Lok Virsa Heritage Museum in Kālābāgh

Such a nice family spot. The museum is really well kept and takes about 30 minutes to tour.

Its one of the most beautiful place for me because there is a reason behind that & do you know why? It holds a true depiction of our culture also the antiques for some extra knowledge. Other than that as a professional photographer I find this place its on aura a feeling which could only be felt and seen by a artistic eye.

Very nice place to get information about different societies and cultures of Pakistan.

I usually go visit the shops outside or the theatre inside for concerts. So the shops have a lot of handicrafts ranging from shawls to jewellery and books. They’re a bit expensive, but so is everything else in Islamabad. Nonetheless we should support local artisan. The theatres have a good seating plan to accommodate almost 1500 people. Time and again concerts take place like recently Mekaal Hasan band and Hasan Raheem came to perform. The best part is murals on the wall- which are magnificent.

I was pleasantly surprised with this museum! Its very big, very well organized and you get to see all regions and history of Pakistan! Absolutely beautiful! Highly recommended! Also has many mini shops for souvenirs!

As Pakistan is a country of many nationalities, it has different shades of culture. All these colors are collected in Folk Heritage Museum(Lok Virsa MuseumIslamabad. The museum is based in a separate sections that preserves the lifestyle, dress and poetry of the nationalities, which is worth visiting. If a foreigner visiting Pakistan wants to see the collection of different cultures of Pakistani nationalities, the Folk Heritage Museum is a bouquet to which many garden flowers have been added.

A good family visit but enjoyed more outside than inside the museum. Inside there was no air conditioning, very hot and we werent allowed to take drinking water in. How is that environment enjoyable or conducive to learning? Displays were interesting but poorly labeled. I would have loved to see a book shop there with books about the culture of Pakistan.

Well maintained place with lots to see and experience.Excellent food stalls and shops in the courtyard.Enjoyed great desi breakfast with Fresh Makaii Roti, butter saag and Lassi.

A great experience marred by frequent power outages and no backup power. We waited outside for the power supply to resume, and went in the moment the power came back. Midway through the visit, the power went out again and we were stuck in the dark, made our way out with the help of guards shining the way out using their phones flash light. There is poor maintenance as well, a lot of wooden fixtures have been eaten up by termites.

Anyone interested in museums must visit this place. It is a true representation of the diverse cultures we have in the country. There are lots of souvenir shops as well within its premises which makes this place all the more attractive for the tourists.

museum with my school trip. It is very important in the history of Pakistan. The sculptures of our leader and other important people are beautifully done like the division of the subcontinent before the eyes. The movie is playing great! 🤩❤️

LOK Virsa Heritage Museum, Islamabad, Lies in the Capital City Of Pakistan. A wonderful place to visit if you love to see some heritage of culture, here you will not only find Provincial heritage but from all four cultural Materials.

A good place to visit, suggest is to go in better season like winter or pleasent weather day. It is usually hot inside.DSLR is not allowed and photography is permitted with your Mobile phones.For visitors having difficulty in walking or aged people they must bring their original ID card to borrow wheel chair from entrance.Its paid and you have to buy a ticket before entering.Overall I must grade this 7/10

Visited 4 years ago. Great experience there.You can taste multiple cultures, customs, history with visual depiction. Pakistan History, Famous personalities, Incidents, Iconic moments are depicted there. In short, a comprehensive package of Pakistan.

Went here first time. So wonderful. Live folk music outside and a wealth of life through the ages in the museum. A must for anyone interested in how cultures developed through the ages.

Highly recommended...What a phenomenal experience it was! Totally loved the environment, cultural exposure, the linkage with different countries. It was totally worth the visit. Something that is quite uncommon in Pakistan.... It enlightens our cultural importance, our nations values. Do bring your children along with your families, really adds to their knowledge. Cultural souvenirs are also available. The food quality and variety was awesome.

One of the best places to visit in Islamabad. If you are in Islamabad, you must visit and explore the history of Pakistan and surrounding nations.

I was accompanied with my aunt and as an art lover and sociology student she loved this place. I dont feel myself inclined towards these things yet I enjoyed exploring the place. Worthy visit for anyone with family or kids.

This museum went above and beyond my expectations. I really didn’t think it was going to be as thorough and detailed as it was. It honestly just kept going and going whereas I thought it was just gonna be a tiny showroom.I like how they have a refreshments section as tbh after that really long walk through the museum, you’ll definitely need a drink or two and something to eat.The souvenirs are pretty expensive from a locals POV but if you’re a tourist, it’s a total bargain.The only thing I wasn’t too keen of was their horse riding feature. For a certain amount, they’d let you ride a horse around the vicinity. I’d normally be totally down for this as I love horses but the horse was in such bad shape it was cruel and inhumane.I don’t want to support this type of animal cruelty. The horse was so weak that it wasn’t even tied up yet it didn’t have the energy to move.It also smelled really bad and you could tell something wasn’t right even a mile away. I hope someone could look into doing something for the poor baby.

