On the banks of the River Shannon, this modern, upscale hotel is 15 minutes' walk from King John's Castle medieval fortress and 25 km from Shannon Airport. The polished rooms feature free Wi-Fi, pillow-top mattresses and tea and coffeemaking facilities; upgraded rooms and suites add river views, separate lounge areas and/or glass-enclosed balconies. There's a sophisticated restaurant, a casual eatery and a clubby bar with regular live music. The leisure centre offers 4 pools, a gym, a sauna and a hot tub. Other amenities include a spa, a salon, a business centre and 6 meeting rooms.
A really lovely hotel with great food and staff
Its a wonderful place to stay. Within walking distance of the city center where you have everything you could want to shop for and beautiful scenery.
Unfortunately probably one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in.Over-priced bedrooms, under staffed and one of the bar staff had a shockingly negative attitude and said some questionable things.Bedrooms were what you would expect from a normal 4* hotel. One of the only positives of the room was the fact the shower and bath were separate. Drinking water was provided but no glasses to pour the water into. No coffee machine was in our room as described in the booking process. For a price of roughly €300/night you would expect car parking to be included but it costs an extra €9/night for hotel users.Arrived for dinner at 8pm and left at 10:30 due to the incredible waiting time. The dining part of the restaurant was quite dark and the description of the range of food on the menus was almost unreadable due to the light text/font they used. (I have attached a photo)As for the food : Seafood tagliatelle had prawns which we overcooked and a salad on top? you also had to take off the head and tails off the prawns yourself. As for desert, the roulade had some pink cream on top of this Swiss roll that had way to much sugar in it, It looked and tasted processed. There was a wedding or conference on which had extremely loud music playing and it started at 11pm. You could hear it almost word for word on the 1st floor of rooms.Would not recommend to stay here when looking for a place to stay in Limerick.
Nice hotel, large and clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Food is good. But I still recommend to walk 5 minutes over the bridge to the city center to dine in one of the restaurants and pubs there.
Took my daughter for breakfast. What can I say.Excellent all aroundService unbelievable.Service top classFood absolutely deliciousWe will be back & I tell all our friends where to go.
Lovely stay ....counter staff helpful, informative and efficient .Spotless rooms ......room service telephone reception need to listen more carefully at the outset .
Excellent hotel. Great staff and good food.
Stayed here gor a conference. Room was lovely and big. Food was lovely also. Will be back.
Our stay at the hotel was pleasant enough though our experience at the on-site restaurant really colored it negatively. Mixed bag, can’t quite recommend it but also wouldn’t tell you not to stay there
Lunch at the Strand Hotel today was a dreadful experience for three work colleagues and myself. The waiter took the order was most discourteousto one of my colleagues when taking the order and repeated what she said by mimicking her voice, totally unprofessional. She was very upset. We ordered 2 scones and 2 cookies to take away, three times the order was presented to at the the because it was incorrect, In the end the takeaway dessert was still not what we ordered, but we just wanted to leave. After a long wait, our food was eventually presented, but not at the same time, it came in dribs and drabs..... ..Four very disappointed ex customers
Had lunch at the hotel. It was delicious, the best beef that I have tasted in a very long time. Staff helpful and polite. This hotel is well worth a visit.
A huge well done to the hiring manager because the staff are extremely attentive and lovely. We had a nice time there!
Im with a tour group. This was our first hotel. Great bed! Nice location.
Amazing location. Delicious food. Great facilities. Lovely helpful staff on reception and throughout the hotel. Would definitely recommend and stay again
Just got back from a 5 night stay at the Strand, loved this hotel. Great location and the service was great!! Susan and Siobhan were great at the front desk and gave us great advice on where to eat and gave us an awesome contact for a driver who we used for a trip to adare and the cliffs. Had a great time, thank you for the hospitality!!
We had a lovely stay at The Stand Hotel. The room we had was large, spacious and extremely comfortable. The views of Limerick are simply spectacular.
Beautiful hotel , staff were lovely especially our server Chris he was fantastic at his job couldnt do enough we were on a hen party only issue I had was we arrived at 2.30pm and some of group didnt get rooms until after 5pm , our air conditioning was leaking so we had to get a manager to look at it and obviously couldnt turn it on then but overall it was a lovely hotel. Enjoyed our stay
Just arrived to this hotel after arriving from London after driving all day me my wife and our baby and unfortunately we were not allowed to stay at there hotel because I did not have credit card I had a debit card but this was not good enough for this hotel I do not think this was acceptable I am very disappointed and would not advise anyone to go there
Great location to the city center and King John’s Castle and the workers were amazing but the A/C didn’t work and the WiFi was extremely well. As an international traveler having access to strong WiFi is necessary.
