Lilla Ego in Stockholm
Description
Privilege
Literally the best dinner Ive ever had. If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. The food is truly excellent. Flavor, textures and experience are just everything you could ever want them to be. On the same line, the service was great. Besides having experience-oriented food, they use seasonal ingredients. Honestly, I want to keep going back to try every new dish. We spent 165€ (2 peoplefor a very special experience. Cant recommend it enough!
MoreWas lucky to go for dinner to that unique place while in Stockholm:taste has been interesting and not run-of-the-mill 😋
MoreWorth the hype. Fantastic flavour pairings and creative dishes. Every mouthful a treat. We sat at the bar which was great fun.Expensive but truly special. Can’t wait to return.
MoreEasily one of the best restaurants in Stockholm!
Yes, its crowded, and yes, the service is perhaps a tad inattentive because of it. But getting food this amazing at prices this reasonable is absolutely worth it. Blown away by those flavors every time
MoreCame for dinner but the wait was quite long so we came back for dessert instead.Dessert and wine were exceptional, happy we came back.Plan to show up early if you want to walk in for dinner or later (20:30). Also, be aware that priority for the terrace is given to people who order food and beverage (those ordering beverage may be asked to stand to the side at the high tops).
MoreTheres little to add to this review that hasnt already been said in all the other glowing reviews: amazing and creative food highlighting Swedish cuisine beautifully, unpretentious, cozy, great service, and friendly patrons - make a new friend. If you dont have a reservation, show up before 4pm and try your luck for walk in seating! We had herring, salmon, pork belly, and turbot. ❤️
MoreA wonderful trip to two cities with completely different characters. The first traditional, picturesque and beautiful, the second modern, trendy and vibrant. Interesting museums and nice restaurants in both of them. Going around on bikes. Very expensive, so you need to have control of your expenses.Love them both for their originality.
MoreMy favourite restaurant in the city by far. For the incredible quality of food its decent value. Flavours are really big and interesting and casual/effortless service which is attentive but not stuffy. Book well in advance as its completely worth it. Some super wines too?
MoreLove the concept! Kindest waiter Ive had in a long time.
Probably the best contemperary scandinavian restaurant in Stockholm
Shocked that we were able to walk in a grab a seat, but we must have gotten lucky. Everything from start to finish was delicious, beautifully presented, and one of our fav spots in Stockholm. Chatted with a couple next to us who visit regularly from the US and this restaurant is always on their hit list. Great value for money, service was attentive but not overbearing.
MoreComing from Asia (a lot of pork belly over there— I had the best pork belly here. Delicous food, nice service. Really worth the visit. In case it’s fully booked, be sure to sign up for the waitlist (they have several tabling options— you’re likely to manage to get a table from a last minute cancelation.Again — really worth it. And get the goat cheese foam desert. <3
MoreThis might be Stockholms worst kept secret. But it’s amazing, every time, and it’s not just the food, service is consistently on point.
MoreBeen living in Stockholm for years, finally got a table, really wanted to love this place. The space is simple and charming, service is perfect, presentation is gorgeous, prices fine. When it comes to the food, though, I do not understand the consistent rave reviews. The ingredients surely are marvelous (Arctic char, pork, cod, down to the tiniest detail in a leaf of shiso or some drops of emulsionbut each dish is far too complex, making for some confusing flavors. White asparagus cooked three ways (raw, pickled, blanchedAND yuzu AND hollandaise AND sesame (AND browned butter AND ???layered together? Pork belly AND a reduction AND grapefruit AND a couple of styles of broccoli AND sobrasada AND a wrapper of pickled radish? Please deconstruct your dishes and allow me to approach their more subtle ingredients.
MoreBooked a table and they cancelled my table because they said they can not contact me but all I did not receive any calls the only thing i get was an cancellation email. I replied immediately that i’m going but they told me to wait in a queue for 1 hour ++. Ruined my day in Stockholm. Avoid.
More+ Delicious, refined and researched food with few but excellent vegetarian options. Friendly and professional staff.- we asked for a second roll of bread with our meal but were told we were only allowed one per person! (So bring your own bread). Small portions. There is only one toilet for the entire restaurant so go before!
