Longview Lake Swim Beach in Lenexa
Description
Privilege
Its just really fun!
Fun family beach. Very clean. Definitely come here for a day at the beach. Sunblock is a must tho!.
MoreFun beach in Missouri for picnic & water activities. They have shaded benches/tables for eating and you can bring your own food. The entry fee is $8/adult. Swimming and infalatables are allowed in the lake. You can also rent pontoon boats, jet boats, jet skis etc. Lifeguards also present.
MoreFun place to take the family for cheap. They also do movies on the beach during the summer.
MoreMe and my kids went and it is beautiful I love it we enjoy it and we will make this a thing for the summer nothing like having a beach right at home
MoreRemember this is a man made lake, in missouri. This facility has a camping feeling, in that it is not a ritzy city pool. I love it though. Showers, changing rooms, electricity to pump up inflatables, picnic tables, covered picnic areas. Sand volleyball. Cost is under 3 free, up to 15 kids rate 6$, adult 8$. Life gaurd on duty. Since covid they have not put up the floating water park area that cost extra, but now beach area is larger.I have never had any issues with staff or with any people on the beach that wasnt resolved in timely manner or respectfully.Thank you for having a beach available to public and not just for those in the "community".
MoreFirst summer coming here and we loved it! Even though it says they close at 7 pm they do have everyone get out the water at 6:30 pm because by the time people pack up and get cleaned and washed it’s 7 pm by then, so makes sense. I do recommend going early because for me an hour or 2 it’s just not enough.
MoreFirst we asked if we could use debit cards, and they said yes which we were excited about. After walking back to the car to get all our stuff we went to pay and she told us they had just cleared the water. I was there at 6:30, but she told me they closed at 7? Also, the sign says they close at sunset. The girl I spoke to wasn’t very friendly either. Definitely not a place I will be at again. Keep in mind, I drove over 2 hours to come check it out.
MoreDirty lake and the ppl were inconsiderate. Lifeguards didnt bat an eye as ppl littered (literally dropped a whole beer bottle), vaped and being incredibly loud. Found disgusting things in the lake. Regret going here
MoreI really love that beach 🏖️ it so beautiful it just my first time but I had a great time there
MoreBearing in mind this is a swim beach and not a resort, its really great for what it is. Theres plenty of sandy area to hang out on, and although there is no shade, its a really pleasant environment. The bathrooms were reasonably tidy and they have a foot wash area. I think this is a great place to take the family on the weekend, and we will be returning when the weather warms up.
MoreFun stuff. Evening in the freezing cold of winter.
Rowdy Ribbits Inflatable Aqua Park is here. $6 beach entrance fee. Rowdy Ribbits is extra but worth it. They have beach volleyball, nice swimming beach with bathrooms and changing rooms. Bathrooms could be cleaned better and more often, but other than that, its a nice beach.
MoreRouwdy ribbits is Expensive. $20/hour for kid or adult...? Seriously? Thats on top of the entrance fee.The place is run down. Theres no real effort at sun shelters. If I could make a recommendation, go elsewhere(even better, worlds of fun water park. We went there last week and the kids loved it there.)This place was just ok.But since we made the trek there, we stayed...I wont bother coming back though.
MoreThe beach itself is AWESOME for families. We are newer to the area and it’s been a great find this summer. My complaint is the bathrooms!!!! Rarely ever is there toilet paper, the toilets themselves are super gross and to top it off the bathrooms look like a scene from a horror film with all the spiders and wasps nests ALL OVER. People are charged to use the beach. I think the staff can clean the bathrooms.
MoreGreat to get away from the heat when in Kansas city Missouri. Nice inflatable activity obstacle course for the kids. Bring your tent, beach chair, cooler and the works for a picnic.
MoreThis beach area was very rocky and definitely needed some rock clean up. There were even large rocks in the beach area for kids. They did have a large inflatable area for kids and a small section for toddlers that looks fun. They both cost additional fee after the Park entrance fee but worth it in my opinion. I wish there was a concessions or shop area at this location, its very basic. We were allowed to bring food and drinks so that was great and there was plenty of staff around for swimming safety! Overall it was fine for a small outing but I would not plan a big day venture at this location. Side note they did have signs that they host birthday parties and special events!