Great location and thats the only thing currently going for the hotel at the moment. Upon arrival we arrived around 40 minutes early for check-in the reservations / front desk staff were amazing to be fair. When we walked into the bar area which was busy we were greeted by the "running around like a headless chicken" supervisor, he asked were we staying and our room number in the general bar area which is open to the public also in the middle of the crowded room which was utterly unprofessional. We then asked for a quieter seat at which point he pointed to an area which was free to be seated but still in the middle of the bustle, this person then just walked away from us instead of checking to see if that was alright as he had mentioned the rest of the quieter area at the back of the bar was fully reserved. The attention to detail could have been better, when we got into the room it was a fairly standard and basic room being a "superior king" room. The bed sheets had marks almost like stretches and tears on top not even trying to hide these then the showers are very outdated, one of the sliding shower doors wasnt connected to the bottom rail and hanging on by only the top connection. Parking was also not included in the original hotel price and we werent made aware of this before arrival until we had seen the €9 overnight charge sign whilst driving into the car park. Overall we wont be staying here again.
Lovely food, and got some cocktails. Lovely views over Limerick City and our barman Steve looked after us so well. Interior decoration is amazing, very luxurious.
Great two day experience here. Wonderful staff, especially Mary at the front desk. The buffet breakfast was just OK. We did dinner one night there and enjoyed the food and our waiter Kristopher. Clean hotel. Thanks for a great stay.
Highly recommendedParking for a start is very close and reasonable at 8.50 for 24 hours. Our room was lovely. Beds were comfy. Lovely view over Limerick from the room. Easy walk to the shops. Breakfast was lovely but bring back a bit more self service but keep the hot food cook to order. Staff was lovely. We had a fanatic stay over the Weekend. The hotel was beautiful and staff were great. We highly recommend this hotel if u are travelling to Limerick.Hopefully we back soon
Very good area.Staff were so friendly and service was great.Menu from the river bar was very large with a good selection would definitely return 👍
Fantastic hotel. Lovely staff. Great food and a great location
Great hotel, four of us in a family room. Comfortable beds lots of space. Good pool, close walk to everything. Easy parking.
The staff here are excellent, and all very helpful, likeable and friendlyDinner was good, breakfast was excellent and rooms are a good size.
Don’t come here for a quick lunch. I’ve just left the river bar & restaurant where I waited 45 minutes for a smoked salmon salad and sweet potatoe fries. I came in at 12.50 before a large tour/party and they had their food and paid before me. After waiting for 20 minutes the server asked if he could confirm my order and check on it as not many people were in the bar at that stage. He checked and didn’t come back to me. After another 20 minute I asked him would the food be much longer as I have been waiting 40 minutes upon which he decided to check and came back some minutes later with my order. Seemingly it was brought to the wrong table and had sat in the kitchen since. He offered me a complimentary drink (note I was drinking waterwhich I declined . Terrible service !!
Visited here for a seminar.Room was warm and stuffy.Toilets were on another floor.TV for the presentation was good and easily visible from the back of the room.Chairs were ok. Not the worst Ive ever sat on though.Location is good. I didnt avail of the on-site parking.Busy hotel.
The service was extremely poor, especially at the restaurant inside the hotel. Staff were standing around talking instead of serving. Twenty minutes pass by and nobody comes to check on us. As i’m leaving on of the waiters stops by to let ask us if we enjoyed our meal. Wouldn’t reccomend to anyone.
The facility is ideally located making it easy to walk across the bridge and get into town. The building is attractive and the staff is VERY good. Parking in the parking garage is cramped, and with only one floor there arent enough spaces for the number of vehicles, causing people to have to park all over the place. My room had some minor maintenance issues which the staff noted and will (hopefullytake care of. Breakfast was good but could have been better. Overall a nice place to lay your head down.
Room was spacious, bed was comfy (apart from being two mattresses pushed togetherbathroom offered a shower AND tub which was a nice option, staff was extremely friendly
Attended a function here on Friday the 20th and stayed overnight.Couldnt recommend the hotel highly enough, beautiful room, gorgeous food and fabulous staff.Looking forward to returning
Comfortable room and a handy location. Check in and reception staff were friendly and efficient.Im giving three stars because the restaurant experience was so poor. Our deal came with a free glass of prosecco which wasnt provided. We waited over an hour for our meal, and had to ask for it several times. It was not nice when it did arrive.Breakfast was OK, but I was disappointed that staff werent wearing masks.Overall, OK but not great.
Overall, We had a great stay at the Strand Limerick hotel. I have mostly good things to say with only one major issue. First, the good stuff:It has luxurious accommodations in a centrally located area. The rooms were spacious and well kept, with air conditioning, which is not something that I’m used to in Ireland. The beds were comfortable, with modern, tiled bathrooms and a glass walled shower. The gym had a good mix of treadmills, free weights, and machines, though it’s usually fairly crowded. It had a heated pool, saunas, and hot tubs. The bar area was very nice, very spacious, and had a menu with a variety of good food choices. They have an excellent breakfast available, including an omelette bar.The staff was all friendly, and accommodating. The only major issue, is their situation with the hotel key cards. I was a guest there for an extended amount of time, and during that time, any key card that I was given would deactivate within a day or so. During the numerous trips to the front desk to get new key cards, I could see and overhear that I was not the only guest with this problem. The staff initially said that it might be because my key card was near my cell phone, but after the many times of getting new key cards issued, I could definitely say that is not the case. It appears that whatever is wrong with the cards is not something that the hotel seems in a hurry to fix or address.Despite that one issue, everything else went very well. I would highly recommend, and I will look forward to staying there again
Good location, pleasant staff, decent rooms but parking of 9 Euros per night is a rip off.
