London Wine Bar - Wine bar in London, Canada
Sensational..simply very good. The service was exceptional. The food was excellent and the music was very good. Its my favorite place now to have a good time
One of my new local favourites. Great vibe, with tasteful live music and decor. We tried a variety of cocktails / tapas and everything was superb. Highlights included the Whipped Ricotta Salad (one of the best salads I’ve ever had in Londonand the Steak Crostini. We also enjoyed the Patatas Bravas, Pear & Brie Crostini and Truffle Tapenade. They just released a fall themed cocktail menu which included Pumpkin Spice Smash and Pumpkin Pie Martini. Excellent service despite a full restaurant. Will definitely be back.
We were enjoying a few glasses of wine last night when they announced last call. At 11:00 sharp, the server said its 11 now, its time to go. What is up with that? Nothing like being able to wrap your evening up by chugging your wine.
Amazing place to enjoy our evenings: good food, beverage, music, and a perfect service.
Even if you’re not into wine, just go here for the food!
I’ve lived in this city for many years and have found no better overall dining experience than the London Wine Bar. I often have friends and family visit from overseas and bring them here when I want to impress them. A perfect experience every time!
Stumbled on this place knowing nothing about it and was very impressed. A delicious Dark n Stormy, excellent tapas, and a delightful server. A very nice find!
With high expectations my partner and I made a reservation for dinner at this restaurant. We dined several times at the former location in Wortley Village and just assumed the food would be as exceptional but we were very disappointed. First it was “jazz night” so naturally we expected at least a trio! There was only one man on an electric piano and that was it - very underwhelming. Next was the wine list - very disappointing for a wine bar. Worst was the food! It would appear food might have been prepared well in advance of opening as everything tasted awful. The beef dish was cold and I had to send it back. The shrimp tasted like rubber. I asked for some more bread and I was told not possible! The dinner menu is extremely limited. What happened owners of London Wine Bar? We vowed never to return.
We made a reservation using their email on the website. They confirmed for Saturday at 6:30pm. We showed up at 6:30pm and no reservation was found in their system. We provided the email and the hostess said we were out of luck and there was no effort to correct the mistake. It was very difficult for us to find another table and even more disappointing because we had high hopes for this place. I immediately emailed the same email. I emailed again a couple days later on March 22. I still have not received a response back….
I was really looking forward to coming here. Its my first time going out to eat since the latest round of restrictions were lifted. That said, I regretted it almost immediately. Our reservation was at 6, we got appetizers at 6:20 and then waited an hour for main course to come. They apologized for the wait when they brought the food and 5 minutes before as well, but thats and extremely long time to wait without any acknowledgement. The food itself was okay. The Caesar salad was the strangest thing Ive eaten. There was no bacon, mushrooms smoked instead. The green was kale which is a strong earthly flavour so the choice of using a vinegarette instead of a traditional creamy dressing was misguided.I got the pierogie flatbread for my main. It was average. The crust was excellent but the yogurt sauce was flavorless unfortunately so all you could taste was caramelized onions as the only other topping was potato. The people I was with got the pork belly which WAS good but the portion was miniscule. Also, the dessert was a disaster. It was Londonlicious so they had the option of creme brulee, mulled wine or cheesecake. I opted for cheesecake but it was ultimately a frozen Costco variety cheesecake with random raspberry coulis on top. My friend got APPLE cheesecake and it was covered in raspberry coulis. Misguided. Not only that the raspberries on the side were clearly not properly washed as they had a bug on their plate. Really not okay.Just terrible. I arrived hungry. And now Im leaving hungry and with a headache from the bad, extremely loud atmosphere. I wont be back.
We came to partake in the Londonlicious event. The "kale ceaser" was kale with some sort of vinagarette and mushrooms that were slightly smokey that were crisped to be bacon. Apparently ceaser is a concept because there was nothing creamy about the salad. Weve been here an hour and a half waiting for our mains. The second wine pairing became warm during the wait but I was told they were good pairings. Will mention the truffle stuffed mushrooms was fantastic as were the mains, when they finally did come. The pork belly was hands down the best for flavour of all the dish options but smallest portion if youre very hungry. Nothing on any of these plates would take an hour to make and they do keep apologizing for our having to wait so long. I understand none of this is on the servers. The desserts we got were the cheese cake and mulled wine. The mulled wine was fine but the cheesecake tasted exactly like those frozen cheesecakes from Walmart with an added rhaspberry compote, the tiny bug on the plate came free.. Why you would put a rhaspberry compote on Apple pie or pecan cheesecake is beyond me. All in all the apps, main, and dessert took 2 hours. Nothing we recieved was worth the wait or the price.