More💖💖💖Wow, I cant get over this amazing experience! Despite my many food allergies, the Lilla Ego team was able and willing to adapt their menu for me. They discussed it before so everything was planned before I even joined. The kindness and compassion of the whole team is as amazing as the food. I cant thank you all enough for this life changing restaurant experience. 💖💖💖💖
MoreAmazing experience! Great vibe, beautiful and delicious dishes (really, a work of art), super kind staff and fair prices.A must visit if you’re in Stockholm! Will definitely return😎
MoreFantastic food for a reasonable price! But really hard to get a table so be prepared for some waiting time unless you’ve booked. But well worth the wait!
MoreSimply the best! Magic!Best value for money and taste.
This place.... out if this world! We got a drop in table at 8pm and enjoyed again a fantastic meal. Technically they can just put whatever on the table and I would love it. The presentation and combination makes every meal to an experience.
MoreSUBLIME. Every dish is gorgeous and tastes even better than it looks. An intimate space with unpretentious staff serving modern food inspired by Scandinavian tradition. A Stockholm must.
MoreAmazing service, real deal food and crazy good chocolate dessert ;)
Ridiculously well put together cuisine in what must be one of the best places to eat in Stockholm. Very casual and unpretentious vibe. Get the shredded hash browns with roe (its quite a famous dish), the pork belly and the duck. Reserve your table well ahead.
MorePerfect food, perfect wine(they got a marvellous wine selection ), perfect staff and value for money!
MoreI really, really wanted to like this place. Service was lacking at best. The hostess who greeted us was nice and helpful, but our server (guywas so unfriendly it basically ruined our experience. We arrived right before our reservation time, and within 10 minutes of getting seated he rushed us 3 times to place an order ... and made sure to show that he was really annoyed when we weren’t ready to order when he asked for the third consecutive time, instead of offering to explain or help with anything. Once we did, he rarely came back to check in on us. Service is usually much friendlier than this in Sweden (at least not borderline passive aggressively hostileso I was confused.Starters were good and nicely presented, but the main menus were not was impressive. I didn’t find the steaks too special (recommended by our server). I was really looking forward to visit but I am not sure what the hype is about anymore.
MoreThis place serves amazing food combined with the right beverages and has great service. We had the white asparagus as a starter (which you should not miss if you visit within short), the beef for main and the vanilla desert with goat cheese foam (which tasted just like the first time you hear the Beatles, like our waiter said). Simply amazing and worth every penny.
MoreThis is one of my favorite restaurants in Stockholm. They have a very creative and delicious menu, the staffs are super friendly. The only problem I have is that it is super hard to make a reservation :D
MoreAmazing food experience! Lilla Ego combines creativity with a genuine art of taste and comfort. Congrats!
MoreOne of the best places in Sthlm!Amazing food and beverages!Around 800sek for a 3-course dinner and two glasses of wine. A must visit!!!!!!
MoreWe were lucky to get a reservation at Lilla Ego. Apparently, people book months in advance. I’d say to try your luck for a weekday, because that’s what we did. The atmosphere is unpretentious, relaxed and fun, not at all uptight in any way. We took two dishes each (vegetarian options available as well); the portions are not too large, but are, in my opinion, sufficient if you are not starving / like to have a little space left after dinner. You don’t feel heavy and huge after eating there, perhaps because the ingredients they use are top-notch and local, and the combinations cause a flavour burst in your mouth several times during the meal. The bread and butter they bring you is absolutely delicious as well; I could have had 5 of those :Definitely a great start to the dining experience. The staff members are so chilled out, very easy to chat with and seem to really like working there, which is always a positive sign for a business. Also, the food is plated beautifully. We only took one picture because we were too busy eating for the rest.Pretty lovely dining experience :)
MoreBeautiful and delicious food in a really charming atmosphere.
Auto and staff took very good care of us! Delicious food and friendly staff who are willing to give great recommendations!
