Colorful spot for set-price or à la carte American dinners & brunches served during drag shows.
I went during Halloween weekend this was my first drag queen show experience. The service was very attentive and my drink was never empty. The food was also good and had large portions. The performers are incredibly talented! I wasn’t celebrating anything but lots of birthdays and bachelorette parties were in the house. They brought them up on stage to take photos and was very inactive with the crowd. Extremely fun night! Highly recommend bringing extra cash to tip the amazingggg performers (they do have $1 bills if you need to exchange also a ATM on site!!
Celebrated my birthday here and we had a great time! I will be coming back because Id love to see the show during the week.
My friend took me for my birthday... it was awesome and the show was fabulous
First time at a drag show and I had so much fun! The queens were fabulous, talented, and incredibly funny. Taking a star off just because the food and drinks were meh, but you’re there for the show more so than the dinner so it’s fine. A great place for a bachelorette party or birthday as well. I would highly recommend coming here for your first drag show!
Me and my coworkers went here yesterday the ambience was very nice the show felt very rushed the food was OK I will agree with some of the other reviews that it is very money driven they do expect tips and they do you charge a 20% gratuity. The only positive thing about the whole time we were there was Empress Vizcaya, she was incredible and if I could just go there to see her perform I will pay all the money in the world. Would I give them another shot probably not I feel like it’s very overpriced for what they’re giving you and it felt very rushed and to be honest most of the performers seemed annoyed with us even being in their presence. And let me make this clear don’t nobody come for me and these comments when it comes to reviews I’m a huge supporter of the LGBTQ plus community but they all had a nasty attitude in this building and I don’t pay any money for nasty attitude is the same feeling I would have if somebody worked as a cashier at a grocery store if you don’t like your job by all means get another one and they seem very annoyed with the fact that they were even performing for us so again I would not spend my money here go elsewhere there are plenty of other wonderful drag shows throughout Manhattan and the performers probably actually care about performing
Unbelievably fun!! The broadway and show-tunes were all bangers- the servers/performers were VERY talented! Shiny Penny and all of the other beautiful queens that work there made our day! THANK YOU!!!
Joined a dinner and show when in NYC - great night out. Ladies were fab-u-lous. Dinner is served very quickly so don’t linger over the food!
I went here with a few other ladies. The show was awesome! I loved the vibe. The Queens were fun and full of energy. I had shrimp alfredo with green peas it could of been better. The drinks were nice and strong I had a great time.
We had a lovely time at Lips. We attended on a Sunday and the Queens did work very hard and it is truly a family run small business. Food was decent and the show was lots of fun - I was made to get up and dance!Generous cocktails but it took quite a long time for us to get the bill sorted, and there was an emphasis on tipping! Not that there’s a problem but just increase the show fee and pay the queens more, the ongoing requests for tips very slightly ruined the show for me. But must emphasise we did have a good time and would recommend going on a Sunday evening. The queens were so polite and helpful and really made the night for us.
I had such a wonderful time with my friends, can’t wait to go back. Everyone was so fabulous and so sweet. The show was amazing, the mimosas were flowing endlessly, and the food was quick and great.
We really expected to see some sort of show. Instead the performers were on stage for 30 seconds then spent the rest of their time running around collecting their tips while singing. Was disappointed. Food was not good but wasnt expecting it to be. Drinks were expensive. Dinner, one drink and the show were over $100.
First, I have to say, this place is great! The entertainment is amazing, the staff are awesome, the drinks, and the music are great too. However, the food is 3.5/4. The first time the chicken and waffles were good but the chicken was dry and bland. The second time I visited, I ordered steak and eggs over easy. Over easy clearly means the yoke is runny not solid. When we cut into the eggs all the uncooked, slimey, white of the egg leaked out to half the plate and under the steak. I have to admit it was gross. I could’ve eaten it with a spoon if I liked raw eggs. The waitress was so sweet and kind and offered everything but I was satisfied with the steak and potatoes. I don’t like anything after a complaint when it’s food either way. That was raw not over easy at all and very disappointing. I’m glad the steak and potatoes were perfect. It was very congested and disorganized outside at the entrance too. The line was everywhere and the customers that had just left were lingering directly in front of the place which almost caused an altercation because one lady kept bumping into another one. When I went there a month ago for the first time we were allowed to take pics and now, suddenly, an announcement was made that pics could not be taken during the show which was a bit disappointing too but understandable. Lastly, the picture for the bday is a disaster. It’s not centered, the drag queen was cut off on one side, and the angle made them all look sick which included my guest. The reason is because the lazy worker who takes the pics conveniently sits on the stairs instead of standing up and taking the pics with care. These pics are not free. Both times I’ve been there, he just sits there and holds the camera up sideways. Seriously?….We expected Ginger Snaps to be there but she wasn’t there. ☹️☹️☹️🙄🙄🙄Chandelier and the other ladies rocked it out though.Again, the drinks, the music, the place itself, the cleanliness, and most of all, the entertainment are great!! I would definitely return and I definitely recommend it. Awesome!!!!10sssssss across the board!!♥️
Ah-Mazing!!! Incredible experience, uber talented Drag Queens, delicious food and tons if fun! Lips New York was a highlight if my first trip to NYNY 🙌
Nice atmosphere and good food, I just wish there was a little more performing and less of the tip taking! It seemed like that’s all this show consisted of.