Nice little gem downtown London, great food and service. Top notch wines and cocktails.
Went there tonight with friends. Excellent food. Waitress was awesome. Highly recommend
I went to wine bar with two friends yesterday, where every other time I have been there it has been a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, this time our service was absolutely terrible. Every time our server brought our drinks she could not remember who ordered which drink, which was not a huge deal at first. Then she brought over a drink no one ordered. Fast forward to paying our bills, where we were the last table left as the restaurant was closing soon. She initially overcharged all of us by $20-$50 each, which we obviously noticed. She spent 15 minutes trying to adjust the bills, coming over with another round of incorrect bills telling us ‘to do her a favour and the bills are within dollars of each other’ so we can just pay these bills because it’s close enough (where they were again, all of the incorrect drinks for each of us on the bills). While at our table she also pulled OFF her mask to speak to us which made all of us uncomfortable. Then she proceeded to apologize and blame her coworker who had just left for making her uncomfortable while she was serving us. She told us she was actually a ‘competent server’ at her other job, if we were to see her there instead. All of us legitimately wondered if she was under the influence of something based on the service we had. Hands down the most unprofessional service I’ve ever experienced, which is a shame because every other experience I’ve had at wine bar has been lovely.
Had an amazing time here, the waitress was amazing and super helpful. The food and drinks were delicious
Hidden gem. Wonderful food and wine. Tapas is amazing! London Wine Bar was incredibly generous to the community throughout COVID lockdowns. #eatlocal #supportlocalbusinesses
I absolutely love it here. The staff are very knowledgeable about the wines. And the charcuterie boards are the best Ive had.
Great food and amazing service! The staff were so welcoming and the live music contributed to the perfect ambiance. I highly recommend going here.
Had the charcuterie board for two. It was the perfect amount of food and presented well even in a takeout container. There was a solid spread of different flavours of fruits, meats, and cheeses. I would highly recommend it for a nice picnic on the grass. If you’re looking for a great local place to support definitely order from here. Mario and Laura are running a great place!
Love this place! Always loved the food, atmosphere, friendly staff, and the wine. Now we get to enjoy takeout while looking forward to coming back after the pandemic!
I continue to be amazed! Moved to London 2 years ago and found this local gem. My wife and I order from the London Wine Bar at least twice a month. We like to think we have tried the entire menu by now, along with their weekly themed dinners. Food is always tasty and hot, and whether we pick it up or have it delivered, it is always served with a smile. I decided to figure out how to write a Google review specifically to give these hard working folks the shout out that they deserve! If you havent tried it yet, please do! Continue to support local, because after all, this is the type of place we want to be here when celebrating the end of lockdown. Thank you Laura and Mario, sincerely.
We ordered take out last night: pork belly flat bread, patatas brava and panzanelle salad. A good amount of food for two people, well priced and very delicious. Ordering and pick up was easy!
Ordered the charcuterie board for two and it was delicious! A perfect way to still have date night, but in the comfort of our own home during a time of social distancing. Order came at the perfect time, delivered right to our door, with a hand-written thank you card. Such a sweet and personal touch. Highly recommend ☺️
My boyfriend and I have enjoyed a few meals here over the years. The nightly deals are always great and when there is live music, it has never disappointed! The knowledge of the servers of the wine and food is always fantastic as well.Last night, we decided to order a bottle of wine and an app for delivery to take advantage of the new law allowing for liquor delivery. The service was fantastic and the wine was delicious! Please make sure to support this local business, it is a gem you dont want to miss!!
Fantastic! Food was amazing! Meatballs are delicious. Server was very helpful and sweet. One of my new favourite places. Live music was an added bonus.
Went for my birthday, and loved it! The owners have provided an incredible wine list, and a delicious menu. Excellent quality ingredients, and attentive service. The live music made it a special evening, and created a beautiful atmosphere. I strongly recommend going with loved ones!
We came here for the oyster special that they have every week. I will say that the restaurant itself was laid out very openly. The servers were attentive, but we had come quite early and we got to listen to them gossiping together at the desk, as it was pretty quiet. So that was slightly disconcerting. Also, the oysters - while tasty, we rent shucked very well. We encountered a whole bunch of shell bits, and most were still partially stuck to it. So that kind of sucked. Overall it was okay. But I dont think that its somewhere we will go again.
