Town archives showcasing traditional crafts, furniture, archaeology, paintings, maps and prints.
So what kind of museum is closed during weekends? This one for sure. As tourists who would visit mostly weekends you can’t visit the museum. I mean it’s open from Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm so who exactly could visit? Seriously?
Free entry, and in my mind, thats just as well. An eclectic collection with information and displays about the citys past. Not extensive, a little of lots of things, and little in depth, I thought. Wont take long to pass through if you have some time to kill.
Small but impressive historical collection.
Well maintained
Niet heel bijzonder. Ratjetoe van onderwerpen. Kant hurling zilver etc...
Fantastic place!
Awesome
Nice, free little museum, although very little information about the whole history of the county, maybe the big historical facts are kept in other museums in which you have to pay
Musée gratuit, intéressant pour le côté historique. A faire si vous visitez la ville. Accueil très agréable par le staff, merci !
Wow, what a neat museum, and it was free admission! If you are in Limerick and want to learn about it, this is the place to go. I had no idea the city had been around for so long and that silver and lace were so important to its history. The front desk attendant was friendly and I had a nice experience here. Here are some random pictures I felt were worth while I suppose 😂
Muito bacana pena que é pequeno
Brilliant! Free entry and went on a Monday afternoon so I had enough space to enjoy the exhibit
Fantastic collection. You can learn so much about the history of Limerick in a short visit ! I’m so happy I visited 😄
Interesting little city museum with free entry.
Un po unaccozzaglia di oggetti diversi senza nessun particolare filo conduttore, breve visita può essere carina ma nulla di indimenticabile
Loved this museum! I can’t believe the other reviews because the museum has so much history packed into one! Read all the signs and you can easily make a hour out of it! My favourite part was the Georgian history and I never knew how prosperous the Georgian city was on the world stage. Also with thousands of years old artifacts like spearheads and axes. Make sure to visit the water front just behind the building too and it is a lovely walk. Definitely will come back next year to Limerick and will visit here again!
Most boring museum I have ever been. Very small just with a few rooms, can be finish in 5 mins even less.
Nice historic museum
Accueil agréable, musée charmant et intéressant
Compact but some great stuff .
Tiny 3.2 room museum on the history of Limerick town. Enjoyed it but wished there was more. If you go here visit the Hunt Museum as well.
Boring
Quaint
Man on the desk was very helpful but very little to see here. Poor lighting. Very uninspiring. Not even sure this warrants the title of Museum.
Was very happy to visit, not only was there no cost but there was so much to read about and learn about Limerick, its history, their role in the evolving global economy, and many cool artifacts.I wasnt aware of how big lace was hundreds of years ago, and Limericks role in it. Also I wasnt aware that Limerick supplied outfits for the Confederate army in America years back, when Limerick had the largest clothing factory at the time.Glad I went, I suggest you take a visit to maybe learn something!
Brilliant place to visit. Beautiful rooms restored to the original look. Servants rooms and kitchen. All as they were. Loads of antiques mixed in with ever hanging artwork or interesting displays. Well worth a visit
Very interesting place
Very informative
Its free and well worth a visit.
So good!
Limerick mám trochu tick
Very small but lovely museum. Quite nice to get a grasp of the history of the city. Definitely suggested, considering the entrance is free
El castillo vale la pena.
Well thought out displays, loved the photographs from the 70s. Small, expected a bigger museum for such a vibrant city.
I learnt a lot from visiting Limerick Museum! Close to nice coffee shops, so is a place one can go to to spend an hour or two engrossing oneself in new knowledge, and then go and have a nice cup of coffee.
Nice limerick based history
Interesting collection
Great place to visit!
Loads of interesting collections and facts about limerick.
10/10.They deserve a modern printed media copying machine. They also have twenty times more items in storage than can be displayed to the Public. The museum requires appropriate levels of funding. It is miserably underfunded and has been so for decades.Take a bow staff and caretakers of The Jim Kemmy Municipal Museum! All The Very Best,Simon
Great place to visit highly recommended.
A small collection nicely displayed. A good way to put the town in context.
Interesting museum - quite small but worth a visit if you have a spare half an hour.
It has many things about the local history and also about other places, the guides treat you very well and the entrance fee is cheap, it is ideal for children.
Its small. HUNT is far better than this
Small museum in the heart of Limerick City, very knowledgeable staff.
Limerick Museum, previously known as the Jim Kemmy Municipal Museum, is a city museum in Limerick, Ireland
Interesting and educative display of items related to the city recent history, especially 19-20C.
I got very lucky when I went there. It was an exhibition of World War I and how the irish were involved. Very well curated, many photographs of Irish soldiers and their days on the trench. There is also helmets, weaponry, and of course, great information about the war and items on display. I enjoyed to see the roles of women on the war, the used nurse apron with blood stains was impressive. There is also a memorial of all Irish who gave their lives at the war. A great history lesson about the Irish and WW1.
