What an experience 💕 Better have a fire playlist going up, amazing trail with multiple terrains.. The ascend to the crater is tough but the walk around the crater cools you off while enjoying different sceneries and flora. Would definitely return to conquer the Mountain again.

An appointment not to be missed that we seized this Sunday morning with our family and our sons of 3 years, 6 years and 9 years. An intense walk with a breathtaking landscape, making our children discover this volcano was a dive into the culture, geography, a communion with nature. I highly recommend this breath of fresh air.

Its a nice place worth another visit.. For those who want to burn calories 10km awaits you.. For those who wish to test their endurance take the clockwise route....the route is well marked no need to hire a guide... Also ensure you carry a bottle of water

An absolutely gorgeous view, and not too difficult of a hike. It gets quite steep just before reaching the ridge, and hiking to the peak is a little sketchy at times. If you bring children to the peak, just be careful and help them along the dangerous parts. Definitely worth every second, the view is incredible.

It is a great place to hike. The view is quite breathtaking. Time preference is during morning hours to avoid the scorching afternoon sun. Entrance for Kenyan Residents is Ksh 250. Guides are also available if you need them.

Longonot offers a top hiking experience. Highly recommend for everyone to try it out. Put on proper hiking shoes, put on good socks. Carry sunscreen and a good hat or cap. It gets very sunny out there and dusty too. To be on the safe side, some rain jacket. The weather there springs surprises on you. Carry 2/3 litres of water preferably on a camelback. Plastic bottles are not allowed inside.

Great hike! Here are some tips:• Arrive no later than 8:30 on weekends to avoid crowds and peak heat (even earlier if circling the crater)• Took our moderately fit crew 3 hours to get up to the crater and down, without circling the crater• Hire a walking stick for 50ksh, it will make it easier on the way up and down• In normal weather, shorts and short sleeves will suit you• Avoid going after rains

Best place to hike. Tips: go there in the morning before the sun gets hot. Avoid carrying single use plastic bottles; they are STRICTLY not allowed. Takes a minimum of 45 minutes to get to the top if you fast hiker. And double to go round the crater. Carry some water and enjoy the satisfaction of getting to the top

Not a walk in the park for sure 😂, but the views are worthwhile and completing the whole circuit brings a sense fulfilment at the end of the day.It took us about an hour to get there from Nairobi, entrance fee was about Ksh250 for both Kenyan citizens and residents, the non-resident fee was about $20. Make sure to check out the exchange rate because you will be charged accordingly if you are not Kenyan or non-resident.Its about 13km walk to go up the hill, round the rim and back down to the starting point. Please make sure to carry lots of water because you will get dehydrated quickly especially on a sunny day, try to start your climb early, carry some food/snack with you if possible. A hat is also recommended to shield your face from sunburn. The park has been so kind to install some concrete steps for hikers and sandbags on difficult terrain, this makes it a bit easy but not entirely. If you are able to spend 50shillings on a walking stick please do so because they come in handy at some point. Sticks are readily available at the entrance of the park.Great challenge, amazing get away for family and friends, good exercise as well. I had fun, I think you would and you will 😊👍🏽

A great national park with absolutely beautiful views! The hike up to the mountain trail is even nice with a chance to see wildlife. The day I hiked here I saw zebra, thompson gazelle and hartebeest. The climb itself is a challenge (especially for those like me with no experience in higher elevation). However, most people in decent health should be able to make it to the rim and see a spectacular view of the crater and of Lake Naivasia in the distance. The trail around the rim is challenging but worth it to reach the peak. Definitely not a beginners trail with 3,400+ elevation gain.

Very impressive volcanic crater. The climb from the gate up to the crater rim takes about an hour. The circumnavigation along the ridge took about two hours. On hot days it can be unbearably hot up here between the volcanic rocks, so be sure to bring enough water. The view of Lake Naivasha and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. A guide is not necessary for the hike, unless you are interested in explanations about the local nature and the history of its origin, etc. Absolutely worth a visit!