Came here for a date night to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday - this was the first time we had been and it exceeded all of our expectations!! Would definitely recommend for a date night or a girls night! The atmosphere was great for a date night - dim lighting & candles, great jazz-type music. Our waitress was super friendly and outgoing - she helped us decide on menu items to select, she continuously kept our wine glasses full, cleared the plates as soon as we were done to get ready for the next round of tapas, and was joking around with us all night. The food was AMAZING. Everything we got was absolutely delicious. We did a few rounds of tapas so we could try different things - would highly recommend doing this as youll want to try it all!! We started with the single charcuterie board, the brussels sprouts, and the pear & brie crostini (which they gave us for free as a sample!- all delicious. The charcuterie board had a great selection of fresh meats and delicious cheeses as well as fresh fruit and a melon cinnamon salsa (which was to die for). Our second round included the pierogies, patatas bravas, and a sausage and mushroom crostini - again, all amazing (we could have eaten 5 more orders of those pierogies - definitely get these!). We ended off with the roasted cauliflower, polenta fries (so deliciously crispy), and a capicola & pesto crostini. With each round of food, we were expecting something to be off - but it kept getting better and better. We were there until close and if they werent closing, we probably would have tried everything on the menu!!My only complaint - the menu in the restaurant is different than the one on their website. They have many additional things in the restaurant and dont have a few things that are listed on their website. One other warning - the bill added up pretty quickly and since it was tapas style, we didnt keep track of the cost and it was so easy to just keep ordering more - so were surprised when we got the bill. That was our own fault - would just recommend keeping track of what you order and the cost of each if you have a budget! We will definitely be back!!
Stopped in for a quick glass of wine before a dinner elsewhere and found it hard to leave. Amazing wine and they surprised my partner with a brownie and ice cream when they realized it was her birthday!
High quality food and wonderful menu featuring excellent tapas, chacouterie boards , flat breads to share. Wine list features by the glass in assorted sizes, or bottles to share. Live entertainment: awesome!!! You have to eat here. Reservation recommended
To say I love this place is an understatement. I am here weekly at the least. They have done so much with this place with the short time theyve had it. It goes without saying, but the wine is fantastic (even though I tend to stick to 1 type- they have flights so you can try many different kinds and find your one. But the food is also great, especially taking into account how small the kitchen is! Pure ingenuity! Probably the best charcuterie in town; the blue cheese used is dreamy. Oh they sell oysters! always a plus
Always super nice staff, good selection on wines - and they recently increased their food menu. Lots to choose from!Just be ready to chat for a while, very small and cozy place, so the kitchen can be a wait sometimes. One of my favourites, going to check out the wortley location someone soon.
Great environment for a first date, youll get alot of points. They had live blues when I was there and the food was simple but great also craft beers for you hipsters. My only complaint and this is personal only, is its a bit too formal.
A little on the pricey side but it is a great place for a girls night or a nice night out with a significant other. I have never stayed for dinner but my friends and I often stop in for wine and appetizers. The staff is extremely friendly and are great at making suggestions. Classy and intimate atmosphere. If you like wine its definitely a spot you need to try.
My first experience at London Wine Bar was during Londonlicious before an event at Bud Gardens. In my opinion, a bar offering a set menu in the downtown core should be able to successfully cater to event patrons, and this wasnt the case with us. We arrived just before 6pm for a 7:30 show planning to order from the set Londonlicious menu, so we assumed that would be plenty of time. We didnt get our appetizers from the kitchen until 7, even after our server had informed the kitchen that we had to be at the event for 7:30. Our server was great and did the best she could for us. But we were really perplexed at how long the kitchen took to serve us, given that our ordered appetizers were cold dishes and the whole menu we ordered from was set, so youd think the food should have been fairly well prepared in advance. I wouldnt come back here for a meal and especially not before an event, but its a cozy environment for a night of wine and light food if youre not in a rush.
A good first impression.I finally went to London Wine Bar after hearing great things from several different people. While I dont think the wine bar lived up to all the hype, I had a good first experience overall and would go back again. They have a good selection of wine at different price points and great service. They have a selection of different boards to choose from (charcuteriewhich were pretty good overall. They do have a larger menu available, but only on Wednesdays. I found this to be a bit odd, but luckily I wasnt that hungry. What I really enjoyed most about this place was the live music - paired perfectly with the wine.
