Zürichstrasse 57, 6004 Luzern, Switzerland, Luzern
Opposite a bus stop, this simple hostel with a vibrantly colored facade is a 3-minute walk from the Lion Monument, which is dedicated to war heroes, and 13 minutes on foot from the popular Chapel Bridge landmark.Basic mixed dorms feature bunk beds, and offer free Wi-Fi, lockers and linens. Some have sinks, and bathrooms are shared. Private rooms sleep up to 4 guests, and some provide en suite facilities. Children age 15 and under are welcome with adult supervision.Parking is complimentary. Other amenities include an Indian restaurant, 3 verandas and a communal kitchen.
The place has everything you need to spend a few days in Lucerne.Hosts are super friendly, and theyll help you with anything you need.Has a small kitchen, perfect to prepare your own food.Downside, internet connection is only available in common areas.
Amazing
Location is great as your bus leaves you right in front of your lodge. Glacier garden is exactly there. So if you even get late reaching Lucerne or your hostel, head out there in just 2 mins to save the time. This is a kind of old cheap hostel at an expensive price. I preferred not to click any photo there. A very old house-like building with small rooms and not so appealing beds. It cost us CHF 95 for one day, 2 people. The main station is just 8 mins away from the bus. And you can get on any bus as it will pass by the main station where you can see the chapel bridge and cruise on lake Lucerne.
Its very bad place.. Rooms and ambience is depressing.. There was no person on reception.. They deduct money without asking us and they cheated us by deducting extra amount.. Worst experience
We had a great time in this hostel! We payed about 187 CHF for two days. We had free towels! We were able to leave our backpacks in lockers and start watching city about 9 00 in the morning. Also we were given Lucern guest card so we had a free bus ride everywhere. Showers and toilets was good and new(at least at third floor). Kitchen was also good for cooking, we used fridge and plates. For good stay here take two 2 CHF coins with you for lockers. Staff is no always at hostel - so dont hesitate to phone when nobody there to meet you. You can use free wifi for that at first floor.
What I expect from hostel, free public transport ticket, kitchen which can be used and bus stop close to front door.
Good price/quality. Good location (near Lion monument). No cooking stove in kitchen (only microwave, watercooler, utensils, fridge).
Worst hostel experience... no hygiene,Poor coordination, bedsheets wr not washed , wifi wr not available in room nly at entrance.... no staff etc.
Dirty, and smell of indian food everywhere. We had to leave and find another accomodation.Got refund
Clean room, with some slight bed noise when moving and some traffic noise from closed window, but nothing so bad to disturb my light sleep. Basic bedding, sheets and reception services, but fair price, so close to city center,
Thanks to the receptionist, Charlotte, for being so friendly and helpful in an otherwise cold-feeling place. She was truly an angel in one of the more miserable hostels I have experienced in Europe. I had a problematic roommate who the owners should NOT have permitted to stay, dirty and run-down facilities, and limited lounge and kitchen. 3 Georgians I befriended there left early because they felt there was no control/safety there. But, Charlotte helped to keep my great 3-week vacation from ending on a bad note because she did the best she could. 3 good points: comfortable bed (surprisingly), location, and Charlotte. Next time, though, Ill definitely pay more to get more out of accommodations that reflect the grace of Lucerne.
For the price, its a good place very close to the centre of Lucerne. You might have to climb creaky stairs (because there is no lift), but the rooms and beds and sheets they give you are clean. Lockers are also provided.
There is no wifi connection in the rooms and the ros are not neat, the blankets arent washed. The hotel is not upto the mark for what we expect.
You get what you pay for. And it’s very affordable, so expect very small rooms with nothing more than basic necessities. Room was properly soundproofed. The shared bathroom were the weakest point, often dirty and stale, and too limited (1 shower per gender, only 1 washing table in the women’s bathroom, ...).
The guy who received me is a frustrated man who may be very rude to people. The hostel was clean, but very very old....
Wifi doesnt work. The electricity plugs also dont work.Reception not open for majority of the time.Avoid.
They close all the common areas, some quite early. Wifi is very poor in common area, and doesn’t reach beyond. Deposits are absurdly high for everything.Good experience otherwise, but wouldn’t stay here again.