Mt. Longonot is a fair hike if not easy. Actually I find it easy compared to other hikes I’ve done in the past. Took us less then 4 hours to go up the crater, round and back to the gate. We would have done it in 3hrs if we didn’t have a 8yr old girl who just amazing at this hike being her first major hike. Mt. Longonot is an easy hike if you’re reasonably fit 🏔

Its quite the challenging trail. We hiked for about 3Km then a 7.2Km trail around the crater. With a plain view of Lake Naivasha at the top. I spotted a 40cm snake crossing my trail🥺 I was scared. You could also spot a few zebras.*Carry water in water bottles avoid snacks and water/drinks in disposable plastic bottles*Its very hot, come with some light clothing and a hat 🧢.*Keep the park clean

An excellent hike for the beginners out there. Its self guided with clear trail and takes about 1½hrs or less to reach the crater and 3hrs to go round the crater.Advice;.Tackle the crater in the anticlockwise direction as its much easier and takes a shorter time to reach the peak.Have shoes with good grip and a hiking stickWill come in handy for going up and down the steep sections.Avoid going during the rainy season as the terrain will be really slippery.Get there by 10.30am if you intend to go round the crater so that you have ample time before it gets dark account for 5hrs.carry water and a snack

The hike is quite demanding, but a great experience especially if you choose to go around the rim (crater). The views and scenery are breathtaking. If planning to go around the rim, its better to do so with a friend. Carry enough drinking water (in reusable water bottles as disposable plastic bottles have been bannedand prepare accordingly to avoid sunburns especially on the face.

Excellent hike. It is a bit tough. I hiked to the summit and back in 2 1/2 hours with a lunch break. Beautiful scenery at the summit of the crater. I got a local guide but it is not necessary as the guide charged me $20 which I thought was a bit much.

It is the thing to do if you like outdoor activities. It is a short hike to the crater, but the view inside,as well as across the plain is awesome. For me it was must do, and I liked it better than the boat ride in the lake.

Breathtaking views and what an accomplishment! Read the below carefully..It’s a 2 hour drive from Nairobi, so get a cab which waits at the base and takes you back. A typical cab would take 60$ for the trip (12 hours)Entry fee into the park 28$ payable only be card.Stock your your water glucose drinks snacks, there’s no shops one your start.Takes about 2.5 hours to the crater and 1.5 hours back. Please let go of the idea of going around the crater, takes another 2 hours and it’s even more difficult that the way up to the crater. It’s very safe and doesn’t require a guide, but yes good shoes, cap, and enjoy the view of the Rift Valley now and then. It’s one of the highlights of the Kenya travel story, can try and club the lake Naivasha which is at the foot of this volcano.

This is a great hiking experience. Lots of up right away, then rolling hills on the rim trail. The only negative is the price, which is pretty expensive for non-residents. I like the trash policy for the amount of plastic in is the same amount out (if you want your ID back). It seems to be working.

Its a good place to climb. The trails to the top peak are invigorating, dusty and some places you need to exercise caution. Carry light as you climb, alot of weight may weigh you down. You can watch giraffes and zebras as you climb. The view of the crater is just magnificent..

What a beautiful place. The hike to the top is 100% worth it. Of your every I the area you should visit the park. If your up for it the go round the crater. For those off you who are even more daring get a guide who will take you to the crater floor. Its amazing and one for the bucket list.Theres a store up fill up with water, soda and snacks if your low. Theres also a camp site. Los of Zebras and antelopes to see.

Hiking beginners (well, to moderatecan take this one-day hike to satiate that curiosity to Mount Longonot, rising up to 2700m above sea level, and round the crater rim that also provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha. Hiking on this mountain takes approximately 2 hours from the Park Gate to reach the rim of the crater rim and descent back to the gate (if you exclude another two hours, going round the 7.2km crater rim.)Of course, along the way youre likely to meet some wildlife ie buffalo 🐃, zebra 🦓 and giraffes 🦒.

A lot of fun. Great but strenuous hike. Our guide was a bit indifferent about being with us and wasnt all too helpful, but the hike and views are incredible. If you decide to hike the full rim, note the trail is pretty rugged in a lot of places, especially after rains.

Moderate but not so moderate if you are planning to circle the rim. 3 km to the rim and 7.1 km around the rim. Beautiful scenery on your way up.The rim is not flat and has some up and downs to get to ngamia which is the highest point of the rim. Go to the right once at the rim for an easier finish because the right side is more steep while the left half circle of the rim is a bit level. Must be fit to attempt.