I am baffled by all these 5 stars reviews! Overpriced, a menu with no effort, no taste and sub-par wine. This was a truly disappointing experience and it could be so much better. The ambiance is cozy and the atmosphere is romantic but with paper napkins, dirty dishes and unidentified black "things" in every glass of water, the charm fades away very quickly. I would avoid. Update: I just learned they do not have a kitchen in the back, why would you serve menus like a restaurant with no kitchen????
I’ve been here on two separate occasions. Both times and different waiters, I had the same terrible service. I can’t even finish my sentence without the waiter walking away. Lacked interpersonal skills and didn’t really seem to have any reaction or care in the world for us. The utensils were also dirty and the glasses he gave us for the water had crumbs and specks of dirt at the bottom of it. It also took some time to get our order taken, the food and our bill even though it wasn’t very busy and he was at the bar looking for something to do.The food was just good. I think it’s pretty overpriced for what you get. I paid $5 for three button mushrooms with bacon bits in it and $7 for creme brûlée in a mason jar smaller than the average ramekin. In conclusion, I probably wouldn’t come back.
I went here for the first time with my husband after our anniversary dinner. We are both big into wine and this place is a great hidden gem. The wine list is great and the food they have is great for pairing. I have not tried the food yet but will the next time I am there which will be soon!
Nothing not to love about this place. The owner always greets us with a smile on her face. The food and wine are always excellent and the atmosphere is unlike anything in London. Perfect for a great night out or just to hang out with your girlfriends.
I absolutely love this place. The wine list is amazing and always changing. The prices are very fair. I really enjoy the charcuterie boards because the meats, cheeses, and fruit are out of this world. The atmosphere is laid back and relaxed during the week and weekends are filled with live jazz and blues music. Try to get in the wine club!
I was in London for a business trip and stumbled upon the London Wine Bar. It was the best dine in experience I had during my stay. The staff - from the cook, to the server, to the manager - were all outstanding. The wine was phenomenal, food was delicious, conversation was great and service was exceptional. Very comfortable and cozy environment! Thank you for making my stay that much more enjoyable !! I know Ill be hitting this place up anytime I am in London in the future !!!
To say that London Wine Bar is my favourite restaurant in town would be a huge understatement. The food is out of this world (the salmon trio and baked brie are two of my favourites& their wines are always ones that Ive never heard of before but always LOVE. I go almost every weekend and the staff has never been anything but extraordinary - super helpful, super down to earth people! Cant wait to try out their upcoming events! 10/10 would recommend (and doto anyone who asks!
Have been to London Wine Bar multiple times and every time has been a wonderful experience. The staff are great, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is like no other in London. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice night out with family, friends or a first date. They even have plenty of gluten-free food options which is a huge bonus!
went here last weekend for the live music, it was great! such a relaxing atmosphere. I went with 3 of my girlfriends and we had a blast. their food is so yummy and great to share with friends. we made a reservation because they are a popular place on the weekends and its obvious why! we each had a flight of wine and their variety is great, not to mention the prices are very affordable. would certainly go again!
Ive been waiting for something like this to open in London! Very intimate space and comfortable atmosphere. They have a great selection of wines and beautiful artisan boards to pair with them, including vegetarian options. If going on a weekend night I would recommend making a reservation.
I love the London Wine Bar! Its a great, comfortable environment for everyone from new wine drinkers (no pressure or judgement! You can ask as many questions as you need), to the experts. I really enjoy the live music on the weekends as well. Perfect place to bring friends and family for wine, local meats and cheeses, and even dessert :Thanks to the helpful and friendly staff.
London needs more locations like this. The atmosphere is perfect for a couples night out or a night out with a small group of friends. The live music on the night I went was a perfect accompaniment to the wine and food which were also amazing. I cant wait to go back. Someone told me they have a wine club so Ill have to look I to that for sure might help me get back a little more often.
Very lovely experience. Staff were amazing and personable. We asked to have some of the glasses blind to test our palate, and they were accommodating and playful. Great service, great food platters - Artisan board is a must try!
This is a unique new experience in London with the best wine list in the region, local craft beer and fresh, locally sourced foods for their charcuterie boards. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the patio is a wonderful addition on lovely summer evenings. The decor is welcoming with surprising features and a comfy lounge. Also a great place for a cup of coffee.