Great location (super close to central Lucerne), friendly & helpful staff. The hotel itself was alright. You get what you pay for.I had to put on bed sheets myself, but thats fine too. U can "rent" a towel for 5 Franken. They is a cool kitchen / chill out area. The room I stayed in was clean, there was some noise from bypassing cars that I heard during the night, but it wasnt bad.Really good price, especially for Lucerne/Switzerland. I would stay there again. :)
Room was quite smelly, limited number of toilets and shower rooms, and the shower room on our floor was broken...
There were beds, arguably uncomfortable, but it is a cheap hostel we are talking about
They didnt respect my reservation. its very noisy. WiFi not in the rooms olnly near the reception.
Less congested bathroom, next to main road so very noisy, no charge point if you are in top bunker. Worst hostel I ever been.
Have been here for 3 hours and already regret it. Staff was rude. WiFi is comically bad and only available in the common room, and the room Im in has LITERALLY one outlet for everyone to share. And the common room (the only place for wifishuts down before midnight. So for most international travelers without phone plans, thats a legitimate problem. Yes, its cheap (relatively speakingand close to the city center, but for the traveler relying on hostels for support and a place to sleep it leaves a lot to be desired. Book somewhere else in advance and dont waste your time.
You get what you pay for. Decent hostel to stay for your Lucerne adventures. Easily accessible by bus from Lucerne bahnof.. Get bus no. 1 (direction maihoffrom lucerne at get down at 4th stop.bus stop is just opposit of the hostel. Neat and clean as well...
Real congested and small rooms. Common kitchen and dirty. Not clean at all. Except location, everything is bad. Checkin Staff was not approachable. Okay hotel. If you don’t get any other place then this is fine for a night stay but not highly recommended. Some rooms don’t have private toilets so be careful while choosing the room and amenities. One of the couple were in a fix when they got to know about their room was like this and they don’t refund if you cancel. So think and research before booking this accommodation .
Its a simple basic clean lodge centrally located. It has a bus stop just next to it. The logde has a separate space for cooking , a separate reading and working area and a separate lounge cum eating area where you could sit down and eat your meals. The kitchen is well equipped with an induction gas top , microwave and all basic utensils. The staff is also very cordial.
It’s a place for what you pay for, it’s clean and they are gentle, it also have a common area for having food and a kitchen. My recomendation would be, don’t let your stuff in the kitchen, someone stole my apple; but the host offer me a free tea or coffe.I would definitely return any other time.
Rude, uncooperative, unprofessional and close-minded staff – especially the owner. We were threatened, yelled at for one hour and refused help. Almost had our money stolen. Discriminated against due to age and heritage, insulted "you need to go back to school" and ordered to "go to bed now!". This is not in any way how you speak to a customer who has booked from you and paid you money. No discussions, not even a normal conversation can be held with these people. They will yell at you if there is a problem instead of helping you and cooperating to solve a problem. Highly unprofessional behavior. The room is very small, there is no heating despite cold weather, slow wifi, only one place to charge your electronics, female bathroom was terrible (dirty, no paper towels to dry hands, no light for the shower, no warm water), the kitchen is impossible to cook in (dirty, stove is very weak, no essentials like oil for cooking), no towels (you have to pay for a towel).By far the worst experience Ive ever had. Not worth the money, time or nerves.
The worst place to stay. Hotels are meant to for hospitality, which the hotel staff here doesnt understand. A bad choice of accommodation in a beautiful city. The man at the reception was rude. Not at all recommended.
The owner blamed us for not correctly parking our car. But another employee told us to park it there. Due to us parking on that spot, other guests couldnt leave for about 4 hours. The owner blamed us! The beds were okay. Hygiene was good.
Good little place. No oven but two electric hobs on work top. Good location for seeing Lucerne and the staff are very helpful. Coop is only a 5 minute walk down the road too.
We (familystayed 2 nights. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Good location and good hostel. The male receptionist could be little bit more Customer friendly.
Someone was there for my check In at midnight. They were very Nice, the rooms were clean, every thing was perfect. Wi-Fi was only available on main floor and wasnt the best but its not the end of the world.
Of course not luxurious but provides all basic amenities. A nice kitchen as well with utensils, fridge allows cooking. Great location.