AVOID !! The porter Nicolas tried stealing €35 but was caught red handed and made a excuses that he thought it was a tip that he helped himself to by opening a person see through folder belonged to a customer to get the €35 and hid it behind his back when he was caught. The management att the hotel want to cover it up because its difficult for them to find any staff, so theyd rather employ a thief to rob from customers!
Stayed here the night before the limerick marathon as the hotel was recommending to stay there was near the start line and had breakfast on early for runners the morning of the marathon. So I brought the wife and kids along for the weekend. Arrived Down hotel had a wedding and a ball on the nite noise was madness and the family room situated above the smoking area . The whole family were up to all hours of the morning not able to sleep . Should have warned in advance there were 2 big events on the nite before of have the family rooms away from the madness down beneath them ..
Perfect location and comfortable room. It is centrally located and makes it easy to sightsee. The hot tub was fabulous after a long day of traveling and walking. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were so sweet. I only wish i had written our bartenders name down. Lovely red head with the name of a nymph, she is absolutely amazing!!
Fabulous hotel, rooms very spacious, bar is beautiful, staff were so friendly in the middle of the city.
Wonderful hotel with excellent food with fantastic service. Always a pleasure to visit. Continued success with all that you do.
Great hotel, beautiful rooms and facilities. Lovely breakfast! But 4 stars because service in the restaurant was less than average... Took 1 hour to get the dinner and water to drink... Also had to ask for ketchup twice... They forgot the first time to bring it when I asked. Also it was after 8pm so wasnt awful busy or anything. Will stay again in the hotel but wont be returning to the restaurant...
I had a company event at the hotel in the City View Suits on the 5th floor. The view of the Limerick City from their was amazing. The suite had a good seating area with good visible projector screen for the event.I stayed there for the night in a standard double room and the room was great. Again, the view from the room was amazing eith full length glass windows.I had a couple of drinks in their bar and the ambience of the place was nice.I will surely recommend the place if you are looking to stay right near the Limerick City Centre area.
Good location on the river, close to everything but far enough away to avoid the light/noise. Room and restaurant were nice. The parking and food credit (not for drinks!were a little confusing.
Welcoming and helpful staff who went to great lengths to make sure we were all ok. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Plenty of things to do, and children welcome. Brilliantly positioned for easy access to the city. Overall, would highly recommend a stay at the Limerick Strand.
I’ve just returned home from a three night stay in The Strand Hotel with my friend. Considering this is a four star hotel, we were very disappointed for a number of reasons. We were woken up at 5.30am on the first morning due to noisy deliveries. We went down to breakfast where there were no plates. When we asked for some, the Chef brought them out but they were completely cold. We selected our food from the buffet but by the time he had cooked our eggs, the breakfast was also completely cold. That evening we went down to dinner and the rose’ wine we ordered was luke warm. Following our meal we went into the bar for a few drinks. We ordered a couple of glasses of white wine and although this came from the fridge it was not chilled. I really don’t know how they can justify the prices they charge when it clearly isn’t at the temperature it should be.Our room was on the second floor, close to the main entrance and on our second night we were woken up by talking, shouting, bad language and general rowdy behaviour. This went on for some time and we had a very bad night’s sleep.I must say all the staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful but on saying that we definitely would NOT return to the Strand.
Perfect location for a Limerick experience. Have stayed a few times here and no major complaints. More of a stop and go hotel rather than family orientated. Hotel bar at the end of the night had a good atmosphere which is hard to get in a hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Easy friendly check in and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool and spa were very well maintained, the steam room was extremely clean and noticed staff walked around and even wiped down the handles and door knobs. The hotel is in a fantastic location. We did eat in the restaurant downstairs, we were thrilled and found it to be overpriced for the quality and portions. The vegetable soup was so bad we had to even send it back.Overall still a fantastic experience for the hotel and price.
A long time since visited The Strand. Shared a meal and chat with friends who had a Sad occasion to celebrate the life of a Great lady .Staff where very helpful and meal was enjoyable.Nice to see and watch the River Shannon continue on its way to the Atlantic from the restaurant.
We enjoyed a fantastic stay this weekend, the rooms were as clean & well maintained as our previous visit. The beds are super comfortable & the bathroom is spacious and spotless. The little touches are noticed & appreciated. Our meal was of an excellent standard, we had 3 different dishes, the dessert was by far the best we’ve had in a long time & of 5 star quality, made by an artisan! The staff though is what makes this hotel stand out from comparables, Siobhan at the desk, Kris in the restaurant and both day & night Managers we’re exceptionally pleasant & accommodating. They deserve special recognition! I will most certainly be back and recommend The Strand to anyone visiting Limerick.