I honestly love all things drag show but this felt like a rushed, under budget, shakedown. The entire show was 45 minutes to an hour and there was little, if any real “drag.” Each act would spend little to no time on stage before jumping into the crowd to collect dollar bills (I kept asking myself, “for what, they haven’t done anything yet- no dancing, no humour, no tricks etc.). The waiter was the talent, the cashier, the dj, the light show specialist and more. The entire production felt dishonest, advertised as a “dirty show” when it was barley even PG (someone was asked to lick a cupcake..big woop). If you want to spend 100+ dollars on a tiara and some bad chicken, this show is for you.
Absolutely brilliant drag, but the food is appalling. My advice - eat before, order minimum spend on food on something like spinach dip, and just enjoy the show! This is pricey compared to other drag venues for sure, but its super inclusive if this is your first time! If willing to forgive the food, you will love this! Shiny Penny is a particular highlight, and Tuesday karaoke is very fun!
The Broadway Brunch at lips was great! Empress was a wonderful waitress and never let our mimosa pitcher rub low. The show/bottomless brunch was worth the price of admission. I would recommend this show for anyone. undefined #buzzybooth
1000000% love love love - we came here to have some fun and leave all our stress behind to be entertained by a few girls and that we did - price is extremely fair for the entertainment and food we got - Tiffany and co was our host and she was absolutely gracious and welcoming and checking in on us all the time - really enjoyed it - this is a must for anyone visiting New York especially for birthdays and bachelorette parties - will definitely come back
My First time here and it was a cool experience. Went for a buddys Birthday Celebration. The food was good, hot, fresh the space was a little tight on the evening that I was there but it appears that everyone was having a nice time. The drag host was kind, funny and continued to ensure our needs was met. The bar is located to the right and the bathrooms was located upstairs. A comfortable place for All
Went for my Anniversary yesterday and I must say I had a good time. The staff was very polite and pleasant our waitress I believe she said her name was Tiffany was great she did a very good job as Britney Spears.Overall I would definitely go back they most definitely work hard for there money.keep up the good work ladies 👍👍👍👍👍btw ordered burger was excellent and fries were hot and crispyComplements to the chef as well.
Absolutely amazing performances. I highly recommend. Oh, and the food is good too.
Such a fun night. We had such a great time! Twiggy Malone was our FAVE!!!! Absolutely incredible. The food is… fine. I would rather not have dinner and just enjoy the show!
Would not recommend this place! The waiters (drag queenswere very rude. At first I thought it was all part of the show but absolutely not they are very rude terrible customer service and they rush the whole experience starting from the dinner all through the show. Definitely not worth the money way to expensive for the service that they offer!
Went to the R rated late show — the queens were good… however it felt very grabby for the tips and the queens didnt seem to care to actually entertain the crowd…. Would not come back… also.. they allowed a lot of drunk crowds to come im which took alot from the experience since they were swinging off my chair while our group was trying to enjoy ourselves…. Really disappointing and would not recommend this spot as “best place in nyc “as other reviews say. The drag queens are very sweet with a general fun environment.
We had a ball. I took my sister for her 50th birthday 7 uears ago and we are still talking about the show. There were men and qo.wb in the group. Mostly nieces and nephews . My sister had re entry loss her husband and needed to celebrate her birthday. Great ti.e had by all. Food, fun, drinks and a show. It was great!!!