MoreIt was great the day we were there. The kids and adults both enjoyed. The have senior rates. Didnt pay the extra for the extra activities for our group.
MoreMovie in the park was so worth all the fuss it took to get is there. The movie projection, room to lounge and time in the sand was enjoyable. The kids played, ate, and laughed right up to the start of the movie.... after which, the cool waters air got the best of is and forced us home before the movie ended.Next time we will pack extra clothes AND blankets.
MoreA pretty lake. Very big. It has a beach you can go to that costs a little bit of money. You can play on their blow up toys and their beach volleyball. The lake is pretty warm.
MoreStaff were very friendly, beach was clean. $6 for beach access.
This Beach area was the cleanest IV been to all summer. The water felt great. The staff was friendly. Only thing I found kinda frustrating was when we got there and went over to the blow up play ground its an extra cost. My problem was that it didnt say online that it would be an extra cost its $20 and HR per person to play. Had I know that I would have brought extra money with me. I tend not to take a whole lot of money or cc to a beach where Im in the water 90% of the time not able to keep an eye on my stuff. Aside from that it was a blast. Next time Ill be sure to bring enough $$ to try out the blow up play ground
MoreWe live near Truman lake and there are no safe beaches this year because of the flooding. My girls had a ton of fun.
MoreWish it was cheaper and pet friendly. There is a lot of room though. They play music and have an obstacle course that costs extra. $6 to get in for adults. No alcohol or smoking allowed. Otherwise pretty fun place!
MoreLots of goose waste on the beach. The restrooms could use a nice cleaning. There are showers and an area to wash off sand from your feet. The sand itself is on par with any beach in the area. Coolers are allowed to bring your own food. Half of the swim area is taken up by inflatables that cost extra, but there is still ample room to swim. It appears there is one life guard on duty at all times. Two volley ball courts. 4 picnic tables and some shade trees if you beat the crowd. $4 per child, $6 per adult.
MoreI dont enjoy that area, its smaller and crowded, but the kids love it. Its mostly for them anyway. But they do have the amenities needed, bathroom, showers, grass space you can put a little canopy on and I think a picnic table.
MoreHad a great time here. $6 each to get in was worth it. If you dont have a beach tent or some form of shade then best to get there early and pick out a spot in the shade on the grass under a tree before it fills up. The water was really nice and even though it was busy there was loads of space. The inflatable water park thing looked like good fun if you want to pay extra. Would definitely come back again but with a beach tent so we can be on the sand
MoreI was there for corporate challenge, so I cant really talk about the beach too much. It seemed nice. The sand is dark and tends to stain your skin, which seems odd.
MoreGreat night for Silver Screen on the Sand. Its a beautiful beach and fun watching movies outside after dark; like at the drive-in. Nice added touch was the free chips and buffalo cheese dip from Big Whiskeys served on a Frisbee and a drink.
MoreI had a inflatable drift outside of the swim area. Me being a confidant swimmer tried chasing it, the lifegaurds were alert and told me to stay in the designated area, after a little speech about possibly being fined and liabilities. My child had a blast and enjoyed the picnic at the lake.
MoreNot for toddlers or kids who nap after lunch. The "public" beach doesnt open until 11 AM and closes at 6PM. And its 6 dollars to get in. The privately owned and operated Rowdy Ribbits staff, is not very welcoming. Will not be returning. I could see how older kids would enjoy the floating park, not worth it for us however.
MoreI ran the Longview Half Marathon there last week. It is a beautiful place to run over the dam and around the trails. It was a cold morning and if it had been 2 weeks earlier the colors as you ran world have been gorgeous. Run there and find out.
MoreAttended a 5K walk/run at Longview Lake Beach. Ive lived in Kansas City all my life and this is the first time Ive been here. It was very beautiful, quiet, and expansive. There were many different types of trails including gravel and paved trails. If youre looking for a peaceful morning walk or jog then I would suggest this area.