This is very good place to visit our heritage of Pakistan.You will get clothing of all provinces.Specially museum is well managed.Food court quality is not good as expected

We really amazed to see how beautiful lok virsa was on hand the musicians were performing their play and on the other hand food street . When we entered the museum, we found everyone was friendly by nature. I have attached the picture so you can see and enjoy your weekend there 🫶🏻♥️

If you want to know about the different cultures of Pakistan as well of those who have immigrated here, this place is a must visit. The place is clean and a nice path is set out for you as a viewer to see every part of the museum. Would love to see the artefacts in somewhat better lighting though.There are shops in the vicinity for souvenirs which are also a great addition to the place.

Recently on our visit to Pakistan we went to Lok virsa. Very beautiful and clean , organised and nicely set up.. you get to see culture from all the provinces of Pakistan and many other countries.Security and management is great. It can get very busy due to school trips and on weekends as local families visit . There is sometimes queue on entrance due to security check but generally its ok , not a very long wait.You are not allowed to take drinks inside and its kept out at the entrance for you which is a good step to keep it tidy inside.If you have a baby then you might want to make a bottle and feed them outside before going in or just make milk to take with you and leave the rest outside.You also have local shops in the premises and famous artist Hanif Khan is based in the premises if you want to see his work or purchase.

Depicting the heritage and culture of the indus civiluzation society and all its neighbouring territories and their customs. This is a huge museum with a vast collection of artifacts, fabrics, vintage daily use equipments, old clothing styles and fashions especially the womens jewellery. Evefything displayed is artistically marvelous and very helpful in attaining a visual glimpse of the past life days bygone. Museum is perfectly displayed and kept upto mark. Staff is also helpful in guidance.

This is the principal seat of national culture with its extensive campus housing a heritage museum, a cultural library, shops selling paintings, handicrafts, traditional garments....a must visit for any visitors to Islamabad

Nice museum, containing of very diverse scenes in which you can see how people used to live, work, create art, sail, herd their cattle or just enjoy themselves. It isnt big but take your time to read the explaining signs and take your time to watch the detailed scenes. Outside youll find shops with authentic, handcrafted hats, bowls and other artefacts. Worth a visit!

Its a great effort to show not only the culture and traditional arts and crafts of Pakistan but is the surrounding countries as well.Very well thought out and planned. It was well maintained as well.A great place to take your kids and especially your foreign friends to show them all of Pakistan under one roof.Although there is still room for improvement (there always isIm giving it a 5 star rating because its refreshing to see something like this in Pakistan!

A tremendous place which surprised me alot. After visiting Pakistan Monument Muesum, we had some time before going to bus terminal for Swat, so we decided to check Lok Virsa Muesum too (because we love to get knowledge about history and culture). There was a ticket of Rs. 100 for the muesum, and its worth. The first thing which I delightfully captured in my camera was an Accessible ♿ Ramp for wheelchairs for the muesum, means the place is ♿ Accessibility-friendly.After entering the muesum, we just reached in another world. Statues of Wax Museum were representing traditions, Cultures and Customs from each and every part of Pakistan. Our plan was to spend here just 30 minutes, but it took two hours to visit just a half muesum because we were reading the traditional stories and facts at every box of the muesum.For us it was an unforgettable experience to see whole Pakistan under one roof ❤️🇵🇰

Visited the ongoing annual lok virsa cultural festival. This year its as fun and colorful with a wide variety of shops and cultural performances. The festival is on till the end of this week and its a must visit.Things are a bit more expensive now then they were before tho due to high rental of the stalls.

Heritage Museum. also known as Lok Virsa Museum is a museum administered and managed by Lok Virsa - National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage. It is a museum of history and culture in Islamabad, Pakistan, located on the Shakarparian Hills showcasing the living cultures of Pakistan. The museum opened in 1974 and became an autonomous institute in 2002. The museum consists of several buildings as well as an outdoor museum which can accommodate up to 3000 visitors.This museum is highly recommended to school teachers to arrange and plan their field trips so that their students can learn to appreciate art, culture and their heritage. A great place to visit for families and their out-of-town visiting guests.All the best

A nice place to reflect upon various cultures of Pakistan. Neat and clean. Visiting it during covid could have be daunting but it wasn’t crowded. If you have interest in culture and history this place definitely offer something to take away with you.

Best museum espacially for foreigners to see the all cultures,traditions and customs from all of our provinces of Pakistan. I took our American Guest there and he really loved it.

Brilliant place to visit in town, exceptional demonstrations of multiple cultures and tribes. The culture wise demonstration is well placed, few shopping sites showing heritage items in bit higher prices. The entry fees is 50 for adults and students allowed to enter at 10 but admission card of educational institute is mandatory to avail discount.

Feel so good to see this Museum in my country.Its not so big but have detailed information about everything they had. Lovely experience.Extremely inspirational and every Pakistani must visit. It has been maintained very well by the Pakistan army. The history has been maintained and presented in the most unusual way simulation with sounds and sights.Long live Pakistan!

Went early opens around 10 oclock fee is 50 rupees entry into museum lovely plc but they didnt have the air conditioning on and it was boiling also they make u wear a mask but once in side u can take it off. It was a put off due to the staff there were arrogant security guards and the ticket guy was awesome and very friendly