Personally would never return to this place unless they changed some things. Way too money focused. Automatic 30% gratuity charge which they hide from you. Audience is well.. either young or idk naive. (I can’t even say they’re mostly tourists because it’s such a tourist trap most of the audience I was surrounded with was actually from NY ( but mostly the Bronx so maybe that makes sense.. beware this place is focused heavily on young girls celebrating their birthday, Or a bachelorette ( no friend should ever let their girlfriend have a bachelorette here. Who wants to share this day with 4 other 20 something year old birthday girls ? This place is def not worth the price currently. They automatically include nearly a 30% gratuity which IS a hidden charge, & is ridiculous because on their website it says 20% suggested tip. This is clearly a lie. but on top of this during every short performance the performer goes into the audience to collect money. Just about every table would give out cash every time. It feels awkward if you don’t but it just shouldn’t feel necessary to even give cash when there’s a overly generous forced tip included at the end ? I didn’t realize it would be similar to a strip club without the stripping. Perhaps specify this somewhere on your website or to guests when they enter. I was expecting just a dinner & show. It’s a shame because some of the entertainers seemed to have potential.. i actually found some of the show to be quite funny. This was literally the only upside though. It’s obvious the staff is desperate for cash and it just takes away from the experience. Maybe covid impacted them idk, NYC is unfortunately just too expensive for everyone but I literally felt like I was in Egypt with the way they pressed for tips. So yeah, it’s not a high class place or something. Just an over priced semi comedy show with some dancing and money grabbing, with food included ( at least )
Spent $460 for 3 people to watch the show, eat dinner, have drinks, and tip the queens. (We got two frozen drinks, and one buttery nipple eachThe experience was not worth almost $500. Half of the show was just people who’s birthday it was going up on stage and taking a photo or having a “catwalk contest”. It felt like so much forced clapping after the 7th birthday and catwalk contest. We saw only maybe 30 minutes of the drag queens unenthusiatically performing. It was like an adult Chucky Cheese. A burner show that once you see it, you have no reason to ever go see it again. Dinner was served quick, but was just okay. The whole experience felt very artificial. My advise: go spend your money on dinner/drinks anywhere else you want. And then go see a drag show at a bar with cheap cover.
we went in with no expectations because it was our first drag show but wow was it a super exciting experience! the food (in reference to the main entree, the salad and cookies on the other hand, were nothing specialwas surprisingly very delicious and so were the drinks. drinks were a little expensive but as are most places that serve alcohol at a show. you also get a cute lip shaped shot glass to keep as a souvenir. a super fun first time experience, definitely recommend going with friends, as a girls night out, or events like birthday/bachelor/bachelorette parties as they have a special moment for brides, grooms, and people who are celebrating their birthdays. our host was lovely and all the staff were very attentive! just note the mandatory 20% gratuity added on the bill already.
DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!We were very excited to try our first drag show and paid 70$ per person for it with 20% mandatory gratuity. The red headed lady serving us named Gigi was RUDE at best. She gave us eye rolls when we asked for hot water. The entertainers didn’t seem welcoming at all. MEDIOCRE performances and TERRIBLE food. TIPS for you: Take your time and business somewhere else.
You make a reservation in advance, then pay for your food and drinks and enjoy the show in person . Bring singles to tip!! Food was good ! I had the salmon! Drinks were ok, not that strong to me. You’ll notice that the performers where different hats -they may take your food order, perform on stage, and work the bar. The one who performs as Beyoncé and Ariana Grande were decent performances. Some moments were nice but definitely felt rushed, such as the birthday shoutouts. This could be a better place if they varied the dancers with fresh faced more energetic ones. I still had a good time, but I would not return.
Definitely fun atmosphere!!My first time going and i absolutely loved it!!Everyone was very nice from the managers to all the queens there.. the lady at the door ariana was very sweet..I had such an amazing time.. all performances was greatThe food was good. I will definitely come back here agian.Such a great vibe !!!! And special shout out to our server/drag her name was ALL BEEF PATTY!! She made sure we was good with everything .
The show was very fun but the dinner/drinks were just okay. I see a lot of comments saying the show was rushed but I actually liked the speed of everything and thought it was the perfect length.
Went for the 1st time. Not impressed. Entire experience felt rushed. From moment I walked through the door, being seated, to food order and drinks. The food was surprisingly very good as was the drinks. Drinks not cheap and for the size, not really worth it. The performances were not that good. Cheesy best described them. Over all not worth the price.
My friend & I went for the Brunch Show and it was Fabulous!!!!!!!! The food was mehh. Not bad, just not great, but whos going for the food? I had no idea that the servers were also the performers so kudos to the double duty. The $6 bottomless Mimosas & Bloody Marys are an excellent deal, and theyre not watered down. Ginger Snapt was the MC and was hilarious. The energy was amazing and I will definitely be going back.
We visited to have some fun, and we did! I loved the burger i ordered. The drag queens were such a great treat, giving us so much reason to be happy and feel great! They exude a cheerful vibe and share a lot of tummy aching humor 😂
We absolutely enjoyed our dinner at Lips. My friend had a birthday, so he was crowned on stage and got the photo postcard, which was so nice. The food was okay. There’s one vegetarian option and they made one vegan option for a friend. It’s a great place for a celebration.
We had my daughters bachelorette there in May. We had 13 women and we had a blast. food was good entertainment was outrageous. My daughter who didnt know where she was going was skeptical at first, but she had an awesome time. very professional drinks were great. Taking my friend for her birthday! cant wait.
