Lola ya Bonobo in Basoko

They are doing great work here rescuing bonobos, rehabilitating and reintroducing them into the wild.

Great place to walk around and see the apes in the natural habitat. Easy to walk around and we saw lots of apes. They need your support so please visit and see these wonderful apes.

Spectacular!! Its been a fabulous experience walking along with Guide Bliss (maybe I spelt wrongand the knowledge earned about these highly endangered species. Each enclosure and their inmates are so responsive to chats by their caretakers that it makes it such a beautiful and interesting watch.. The dormitories are unbelievable and its so satisfying to see them getting nourishment and care... I loved every bit of it and thanks to my brothers from the biking fraternity of Kinshasa..Oh.. Possible to visit again since August 2020, however due to Covid pandemic you have to wear a face mask and plastic visor (USD5 for both if you don’t have your own). In the heat it gets a bit uncomfortable but during the walk when one is not even in view of a bonobo we took it off. Upside of the the pandemic is that one does not have to wait until 11.30 for a tour - one gets private visits. Guide was knowledgeable, tour given in French. The most interesting part is probably watching the surrogate moms with the young bonobos.

Very informative. Be prepared for over 2 hours of walking and multiple steps. They actually open at 11:30 though we went based on the time advertised here and had to wait.

my son who was 9 at the time was at congo and they kept asking for his money his only 9 leave him alone

I paid 10 USD, Im not sure if thats good or bad but dont pay more. Place is a remarkable nature park, just walking around the wonderful grounds is terrific. The Bonobos themselves are a marvel in playfulness and primate intelligence. Super fun to watch them mark territory and throw stones, just be careful!

Definitely worth visiting when in Kinshasa. Great work they are doing and beautiful setting.

These people have done a great job preserving and protecting these animals. Especially when considering the political atmosphere and the poverty of the DRC. I was impressed by their facilities and the attitude of their staff. Knowledgeable and very passionate about their work.The road that brings you here can be a little dicey and I would recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle and experienced guide. Especially during the rainy season.

This park is amazing, you will meet the bonobos who only live in the Congo. They are protected in this sanctuary as they endangered by poachers.As a fact they are the closest to humans DNA.

this is really terrible place.first: it is just a normal zoo.it is not really wildlife.they keep the bonobo somewhere.make a electric paling.then give them some food.then make moneys.it is no any diffrent with any other city zoo.second:the ticket conuter is terrible.only collect money.didnt tell me i can have guide for free.the other staff is ok.third:there is four group of bonobo.our guide only showed us three of them.but before i met the guide.i visited another group of bonob.many toueist dont know about this.i saw another big group also didnt go to that direction.because at the bigening i dont know we have guide.so i just walk around.thats how i found another group of bonob.there is a big bonob.but they dont show to other tourist.only collect ticket money.this is like cheating!as another coment said:she donate 240 usd.but never received one thank you.if you want see animal.just go to marsai mara.it is not worth come to lola ya bonobo.

Greatest experience in Kinshasa! Definetely worth the visit, it is a must not only for Nature lovers and Animal curious, but for every single human veibg, to understand the amazing effort done here by all the Staff and Mrs André, as well as the importance of nature conservancy all over the World. It waa a very powerful afternoon!

Entrance is 10 usd pp , closed mondays , several visits per day but at strickt hours , visit takes +/- 2 hours.

Heaven

A must see in Kinshasa. They have preservers around 100 bonobos here in a great natural habitat. They guides are really knowledgeable and friendly. There is a small shop to buy a coke or drink and some souvenirs. They have a nursery for baby bonobos who are abandoned and have lost their mothers. The road to the sanctuary is nice ( not so much different than roads in the DRC). The ticket is $10 for tourists.

Lola ya Bonobo, literally means Paradise for Bonobo. In my opinion, it is a sanctuary for the endangered species. You do need a guide to get into the premises but once in you can pretty much roam around. It is located in Les petites chutes de la Lukaya (Lukayas small Fallswhere you are free to have a picnic on the grounds. Will definitely recommend this.