WiFi available only in common area. The only person friendly from the staff is the swiss lady at the reception.
If you are looking for a decent and economical accomodation close to lake Lucerne then this is the place. Hardly 05 minutes from the main station. They have an option for shared accommodation or single room. A very old property well refurbished. Opposite to lion statue. You can cook your own food if you want. Thumbs this place.
Not a value for money,Internet is not working in rooms(work only near receptiontoilet is common(only 1 on each floor)
Friendly workers and perfect location close to the lion Monument but the prices are a bit high for the private rooms
If I could give less than one star I would. We had a horrendous experience here with incredibly rude staff and dirty rooms. The owner even admitted to not changing and washing the duvet covers after each guest, claiming its not a 5 star hotel! For the price, we expected more, especially since wed stayed in other Swiss hostels for a similar price and huge jump in quality. If anyone is interested I can send photos of the damp walls, mold on window frames and unclean conditions. The staff refused to return my ID when we requested to check out again (an hour after checking ininsisting we must pay for our whole stay. After almost 30 minutes of being told its not our fault, its the Chinese and similarly racist remarks, the owners attempted to offer us another room, admitting they hadnt cleaned the original one in a few days. It is true that at check in he offered us a change from the 6 bed to 4 bed dorm (for a price of courseclaiming its a little crowded, but we didnt mind the extra people. As we were attempting to leave, he then claimed he tried to warn us about the conditions, once again blaming the completely lovely Chinese family already in the room. In the end he refused to give us our payment receipt, claiming we didnt deserve one because he had to charge my credit card from the number on file. We assume he did this so that he could claim we were a no show. Simply awful customer service. We will never ever be back and will warn others too!
I would not reccomend staying at this hostel for a couple reasons:-very expensive and not worth the money-wifi is really spotty and only works in 2 places-1 outlet in a dorm room for 6- no outlets in the common room-small bathrooms with no lock
Only one bathroom. Can be noisy at nite if ur room is facing the road
This place is a Backpackers with a good size dining and lounge room, adequate kitchen. Good location and close to transport with city bus pass included. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful. We have enjoyed our stay here.
Hostel is pretty grimy, for the price I kind of expected more. Only stayed for one night. In the morning we had to catch an early train out of Lucerne, so we needed to check out right at 7, which is the posted time, but the manager was 15 minutes late to check us out, thus making our morning more hectic than it needed to be.
The bedroom for two is OK. The shared restroom is small and not so much clean. The reception says that need to retain your only ID (passporton the check-in and they can return your ID for 10 euros. When you do the checkout, they refund your money. The wifi only works on the social area not on the bedrooms.
Decent rooms and the bathrooms arent bad. The location is okay (15 minute walk to the main part of town ), but they give you a free transportation pass which is nice
Staff was unfriendly before check-in. The bathrooms werent very clean, and lacked any outlets. The bedding was questionable and the room smelled musty. There was only one outlet per room, which is inexplicable for a hostel. There were some charges that werent explicit on the website. Most of the guests are older and not really friendly, creating somewhat of a hostile environment. The hostel could have a culture change by organizing activities for guests.
Unfair business practices to customers. When you arrive you are additionally and without notice being asked for a deposit of 20 CHF for the locker key. If you refuse they will ask for your ID or Passport and they would keep it as a deposit. Is this even legal? How can somebody have your own ID or passport in possession except the public authority? They also promised to reserve one parking place for our car, but when we arrived the place was taken by another customer. Quality and tidiness of rooms: First you cannot open the windows which are facing to the main road. The heavy traffic, even in the night, is so noisy that you cannot sleep. Pillows and blankets stink. On the first floor there is only one (!shower for men and one for women and there were at least 8 rooms (4 peopleon the floor. That means for one shower there might be 16-32 customers. The only asset is the location in the city center, however considering healthy risks and attitude of the staff I would recommend finding a better place even further from the center. In conclusion never EVER again!
Location is convenient but the balcony is a smoking area that are too close to our room. We were constantly irritated by the smoke.
Very nice place to stay , had no problem and very close to station and tour coaches
OK for low budget. Cooking facility available. Prefer attached toilets.