MoreThe lifeguards dont pay attention to the swimmers! They are too busy taking selfies and talking to boys and girls they like, then to see a drowning child 15 feet from them. I wouldnt bring my family back here even if you paid me! The bathrooms are never clean and I see a staff of about 5 people standing around doing nothing. When we got there the girl at the front desk said the credit card machine was down, ok fine it happens. I run to get 20 dollars out of an atm and come back, to find out I need exact change or she can write my credit card number down and "run it later"!?! What are you kidding me!?! I am not giving ANYONE my credit card info and let you "run it later". I will not be returning ever!
MoreGreat local lake beach if you are wanting to stay close to Kansas City. The beach can get busy on hot day. There are also other activities to enjoy like the inflatable obstacle course. There is an additional fee for that.
MoreSeasonally there are baby sea turtle eggs that can be found way under the sand. When they hatch theyre so cute. Their blow up ride arr awesome and the life guards are cool.
MoreFun place to swim. Ignore the equipment in the water. It is not a park of the lake swim and costs extra. I wish the water was cleaner but it is a lake. Be prepared to have to clean your swimsuit of brown water for twenty minutes.
MoreNice beach with nice view, and clean. Reasonable prices but tease kids with this half block long inflated jungle gym for an extra $20 an hour. They let you bring coolers and snacks. Concessions are reasonable too. Nice weekend stop in the summer.
MoreNice sandy beach, bathrooms and small snack stand. Large swim area with a lifeguard. I have only been there on Monday’s and it’s not very crowded. There is a large blow up obstacle course area that I think you have to pay extra, I haven’t seen anyone on it.
MoreI had my daughters birthday here. Great customer service. Shore and water free of debris. Lifeguards continuously picking up trash. Great place for families. They really deserve a 5 but theres always that one person who ruins it for everyone. There was a very snooty lifeguard who worked there that kept making rude remarks when a question was asked. She also yelled at people to hurry up and finish using the hose that is provided to clean off the sand from your body at the end of the day. She literally snatched and said we needed to wait until she finished cleaning all the bathrooms. Other than that rude worker who made it clear she didnt want to work there everything else is great!
MoreReasonable price for super close lake day, easy going, no drama. Bring food and drink (no alcohol of courseand a blow up float for fun!
MoreIt was $6 a person for a beach swim. We only stopped because the kids seen the inflatables but the place doesnt tell you its another $20 per person per hour to use. Total watse of time should have just went to a water park and paid $9 for more stuff for the kids to do!
MoreI love this place! Its so close to home and yet so beautiful! Wish i could land a seaplane here.
MoreI was there for the annual KC Triathlon, great beach to swim at, a little small but a great place to learn how to swim in open or take friends and family for gatherings.
MoreThis beach is a great family friendly place to swim. There are volleyball nets and some grass areas to sit as well as plenty of sandy Midwest beach to out your blanket down. The water is usually pretty warm or cool, and really calm. The bathrooms are not usually clean, but its the beach so expectations on that should be low anyway.
MoreI had the pleasure of visiting Longview Lake Swim Beach during the Labor Day Holiday. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find that the place was not crowded, there was plenty of room to set up a beach blanket, and the water was enjoyable to swim in. It was nice to see other families around as well and I did not feel alienated due to my race (Black). The lifeguards could have been a little bit more polite- they certainly were not customer friendly (we were not greeted as we arrived and they only talked during the money transaction). The price online was $3 however, upon entering we were told the price was $5. Be prepared and bring snacks, water or juice. Overall, an enjoyable beach area perfect for children, family outings, or couples.
MoreGreat to hang out to swim bbq just injoy the fresh air
Checked it out when looking for housing. Bike and walking trails for miles. Nice facilities. Beautiful lake. Roads still need work after winter pot holes did their number. Mostly in center lines
MoreThis swim beach is a great location for families and friends to get out and enjoy the lake. There is plenty of space on the beach and in the water for everyone, and loads of parking. The area is clean and Ive enjoyed every visit.
MoreNot sure how to rate a beach as I dont visit beaches (at lakes or otherwisevery often. Its pretty clean and has sand.It didnt wow me so it does not get 5 stars.