Lips is happening! If your celebrating a birthday, why not celebrate it here. Youll get a gold crown and get to get your photo taken with 2 lovelies. Our gorgeous waitress resembled Marilyn Monroe, we tried the steak and eggs, cheeseburgers and chicken and waffles. We were satisified and happy with our Brunch. We will definitely be returning. Lips is open for dinner and Sunday brunch. Reservations are required. No deliveries Lips is located at 227 E. 56th, New York City. Dont forget to bring $1s :)
Me and three of my oldest friends all celebrated our 40th birthdays with a trip to NYC, and our night at Lips was by far everyones favorite part of the entire weekend. Morgan was our waitress and also my favorite performer with the best music! Everyone was so friendly. The food and drinks were great. The show was fantastic. We all got birthday crowns and got to go on stage for pictures with the hostess. Look to spend a some money but its worth every penny! Dont miss a show if youre in town, especially if youre celebrating something special.
Sooo much fun!!! The show was great. Everyone was so nice from the people at the door when you come in to the waitresses and everyone else. The food was cooked to perfect texture however you ask, unlimited mimosas all night for six dollars. All the birthday people got to go on stage and feel special as did a bride to be celebrating her bachelorette party. I would definitely go back, and definitely recommend this place to my friends and associates. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Lips was such a great experience! I went with a bunch of my friends and family for my nineteenth birthday and we had the best time! When you book a reservation for your special occasion, you get to go up on stage and two of the queens usually crack jokes and then you get to take a picture with them and receive a brownie with a candle! The music and dancing were super entertaining, and the food was great—everyone in my party was pleased and we generally have high expectations so I’m not sure what all the fuss is about in some of the other reviews. I wasn’t old enough to drink at the time so I cannot speak to those. The staff was incredibly friendly and the queens were so much fun to be around. I can’t wait to go back once my friends are all twenty-one!
I took our group of 7 here for my friend’s bachelorette party. She had an absolute BLAST! The food was really good with decent portion sizes. The performers were amazing and the music was fun. The only critique I have is that I felt they spent more time doing birthday shout outs than actual performances.
Inside was a bit tight and small but very beautiful and welcoming. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and would love to go again as soon as possible because the show was amazing. While the food was just decent to be honest but pricey which is expected of food in New York.
Had a great time! The atmosphere is fun and casual, the service is excellent and the food is ok (no one comes here for the food ;)the performers were awesome and we had a very fun night!! you can also ask to call a member of your party on stage if youre celebrating a special occasion!
Had soooo much fun. They put on a GREAT show, very entertaining. I plan on returning. The place itself is gorgeous very well decorated. Atmosphere real chill. Food was amazing, on the other hand the drinks are cheap bar liquor(gross).
Went here with my husband for Sunday drag brunch and we loved it. Our server was Blaqueline ONasty and she was super nice. We got unlimited bloody Marys and they were so strong I could barely handle it and we were brought 3 pitchers! I usually have to drink a lot to get drunk but the tipsiness lasted until like 5pm! Also we werent expecting this but the food was really good! We both got salmon benedict.Ginger was the emcee and her improv stuff with the audience was funny but some of her Broadway numbers got a little boring and her lip sync was nonexistent at times. I would definitely cut the Gypsy Rose Lee number, it had a lot of talking and felt like "dear air." But all the other performers were fantastic, especially Empress and Lauren Order. A great experience!
Had such an awesome time @ Lips tonight!! My second time here! Celebrating my dear friends 50 bday!! Highly recommend this place for a night out, dinner, show and drinks!
AMAZING SHOW, FOOD AND AMBIANCE .!! 4 stars because we arrived early for the show however even having a reservation still waited well over 40 mins. Once seated, greeted by our FANTASTIC drag server..kept us laughing the entire night. Gave us food and drink suggestions and Mann was it DELICIOUS. Only downside it wasnt many drags there performing. So servers were performing as well. That night it just seemed a bit chaotic but it wasnt disappointing at all. I will definitely go back. I had an AMAZING TIME.
I arranged a bachelorette for one of my sorority sisters here and the show was a lot of fun. The ladies know how to throw a party, and I just wished that it could have lasted an additional 30-60 minutes. The drinks were strong and good, but the food was not that great. I ordered a chicken Marsala for my main course (during the Saturday night show). The chicken was dry and the vegetables were not that great either; the only thing that I enjoyed on my plate were the mashed potatoes. In my opinion, the venue is good for a fun show, however the food is not that great.
Superb place to visit if you like drag queens and their shows. Gay or straight or bi or whatever you call your self, this is a fun place to be. Surprisingly the food was really good too :loved the Sea Bass and the Ravioli. Lovely people and place!
