Only a tiny table for two is provided on the deck, so all four cant easily sit and eat dinner together. A table fixed to the wall inside will again only seat two. You can move the chairs from inside out, but in our house (Beaverit was only a tiny bistro table so four couldnt realistically eat at it.- There was a live music event with thumping bass until well after 10:30pm. We have young children and none of us could sleep through it. We were all exhausted and in a bad mood in the morning. This seemed very poorly judged for a small, peaceful campsite. None of the campsite guests from the field we were staying in appeared to be away attending the event, so it was just a separate pubic event and never mind about the guests. We were told of the event a few weeks ago, but it might have been nice to indicate it would be extremely loud and go on late so we could think to cancel our booking.- The toilet block was very rarely and/or poorly cleaned. The public had used it for the live event, and it was exceptionally messy in the morning when the campers were getting up and ready for their day. It was tidied up a little later in the day but not cleaned thoroughly, and the same bits of trash were on the floor throughout our visit.- The washing-up sinks were full of old food. Like someone had dumped ten cans of minestrone soup in them. We had to clean one out ourselves just to wash up. The other remained as filthy at the end of our visit so I guess no one was cleaning that / paying attention to that- The lights in the shower were motion detected; these detectors couldnt see you in the shower, so youd be plunged into dark while washing and have to go outside the cubicle to get the light back on.- You cant control the temperature of the showers, inexplicably. Its just on / off motion detectors. We couldnt wash our daughter during our visit as the only setting was scalding. As a side note, towels arent provided in the roundhouses. No warning was provided of that, but fortunately we did take some just in case. These negative y did outweigh the positives, which were:- the BBQ was large and robust, we were happily surprised with the quality. You need to provide your own tongs etc, which Im sure you always carry in your back pocket.- the roundhouses were clean and neatly decorated, and came with crockery, cutlery, kettle, fridge and a hotel style basket of coffee and tea etc.- a half-filled jar of birdseed was a cute personal touch. The personal feel was offset by a label on a book of local walks demanding money be paid if the book is even opened (just leave one for reference in the room, everyone will be opening it whatever the label says).- the restaurant was friendly and the food pleasant, I enjoyed the burger. Its pretty basic and certainly not a destination in itself, but handy to have if youre on the site- Theres plenty of parking everywhere, the site felt safe.- It was lovely to be surrounded by trees. Its great to have a large green space preserved in the middle of the site for the kids to play on.Hopefully this is useful information for future guests.

Just returned from a camping weekend here with my husband, its the first time we have stayed here, and I must say it was a fab weekend the staff are fabulous, very helpful, considerate and go out of there way to help, it rained Saturday evening and we were having a BBQ the staff managed to get us a table even though they were fully booked. We had an electric hook up for our tent, the pitches were lovely and facilities very clean, with a lovely hot shower, the only suggestion I would make is to provide a rubber brush, so after using the shower we can sweep away any excess water.

Good parking, and a popular place. Covered outside tables for meals, with plenty of chaffinches to finish off the crumbs. Perhaps a tad pricey for food, but as semi-outback make some allowance. Great for walkers.

Seems to have a few nice walks around, and even though some are hilly it’s mostly on stoned paths unless you go off beat a little, and absolutely lovely views from the top and you can see for miles even on not the clearest of days! When you’re out on the walk, we couldn’t believe how quiet it is, with no outside noise just hear the odd bird etc. So a nice place to get out and not see loads of people, but also enough around to say hi etc

Amazing setting nestled on the northern brook of the moors overlooking the fields and the industry of Teeside. A lovely old building offering tearoom fare. One gripe is the complete lack of vegan options. I know its a traditional tea room but they cater for walkers who have no other option but them so a tiny concession would be appreciated

Absolutely perfect place. Never had a bad bit of food here but I must say the roast dinner lacks in the amount of veg! But that does not mean a thumbs down. Other than that... amazing. Staff are fabulous also. Indoor and outdoor seating. Quite a busy little place surrounded by the best walk ways ever.

Stopped by having heard good reviews.Customer service was a bit abrupt and aggressive, the woman seemed to assume we knew this restaurants menu and exact interpretation of covid rules, we were a group so organising everything we wanted wasnt simple.Coffee whilst nice and very warm was in a very small takeaway cup. If memory serves it was biodegradable which is good to see but was the smallest takeaway cup Ive had.Its quite pricey and on this occasion thats price wasnt justified- my friend subsequently passed and commented the food was better.Maybe we had an off day? But I wouldt make an effort to return unless I passed it