More😋. A MUST, simply put. The cuisine just exquisite. Hit every tastebud in my mouth even ones I didn’t know about. The staff is super helpful, quick, personable, fun, etc etc. Delicious is an understatement. It’s lusciously piquant. 👏 well done.
MoreAmazing experience! Great food with a casual atmosphere... would definitely come back
MoreAmazing food!! High quality.service in a vibrant.location !! Get there early for a.spot.at.the bar!! And will.not.break the bank !
MoreOk service but outstanding quality food for less than you would pay at any other place in Stockholm. A must visit but note that you must make reservations 90 days in advance as they are always fully booked. There are a few drop-in spots but the safest bet by far is to make reservations. The reason for giving 4 stars is that one in our party asked for another piece of bread, but it was not possible to get that since "they only ordered 130 breads a day".
Moreof all of the places I have eaten in Stockholm this is my absolute favorite. I almost hesitate to give this place five stars simply because I dont want the line or wait for reservations to get longer. The fair is quite traditional with a little bit of a modern twist. The reindeer is a must-try and dont expect too much sauce or a huge piece of meat, it is just enough to emphasize the different flavors and cooking style. Also worth your time is the Roe - not only is the presentation fantastic, The taste is really nice. That being said I did like v fermented Herring even better! We finished off with a couple of desserts, the chocolate, and the blueberry dish. we love them both and you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The entire staff was friendly, helpful, and engaging.Again, you cant go wrong with anything absolutely on the menu though I am looking forward to trying the pork belly next time just to make sure I am right.
MoreAwesome food, great service and atmosphere and good value for money - cant go wrong here!
More"Lamb is not good here" (said by the waiter).Dinner 6 July 2017. Attracted by so many exceptional reviews, I go for dinner: I try and order lamb, but the waiter (pretending to be friendly, but brutallyshouts at me "lamb is not good, youd rather have smoked veal" (what? Why do you have it on the menu then?). We have a saying in my country: "never contradict a waiter", so dont I.I get the dish in the picture: an awful set of different strong flavors (veal, chorizo, cream, spicesfighting against one another, not creating any good taste at all. Bad experience. Was I just unlucky? I am not sure I want to know it!
MoreReally great food with very knowledgeable staff. Definitely try the köksgrogg! Cosy casual atmosphere makes you feel at right home and not at all in a fine dining. The food is some of the best Ive had and the staff are happy to answer any questions you might have about it! Menu changes with the seasons. We had booked our tables, which is a minimum of 90 days, it definitely worth the wait. If youre lucky you can drop in at the bar and have dinner, but seats are definitely limited there. Can wait to visit again.
MoreOne of the BEST food experiences I’ve had in Stockholm so far. Relaxed and yummy yummy food, can’t go wrong. I had fish (rödingfor main and a dessert called something with the moon including goat cheese, vanilla and macadamia nuts...totally weird but totally wonderful 😍
MoreWalked in at 5 and got a seat! Around 5:30 the walk-in seats were almost full. Delicious and artistic dishes with creativity and imagination. Definitely great to seat at the bar and watch the chefs making magic happen. We spent 500 sek pp and it was well worth the price.
MoreWe were lucky to get in without a reservation, which supposedly needs to be made months in advance (for a regular table); we got seats at the bar. This restaurant delivers on all aspects — unpretentious but great friendly service, awesome food, and very fair (for its qualityprices. Amazing experience overall!
MoreSecond visit. Consistently good food. Large portions, relatively low price, warm service.
MoreExcellent food, wonderful relaxed atmosphere! Only critique would be the dessert could have done without the passion fruit which overpowered the other flavors. Otherwise every dish was excellent. Foie gras was sublime. This will definitely become one of our favorites!
MoreWalked past for a quick dinner, and got the bomb. Wow, this is just on another level. So exciting classic foods and drinks, very interesting presentation and great service!
MoreFantastic food! I very lovely experience! Food with loads of love and interior that reminds me of Hälsingland and the forest.
MoreOur meal here was sooooo nice! We were seated by the bar and had a three course meal. The service was great with friendly and chatty staff whom seemed to enjoy working there. The food was of course superb. The prices are high, but not unreasonable.
